Great ride from the green belt!! So quaint!!
    Erika J.

It was wine o clock for us at the tavern today! The hostess was so friendly and we love the outdoor seating but chose the bar. Sierra was our waitress and so patient and always checking in. Its a great location with easy parking and we rode our scooters from the green belt! Love it!

Tiny charred sirloin with au gratin potatoes

I had high hopes for the Tavern and had heard good things, but it wasn't meant to be. We ate there this last week and took some out of town friends. The waitress was pleasant, but slow ( very slow). Drinks were drinkable, but again slow. My wife had the Thai Chicken Salad, and she said it was so-so. Their peanut sauce tasted like just some blended peanut butter, very bland. We asked for extra Sriracha sauce but apparently there is only 1 bottle of it in the entire restaurant. I had an 8oz filet which was severely charred and a little tough. Although the au gratin potatoes were good and cheesy. Also, the table we were at was so close to our neighbors table it was almost a little uncomfortable. I probably won't be back too expensive and not worth it

Vibes are absolutely amazing as you enter the Tavern. "Sapphire" was my server and she did wonderful with getting my order in and brought to my table within 15 minutes. Definitely recommend you stop by for happy hour prices are reasonable and the ambiance is pleasant. Thank you Tavern for your service.

Medium size restaurant in Boise with full bar and patio seating. Started with the Brussel sprouts in sweet chili sauce. Never had them prepared like this before , they were pretty amazing! Tavern (French) dip sandwich was very good and the service even better! Bartender was very good and beer was cold! This place was definitely worth the cost of the Uber to get there. Will definitely stop here again when I roll through.

Our party of three arrived around 5:45 for dinner on a Wednesday night. There was a private event upstairs, but our waiter was attentive and brought our drinks quickly. We ordered an appetizer, later ordered our entrees which took more than 45 minutes to arrive. Our waiter was apologetic and kept checking in with us saying the kitchen was very busy. We ordered a second round of drinks. Our food finally arrived. One member of our party ordered salmon. It was not very warm but we didn't want to complain since it had taken so long for our food to arrive. She began to eat from the smallest edge of the filet but got to the middle to find it was still raw. Our server said he'd talked to the manager who took 50 percent off the price of the entree. We were there for two hours. We've been a frequent customer of the Tavern Eagle Island location and have always had great experiences. I want to reiterate our experience had nothing to do with the server; he was gracious, apologetic, and attentive. But we won't be back to this location.

    Kung Pao Calamari

Came in while visiting town. The Kung Pao Calamari was delicious, very good flavor and nice spice to it. I then ordered their special of the day, it was a sirloin with bleu cheese and crunchy onions on top. Steak was a little over cooked than a medium rare but still was great. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us frequently. We got there around 6 and it wasn't busy until later in the evening.

Barbacoa is your place to go for a half entertainment and half great food overlooking the (Parkcenter) Pond for a great time and a great meal - (or not, there is a rooftop bar called Luna where one can imbibe if food is not your jam). This is a second trip to Barbacoa. This trip was perfect as hunger was involved AND a late reservation was needed. Barbacoa really books up, but we were in luck, snagging one of the last reservations on a Friday night! We had a lovely waitress and clean-up guy . Lighter appetites can get by on an appetizer (such as Stuffed Poblano Chile with its namesake Barbacoa Beef). We shared the Calamari Fritti with four different sauces which was lovely in presentation and delish! Saved for next time - they make guacomole table-side! Looks so entertaining and yummy! This review reports that surf and turf were enjoyed! One diner had the Baked Salmon, which was promptly eaten (so it must have been good) and yours truly had the special *American Waygu Ribeye Steak*. Not a staple on the menu, but a GREAT meal, especially if ribeye is a favorite cut! Pro Tip: If there is enough room for dessert, tell them you are here for a special occassion and they produce a cotton candy concoction that is sure to please! They were flying out of the kitchen on this late June Friday night visit. Hang on to your wallet! Not gonna lie, this is a pretty pricey meal, but if in the Boise area, this is a must! There is something for everyone and combined with the entertainment and low state tax ;), worth the trip! We all left happy and full and forgot all about the delayed flight! Another Pro-Tip: Oh and for those with a sense of humor, (or not), there is a small keyhole in the men's bathroom that appears to look directly into the women's room. I don't think they see anything serious, but it is cheeky for sure - ladies, make sure you are fully clothed before walking out! This will be on our regular rotation on future trips to Idaho!

The atmosphere is stunning with incredible artwork, a massive wine wall, and over the top decor that makes it feel like an experience rather than just dinner. The tableside guacamole was absolutely phenomenal and was the highlight of the meal. We also ordered the grilled octopus, carne asada, Hot Rock Filet, and the coulotte steak with Cajun shrimp. The Hot Rock Filet was a fun presentation and cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the coulotte steak was much chewier than expected, although the staff handled it well and removed it from our bill without any hassle. The carne asada itself was good, but the rice wasn't very appealing. The service was friendly but felt a bit chaotic throughout the meal, and the restaurant was noticeably smoky inside, which took away from the experience. Barbacoa is worth visiting at least once for the atmosphere alone, but considering the premium prices, I expected a more polished dining experience.

She truly elevated an already wonderful dining experience. We started the evening with a seafood tower, a bottle of champagne, and the beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was exquisite, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. I also ordered the lobster bisque. While I would have loved a few more chunks of lobster, the broth itself was rich, velvety, and incredibly flavorful. I would happily order it again. The steak selection is outstanding, including premium cuts from Idaho's own Snake River Farms, which was a nice local touch. I chose the ribeye accompanied by scallops, while my wife enjoyed the petite filet. Both were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. To finish, we shared the carrot cake and the butterscotch crème brûlée. Both desserts were outstanding and provided the perfect ending to an exceptional meal.

We had a free appetizer coupon and ordered the Texas Tonion. For entrees he ordered a 12 oz New York strip steak with baked potato and salad and I ordered the 10oz salmon that comes with seasoned rice, a baked potato, and salad. Fresh bread and butter was served, also. The Texas Tonion arrived quickly: hot and delicious. NOT GREASY! I prefer ranch dressing rather than the dip provided and Melannie brought it quickly. The salads were out fast. Tasty. The entrees were delivered long enough after the appetizer and salads so we didn't feel rushed. NICE! I don't enjoy starting an app or salad only to have my hot entree placed in front of me. Good timing here! So, that being said, my potato was warm not hot. His potato was hot and a little dry. His steak was delicious, seasoned nicely without an overabundance of salt, and cooked medium rare as he asked. My salmon was perfect. Again not overly salted but perfectly seasoned. The rice was good. It was a very enjoyable lunch. The atmosphere is conducive for conversation; we didn't have to yell over the music to be heard. Melannie was very attentive, checking back frequently, and brought another soda before I needed to ask. The only other cons, hence the 4 stars, is that my menu was filthy. I asked for a clean one and the hostess found 2 more that were dirty before handing me a clean one. Also, his fork had food stuck to it and my steak knife was greasy before I used it. You can't beat happy hour vibes and birthday celebrations in one visit. Talk about a win win! I was that weird customer and got here exactly at 3 when they opened. To be honest with you, I loved that I got to spec out the bar area before everyone showed up. I got to appreciate the beautiful richness of the bar. It's just stunning. The red just makes the vibe sexy, mysterious and romantic. The tables were all beautifully lit with table lamps. I see people just falling in love with each other over a romantic cocktail here. I didn't really check out the dining area but if the bar area is this romantic, I can only imagine the other half of this joint. Cameron took care of us tonight. While I was waiting for the others to show up, I got myself a coke zero and chilled. I did peep out the menu and of course the happy hour menu. I knew we were in for a real treat. After the girls showed up, an old fashioned and a couple glasses of wine were ordered. And of course we got some food started! Oysters, fried caprese and shrimp cocktail. I know this food line up was going to be banger. One by one our food was coming out. Each appetizer was prettier than the plate before it. The shrimp cocktail was elegantly plated. The fried caprese was delicately garnished with herbs, tomatoes and a balsamic glaze. The oysters looked like they were just brought from the ocean fresh. Presentation was on point. I had to pass on the oysters. I don't eat oysters but I also can't have it cause of the new kidney. But from what I heard, the oysters were fantastic. I started off with the fried caprese, so good! The bread crumbs on the outside were savory and crunchy. The mozzarella in the middle was creamy and slightly melted. With the tomatoes, herbs and glaze in each bite...... wow. The ultimate flavor combo! Sweet, salty, cheesey and crunchy. To only have was hard cause I could have polished all 4! The shrimp cocktail was perfectly halved. Sprinkles of capers and microgreens added some earthy tones to the plate. I appreciate that they were sliced in half. It was easier to eat. I was able to cover each slice with some cocktail sauce. There was a nice heat from the horseradish that wasn't overwhelming. Enough to tickle your nose but not make you blackout. The fresh bread did make an appearance while we were eating. Better late than not getting fresh bread at all! The bread was out of the oven warm. I took a nice piece and slapped some butter on it. Fresh bread and butter will always be the best combo. I love the saltiness from the seasonings on top. It was soft, warm and crusty. I could have came here for a huge chunk of warm bread and left happy. That bread was killer. Cameron was great and got my friend, Laura a piece of limoncello cake for her birthday. Laura saved me a chunk of that slice of heaven. I was outside on a phone call when they started working on it. Grateful my friend was kind and shared her cake with me. Woooooooooww. We were making jokes about saying it would be our birthday every week so we can come in for limoncello cake. It was the perfect dessert to end our meal. I'm so happy we got to come in tonight. Food was chef's kiss. Cameron did a marvelous job taking care of us girls. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. And I loved how diverse the crowd was. The vibe was truly one of a kind unique. I look forward to coming back with my husband and having a romantic dinner here. It started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were disappointing. They were basically just stuffed with sausage and lacked any real flavor or balance. My Hugo Spritz arrived with what looked like only two sips in the glass, which was surprising considering the price. Unfortunately, the entrees were even worse. My mom's steak was served cold, and her twice baked potato looked like it had been made the day before and barely reheated. Another steak and potato were exactly the same. We sent both steaks back, and after waiting quite a while, they came back looking like they had simply been microwaved. Instead of fixing the issue, both steaks were now completely overcooked and dry. We had chicken piccata pasta and that was honestly inedible. My chicken Parmesan was just okay, but the broccolini had such a strong chemical taste that I couldn't eat it. For what should have been a special dinner celebrating my mom's 50th birthday, this was incredibly disappointing. Between the poor food quality, long wait to correct obvious issues, and the fact that the "fix" made the steaks even worse, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. We left frustrated and wishing we had chosen somewhere else for such an important celebration.
