Much less crowded than Anthony's, Bud's has a good happy hour and I routinely enjoy the Poke (Salmon, Tuna, Swordfish -- you really can't go wrong). I've been here 3 times now, each after boating. We've tried the Kobe beef burger, Prime Rib dip, seafood martini and of course the peach slump -- all yummy. The $19.95 special before 6pm is a great deal. I would probably come back and recommend it as a great place for a slightly more upscale regular dining option than Olive Garden or Applebee's (the other options in the Tri-Cities). The pros: Our server was very friendly, our steaks were cooked properly, and the ambiance was quite nice. I really enjoyed the mushrooms I ordered and the tomatoes served with our steak were inspired! They had great flavor and a nice contrast in temp to the food. Everything came out a good temperature, especially the coffee which was piping hot. The cons: Please salt your butter. Also, the bread was too greasy and the crust to flaky, I shouldn't make a mess tearing my bread and/or worry about staining my clothes if I touch them prior to using a wetnap. The Caesar salad that comes with a whole leaf is unusual and not convenient enough to be a thing (the trick is to roll each piece as you cut it). Overall a nice experience. I love Anthony's and was so looking forward to the opening of their first steak house. Thank you Anthony's for bringing us a new and well sited dining option. The same managers are now nervously pacing the upper deck as they are sadly famous for at Anthony's next door. The menu is very busy and the "meat" of the menu is not the highlight one would expect. I was dining with someone that has eaten here twice previously. She had steak the previous two times. Her comments were the steaks are not being consistently cooked. I totally agree as my sirloin steak was ordered medium rare and when it came was cold and raw, and very tough. The art in thev entryway is also very unappealing. Recently I visited Budd's for the first time. I was not impressed. I think the service was good as was the fruit and Brie appetizer. However for $38 my daughter's sirloin steak was tough, edible but not of the best quality. My beef Wellington was okay but it was the smallest piece of filet I have ever been served. Also the crust was limp as if it had been microwaved. There was minimal sauce and no mushrooms in the sauce. All in all I found Budd's was overpriced and the food mediocre. This rating is relative to other steakhouses in the Triciities and there are caveats. First, this is a converted conference restaurant. Therefore the space is a little unusual. Much of the seating is booths and hence the decor is the biggest negative. They did a good job with what they have, and the view is a definite plus since its on the river. The food was actually quite good, steaks cooked perfectly and seasoned near perfectly. The desert menu could be more exciting and the service was a tad slow, but overall I liked it. Will I return? Maybe not because of the distance from my house and the higher than average prices for the TCs. read more

Food is better than average for the tri cities. The service at this restaurant continues to be very lackluster. The first time we went here for a business meeting, it took over an hour for everybody to get their drinks ordered. We have used Budd's many time for our business meetings and on the latest trip, the waitress decided not to come back to our table for a full two hours because she thought that we were in a serious business meeting discussion and did not want to interrupt. We did not realize that that much time had passed until a potential business partner asked if we were hungry. He had to drive back two hours after dinner and it was already 8:30 PM. We had to apologize to him, flag down a different waitress and quickly got our order put in. Perhaps we are unlucky but we have had very very spotty service several times at this restaurant. The food in general is good as I mentioned above. Not exactly sure why we continue to go back but we will be looking for a new venue to host business clients. read more

We went on a Wednesday night to celebrate my husbands new job. We were trying to go to the nicest restaurant in town and having been to Budd's before I had high hopes. It seemed very busy for a January Wednesday night but we were seated promptly and greeted quickly. Drinks were good, we ordered two glasses of champagne to start (celebrating) and then skipped apps and ordered dinner. We both had the 6 oz filet dinner with a side salad. Side salads were wilted, browning chopped greens with anemic cherry tomatoes and half a red onion. We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo (excellent) to enjoy with dinner. Steak was excellent one medium, one medium rare and cooked pretty close to ordered with gorgonzola butter. The mashed potatoes were obviously restaurant style, reheated at least one if not two days old (think dry and cold in the middle) with fried onions on top and the side veg was oily "sautéed" green and yellow zucchini and possibly butternut squash (not sure because it was still hard and I didn't try it) sprinkled with plain pumpkin seeds, unseasoned. We skipped dessert. For $49 per dinner I guess I expected a little more of a total plate experience. Not just a good steak with a great bottle of wine. Our server was great in the beginning but then disappeared, come to find out she had a 20 top seated just after we arrived. Not her fault but poor staffing on behalf of the schedulers. Overall not sure if I would plan another "special" dinner evening here again. Over $200 for two dinners and a bottle of wine +tip. And I didn't even mention the table with four adults and two screaming children that caused another table of adults to move, not Budd's fault they brought the kids but not the place to have an intimate, "fancy" adults dinner. read more

We visited on June 20th with a party of 6. We were all impressed with their wine list to start off and their sommelier chatted with us for some time to help us choose. Each of us were very pleased with our meal. The steaks were perfectly done. I had Alaskan King Crab added to mine and it was also delicious. Cheers to the serving staff! Service was terrible!! I don't know if they were short staffed or something but it took over an hour for our food. We were there for over 2 hours total, more than half of the time just waiting. Server also had a terrible attitude and kept referencing anyone who wasn't my parents as "children" even though they were all 18 or older. I also ordered an alcoholic drink and got glared at before being asked for my ID in a tone that indicated I was trying to pull one over on them. The flavor of the steak was very good, but the texture of the meat was far tougher than the price would indicate. Baked potato was slightly under-cooked, and the asparagus was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Sauce was a little too plain, but overall had a decent flavor. The decor and crowd was welcoming and the Servers were classy but lacked any discretionary effort. The sun was unrelenting on the patrons who sat across from me, and our table/booth was unable to have any shades drawn. This area was one of our many stops on our family vacation and I decided I needed a steak. This restaurant was at the top of the Yelp list for steak houses in the area. The space is inviting and so is the staff, warm friendly people. There is a good selection of draft beer, my wife had a strawberry basil mojito which was recommended and she loved! Buttery bread and herb butter was served...it was ridiculously good! My wife ordered from the "Early Bird" menu. The baked Brie appetizer had to have been previously baked because it came cold. 4 of the 8 grapes on the plate were cut and damaged. Her entree was the Salmon and shrimp. The salmon was thinly cut and not that favorable , Early Bird Menu, our daughter ordered from the salmon from the kids menu and it was a thick filet...go figure. My wife had the burnt cream for dessert, it was ice cold, not sure what day it was prepared. I ordered the Filet ala Oscar and really enjoyed it! Great space, great staff, regular menu item was good. If the restaurant wanted to stand out, it might consider making menu items closer to the time they were ordered, c'mon! While my sirloin and the garlic prawns were quite tasty and they and the broccoli were cooked nicely, the broccoli and a baked potato were cold (the soft butter took a long time to melt into the potato). The pumpkin bisque had a very odd taste and was only lukewarm. The bread needed salt and it was also barely warm. The burnt cream was ice cold and the burnt sugar topping was overcooked and too thick. Service was excellent. We had exactly two bites of meat that was swimming in (really good) gravy but consisted mainly of a few mushrooms. The other plate was mashed potatoes. We Mixed the two plates together and though tasty, was not what we were ordered or expected. That was 24.00 down the drain. I know there are good appetizers there but I am hesitant to go return. My friends and I all ordered the Early Bird Special, looking forward to an interesting four course meal. After a nice appetizer and wine, our second course was served with the third course. Additionally, when my salmon dinner arrived I smelled, and tasted meat in the thick sauce. Since I dont eat meat, and knowing the menu didn't mention meat, I assumed I must be smelling my friend's dinner. Unfortunately, I was only able to eat a small portion of the salmon, and had the rest of the course and the dessert boxed up. When I returned home I felt quite ill, so called Bubb's to learn more about the salmon recipe. A gentleman told me both beef and chicken are in the sauce, adding that "no one's complained about the meal before!" I was surprised with such an off-putting comment, which pretty much concluded my unfortunate dining experience at Bubb's. read more

Went a while ago AND IT WAS AWFUL. Food was cold and WEIRD! I order a salad and got an entire Roman heart wrapped in a crouton ring, with a dipping cup of dressing and a steak knife to cut it with... the burger was cold and soggy and nothing special. Service was super slow, but not at fault of the staff they were just simply being over worked. My husband ordered the duck and it was like warm and extremely chewy with very little flavor. They're sister restaurants with Anthony's and I was hoping they would be a better experience than that of Anthony's however I was left hungry and disappointed. Went here last week for the first time to take advantage of the happy hour specials. We were not disappointed! Sampled several of their happy hour shareable, all fresh and fantastic. Yes, it's a beef restaurant, but still wish they had something besides meat and starch on the happy hour list. Custom drinks were delicious and nice variety of local craft beer. A lovely restaurant in a fantastic location overlooking the magnificent Columbia River, it's just a shame the food, service and price didn't match. The menu provides a lackluster offering of overpriced items. We had considered ordering the most expensive cut of meat on the menu, the famous 16oz "Tomahawk" (a steal at $90 but enough for two) but were warned away because it would take at least an hour and a half to cook...seriously! Was there not a call-ahead option as we didn't bring our sleeping bags and had not planned to spend the night. I started with the corn and crab bisque, or what was more appropriately a can of corn with some cream. What I initially thought was a lump of crab in the center of my bowl was instead a tasteless (to be perfectly paired) chunk of bread. No crab, no taste and that set the tone for the night. "Would you like bread" the waitress asked, of course (yes, I too wondered why she asked and didn't simply bring it), and three visits later when we inquired about the bread her response was " well I ordered it". Perhaps we were expected to stop by the kitchen ourselves. I ordered the vastly overpriced Certified Angus Beef Brand Rib Eye, medium-rare at $49. What I got was a thin piece of gray meet they was branded with grill marks but otherwise lacking any char and any flavor. Interested in a side with your piece of beef, not here. The menu is void of any choices and you better like the potato, because that's what you get (Champs or baked)...but then we are in the potato capitol of the US. My son ordered the 10oz Wagyu Top Sirloin, also medium-rare. What he got was a 3in nearly round ball of meat with a very nice char but rare. I've never seen a top sirloin ball before and hopefully never will again. It was a steal at $29, at least for Budd. As I mentioned, the service was lacking as well. The rest of my party had a beer, a Hefe Weizen, but lacking the customary fruit garnish. As the designated driver, I had a coke. When refilling my drink, I was brought a fresh glass (nice touch) but the server didn't take the empty glass. A crowded table which kept getting more crowded. It was a four top and there were three of us. While they removed the fourth wine glass initially, they left the silverware and never removed the remaining wine glasses long after it was obvious we weren't ordering wine. I guess they were hopeful we'd pad the bill with overpriced wine, like the numerous $350 bottles listed in the iPad based electronic list. Also, in our OpenTable reservation, we specifically requested a both but we're seated the the aforementioned four top despite numerous empty booths with no explanation. So, $140 for dinner for three, not bad right, but we only ordered two meals as my wife wasn't overly hungry and nothing on the menu was overly appealing after the tomahawk put-off. In retrospect we probably should have just gone down under where we at least know what we'll get for our dollar, or maybe just Taco Bell. Oh well, another wonderful tri-city restaurant that thinks it's in New York and can charge New York prices, too bad it just didn't live up to expectations, which quite honestly are set pretty low here. Bottom line, if your looking for a nice view of the river in a nicely appointed restaurant and your hard-earned money is burning a hole in your pocket, this is the place for you. If on the other hand you appreciate great food with great service regardless of the price, look elsewhere. Loved everything about our experience at Budd's, one of the best meals we have ever had. We started with the Chargrilled Prawns which did not disappoint then, a Mad Anthony's salad cause we already knew we loved that salad. For our dinners we had the Dry Aged NY Strip and Pacific Swordfish. Bree our server who was amazing recommended, the Thurston Wolfe Reserve Petite Sirah which paired perfectly with both of our dinners. The NY Strip was so good it literally melted in your mouth. AMAZING!! The Swordfish was so flavorful and was simply excellent. Even though we had no more room we ordered a Baked Alaska for dessert and it was Huge and very very delicious. Restaurant has a very limited gluten free menu. Ordered a sirloin steak which took more than 30 minutes to arrive. My partner had to ask for his bread and appetizer after he had waited 15 - 20 minutes. Waitress never filled the water glasses. Manager asked how dinner was, and when I told him we had been seated at the restaurant for over an hour by the time our entrees arrived, he offered a free dessert. Ridiculous offer for a person who can't eat gluten ( no gf dessert options). Service was poor, wait was exceptionally long, and food was mediocre. Will not be going back. read more

We went there for an adult birthday celebration on a Tuesday night. Not as crowded as the parking lot would indicate. I started with a cup of their crab and corn chowder. Wonderful. Then I had the garden salad while wife had shrimp and romaine salad. She then had the filet mignon while I had the lamb chops. Great mashed potatoes and broccoli. Excellent after-tastes.
