Was Jonesing for some Vittles and decided immediately on Buck's Saloon and Steakhouse when I saw this on their Facebook Page: 'I've thought long and hard about this but I want to let everyone know we will NOT be showing any NFL games at Buck's until I see the players respecting our National Anthem and no kneeling. I will direct the Bartenders to not put ANY games on the TV's unless approved by me. Too many people gave their lives for our Country to have to put up with this CRAP. I hope you all understand. We will be glad to show ALL College games. Thank You Russel Gant/Owner' This was what was left of my Patty Melt and Tots before I realized I hadn't taken a photo. It. Was. Amazing and worthy of the drive from Boise. Check them out!

Buck's Saloon & Steakhouse Reviewer number 5 Service: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Price for value: 4/5 (tax is included) Bariatrics/Healthy Options: 2/5 Overall stars for this establishment, for me, is 3 and here's why: We wanted to get a little bit out of town and ended up in Melba. Melba is a small farming community about 20 minutes from Nampa, Idaho and has an approximate population of 527. It's known for being the hometown of Playboy Playmate of the year 1990, Renee Tenison (what a scandal that must have been) and Atwell Parry, Idaho State Senator and being a great place to call home. It had been years since I have visited the town. They have the best fireworks production that I've ever seen! Anyway--I looked on Yelp and chose this place because of the advertisements when you come into town and the overall warmth and inviting exterior of the establishment had when we drove by. Now onto the actual business-- We walked into this clean and spacious bar. It wasn't until I was exploring to take pics for you Yelpers that I noticed the restaurant side, which you can see in Lino's photos, and it BSU themed and spacious and clean as well. Its city history shines throughout--there are newspaper articles on the wall, photos, and old décor with a modern twist. Bravo to the look inside! The staff was super nice--not overly friendly, not under friendly. The food came quickly and was well presented with good portions. I have to say that the ranch was AMAZING! I really liked it. I noticed a board with specials and I decided on the ham and cheese sandwich with no bread and loaded potato soup. They put two pieces of lunch meat ham with melted cheese in the middle--nothing special there. The potato soup, however, was super good. It had the right amount of everything including bacon that was quite tasty and chewy. I liked the soup a lot! My dining companion, Yesi, ordered the Nachos (1/2 order) add chicken. The chips were like a fried taco salad shell broken into pieces, which was interesting--I don't know if it did the "Nacho" justice though. The chicken was super dry and hard to eat as if it were microwaved. She didn't eat much and didn't take leftovers with her. Another dining companion, Jon, ordered finger steaks and fries, which he orders at a lot of places. He rated it a 2.5. Again, nothing special. My last dining companion ordered the Patty melt which is served on rye bread and he chose tots. He didn't like it much although he did eat it all and wasn't complexly disappointed. I always ask what he would rate it and he said a two. So, all-in-all, the food wasn't amazing; however, the place is clean, the portions are good, the food is decent, the staff is very nice, and the ambiance is pretty cool- I'd have some drinks and dinner here often if I lived in this tiny town! Well, thanks for reading! I hope you're having a good day whenever you read this!!! Leave a comment and say HI! Would love to know your thoughts on Buck's Saloon & Steakhouse!

I love coming out to Melba and enjoying its beautiful scenic landscape. While I am in town, I love to stop at Buck's. Wait staff is always courteous and on the ball. I ordered the nightly special the other night, the ABC (Avocado, Bacon and Cheddar) burger and it was excellent. It came with a huge serving of fries and the meal was well worth their asking price. I look forward to coming here again and trying other things on their menu. Cool bar and pool hall area as well. There is a separate dining area that is quieter and non smoking if you prefer.

An out of the way place for a beer. The large patio area on the side of the bar would indicate that this would be a good place to stop on a Sunday when you want a place to sit and unwind. There was a band playing southern rock in the patio area, nothing fancy. Beer selection was impressive for such an out of the way place. Didn't try the food yet.

I walked in and OMG, It's way bigger than I thought and so stunning! The booths and chandeliers were very classy. The bartender Mel assisted me and she was very pleasant. She let me know that while they have coffee drinks, she's not much of a barista...they have an experienced barista on staff but they only work there from about 7am to 1pm and I was there approx 1:30pm. She stated she could make simple lattes but nothing all that fancy from the coffee menu as cocktails are her actual specialty so I decided to go with alcoholic libations since that's what she knows how to make. One that stood out to me was called the "Figgy Fizz" which is made with a fig syrup and I was excited as for breakfast yesterday I had the best Greek yogurt I've ever had which was honey and fig flavored so I was definitely in a fig mood lol she whipped up the drink but unfortunately after she handed it to me, she let me know she couldn't find the fig syrup they put in it so she substituted that with pumpkin spice. I was kind of bummed about that and wished she would have asked me first if that substitution was okay with me or if I'd want to try something else because now it's not a "figgy fizz" but a pumpkin spice fizz but I still drank it and it was decent. I decided to try one more drink which was a pomegranate rosemary lemon drop and it was beautiful and very tasty ! It's a nice spot to have a drink, the staff is quite friendly and they have some unique flavors so i can see myself frequenting this establishment. I want to come back soon and give their coffee drinks a try when I can stop by earlier!

All of the employees and bartenders were a lot of fun and very personable. It looks like everyone working really enjoys it. So nice to see! No food, except charcuterie boxes for sale. But we were told we were welcome to bring food in. I was there with a friend for a Valentine's-themed mimosa crawl. The most popular drink special was the Love is Dead mimosa. Very cool looking and tasty. Great place for a date night, cocktail before a dinner out, or hanging with the girls. Looking forward to trying their coffee offerings in the future.

Second time was a week later so we could take my niece for her birthday. I love trying new places and checking out their specialty cocktails. They have very unique cocktails with very unique names. Each cocktail has a fun story or description to it as well. They were all very tasty. My favorite, so far, is the Trust Fund Tiki. That is a dangerously good drink. Many of the drinks also come in very fun or classy looking glasses. So far, I have had, along with the drink I have already mentioned, the Cheeky Cheeky, the Porn Star, Irish Goodbye, and the Flirt in the Fruit Isle. They are all delicious and unique in their own ways. The bartenders are a blast too. We had great conversations with them and joked around. The second time we went we got food. I got the fried oysters, my husband got the chicken wings, my niece got the salad and her boyfriend got a chicken sandwich. Everything was fresh and they were cool and brought out my oysters right as they were ready so I had them nice and fresh. The decor... what can I say? Swanky, cool, fun, lots of conversation pieces. We will definitely be back.

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

I've been to several speakeasies around the USA and Gatsby should be the standard of what a…read morespeakeasy should be. No really! Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.

This place is phenomenal and seriously one of the best breakfast places in all of Idaho. I hesitate to say that because there can definitely be a wait because of its popularity, but facts are facts. The steak was incredibly tender and enormous. The homemade biscuit was flaky and perfectly baked. The sausage gravy was meaty and flavorful. And the crispy hashbrowns seemed to cover half the plate. Then there are the house-made jellies. Who does that and how can I get more! The service was prompt and friendly with a great wait staff that made everything easy. The vibe of the restaurant is "friendly neighborhood spot" and feels like home. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. These folks know how to do breakfast right and I cannot wait to go back.
