If I could give Buck's Deli and Market 10 stars, I absolutely would! This gourmet deli on Daniel Island is a must try for breakfast, lunch, or take home chef made meals. The menu has everything from sandwiches and salads to pastries, and they offer dine in, takeout, and delivery. Numerous gluten free options as well! The bread is even shipped in from Port Chester, New York! The South Side sandwich is incredible and as close to Arthur Avenue style as you will find. The crispy chicken cutlet with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, fire roasted peppers, and balsamic is perfection. The chicken parm sandwich is equally as impressive! As a first time visitor, they even give you a free cookie, which is such a thoughtful touch. The owner, Christian, made the experience unforgettable. As a fellow Fairfield County native, he went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was kind, generous, and had us sample the gluten free protein bombs and house made chips, which were amazing, along with their Arnold Palmers. The hospitality here is unparalleled. It is the perfect mix of northern charm and southern warmth. Easily the best service I have experienced from any owner in the Charleston area. All of the staff were wonderful and seemed to enjoy working there. It's also beautiful, bright and clean. The Boss is a must for anyone from Jersey. If you want to be mind blown, then you should go to this place for sure. You may walk inside like me and my guys and just assume it would be decent for some lunch, yet as you go in then you will be shocked as each of us were. The food we each got was seriously a flavor that was so much better than we could have predicted. The food and layout was very great. For me the thing that I love at any place I ever go to though is more so the vibe more than the food. The vibe in here was so so wonderful and the server we had was so seriously great. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and there was a nice selection of sandwiches that you typically wouldn't find at other shops. Our sandwiches (DI Club and Ralston) were huge, definitely big enough to share (or save half for later)! We also tried the blueberry lemon muffin, which was equally generous in size and absolutely delicious. The only thing that wasn't a favorite for me was the Caprese salad. We were looking for a new lunch location on DI as we wanted to go do early voting. I found Buck's on the Google map and we stopped by around 12:30pm recently. Interior is large, with shelving and refrigerated sections to offer some basic groceries. Their sandwich menu is vast with about 12+ different options. I had the DI Club, and my husband had the Chicken Caesar wrap. Both were really good, and my sandwich had lots of turkey, a thick cut of bacon, with tomato and generously amount of mayo. There are seating options inside, but the chairs are a little small (for our big builds). We were also given a free brown butter chocolate chip cookie, and it was delicious. There were other pastry options to get and I secretly wanted to get the blueberry muffin, but I held out. Overall we had a nice experience here, and enjoyed our lunch. Their BEC was really good. Felt pretty similar to a NY BEC but a little too salty which I've never experienced in a BEC before. My husband got their Reuben and was disappointed by how little meat there was on it. For $15 and the amount was kinda of a bummer. $30 for a BEC and a Rueben. My biggest complaint is that it's very overpriced. $15 for a sandwich with no side and no drink is crazy. Especially considering they are small and leave a lot to be desired. I've liked everything I've tried so far but the value is just not there. There's barely any meat on the sandwiches. For $15 you would almost expect a shareable sandwich. Wow... visiting from out of town and in the last week we have been to Buck's deli 4 times! We had heard it was really good .. but exceeded our expectations! From the authentic deli styled sandwiches, to the best bakery items that I can remember and the "chef" prepared meals/entrees (which you can get to go!).... Plus the friendly people that seem to love working there ... all of this made for an exceptional experience ... which as we leave town .. makes us anxious to come back soon. Service amazing but not sure about the concept. A deli trying to be a mini market. Eggs, milk, frozen pizza and pasta, produce, Raos sauces and pasta, etc, all inflated with high prices. Many produce items should not be out for sale, they are old. Italian sub was good but can't compare to my NYC deli days, not a lot of meat and 50% more than a sub at Publix.
