We had such a fun evening celebrating Buddha Thai Bistro's 16th anniversary, and you could feel the excitement as soon as we walked in. The celebration was festive, the drinks were flowing, and there was a great selection of appetizers to enjoy. As a foodie, I really appreciate a restaurant that knows how to bring bold Thai flavors to the table while still keeping the food approachable. Buddha Thai does a nice job putting its own creative spin on traditional favorites. Their menu includes everything from the award-winning Pad Thai and Drunk Man Noodles to Khao Soi and Thai street food specialties. The presentation is also part of the experience. There's something about a beautifully prepared Thai dish with layers of aromatic herbs, spices, sauces, and textures that gets your taste buds going before you even take that first bite. I also like that the menu has plenty of choices for different dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan dishes such as Green Curry and Hawaiian Fried Rice. It's nice when plant-based options are treated as flavorful dishes of their own rather than an afterthought. The atmosphere adds to the experience too. The exposed brick, hanging silks, cozy setting, and relaxed vibe give the restaurant plenty of personality. I've had their food several times, eat in or takeout. The food is consistent and delicious. Just make sure to tell the server regarding how spicy you want your food. Their food has fresh ingredients and is prepared quickly. I feel like it takes only about 15 minutes after I ordered it before it's ready. We chose a pick up for today. We tried the crab Rangoon which had five pieces in it. Our group liked it. The kids chicken was good, the green emerald curry with veggie extra eggplant, Panang curry with chicken and drunkman noodle with steak also a success. I forgot to get before pictures. We got zero or one spice level on the food and only one of the dishes turned out for one person the other three thought it was good. So I feel like they're Respectful when we try to get low spice. I am very new to Thai food, but a friend wanted to check this restaurant out for her birthday. And I am glad I was open minded, as it was a really good experience. We arrived in town late for our reservation and they still accommodated us with no issues. Everything we had from the sampler, lettuce wraps, drunken noodles to the curry were delicious. The drinks were not super strong, but they were good and it came in a cute little Buddha. They have a private parking area for customers and I appreciated the very clean bathroom. Had a reservation Christmas Day at 7pm and arrived 15 minutes early - it was packed! Every worker was running around constantly. There was no one standing at the host stand but I was sat by 7:05pm. I've been on the hunt to find great thai food in the Jacksonville area, and Buddha Thai Bistro's Thai Street Food Specials has delivered some of the best I've had so far. I had the Naam Lum Yai (Longan Juice) to drink, which was a sweet fruit juice that I would compare to lychee. It was delicious, and definitely something to try if you like a sweet, non-alcoholic drink. The two special menu items that I tried were the Moo Ping (Grilled Pork Skewers) and Thai Boat Noodle Soup with pork. The grilled pork skewers were simple but tasted great. They came three to an order and were a great, protein forward appetizer to the meal. I also tried their vegan wings, which is a unique dish I haven't seen anywhere else in the area. My favorite dish was their Thai Boat Noodle Soup. I find it hard to discover delicious soups that are filling and deliver in strong flavors, but this one absolutely hits those marks. It had a great combination of savory and sweet, which was totally unexpected but worked together beautifully. The broth alone was so delicious, and the sliced pork really elevated the dish. I also enjoyed the noodle choice. The chef did a great job with this one. The meal as a whole was well balanced, and I left feeling with my tummy feeling satisfied. This special menu will return on Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th, and I highly recommend you stop in for that amazing soup!!! Although I did not get a chance to try a cocktail, their menu was extremely creative, and from what I saw on their account, each drink is presented in a really fun display. I came here for a girlfriend's birthday dinner and we all had a great time. I got the coconut Tom kha soup with chicken and I also added a side of Jasmine rice. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. I chose level three for my spice level and it was perfect. The jasmine rice really helped offset a little bit of the spice from the soup. 10/10 would definitely get this again when looking up the menu to make sure I have the name correct I also saw that their online price is the same as dining in the restaurant so I appreciate when restaurants do that as well. I also had enough leftover to take some home as well. We had great service no complaints. Can't wait to come back and try something new. read more

Sooooo many choices for someone gluten-free! It's refreshing to go to an Asian restaurant that uses Tamari that is gluten free and authentic rather than American made soy sauces that are full of ingredients not intended for Asian dishes! We had not been here in a while - and I really don't know why - so we will definitely put this back into our go-to's. Our server was prompt and friendly and also made our cocktails perfectly. The atmosphere is quite comfortable and inviting. I wish the place had more people dining in tonight, but we could see they have strong takeout and delivery business and we're grateful for that. read more

My trip to Jacksonville was brought to you by Buddha Belly... I guess it's actually called Buddha Thai Bistro, but it will always be known as Buddha Belly to me. We ordered takeout from here on July 3rd to gear up for the 4th festivities, as you got to go into the 4th with a full belly. The one regret was that we only ordered 1 of the drunken noodles and 1 Shu Mai Thai dumpling appetizer. I guess that's 2 regrets, but whatever. The next day while sitting at Lemon Bar, 3 too many High Noons deep and a couple of Zyns tucked high and tight, I was fighting for my life. My big bro had his spidey senses tingle and said "should order Buddha Belly again and ride the bikes back to the house so it gets there at the same time...?" This idea was up there with fighting a war for our Independence over a 3% stamp tax 248 years ago. What better to celebrate our independence from Tyranny? Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. He proceeds to order $220 worth of Buddha Belly, and it gets there 2 minutes after we finished the bike ride home. God is the perfect planner. In total, we got 5 orders of Chicken Curry Puffs, 4 orders of Shu Mai Dumplings, 2 Pad Thais, 2 Drunken Noodles, and a Curry. All of that for 5 people lol. We learned from our mistakes. Fool me once... The Drunken noodles were head and shoulders the MVP. It seems Pad Thai gets more love than Drunken Noodles in general, and I don't know why. It's oddly similar to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. We WAY over-ordered, but ended up having the leftovers for lunch the next day. My order at this restaurant via Uber Eats came to $65.72 for 1 pad see ewe, 1 satay, 1 gyoza. The delivery address was a hotel. This restaurant provided zero napkins, zero utensils, zero plates, etc. I could have eaten from the container and been fine but the least they could do is either offer a place to indicate a need for said items on order or provide as a courtesy to orders going to visitors in hotels. Spending this amount of money with no utensils provided is either thoughtless or very poor customer service. read more

Well our family was not able to make it to town for Thanksgiving so we were trying to debate what we should for for the 2 of us, 1 being vegan and 1 meat eater.... Low and behold a posting popped up for Buddha for their 10th annual Vegan Thanksgiving Buffet! It's not often the vegan gets a whole buffet to pick from and we don't have to cook and make a big mess in kitchen for just 2 ppl so we made a reservation. We arrived right on time and promptly led to our table. I was worried when made reservation they were gonna be packed but it was only half full whole time we were there. Food was very good, lots of choices! They also had bottomless mimosas but we decided to eat more and drink less haha We will def come back and try items from regular menu. The shumai were the only disappointment- the filling was very dry. The Thai egg rolls were good though. My crispy honey duck was a half of duck - great crispy skin and beautifully cooked and moist. The first time I came here it was a bit confusing because there's a big sign that says Buddha Belly but they had to change their name because there was another restaurant with the same. Just make sure you look for the giant Buddha out front you can't miss it. The staff is always friendly and the service is always good. It's a very comfortable place with many booths , which I really appreciate having a bad back. I'm all about comfy places to sit in a restaurant. I didn't even need a menu this time because I knew I was having, a big bowl of the delicious soup.Tom Kha Gai is served in a big bowl with lots of chicken accompanied by slices of onion and red and green pepper. The coconut flavor mix with the lemon grass and lime make it perfect. I always ask for some chili sauce on the side and turn up the spice. My friend ordered her favorite which is Pad Thai. We were both very surprised when it came out as the chef makes it into a sort of omelette. When you cut it open, there are all the noodles inside. She requested for a spice level 2 and said it was plenty spicy enough. She said it had a really good flavor and enjoyed it. Had lunch today at Buddha Thai Bistro. We heard about it through friends and had an incredible and delicious lunch. Real authentic Thai food and everything to the peanut sauce is made home made. I would love to try their roti and much more next time. We had the chicken satay (chicken is marinated in curry so it is super soft and juicy) appetizer and their sauces/ salads were amazing. We also had the ahi tuna "martini" which was great too. I had the Massaman Curry with beef. You can choose your protein for any curry's and entrees. The Massaman Curry is a Thai-stew style, slowly simmered in coconut milk and peanut with hearty portions of beef, potatoes, carrots and onions. My husband had the orange chicken and said "it was the best orange chicken he has ever had." The staff was super friendly and everything tasted home made and made from scratch.
