I've been renting cars from this Budget location in Boca for several years now, and the service has always been excellent. I've worked with both Mike and Hanna in the past--and again just this past week over the Christmas holiday--and they continue to be outstanding. Even during the busy holiday season, when things can get stressful and some customers can be difficult, they remain patient, accommodating, and genuinely helpful. They take the time to make sure everything goes smoothly and do their best to resolve any issues that come up. While other rental companies in the area were overbooking and even canceling reservations (which is crazy), Mike took great care of my rental and made sure everything was handled properly. This site will likely be closed down soon. If you reserve a car here, it is likely you will not get ANY car. I reserved a car 48hrs prior to travel. Website indicated there were many (compact, mid-, full- ...) available. When I showed up, Manager Andrew told me "Yeah, we don't have any cars". Airlines also over-sell their capacity, but when they are oversold, they are obligated to compensate you ("$400 to take the next flight"). This unfortunate site has an unsustainable business model. This was the worst experience. I reserved a car using Costco 4 days ago. I had reserved an intermediate car. Ana the front desk person, does my paperwork and then gives me a small car. I told her that I had reserved an intermediate car. She says no this is it. I showed her my reservation and she doesnt car. She says she does not have any car and I was there early (I was there 30 minutes early only). I told her that I am willing to wait till my reservation time...but then she says that She cannot guarantee me anything as she doesnt know if she is going to get a car or not. What the hell? I don't have perfect credit , but it's decent and don't have any major issues. I don't have any debt. I buy what I can afford and have a fair amount saved. I dont have credit cards and tried to use my check card / debit and said they could charge the full rental plus a deposit and I was still not allowed to rent. read more

After a red-eye flight and waiting over an hour in line at Budget Miami, I was assigned to the most grotesque vehicle I have ever rented in 15 years. It was clear that asking for help from the very source of the problem would not achieve anything, so I ended up asking Budget in Boca Raton for help. Many thanks to Mike and his team for making it right. They replaced the vehicle with a vehicle that had actually been cleaned and sanitized. Rented a car on our trip. The front tires were absolutely bold. Left front tire was flat as we were driving. Called budget roadside assistance they told us to wait for 90 minutes. 2 and a half hours later budget roadside assistance showed up. Budget told us that they have a replacement vehicle for us at a location and they lied. Even the budget employee told us that that's what they do is lie about having vehicles. Never use this company. They are scammers. I paid for Sirius Satellite Radio and when I picked up the car I tried to get Sirius to work for 15 minutes. I went to the front desk for help and they told me that the Satellite Radio did not work on the lot, that I would have to drive off the lot, 10 - 15 minutes away from the lot to get the Satellite to work. Of course it didn't work when I left the lot and it didn't work for the entire week I had the car. When I called Budget on the phone (it took FOUR phone calls to get an operator and the three calls I made I had to wait upwards of 10 minutes-not how I wanted to spend my vacation), they said that the Satellite should have worked on the lot, and that they couldn't refund my money. The phone operator explained I would have to return to the lot in person and speak to the person at the counter (the one who punked me), to get him to refund my money. What a scam. Always have a very good and welcoming experience! They are great at always providing a car even in the bossiest of seasons. They have a wide car selection and amazing customer service. I never knew that neighborhood car rental offices could be better than the major airports! Terrible company. The vehicle I was provided turned out to have operational/mechanical problems. Customer Service and roadside assistance had no viable options. They "offered" that I drive an hour to the nearest airport to switch out the vehicle, and an hour back or that they tow the vehicle- and I would be responsible for paying for the tow--and that I'd have to accompany the vehicle back to the airport. Very costly and inconvenient options. The local Budget offices refused to switch out the vehicle. I've had problems with Budget in other states, but it's been years since I rented a vehicle from them, so I thought I'd give it another try. Budget remains a terrible company. read more

After getting a phone call at 4:40pm the night before I was to pick my rental from Hertz, Hertz employee said sorry nothing is in stock and don't believe the online inventory. I was left stranded. I googled places around Boca and wow! So professional and understanding. I love about this place was that you call and the person working there (Mike) is actually the person you rent from. As a USAA member I have been renting from Budget for years. In fact, it's my go-to car/truck rental. However, this Boca Raton Budget location off SW 1st St has made the return process for a Budget Rental truck a HORRIBLE customer service experience! The woman they have assigned to work on Sundays (Mid age woman from Europe, possibly Croatia/Russia) is LAZY!!! She didn't want to even attempt at doing her job until we, the customer decided to call the customer service line and try to get some help! We returned our Budget Truck rental at this location with more than the required fuel from the original rental site, which wasn't Full and should've been full- problem number one. Next, the lady at the Budget counter insists we spend more money by getting charged an administrative fee of $30 plus cost of diesel or drive back home to get another copy of the rental contract. At the end this was a VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!!!!! read more

So of course, I read the previous reviews and was afraid of what was in store for me. BOY WAS I PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. I am not one for writing reviews, and most people pleased with services do not write reviews on Yelp, but I thought it was imperative with the negative reviews previously written to talk about my experience. Wait time- approximately 5 minutes Customer service-Friendly, informative, competent Car-Basically got upgraded for free (received a Kia Soul, even though I purchased the lowest model car) Accommodations- Service staff accommodated me in more ways than I can begin to explain. Clear Directions- All service staff were very clear of charges from the beginning, they told me what can cause an increase in charges and how to stay away from that, which I did. I will DEFINITELY be back. I encourage more of you who had a good experience here, to write as these business owners deserve what they offer. I had the WORST experience EVER. BEWARE OF CLOSING TIME. I had the Budget truck on Saturday from 9am-5:30p on my reservation, initialed paperwork, they gave me me the keys, and said BYE. No warning that they close at 4 (online also says "accepts after-hour drop off," LIE.). I came back early at 3:55p and the place was CLOSED, LOCKED UP, AND NO ONE THERE. They had LOCKED OUR PERSONAL VEHICLE in their facility and we were unable to return the truck or get our vehicle out of the parking lot. I spoke with three people on the phone, begging to have a manager or locksmith open the gate and they said, "Someone should be there, if not, it's a $250 late fee." Whoever worked there had left early. No call, text, or help from anyone. We had to Uber back to Miami and come back the next day. The next day, we explained our situation to the one and only worker there and she had no power nor cared about what happened to us. I Had rented a one-way rental from St. Louis to Florida and I was running late from traffic. Mike Smith the owner called and I told him I would be late and he said he was going to charge me a whole extra day. I asked if he would just prorate the extra hours I was late and he said that he could do that but didn't want to. He was extremely rude both times I spoke with him on the phone and then charged me more for the second day than I paid for the first. I will never have any dealings with him in the future. My husband surprised me for my birthday with a trip to Florida. During that time he got sick and couldn't travel. I called the car rental company I was renting from and they looked at this as an opportunity to charge me more. I called this Budget office. The staff was so lovely and understanding. They gave me a wonderful deal and when I needed to extend they really took care of me. As a matter of fact the manager of the facility would call and find out how my husband was feeling. Rented a moving van a week in advance. I pick up the truck 2 hours before the movers were due to come, and the folks at the Budget counter were very surprised to find I had a reservation for a truck. I want to personally thank Mike Kadzinski, the manager of this Budget rental store in Boca Raton, FL. We were one of the many customers that Mr Kadzinski personally helped on April 3, 2022. Our flight was one of the many flights that were cancelled by AA, along with other carriers. Obtaining a one-way rental was difficult for the hundreds of customers who couldn't get their flights rescheduled for 2-3 days. We had counted 70ish AA flight cancellations on this particular late evening alone. Mike personally used his own car to drive customers waiting at his facility to other facilities that did have cars. He also provided his personal cell phone number for any questions or concerns related to charges/billing. He was a bright spot in a day of chaos and frustration. We appreciated him more than he could possibly know. I hope his superiors understand what fabulous customer support this gentleman provided to scores of frustrated customers. I called on Friday at 400 to reserve. He tells me he has vehicles but can't take a reservation and that I have to call the 1800 num. I call and they supposedly reserve a truck. I show up in the morning , I am told the reservation is at a different location , but they don't have trucks at the other location. Mr. Ron Nelson, CEO Avis & Budget CarRental, You really need to train Beverly your manager at your 251 SW First Avenue, Boca Raton, FL. I have filed customer service claim 7123724. I informed the check out agent I would need a ride when I returned the vehicle which would likely be on Sunday, a day early. The check out agent never mentioned they require a 24 notice and there are no signs posted anywhere informing customers of this requirement. Enterprise does not require a 24 hour notice. I did bring my vehicle back a day early and since I didn't know about a 24 hour ride request notice the manager, Beverly, said she can't break the rules and refused to offer me transportation to a location 5 miles away. So I walked in 90 degree for 5 miles. Second, more importantly, when I returned the car, Beverly, refused to check me out at 10:40am. She didn't give me any paper work, didn't look at my car, check mileage, check fuel, check for forgotten items left in car I mean nothing even though I didn't leave until 11:00. In fact, the car is likely still billing for all I know. Mr. Nelson, you manage important national brands like Avis and Budget and you should have better controls on customer interfacing people like Beverly who make renting from Budget a scary experience. I know poorly trained employees like Beverly are an exception but she is how I view the Budget brand now. Budget Boca Raton has been very helpful to me. Useful to know: the fleet of cars and trucks here depends on what is made available from the main branch in Miami airport, and you must reserve online or using Budgets customer service number. After you've made your reservation, I'd advise you to go to the Boca Raton branch (or try call them, but sometimes very busy) to indicate your desired vehicle - to try to get the most suitable car or truck. It is very useful that you can return your vehicle either to the Boca Raton branch or to any of the nearby airports, or vice versa. read more

Made an online reservation for a truck and was told when I got there at the schedule time they did not have any trucks and I had friends waiting outside to help me move. So I left and found that UHAL had many trucks to rent last minute and the mileage rate is 50% less. After all that happened could you believe they charged by credit card a no-show fee of $50.00.
