I hadn't been to Best Cuts in ages. Glad I came back. The vibe is one of getting a no-frills cut at a no-frills price. Fast, efficient, and wallet-friendly. I had a clipper-cut and eyebrows done. Cindy was awesome. I really like the cut and love that she understood what a guy would want in cleaning up my eyebrow area. Maybe next time, I'll pay to get the wash and won't have the short hairs coming off my head for hours. (That's why my rating is four and not five stars.) Do not recommend this place, I hear a lot of good things about Ann but the dude in there is very unfriendly I get it you might not like conversations but jesus christ try to not make it like an interrogation. My 12-year-old daughter went in with her father to have her hair cut. She had a knot in her hair and was hoping the hair stylist could work through it and cut 1 inch from the bottom. The hairstylist not only cut the knot out without my daughter's or husband's consent, she continued to cut telling her "If my brush can't go through your hair I will keep cutting". My daughter said she begged her to stop. Unfortunately, my husband was not aware of what was transpiring. My daughter ended up losing over 6 inches of her hair and left the shop traumatized and with a short bob. The hair will grow back but no one, especially a child, should be subjected to that kind of treatment. read more

I've been in here a few times. The first three times I went here, the woman who cut my hair did a great job. I wish I had gotten her name. I then I got a guy who did an ok job. It was a haircut. Today, I got a woman maybe in her 30's with longer straight hair. OMG it is freakin horrible. I told her I wanted my hair trimmed a little to clean things up and told her it had been about 3 weeks since I had it last cut. She then proceeded to run quickly and clippers over my entire head for 4-5 minutes and then said done. The whole time, she kept looking at her watch like she was late for an appointment. My hair is now standing straight up everywhere. Even worse, it's uneven and patchy in places. Pretty much I just got the "I'm too lazy to make an effort" haircut. My husband and son have been getting their hair here for the past few months and I love it. No it's not fancy, you won't feel like you are at a spa, but you will get an excellent boy's or man's haircut at a fantastic price. My son is 21 months old and Anne is incredibly good at cutting his hair, she does a full scissor cut and uses the little electric trimmers and he sits through it like a champ with minimal wiggling. First of all - we walked in on them having lunch and then they made us wait 5 minutes while they finished their lunch without saying a word to us and they looked directly at us.Their door was wide open so it was not like they were closed for lunch. Next, the man cuts my sons hair and he was very rude, telling my 5 year old to sit still and next time "you better sit up straight". No "bedside" manner at all. I had my bangs trimmed at a great clips location about a month or so ago... and the lady really did a chop job. They had grown out past my eyebrows and had been curling them under trying to get them to where they were close to an even length. My coworker suggested i try this place- it was convenient because i was able to go during lunch ( I work in the area). What a pleasant experience! I was able to walk in and be seen in less than 10 mins. The girl that did my trim was nice and explained what she was doing and was able to even out the previous hack job and i was able to walk out actually NOT hating my hair. Initially, my plan was to get a haircut at the Supercuts over by Southhampton; however, they gave me a wait time of 45 minutes so I just decided to look for another place. I pulled out my phone and noticed that this place was nearby and it had great reviews. I was willing to try it out in hopes that it would be a pleasant experience- granting the fact that I've never been to any other salons in the area, let alone stray away from Supercuts. Overall, my barber, Phuong, did a wonderful job with my haircut and I immediately noticed a difference in the way she did her work. She put a great sense of detail when when she was cutting my hair compared to the "just get it over with" kind of fashion Supercuts barbers do their work. Half my sons head was covered in bald spots. It seems his time where his mother cuts his hair at home has come to an end. How can I possibly convince my toddler to sit still in a funky chair while a stranger approaches him with scissors? Best Cuts was really understanding, patient and helpful for this situation. I prepared my son with youtube videos showing other men and children getting their hair cut. He seemed ready until he came to the salon. Even the promise of ice cream next door couldn't convince him to approach the chair. No big deal, the staff offered a basket of toys for him to play with until he was ready. After about 20 minutes, I realize my son was just avoiding the situation. So we offer him toys to hold while sitting in the chair. No deal. We offer him to sit in mom's lap on the chair. Hmmm. Okay, he'll sit in the chair in my lap, but the wearing the cape? Forget it. In short, it was quite a process. But the staff stuck it out. They weren't going to let my wiggly son leave with the bald spots I bestowed on his head that morning. In the end (like an hour and a half later) my son had a stylish fade and said "Hey, I look sharp." He loved it and told everyone about his new haircut. He was so comfortable he let me stay and get my haircut and eyebrows done (thank goodness for that basket of toys). If I could give this place less than one star I would. For starters, I am an African American woman, and my daughters are bi-racial. I came here to bring my daughter who has wavy hair in for a haircut - the moment I walked in, everyone stared at us like we were from another planet, and when I said "Hi!" The male (hair-stylist) said "what do you want?" I said my daughter wants a hair cut and they all just stood there and stared at me-- no response. This felt like in your face, blatant racism, and even if they aren't skilled at cutting wavy/curly hair, why couldn't they greet me and tell me nicely that they aren't skilled at cutting that hair type? I don't recommend this place to anyone in Benicia. I've lived here for nearly 20 years and have always felt welcome in every store, shop, boutique I have ever been to until now. The lady who cut my hair had very fast hands. When it looked like my haircut was done she then began the fine tuning. She did a thorough job shaping my head and checking for stray hairs that may have missed. I was impressed by the attention to detail and the end result was a great haircut at a very reasonable price.
