Bucks food menu was limited when the new owners first took over and I heard it might go more of a cafe style menu. Now most of their classic bistro type food is back and even improved. I am so happy they stuck to bistro quality food. We ordered salmon and steak and both were cooked perfect. The chimi cajun sauce on my salmon was great. The service was amazing considering they had just lost a few staff and only two gals served the whole full restaurant including the bar drinks. This spot has been on my list to try for a while. We stopped in on a Thursday night before a Silvertips game. The poor server was solo and slammed, but she did get some help partway through. They've got a good selection of beer on tap, but I thought the cocktails were overpriced--nothing really stood out. I'd rather spend $16 on a craft cocktail at Colby Club. The food wasn't great. We got the calamari and it was bad--cold and honestly just bland. We also ordered the beer-battered halibut. It was okay, but a bit overcooked, and it came with fries... maybe 25 total for a 3-piece fish plate. Our bill was around $65 for two beers (with the $2 off Thursday special), the calamari, and the 3-piece halibut. Just overpriced for what it was. The place itself is cute, and they had acoustic music going, which was nice. The staff was friendly and really hustling with how busy it was. Overall, though, I didn't feel like it was worth it and probably wouldn't go back. I wish we could do .5 stars. I struggled between 2 & 3. I came here with my husband and two young kids this evening and we really enjoyed our meal! The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and helpful. My kids were stoked to get a whole box of crayons to color with rather than just the typical 4-pack. The food was GREAT! The kids meals were very generous portions, which I appreciated because my kids are big eaters. Hubby initially ordered the prime rib, rare. The waitress let him know that tonight the prime rib looked a little closer to medium so he changed his order to a Cobb salad with added flat iron steak. It came out beautiful (and rare) and he was very happy with it. He would not have been happy with medium prime rib, so we both appreciated the waitress' honesty. I ordered the seafood cioppino off of the daily special. I mostly enjoyed it. What was a little disappointing was that the menu said it had shrimp, mussels, clams, and scallops. However, I was a bit dismayed to dig in to my bowl to find that there were no clams and quite a lot of calamari which had not been listed as an ingredient. I don't eat calamari so I would have made a different choice (or asked for a substitution) had I known. The rest of the seafood was delicious and fresh, though. And the garlic bread was yummy. The only other feedback I'd give is to suggest a screen door if they are going to prop the front door open. There were quite a few flies buzzing around. We were swatting them away like we were at an outdoor barbecue--not what one hopes to see inside of a classy restaurant. This was the second vist to this restaurant. The first visit was a Friday night, which is there prime rib night. Service was excellent even though it was super busy,food was excellent. Tonight a Thursday night, Service was terrible. We had a reservation for 6pm,we were sitted wait10 minutes for someone to take a drink order. We were asked if we would like some bread, yes please we said. Gave the waitress our order at this time. We order the same steak one with rice one with potatoes. It was like 2 different restaurants when we got our food. My steak was perfect his overcooked, my rice was warm,his potatoes cold. Service was great, she was very nice! The actual restaurant was cute, historical. It was turned from a bank but it felt more like I was in an old saloon to be honest. The drinks- I got some kind of tea the waitress recommended but emphasized I don't like sweet. She promised it wouldn't be.. it was still pretty sweet. The food- coconut shrimp was really good, well made. The sauce was delicious. The Cajun fish tacos- I think this one needs to go back to the drawing board. I love Cajun shrimp and other similar foods but there was so much Cajun and maybe no salt? It made the fish taste soooo dry. I think other flavor profiles would work better for that kind of fish. Mango salsa, avocado crema, chipotle.. all would have been better for that kind of fish. It at least less Cajun.. it's spendy for what it is. My first meal in Everett after I landed in Seattle. After read the review prior to the trip , I decided for a quick lunch . I was greeted by the server Amanda with a sweet welcome smile . We ordered a Cobb salad , artichoke dip and a grilled chicken sandwich. The Cobb salad was big and very standard , I liked the artichoke dip , it's creamy but not heavy. The grilled chicken sandwich was perfect , the chicken was nicely grilled but not dry , it's served with smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce tomato and onions . The aoli provides a nice mild spicy that's well balanced with the sandwich. I believed this is a well known local small restaurant in the old bank building built in the early 1920 . Amanda is a good server , she was the only server than does the meet & greet , serve and run the food , clean and set the tables ! She is the best ! read more

Don't judge a book by its cover really applies to Buck's. from the outside it is easy to miss and looks like a hole in the wall, but as soon we walked in we were greeted by the host and quickly seated at our table (we made a reservation ahead of time via the Yelp app). everyone was super friendly and we quickly settled into drinks and dinner. 1) Smoked halibut - this was so good. perfectly cooked fish over rice and vegies with a decadent sauce and comes out with the glass dome containing the smoke. dinner and a show and gave the fish a perfect amount of smoke. I would definitely order this again! 2) Crab stuffed salmon - this was also good. huge piece of salmon stuffed with a crab medley and fried to a perfect crispiness while maintaining its juiciness. 3) BBQ bison meatloaf. buffalo meatloaf wrapped in crispy bacon and topped with a fantastic bbq sauce. what more do you want?! the only thing I did not like is the mashed potatoes. it is more on the drier side than I prefer. 4) Chocolate peanut butter pie - talk about a huge slice of pie. loved the chunks of peanuts in it. good contrast between the cold pie, hot fudge, peanuts....mmmm. 5) Peach creme brulee - this was good. had a hint of peach, but otherwise your typical brulee. If they added a small pile of diced peaches on the side it could have really pushed this to being really good. Overall I would highly recommend this place and will be back for sure! read more

I came here on Sunday and they were serving brunch. I did not realize that though it was all good. I saw Reuben on the regular menu and wanted to have that here, but the brunch menu was equally interesting. I decided on the sasquatch sandwich which was quite a brilliant take on brunch food. It was basically chicken fried steak minus the gravy, fried egg, bacon and cheese on brioche bun. Instead of fries and salad as you would usually get for lunch or dinner, it was served with country potatoes and fruits. The food was delicious and the two slices of bacon which came with it were a generous size. No skinny bacon here. The place was pretty busy and they seemed understaffed. Just be patient and someone will come along shortly. If I am in Everett area again, I will try other food here. Free street parking in the area. read more

My parents and I came to Buck's American Cafe yesterday to visit some family in town from Idaho and Arizona/Oregon. Parking is provided adjacent to the side of the restaurant with the front entrance facing the main road. Arriving around 5:30 p.m., the place was already bustling with activity and was a bit noisy. It was difficult to hear my family members speaking off-and-on through dinner. The lighting was also a little on the dim side and the floor layout a bit tight, but not too bad. I ordered the Mel's Original Burger and a side salad with bleu cheese dressing in place of the fries/soup. The wait for the food to arrive once we placed our orders was about 40 minutes. The salad came coated in the dressing, as opposed to the dressing being on the side, and was applied in just the right amount. The burger's flavors were perfect, the meat was well cooked, and the cheeses on the burger (Havarti and bleu cheese) were in harmony without one overpowering the other. The only note I had was that the bun was a little on the thick side and the burger a little on the thin side. Not a flavor thing, so much as a relative ingredients portioning thing. Everyone in our group ate everything we ordered, tasty all round. The waitress was cheeky in a chipper way and not too intrusive into dinner table conversation. One of my new favorites in the Everett area. The photo was taken before the evening crowd, so it looks quiet but they get a nice crowd for happy hour and dinner. I like the atmosphere and the food is excellent! I've had the meatloaf and fish and chips so far. Both were very good! I'm a fish and chip fan and although I've only lived in WA 4 yrs, it's top 1 or 2 I have had since living here. It's halibut and the batter is light and crispy without being very greasy. I will be back often for that! Meatloaf was also excellent! I have gone solo, so the recent addition of a TV is much appreciated. I enjoy watching hockey or whatever while stopping in. So I don't eat a lot of meat and my husband loves meat lol so we have a hard time finding restaurants we BOTH will be happy with!!! For his birthday we decided to try this new restaurant . It was nice calm and cozy and clean! our waitress was very nice and helpful and answered our questions My husband ordered a meat dish I never heard of and I ordered a veggie burger and to be honest I'm SO tired of them I was not excited but OMG OMG it was the best veggie burger I've had in my 47 years and that says a LOT!!!!!! My husband liked his meat dinner We also got two beers and both were good. We never get dessert but after such a good dinner we decided to get my husband favorite " cheesecake """ yummy !!!! Ok I have to say this was my favorite dinner is a long time....... And now I'm happy to say we have a restaurant we BOTh can get good food and leave happy and that never happens!!! Service is awesome although busy, our waitress was excellent and knows how to manage and multi-task. Very friendly and attentive with refills and anything else we needed. So our first visit here was actually by happen-stance. We were waiting for a table at the restaurant across the street. Because it would be a bit of a wait we thought we'd find someplace nearby to sit and have a drink or two and that's when we found Buck's. Found a couple of seats by the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. The place was busy but accommodating. Bartender was friendly and attentive to all those at the bar. I had their house whiskey, McCormick's, which I must say was really good. Unfortunately can't seem to find it anywhere other than Buck's....but I digress. Perusing their menu I remembered mentioning that maybe we should just eat there, but ended up going back across the street once our table was ready. Well, since then we've been back a few times. It's a cozy little bar and grill with a warm inviting atmosphere and great customer service. The food choices are good and varied but not overwhelming with page after page. The food itself, excellent! On our last visit they were offering buttermilk fried frog leg apps....so good, even my picky eater child seemed to like them, only because it kinda looked (and tasted) like fried chicken. Also on our table was a ribeye steak, cooked perfectly with good flavor, mac-n-cheese and a green curry halibut. Consensus around the table was the food rocked. Customer service was great. Everyone from the bartender to the hostess to our server was friendly and attentive. Service was perfect with good follow up and never did we feel rushed or ignored. It is a family friendly place that's nice enough for a special occasion but also comfortable enough for a "just because" night of food and drink with a friend or before a Silvertips game. Also as an FYI, that little corner of Everett, for us anyways, is a "Bermuda Triangle" for good food and service. There is Buck's, across the street is Terracotta Red (Asian Fusion) and next door to that is Katana's Sushi. Finally tried brunch here, and it was delicious. The eggs Benedict were perfect with good home style potatoes. What was really surprising is the side fruit that can with it was really good and fresh. My waitress was very friendly. It's a bit dark inside on a sunny day, but warm with wood and brick inside . Long old bar that belongs at the turn of the 20th century. Buck's is an Everett institution at this point. Smaller, intimate space. I always love the vibe of an old Everett building with exposed brick and this place does just that. I have gone here for dinner several times including a birthday celebration. For my birthday, they actually had flowers for me on the table to take home. What a special touch. Sizzling steak is my favorite entree, just be careful because it will splatter on you and it does sting a little. Always cooked to perfection. Just got back from great lunch with my family. My wife had called ahead to reserve a table since we were a party of five so we were seated quickly our water was served fast also we had an awesome server didn't get her name dang it. We placed our order, my wife Nancy chose the tenderloin skewers, granddaughter and her friend ordered the cheese ravioli while my daughter and I went with the panko crusted cod. After placing our order I let the waitress know that my wife was on her lunch break and if they could expedite our order which she was able to do. Our meal arrived and everyone finished their meal except my wife which is pretty normal " the salad fills me up" but she did have a couple of bites of the tenderloin which was a little spicy for her but she got it to go for lunch later in the week. Granddaughter and her friend cleaned their plates of raviolis so I m thinking it was good. Now the cod was hot on the outside with a moist flaky meat along with house made tartar sauce it was delicious my daughter enjoyed hers too. Such a nice lunch the service was excellent we were able eat and talk at a leisurely pace but still get my wife back to work within her hour. Highly recommended enjoy!!!! read more
