Is there a better mountain bar? No. Cheap drinks, great atmosphere, good food.

Its a true experience to have been at the Bucksnort and even more an experience of being a traveling salesman at conferences of people from afar who have visited this gem. If your looking for a good time this is your place for rustic fair and a place to say you've been because its long history has its list of celebrities yet you'll be surprised at how many people have been here although they have only visited Denver once or twice. read more

Do not go for the food; burgers were over cooked with no seasoning, salad was small for the price, and service was slow at best. It you brag about having the best burgers around, then you really should be the best! The atmosphere was cool, but that place sure does need some updates. The women's bathroom was pretty scary. It's an experience, would I venture there again? Probably not. read more

Just went to the Bucksnort a couple of weeks ago. I went a couple of years ago too. I could not wait to take my hubby. The food was really good, I had a nice big burger ( I ate all of which is very unusual) and my hubby had a bowl of chili with a baked potato. We had a great beer and the music was fun. Only thing I wish is that they served french fries but definitely not a deal breaker. Definitely a fan! read more

This place is one of a kind. If you like going back in time stop by here and have a burger and beer. The wood floors are uneven and the fire is burning in the corner - what a unique atmosphere. Love it! read more

We will never go back after we asked for our burgers to be well done and were told they only cook them medium rare! We are locals and a few months ago my wife got sick from eating a raw burger here. Tracy the waitress was extremely rude when I pointed out the fact the menu states it's unsafe to eat raw meat!!! She said I know what it says and rudely told me to go somewhere else if I did no like it! We did and will report it to the Health Department that they force you to eat raw meat! Insane and a lawsuit waiting to happen! read more

The best dive bar I've ever been to hands down! Seriously, thank you for keeping Antler Ale on tap. If you are in Pine, don't miss the historic Buck Snort. Right when you walk in, you know it's a unique experience. Highly recommend if you are up for it. It's not a typical place to eat. But I love their burgers. And did I mention Antler Ale?! I've been here twice. The first time was great: Good burgers and decent service. Exactly what we wanted: a pile of grease, topped with other fatty foods at a dive in backwoods, S. Platte, Colorado. The next time, we arrived at 7:00PM on Sunday and were lately alerted that the kitchen would close. We were forced to order from the sandwich menu. The sandwiches were extremely overpriced (though decent, but I would have expected to pay $5-6 for a sandwich of its caliber), delivered slowly (30+ minutes?), and also not even the sandwiches we ordered. It wouldn't have been a big deal if the inadequacies had been addressed by a free round of drinks, etc. It seemed like the Bucksnort took advantage of us because they probably knew we would not be back through anytime soon. After paying nearly $15 for a ham sandwich I could have made easily with fixings from the corner store, I will not be going back. read more

We had one of the worst lunches we can remember. The stove happened to be out of order, so we had to order off of the sandwich menu. Big mistake. The bread was totally dried out, fell apart in my hands as I tried to squeeze on some mayonnaise from the little packets (hate those things). The sandwich consisted of one thin piece of ham, one thin piece of turkey, two pieces of cheese, and maybe a small piece of lettuce and tomato. It was horrible; would have done better to make a sandwich at home. We also had some of the worst chips, salsa, and guac that we've ever had. About 1/3 of the chips were burnt (how do you burn chips?), and they tasted burnt. We asked if the salsa was handmade, they said yes, of course it was like Pace Picante out of a jar. We love salsa but after one or two bites that was all we could stand. And the guac was like some kind of guac spread out of a tub. We spent $33 without getting any drinks, and for the next 3 days whenever we ate somewhere else we would comment to each other how much better where we were now compared to "Bucksnot". The only thing that was good was the old building and the river nearby, but we're not brave enough to go back for any reason. read more

I have enjoyed buck snort for years. Used to be one of my favorite places to stop for burgers and beers. Stopped there yesterday, was charged $100 for burgers and beers. (party of five )And the burgers were raw. When we politely complained, we were told sorry and then the waitress wouldn't come back to our table. We had to go to the bar to pay. very disappointing and I doubt if I will ever go back!!! Shame shame read more

If it were possible to give 5 stars for the nostalgia I would. We took the very long and windy and potentially dangerous trek to The Buck Snort for a tribute to a dear family member who passed away and had previously put his business card on the wall. Website gave open hours for a Friday and got all the way there to find it closed and barely a sign indicating why. Checked in and took a picture and headed back down the mountain to have lunch at Zoka's which was great. Not sure we'll make it back to find that card, which would be very meaningful. read more

Yes it is for sale...yes it is only open Fri Sat Sun...maybe other days but you should call ahead just in case...no they do not have the greatest food...BUT it has great views...it is in the middle of a tiny town in the mountains of Colorado...it has a very rustic, going back in time atmosphere...old Colorado Saloon just like one of the reviewers said...no TVs so you have to talk to your friends...it has good cold beer...good outside area with views of the river and mountains...I think I will be back just to see who buys it...look at the pictures because it does give you a good idea of what it is like inside...very cool if you take it for what it is....a unique place... read more

Yuk, this place has turned into the worst place ever. Lousy food that took forever to get then came out luke warm. Prices are too high for what you get. Had a Taco Salad that was the worse I have ever gotten. There were six of us and we will never go back there again. I suggest thinking about going someplace else if you are in the area. read more

The Buck Snort Saloon is not for the faint hearted. It's a typical old Colorado Saloon,.If you were Colorado raised, you'll most likely appreciate it. If you are a East Coast, West Coast transplant you will probably find something to complain about! read more

We have not been here for food or drink in several years. We will not consider returning either after yesterday's experience. We ordered the 1/2lb Buck Burger which we planned to share. When it arrived it was brought by the cook who looked like he had been doing a transmission oil change. We could not identify the mass between the bun but it looked like something to acclimate us to consuming dog food. We have been to many mountain towns and enjoyed some of the best burgers, but the Bucksnort no longer holds that attraction. After returning home we both had a case of intestinal discomfort reminding us that we should have had only a bottled beer and enjoyed the drive. read more

buck snort is really SPHINX PARK IN PINE COLO,I have been going there since it was own by to great old couple. We square Danced sat nite I was 16, with a fake ID so I was drinking.haha..We had a 200 acre ranch east of pine my grandparents Ross and Agatha Mcguire lived there and we came up every weekend, I would work at grandpas sawmill sat and sun then at a 1.00 an hr would take my wage and grandpa would drive my sister Launa to Sphixn park and we would dance BORINGGG.. YESbut right inside the door was a food store for everyone up there to by food and a great Candy section with candy 3 for a penny. it was great walking thru the store to get to the back ( kind of like the 20s) and once you entered the back wow a large---- stop lets go back to the store, my grandma (dont get mad at me now ,Times were different) wanted me to buy her a dime bag ( a little paper bag with about 20 pc.s inside) of nigger babies...small licorice baby shaped candy..soo good. fresh bread everywhere and Animal heads hanging all over..mmmmmm.. OK 1920s yes you entered the dance hall 1968 square dance..later..... in Evergreen high school 1970 18 yrs of age then a Denver policeman and his wife now owning it ,, A very wild place.. where do i start ? ( get ready for short sentences...). Cowboys everywhere, hippies no where , they show up we chase out,, Fight starts , everyone back for a beer.. no square dancing but lots of dancing ha ha, drunks wanta fight they go out , one drages other back in and loser buys beer, one last memory, 1 am. bar closes, we dont.. buy beer go to river, large bon fire, lots of beer, lots of loven yesss great nites great women and guys i miss...up on the Hill? a car racing dn toward us, 2 red lites flashing,on top everyone leaves the fire& runs across the foot high river to hide,, car pulls up next to fire ? its the guys on a BEER run they stole 2 yellow flashing street lites from a sign ( painted them red) and held them on their car while racing back.. We drove 2 hours just to go to the Buck Snort Saloon, had heard rave reviews about the burgers. We love to eat at "hole in the wall" type places. Unfortunately after two hours of sitting on their side patio with my two small children, baking in the sun, and dodging bees, we never even got to try the food. The staff was so unorganized our ticket was lost in the shuffle, we were told the food takes awhile so we didn't want to bug them, so we waited, and waited, and waited. It was also quite busy, and we wanted to give them the the benefit of the doubt that they were swamped. We were given our drinks when we ordered, but you can't suck on a can of pop for 2 hrs. We had 6 in our party, with two separate tickets. They brought the food out to half of our party, the other half never ate. The half of our party that did end up eating said the burger was not worth the wait. We finally asked about our food and they had no clue as to what we ordered, where the ticket went, or anything. We walked out completely starving and with two very grumpy children. We had settled with a bar maid that we shouldn't have to pay for the drinks. She half-heartedly agreed. The half of the party that did get food, paid their ticket, although, they figured out later that the ticket they paid for wasn't even theirs, because they never got to see it till the transaction was over. So in the end they paid for someone else's food and drinks. I understand that it's a dive bar, but even dive bars should follow rules of cleanliness, it was in no sense of the word "clean". The bathroom was out of toilet paper, out of soap, and paper towels. The floor was soaked. The table outside where were sitting was splintery and the bench almost collapsed on my 6 yr old. The parking situation is horrible. I was walking back from the bathroom and was almost run over by a biker, whom couldn't wait the second it would take for me to walk past. I took it as he purposely charged me with his bike, probably after drinking in excess. We also witnessed an elderly man walking with a walker almost get hit by a car whom REALLY wanted a parking spot in the front of the bar. Another car actually hit the side patio where we were sitting when trying to whip into the parking lot. It was the most ridiculous situation I have ever encountered. I will never waste my time with this place again. I am furious at the treatment we received. I can't even say a word about the food, as none passed my lips. I would recommend this place to no one. read more
