If I could leave less than one star, I would. Perhaps one of the worst car rental experiences I've ever encountered. I showed up to pick up my car. I had a reservation, and it was a corporate rental. The rude, incompetent, miserable, and indifferent woman working the counter decided that she did not like my recently issued Florida drivers license - which also had been uploaded to the app and accepted by the Sixt platform. She informed me that it was her prerogative that my again newly issued Florida drivers license showed wear and that it was her prerogative not to rent us a car. Rather than sit there and argue with a fool, I made a reservation at a different Sixt location, showed up and picked up a car. At a lower price, so thank you for saving us a little bit of money. I will also share this rather ridiculous experience with Sixt corporate - however, I can't imagine that they will do much with it, considering that they hired these incompetent individuals in the first place! I tried the subscription plan. What a nightmare. Picked up car ok no issues car in average condition. Then the issues started. Got email that said i had to return car early because it reached the end of its holding period (which was 6 days before I was supposed to return it) and that if i didn't they would fine me. Live 1 1/2 hours away but ok. Have to pay extra gas and mileage too to go down there. I called to schedule like they asked. Was given an appointment for Sunday. Didn't have a warm and fuzzy that everything was locked in, more like the agent just wanted to get me off phone. So Sunday comes and before i leave house I call one more time. They say that yes appointment is confirmed and they even reserved a vehicle for me. Very sure sounding and i get email with a booking number. Drive 1-1/2 hours and get there and they say that we were the fourth people to be sent there to exchange vehicle and they had no vehicles and that the booking was worthless. Then get the run around that its a different department. Call back to customer service and they say nothing they can do its up to local office and so on four different times. Bottom line is that i leave with car i came with and a promise that at the end of the subscription they may look at it (so in other words forget about it). Also i was assured that they would not charge a penalty for not exchanging the car as was threatened in the email. Paused Subscription 2 nd subscription rental i could not make online. Told to start new subscription- would be credited the 200 fee. Made reservation - At Boca when picking up - Paperwork had changed - Extra hundreds of $ in charges. Obvious flagrant overcharges ! Shows 2x extra driver charge - 2x general tolls plus other eroneous charges. Extra subscription fee, extra days despite it being a monthly program - Agent told me these were correct charges - Take car or someone else would take. Have eaten hundreds in past - Didn't have time or energy to chase. They take advantage of this - make it almost impossible to get credit. i took assuming c service would fix - Assumed wrong ! They have had every excuse for not responding - Don't return email. My calls to c service bounce to numerous depts - None able to handle problem. Have dealt with Boca ( Mizner ) for years - spoke to agents i know by first name. They too tried to justify why i was overcharged 500.00 - That was the most disappointing !! Rented a BMW 5 series & got a flat. They told me to return the car & they will upgrade me for free to a BMW X5. After my rental was over they charged me for the upgrade instead and lied that they gave me a free upgrade. $5000 extra this cost me. I had the car for 2 months. Terrible company. Left my daughter and I on the side of the Jersey turnpike waiting for a replacement car for six hours In July heat when their first car broke down. When the new car finally came it had a chip in the windshield that the delivery person notated on their paper work. I had to pay $175 to get towed of the turnpike that they have not reimbursed me for as their AAA is not allowed on the turnpike. Terrible experience. We booked a specific car, they didn't give us the make/model we booked (they gave us a subpar option), and our car broke down on the third day of our trip. We were left without a car for the entire day, stuck in a random Irish village with our toddler and other child. Lost an entire day of vacation. Calling them now about a credit and they've had me on hold for "second level" support for 2 hours, and they claim there is nothing they can do to expedite support here. read more

Sixt The new home of low standards is Sixt in Boca Raton Florida. Rented a Suburban to take a trip with my family. Arrived a day early to confirm that the premium suv would be clean and smoke free as my son had bad allergies. On arrival, the suv was dirty inside but was the only available option. I went home, cleaned the interior surfaces, and we departed an hour later. We weren't 20 miles down the road and found all the tire pressures to be drastically off. On inspection we found an outside tire balding. Over the next 6 days we heard a grinding sound coming out of the rear bed and tires that would not hold air. As a corporate member and renter I find this type of experience hard ti maintain my loyalty to sixt. read more

Every facet of my experience with Sixt rental was terrible. The Boca Raton location ruined any possibility of ever using this company again. If there was a hint of possibility of resolving this, Sixt customer service phone staff solidified my suspicion that this a terrible company. The man I interacted with after 48 minutes of hold music and escalations was absolutely useless. I am shopping for car rentals today in fact. If this company offered me a car at 20% the price of Hertz, I still would never use Sixt again. Had a really great experience here. Jonathan and his manager were accommodating when a car I booked wasn't available, and they went beyond their way to find a suitable alternative option quickly. Everything went smoothly. My return was smooth as well when I dropped it off at Orland International. One thing that struck me was when I called customer service to get directions to drop off, the line was immediately answered and instructions spot on. Chris callously rejected our request, stating that there was nothing he could do and that we should handle the matter ourselves. His refusal to engage further or take any responsibility for the predicament we found ourselves further exacerbated an already distressing situation. The lack of accountability and the passing of the buck onto the customer is deeply concerning and reflects poorly on the company's commitment to customer service and issue resolution. As a paying customer, I was left feeling unsupported and abandoned by the company's representative, which is wholly unacceptable. It's clear that the company's approach to customer service and issue resolution falls short of expectations. The dismissive attitude and refusal to escalate the matter to a corporate contact or engage with the Orlando office reflect a concerning lack of accountability. We rented a minivan with Sixt and the experience was great. We had to reserve one on the fly and the booking process was quick, the pricing was reasonable (considering it was last second) and the was pickup seamless. My car was a relatively brand new Chrysler Pacifica. It had about 1000 miles on it and was in great condition. It was actually so new that we got to enjoy the free XM that came with the trial. Overall I was very pleased with the vehicle and best part of all, the return process took all of 3 minutes to complete. My experiences with Sixt have been pretty good over the years (with a few exceptions) and this branch is no different. US based car rental companies could learn a thing or two from companies like Sixt. It's definitely a customer service forward business. read more

I own a bed and breakfast and I just had a guest who had a Sixt rental car. He asked me for paper towels to check the oil. Then he went on to inform me that the Sixt rental car he was driving was leaking oil. It in fact had leaked oil all over my clean white concrete driveway. Multiple spots one at least a foot around. My guest also informed me he was shocked when he picked up the car that it had over 60k miles, but, he got a great rate so he was okay with it. Unfortunately I am now left with having to call someone to clean my driveway! I called their customer service to inform them of the problem with the mess their leaky vehicle left on my driveway and they offered me a voucher. I told them I would not be interested in ever renting a car with over 60k miles that leaked oil on people's driveways and I had to keep checking the oil. Who would want that? read more

We just got defraud by this Sixt rental. My wife placed a reservation through Priceline and pre-paid for the car and insurance. I showed up to pick up the vehicle. The agent tried to sell me an upgrade for a Jeep which I refused. Then he told me since I was the designated driver, he needed to put the charges on my cc. At that point I asked if we were going to get double charged, he assured me not to worry it wouldn't happened. Then he told the Jeep was going to be a free upgrade. I drove home and learned that instead of paying the 527$ as on Priceline we got surcharged and the new charge amounts to almost 1,400$ read more

From my mama point of view... I had to get a rental over the weekend and made my way over with SIXT. I highly recommend, they are very nice and friendly and extremely pleasant to work with. The facility is nice and clean. I had the pleasure of working with Lou for my rental - I walked away feeling like he went above and beyond to meet all my vehicle needs as per my requirements. I was also given an upgrade with no extra charge! I will definitely be coming back the next time I need a rental. The best part for me was the fact that I am a Cali girl moved out here to Florida and I was given a car with California plates! How awesome is that - I get back to my house and even my roommate said that that car was meant for me. Coming here with an awesome experience that exceeded all of my expectations. read more

The boca Sixt was sub par, the first issue is the space they have is way too small. They bring your rental around to a busy road federal Hwy and put on the flashers. Then I get a car that has a very an odd shifter it had buttons you pull not obvious or intuitive. The staff members were lovely and showed me how to use it. The car had leaves all over it, and bird feces. They said it was the only car available in the price range I had selected. So I made arrangements to come back later and pick up another car later, which was not convenient at all. The second car I picked up was a Mazda it had several scratches and dents. They told me to just take a picture before I drove off. I rented this car for a week, I tried to drop it off a few days early because I didn't need it anymore. I showed up on Saturday at 4:30 and they were closed and have no place to drop off the car or the keys.early. so I returned it on Monday as agreed. I was asked if I had a full tank which I did. I had stopped a couple blocks ahead and topped it off. When I received my final invoice, they charged me for $23 worth of-fuel . I called to discuss and was on the phone for a long time first they said no and then finally they agreed to refund me which they did. I'm just disappointed because I thought Sixt would be my go to rental company I even recommended them to friends. I am probably not going to use them again, unless they are the only car available. I even joined the membership.. I wantto reiterate that the staff was great! FYI I have rented from Sixt in wash Dc,in the past and they were awesome!! They had great cars. Unbelievably dishonest!! I am being charged for an old scratch that I did not create!! Upon picking up the car, I never had an opportunity to check out the car because it was left in the street running and it was raining. On the return it was raining again and was told to just leave the vehicle. I asked if we should check it out and was told to just leave it. I believe this is a scam to get $500 more from me! OOoofa, I think it is this particular location because I have used Sixt before and it was perfectly ok service and the return at the Ft Lauderdale airport is quick, easy, and convenient. But this location on Federal Highway in Boca Raton, FL had one of the most sketchy business practices I have encountered. We booked online, Expedia same day. First, the car: a bmw 4 series was dirty and smelled not only of smoke but some kinda funk. Second, Shady Business: The woman at the desk claimed the car was not in the system and therefore the contract had to be done manually (carbon copy)- Ok. But so then we would not see an email version for 30-60 min, she also only took down our cc# and did not run it as she would do so when she entered it manually in to their system, never giving us a copy of the contract or a receipt. ??? When we went to the car it had scratches, dents, cracks in the windshield and the interior looked ok but dusty and smelled bad. I took pics of the exterior and interior and went back inside to inquire about the damage she said it'll all be listed on the contract, which at first I thought was given to my husband. When I realized he was not given a copy, I went in again to ask about the contract but she this time met me at the door, blocking the entrance to the lobby (as she saw I was returning for a second time) and told me I will get it in an email in a half hour. Confused, we left but within 30 mins of driving in not only the stench of the car but coming to the realization that there was something very off about her behavior in particular telling us to leave without a copy of the contract. We went back. (sorry, it is rather long story but please take caution) When we returned 30 min later (still not having received an email with the contract) upon seeing us she immediately said "I still haven't put it in the system, I was waiting for my manager". But we told them we wanted another car due to a heavy smoke smell, not mentioning anything about the written contract. At that time, there was a man at the desk standing next to her. And here is the real sketchy part, the man immediately snatched the contract still on her desk and said "I'll shred this" and disappeared behind a wall. At that point I said, No, I want that contract Voided, Signed by you, and a hard copy that is voided and signed. She said "he already shredded it". I insisted she get it and I must have been a bit too loud because he reappeared from behind the wall with the contract in hand. I looked at him and repeated my request for it to be VOIDED, he literally said "We don't do that here" (lololol, as I write this I still cannot believe it). But the woman at the counter took the contract and Voided it, which I had to tell her again told her to sign it and give me a copy. She was evidently quite perturbed as she huffed and slammed the pen, but did it. She then proceeded to rent us the camaro (for the same price btw) in a more standardized way. She entered it in to the computer, ran our credit card and gave us a receipt and copy of the contract. The camaro did have damage and the interior was not as dirty, but at least it didn't smell like smoke and funk. The return at the airport was quick easy and painless. Why we left without the contract the first time, we were rushed out of there and a bit confused as if we were doing something wrong. I'm not ordinarily this stupid or naive but this was definitely a time where I felt like I was being bamboozled and made us question a lot about the entire process. My husband and I spent a good amount of time kicking ourselves for initially letting them push us out without a copy of the contract as we had zero paperwork to prove anything, but we were both in total agreement that there was something shady going on. Honestly, if we didn't have the support of each other, I am not so sure I would have gone back if I were alone. I will not again use this company location. Either way, be careful here. Always, when you rent a car take Pictures of everything before you leave the lot and don't let them push you out the door, especially when you feel like something ain't right. read more
