    Chicken Quesadilla and Large Horchata

Visited the Salton Sea and Salvation Mountain today and saw Buckshot diner as a local restaurant for lunch. The reviews were great and decided to eat here for lunch. The hospitality was excellent by Benito, he greeted me and told me about the area. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very homey and relaxing. Not to mention the food I had was excellent. Highly recommend their Mexican food options!

Buckshot is a family-owned restaurant and they provide excellent service and great tasting food! A friend and I stayed at Slab City, and enjoyed both dinner and breakfast here. They both hit the spot, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend this one your way in/out of Slab City, or just rolling through Niland. The chilaquiles with eggs was hands down, the best chilaquiles dish I have ever eaten! I try it wherever I can.

We visited Buckshot with the CVMA on our annual ride to Salton Sea. Vicki was easily able to accompany our large party and the service was excellent! My husband and I had the fish taco plate. 10/10 would recommend trying it if you haven't. They have such a wide variety of options that no one in our party left hungry!

"Down home" perfection. Biscuits & gravy.

Classic old school friendly roadside diner. Camped at the state park last night, planned on a day of hiking & bird watching today, and I wanted a hearty breakfast. Buckshot Diner in Niland was exactly what I wanted. Friendly service. Great coffee. Constant refills. Menu offers anything you want. Biscuits & gravy is hard to do right, but they nailed it, just right. Trust me, next time I'm going north or south on Highway 111, I'll be stopping at the Buckshot Diner. Oh, and they have cheap prices, as if everything wasn't already great. Cheap makes everything even better.

Chilaquiles best I have ever had. Amazing food, a must stop. Owners are so kind. The foods flavor was amazing.

We stopped here on the way back from Salvation Mountain. We knew we were in the right place when our drinks came out--in glasses nearly twice the size of anywhere else. Jamaica, horchata and limonata--all wonderful. Chips and green salsa were tasty. We ordered the Birria Plate, Combination Plate with chile relleno, and the Carne Asada plate. Corn and flour tortillas are homemade, the refried beans have a great smoky taste, and we all ate our plates clean. I would dock 1/2 star because there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, but I let the gentleman know as we were leaving. Overall, we recommend!

A group of us had an adventure day in the area yesterday and ended it with a late lunch here. Food was great, service was exceptional and staff members are very welcoming AND humorous! 12/10 will definitely go back!

    Menu as of 9/5/21.

My family and I stopped by here for lunch after visiting Salvation Mountain. The owner is full of jokes. He likes to ask people coming in if they have a reservation and if not he can help you make one for $50. He also gave my 9 year old son a bill for $180 for our lunch and asked if he was going to pay. When he said no, he game me the actual bill (closer to $55). They give you flour tortilla chips and really good red and green salsa to munch on while you wait for your food. I liked the flavor of the green salsa more - it had a nice smoked flavor. Food takes a while but we all enjoyed what we got. My family ordered the cheeseburger, chicken torta, beef burrito, beef enchilada, and chicken enchilada. We also got the horchata and Jamaica agua Fresca. Soooo refreshing on such a hot day! I had a side salad as well and the iceberg lettuce and cucumbers were fresh and crisp. When we left I asked if he had takeaway cups so we could take the rest of our drinks to go and the owner was so kind, he gave us these humongous cups (think Super Big Gulp size) and refilled them to the brim with more agua fresca and helped me carry them to the car (because my family went to the car first and I couldn't hold both huge cups on my own while holding my leftovers...). This is a nice place to stop for friendly service and good food while touring around the Salton Sea area! Enjoy!

Authentic Mexican food. Best horchata I've ever had. Not fancy but friendly and reasonable prices. Try the dates they sell.

Such a charming little place. Very reasonable prices, friendly service, and food that is better than the nicest diners I've been to.

What a beautiful setting with the mountains in the background and the Sultan sea in the front. I ordered: eggs sausages, hash browns, Rye bread, a short stack of pancakes, and biscuits and gravy. It was hearty and delicious. For a restaurant that is in the middle of nowhere, they know how to make a good breakfast! Friendly: 5 Stars***** Service: 4 Stars**** Pancakes: 3 Stars*** Eggs: 3 Stars*** Biscuits and gravy: 4 Stars**** Sausages: 4 Stars**** Hash Browns: 3 Stars*** Pricing: 3 Stars*** Remember, as far as buying food or drinks you are in the middle of nowhere, so the cost is not cheap. I was told they go shopping every Wednesday for supplies, so understand that when purchasing something! But the people are super nice and friendly and that makes up for pricing in my book.
