Gosh...where to start. I've been to many of the top steakhouses around the US and the rest of the world. I can honestly say that the Porterhouse was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten...probably Top 2. It was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious, flavored to perfection, and perfectly cooked throughout. God was it good. I wish I would have been hungry enough to have another the next day, because it was truly divine. Had mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese for sides, and those were very good as well. Had better of each at various other steakhouses, but they were no doubt very delicious, and did not disappoint. The bread with the butter and chives was great as well. You don't see butter with chives very often (at least not for bread) and it had a very unique flavor, that was very tasty. Service: A lot of people seem to dislike the service. The service was okay...just okay. It wasn't what I would expect from a steakhouse with those prices. Normally those prices yield a 2-3 person waitstaff per table, tending to absolutely every need, constantly making sure the water/drinks don't get less than 1/2 full, using the crumb scoopers, changing out your utensils for you, etc. The service at Budd's was very chain-like, like you would expect at any ordinary restaurant. Yet everything was still accomplished, and our waiter was most definitely very attentive. Not once were we having to look for him, which is good. There was also a comment below about the manager presumably yelling and beating down a waitress for screwing up. Perhaps most of the people in the Tri-Cities are used to chain restaurants, but when I spend $250+ on dinner for two, I expect perfection. When I'm giving the waiter/waitress potentially a $50+ tip, s/he better have his or her shit together. It's not a job at Denny's. You mess up, you get yelled at. I'm perfectly okay with that. On the night of our visit, the General Manager (I'm guessing...he was the only guy in the suit) picked up a glass from a table, lifted it up in the air, as though looking at it in the light, and angrily paraded that way, glass still elevated above his head, to where the waitstaff was gathered near the kitchen. I heard nothing, but presumably someone got one hell of an ass chewing, for there being fingerprints or such on the glass, I would guess. And I say chew away! While it was met with some shocked looks by some of the people around us, they were clearly folks who don't eat at nice restaurants very often, and don't share the same demand for perfection that the General Manager and I share. Like I said, this isn't the minor leagues. It's not Denny's. This isn't the type of restaurant for high school and college kids to get their feet wet in the restaurant/service business. So kudos to the General Manager. His actions were neither unnoticed nor unappreciated. Fine work Sir! Areas for Improvement: I don't care if it's a 5 Star Rating, there is almost always room for improvement. These don't detract from the rating at all, but rather hopefully provide some constructive criticism for the management team. 1) Service: As I mentioned, the service could be improved. Again, it wasn't bad, but improvements in service would go a very long way. A $60 steak demands an additional level of service. Send the GMs on a field trip to some of the top-rated steakhouses, and you'll see what I mean. 2) Menu: The menu is really small. The drink menu was the same size as the entire food menu. Add the wine list to the drink side of the menu, and the food menu looks tiny. Sometimes that isn't a bad thing. Do one thing and do it really damn well. But I think in this case, it could stand to be expanded a little bit. The salads were...eh. I could have used just a normal salad with ranch dressing, honestly. Maybe the "wedge" covers that? I don't know. The menu description didn't seem to support that. And the soups (soup?) was all limited to seafood. In fact, the majority of appetizers seemed to contain seafood. Keep the heavy-duty seafood menu at Anthony's. This is a steakhouse, and the menu should reflect that. And for someone like me who is allergic to most shellfish, crab chowder doesn't do it for me. A great homemade chicken noodle or vegetable soup. would be nice. Add mozarella sticks, fried mushrooms, etc., and you have a formidable appetizer spread. 3) Location: You have a phenomenal location. Use it!!! The dining room where we were seated was fairly cramped, the tables in very close proximity to to the booths, and the lighting was too strong. Yes...I know...enter the folks who always love to bitch about low lighting and not being able to see their food or the menu. Again, Denny's has great lighting. Go there. The location is reasonably romantic. Play that to your advantage. Dim the lights, spread things out, utilize the outdoor space, with heaters/firepits if needed, and make it a good romantic steakhouse. read more

The first couple times my husband and I went here we had good food and good service. However, the last few times we went we had horrible service and mediocre food, at best. On our most recent visit - for our 9th anniversary dinner Monday night (6/27/20016) we were very disappointed. The steak was chewy and not worth the price. The appetizers were ok but also overpriced. The drinks were awful. Negroni and a Moscow mule...my husband could not even finish them and he is not one to waste alcohol. Lol. Our server hardly came to our table and it took forever to get our food on a slow Monday night. Horrible experience and complete waste of money. You're better off going to outback, Applebee's or any other chain steak house. read more

I hate to low rate this place, but it wasn't for the food. Steaks were great, food was great. What I didn't like was the heavy handed management that seemed to terrorize the wait staff. I felt like they were forced to hover over us the entire night under fear of losing their jobs. At one point I ordered a Cabernet to go with my steak. Some guy brought out a Chardonnay. Honest mistake, but our server was pulled off the floor and obviously screamed at. She came back out looking beat down and terrorized. Rarely give anything 5 stars, but they earned it. Had the 8 oz. Filet Mignon, grilled asparagus (serves 2-3), and a baked potato with all the goodies. Fantastic meal. we brought a wine we are partial to and the corkage fee is a very reasonable $10. read more

Came here with a group of friends yesterday for an early dinner & we literally spent 3 hours in the restaurant, 1 hour was spent eating! (That alone should tell you something about the service) Our waitress could have been an amazing waitress (she was very friendly & personable) & gotten a great tip if she had paid more attention to our table. Upon arrival we got seated & about 10 mins later our waitress came to take our drink order. It took about 30 mins for our drinks to come out. We then saw all these tables getting served bread upon arrival, so when our waitress FINALLY made her way back to our table I asked her if we could get some bread (her response, oh they haven't brought you out any? Ummmm...isn't that your job?!) I ordered the calamari appetizer & although it was quite good, the potion was just outrageous for the price! I then ordered a surf & turf meal & upon arrival of my food the waitress then told me, "I have a setting come out for you" I waited & waited & waited for my setting while eating my steak, she them comes around the corner & says "oh you haven't gotten your setting?" Then leaves & never comes back until it's time to give us our check! I had ended up having to break the crab open with my teeth! She said nothing to me, not even an apology for not bringing out my setting for my crab! My husband & I agreed that although we enjoyed our food, we wouldn't come back to this establishment. The wife and I visited Budd's after hearing about their Early Bird dinner. A four course meal for $21 was what we were promised and it was what we received. The ambience was nice and I liked the muted reds with the dark wood that ran throughout the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and was quick to make accommodations for my food allergies even coming back between courses to double check what ingredients were acceptable and what were not. The food was well-seasoned and well-prepared with only two minor quibbles. The first, the cook on the steak was one above request on both mine and my wife's steak. So while I requested medium-rare, I received a steak that was definitely medium. Secondly, my wife's creme brûlée was too cold and wasn't properly caramelized. Granted, we were the first diners to be seated at the restaurant tonight and I am sure they had just pulled the dessert from the chiller, it was a disappointing capstone to an otherwise good meal. I cannot comment on the price-to-satisfaction ratio that other diners have because we were eating at a special rate, but overall I found the experience to be worth the price. We would gladly visit again. P.S. We didn't drink with our meal, but the wine list had some great selections! read more

Beautiful setting good food but service is horrible. The wait staff are all great but the management won't let them set outside tables. Appetizers came after meal. Took forever to get our order and they served another table before us that was seated after us. Had to ask for utensils. But honestly waiters are all very nice. Hope this is just because it is new but this is our third visit. The tables outside get move so staff doesn't know where table 1 is. Just put a table number on table so you can find the table the food belongs too. I never was asked if I wanted another drink and to pay I had to tract waitress down. Overall a nice and new alternative for Tri-Cities but average in any urban city. Weird to have baked alaska but not get to enjoy the flames at your table. We have dined at Budd's Broiler on two previous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed the upscale dining, and this experience was no exception. The service was excellent, our cocktails were made to perfection, the copper river salmon appetizer that we shared was deliciously prepared on an oriental salad with ginger... yum! We both ordered filet steak Oscar, and it was prepared perfectly and was excellent. The only room for improvement was that the shared appetizer should have been served on two plates or served along with two empty plates, especially since the utensils are chop sticks, which tends to get messy when one reaches across the table. Additionally, the Caesar salad was unusual with cheese flavored croutons and unusual dressing. Regardless, it was a 5 star experience. read more

We have visited the Broiler twice and both times the food was mediocre. The steaks were hard and had very little taste. These were supposedly dry aged cuts of beef. I recently went to Budd's Broiler for the first time for a birthday celebration with 8 other friends of mine. I was nervous to be there with such a large group, but the staff waited on us incredibly attentively and made great suggestions for food. Our server, Janet, helped me decide on the filet mignon (wrapped in prosciutto!) with a cornbread pudding as a side. The filet mignon was outstanding! Seriously melt in your mouth. The cornbread pudding was SO good! Overall, the experience was one I will not forget and I hope I can go again! The service was by far some of the best I have had in the Tri-Cities and you felt like your meal was made and served personally for you. 5 stars for Janet, the chefs, and the atmosphere at Budd's! read more

All four of us ordered Prime Rib medium-rare, all 4 arrived well done. We should have sent all 4 of the Prime Ribs back, we were so hungry we ate them. First, our server, Hector, was wonderful.. He know the menu, and the food preparation. His service was spot on. The restaurant was dusty. The light fixtures and the pony walls that divided the dining areas were covered in dust . There was a red food substance on the back of at least one chair that I could see from where I sat. With the reputation of the owners of Budd's Broiler one would think that they would hire a cleaning company to come in after hours and take care of the housekeeping. My cobb salad had romaine lettuce cores in it and the shrimp was under cooked. The potatoes augratin was under cooked because the cheese wasn't melted. However the calamari was prepared perfectly. We just returned from the Portland Oregon area and had dined out frequently. A dinner of comparable food was much more delicious and less cost than our dinner at Budd's. I've eaten at Buds about 7 times although it has been several months. I have always had good service; the restaurant architecture with exposed beams is beautiful and enhances the dining experience . There is a nice view of the Columbia Point boat docks. The food is expensive for the tricities and in my opinion not really worth the price tag on its own merits, but to be fair there is a cost associated with the building and location. If you can get there for the early bird special it is very economical and worthwhile. read more

We were given scotch instead of bourbon and a cab instead of a port. However they quickly fixed the error. Others noted that the wait staff hovered. I agree. We were asked if we were ready to order about 4 times in about 10 minutes. I could see asking if our menus were down, but we were still holding them and discussing what to order. While Budds is a little out of our normal price range, we went with a gift card from Christmas. I ordered the $30 surf and turf. I was really craving crab legs but did not see that on the menu, but my boyfriend isn't a seafood fan so we chose Budds over Anthony's. This was our first time going, on a Thursday night. I honestly didn't expect it to be as busy as it was but I think that speaks for it. Everything was very flavorful and service was great. This was very "fancy" for us, and we felt out of place, but that has nothing to do with Budds. My only complaint was the crab that topped my steak had shells in it, which wasn't pleasant biting into, but I enjoyed my meal otherwise. If you get a chance to try this place out absolutely do it. read more
