I really wanted to love this place. It was a bit out of the way for where I was, but I ventured out to meet some fam and a friend for lunch. This restaurant is inside the springhill suites hotel. It's absolutely beautiful. Beachside with high floor to ceiling windows. The view is absolutely breathtaking and there's seating right outside the restaurant for people watching and snacks in between surfing and time on the beach. The staff here is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks here are quite stiff and pack a good flavor punch. There are a lot of options for beer and wine, but the cocktails are really good. My table ordered the flatbread, a salad, the wings, kids chicken tenders and fries, Cajun shrimp pasta, the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and multiple cocktails and soft drinks. For the most part everyone enjoyed their food and the experience. The only gripe I had was the sauce for the Cajun shrimp pasta. It was mostly oil. The blackened shrimp were cooked perfectly. So tender and not overcooked, flavor was perfect and there was at least 6-7 of them for the whole dish. The sauce had very little flavor and the amount of oil the pasta was swimming in, was a tad bit off putting. Pasta was a little overcooked, but still had great texture. The flatbread was so bomb. The table next to us ordered crab cakes, which looked and smelled amazing. I'll for sure be back and that's exactly what I'll order. We got out under $230 and had leftovers. 9 out of 10 recommend. read more

We went on a Wednesday evening. We were staying at the hotel and figured it would be easy to get a bite downstairs. The service was extremely slow, but they were clearly under staffed. The bartender was also serving tables. The appetizers were so good. The Carribean Flatbread is the best thing we had all night. We really should have ordered another round of apps. The main entrees were all very underwhelming. The space is a nice size. The outside patio facing the pier is so nice at night. We went back on another night and ended up having only drinks watching the beach and pier. Overall It's good for a hotel restaurant but I recommend being patient when you go. read more

Servers and workers are excellent!!! Ambience is by far one of the best as you are literally staring at the ocean. But food, not anywhere what you would expect. Fits hotel food, so know that. We placed orders for a cocktail on the menu and it was $44 for an old fashion. Uhm what? Then crab cakes and empanadas. The crab cakes had quinoa or something in them that tasted like sawdust. The empanadas were better. We got the beef and it was good but nothing spectacular. The view and the service is what has this play going! read more

Had an engagement party at sandbar.... Everyone going great until we tried to order food then the general manager told us we were "overstaying our welcome". We stopped in here for a nightcap. The location is great within the Springhill Suites hotel. It is located at the rear of the hotel with great views of the pool and the beach. The bartender was friendly and pretty swift recognizing he was servicing the whole bar area at that point in the evening. Was in Jax Beach for the Springing the Blues festival which was located a block from the hotel, so location was great. Had occasion to partake of the Sandbar several times during my 3 night stay and was very pleased with the food and service. For food I had originally ordered the crab cakes and was surprised when they arrived "cajun style" which was not noted on the menu. I spoke to the manager, Matt, who told me they had just changed the menu but hadn't gotten new ones yet. He gladly removed it from my bill. The smash burger was great as was the Sunday brunch breakfast bowl. The staff, Grace, hostess extraordinaire, was great. Helpful and personable. Bartenders Vinny and Jesus were great, good conversation and drinks. Others working when I was there, Russell and Valeriya, and the manager Matt, all seeming to hustle and keeping the place running and I saw no complaints from other customers while there. Pretty well run shop and I have been in a few similar places in my time. read more

I haven't been in a while. My girl friends and I were looking for Martinis and an ocean vibe. We found Martinis but the weather was uncooperative so we were pushed inside and no ocean vibe. The bar was pretty vacant but as people did arrive the noise level became almost deafening. Lots of echoing! First on the scene I was greeted by our jovial server Joey. He was new but so entertaining and gracious. The girls arrived and we had several cocktails and some snacks. I really do like this place and the scenery is amazing. The view and the vibe were the absolute best part! Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Jacksonville pier, the views are beautiful! Service was pretty quick for a Saturday afternoon! We chose this place because we were staying in the hotel. We ordered the chips and salsa and it was okay. The chips were a little stale, but the salsa was pretty good. All of us thought our sandwiches were just okay. I ordered the smash burger and it was very dry. There was not enough sauce to make it juicy. The Surfer chicken was not very flavorful, and was missing that "jerk" taste. The Southwest Chicken sandwich was a little chewy and just eh flavor. The service by Valariya was horrible. She needs to be educated or self-educate herself when a guest says the need gluten free food. Multiple times I had to ask if specific food was gluten free. She had to go ask the kitchen. Then, having to supplement non-GF for something else, expect to pay their standard up charge. The menu had blackened Mahi sandwich. I asked and ordered grilled Mahi sandwich. They scraped off the blackened topping and served as grilled Mahi Mahi. Sandbar is located inside the Springhill Suites Hotel. The hotel was buzzing on the Saturday afternoon that we visited. The restaurant is located right off the pool area & there were lots of young people coming in for frozen drinks. Girls in bikinis & guys with surfboards going by. The restaurant itself is small but bright & has a killer view of the ocean. Outside there is a long standup ledge where you can see the beach while sipping your drink. Our server was efficient & friendly. However our order took a long time to come out of the kitchen & the fried calamari that we ordered as an appetizer came out with the food. The server did apologize as she thought we wanted it with the meal. All four of us enjoyed our meals. They were a good value for the price. We had crab cakes, mahi tacos, chicken tacos, jerk chicken bowl & the fried calamari appetizer. The only negative comment about the food was that the calamari was too salty. My jerk chicken bowl needed a sauce & when I mentioned it to our server she suggested a crème that she could bring. That totally elevated my dish & I suggest the restaurant serve it on the side. I definitely will return to try some frozen drinks and to take in the ocean view. Chatting with the management on the way out I mentioned the super lively vibe & noise level. He suggested the week days are quieter. Also, pro tip on parking : the hotel has a parking lot beneath it. The charge is $17. The Sandbar is a hidden gem. I normally go for drinks and the view. Sitting outside with a drink and people watching is the best. But this time I enjoyed dinner with friends. It's an open air restaurant located in the Springhill Suites hotel. To get to the restaurant you have to go through the hotel to the second floor. You cannot access from the boardwalk unless you are a guest staying there. Your view includes the Jax. Beach Pier, the boardwalk and of course the ocean! Wednesday is 1/2 bottles of wine, $10 flatbreads and several other specials from 5pm - 10pm. Started off with the pineapple salsa and chips. The pineapple salsa is fresh and delicious. The portion size could be a little larger. Our entrées included the Smash Burger, Jerk Chicken Rice Bowl, side Caesar salad, and french fries with ranch. Everything was tasty with really great ranch dressing! The prices are reasonable with a laid back vibe. The servers were great. I look forward to next time! read more

Went here for brunch. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Springhill Suites on Jax Beach at the pier. There is outdoor seating that is bar service as well as indoor seating. The views are good as it is on the beach. The brunch dishes come with 2 complimentary bloody Mary's or mimosas which is a great deal. The Bloody Mary was well made and spicy. I had the chicken and waffles which comes with hot honey. My wife had the breakfast tacos and we shared some biscuits and gravy. The chicken was hot and delicious. The waffles were good but after the hot honey soaked into them it overpowered the taste of the waffle. The tacos were good and filled with ingredients. The house made fries were crispy and cooked nice. The gravy was really good but unfortunately had cooled off and was only lukewarm. The brunch was a good value for the food. I took a friend to this new spot Friday night. We sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. I loved the ambiance and vibe. Laid back with a low-key beach theme. Windows can close into walls, if needed. Our side was open. I like the ahi tuna, seared to just right. That ginger was fresh and spicy! My friend had the pepperoni flatbread, which was yummy. It reminded me of that elementary school pizza that you always looked forward to. I'm not sure how to explain. Hahaha, try it and see if you know what I mean. Food was excellent. Wings a good meaty size. Son loved the calamari and the chicken was very tasty and well seasoned. The barbecue sauce was such a great blend of sweet and spice that I asked for a Togo cup. Loved loved loved the fresh salad and I am not a salad person. Perfect size, ate the whole thing. Our waitress was fantastic and had the patience of a saint. The loss of a star is primarily for an environmental preference. I hate like HATE, with an irrational fear, bugs. This is truly an outdoorsy type restaurant. Even though it is on the 2nd floor of the hotel, all the sliding door/wi does are open to simulate the 'beach' feel. This means all the dragon flies and flies find a home inside the restaurant and unless you sit at a table with a breeze, it's a buggy experience. Lastly, the chairs are not for larger size people. Very uncomfortable. They did allow me to change seats and I found a table closer to the hotel entrance, which was very breezy, and they brought me in a chair from the pool area and my entire experience changed and was way more enjoyable. read more

The sauce on the shrimp left a ton of oil at the bottom of the dish and a lot of be desired. The prices were pretty steep for mediocre food. The service was ok, but everything took a while even with not many people there. Now, the view is pretty spectacular from the restaurant and you can even see the ocean from sitting inside. I've been looking for a place to bring out-of-towners where we can enjoy an ocean view while we get a meal and drinks. This restaurant and bar on the second floor of Springhill Suites fits the bill perfectly. There are tables and a long row of chairs facing the ocean and the Jacksonville Beach pier. The food is also interesting and delicious. An appetizer of Brussels sprouts -- something I've never liked anywhere else -- has a nice Asian glaze and sits on thin noodles. My whole table enjoyed it. My chicken tacos as an entree were solid beach grub and my companions like their burgers. Even locals might not know this place is here. They should seek it out. read more

Stopped here for an app and a drink before a late dinner reservation. A cute little bar area tucked into the hotel! The views from the bar was amazing- directly at nothing but ocean. We had a couple drinks, super reasonable prices and some tasty concoctions to select from. I had the Bourbon Mango Smash, my partner had a couple G&T (the house gin is Roku, which is a nice pour!) We also got the crispy Brussels, which were better than anything we had at dinner ha! Really enjoyed them, slightly spicy slightly sweet, really good.
