I recently reserved an economy car for $564.99. When I went to pick the car up, they had no economy vehicles available. I rent with budget every time we travel, and if the car we reserved isn't available we are upgraded for free. This time we were charged an additional $30 per day. I needed a car so I accepted the charge. My return hours changed due to my flight changing. I was charged a full additional day for a 10 hour change, but was not told about the charge. The representative told me my new total was over $900. I questioned it and she said my $200 deposit was included in that and would drop off when the car was returned. We returned the car in the same condition we picked it up in and with a full tank of gas. I did not apply any special features. The next day I saw an email saying my total charge was $935.90. I called customer service because that is not what I was told at checkin. The rep told me my $200 was to cover the additional charges ($30/ day for an upgrade I had no choice but to get, and an additional day I was not told I'd be charged) if those were my only additional charges, my total should've been quite a bit less than $935.90. The math just doesn't add up. I was told I would NOT be getting my full deposit back even though that's what I was told when I checked in. They gave me $59 back (which was not included in the $935.90) and she refunded half of the upgrade fee. If they would've told me it would've been this amount up front, I would've cancelled my reservation and went somewhere else. I rent from Budget a lot, but I will not be using them again. Expectations need to be clearly explained AT checkin. Even though I got most of my deposit back, I had to call to fight for it. Still short $40, but I know I'm not getting that back. read more

This was by far the worst rental car experience, however, the front desk guy "Sofiane" was freaking awesome and helped us out when no one else would. First of all we rented an explorer - and had been told ahead of time not to worry our rental would be there guaranteed since we needed a larger suv for us and all of our board bags... well we got into Vancouver an hour late thanks to our flight delay and I'm assuming our rental was given away to someone else.... So the next thing available was a teeny little compact suv - not what we paid for, not even comparable to what we paid for, there were burger wrappers and bags under the seats. we couldn't even fit us and the bags well and the trunk wouldn't close with the little clown car. Mind you this confusion took about an hour and a half or more to finally get settled and we still had to drive two hours to our destination, FUN! Exhausting. Now the female manager there was supposed to have refunded us and give us a discount for not having our rental and nothing comparable - we did not receive the refund and we were charged full price for an explorer that we didn't even get. Luckily Sofiane was super kind and helpful - absolutely hands down the best employee - this guy needs a raise and a promotion, he kept in touch with us and he then made sure that we got refunded what we were supposed to, weeks later when the manager there wouldn't return our emails or calls. E side of NE 72nd Dr. just S of NE Andresen I wasn't a fan of this location at all which actually led me to stop renting from Budget Car Rental all together. They put at least a $250 hold on your credit card even if your total is less than $250... this isn't really a complaint so much as an observational comment. They use Experian to run checks on your credit, so whether it is good or not Experian can lock your ability to use any of your cards whether it is your debit or a credit card. They are the same company as Avis. The guy working kept referring to me as "my friend" yet wouldn't even let me borrow a charger for my own GPS...instead insisting that if I want the charger then I have to pay to rent the entire unit...GPS, charger, and case... if I was truly a "friend" he would have just let me borrow the charger. I returned everything a couple of days later as I picked them up. The total was considerably more than I had anticipated. I'll never use Budget or Avis again. Beware this location. They will fraudulently try and charge your card with extra fees after you have returned the car. They charged me an additional $50 plus taxes for "sand removal" even though the car was driven on highway and city streets for the entirety of the rental. When I called them, they claimed they were unable to open the receipt on their computer, so couldn't tell me why they made an additional charge. I called the Budget head office who after almost 2 hours of phone time were able to tell me what the extra charge was for. read more

Reserved through priceline - that was a disaster. If you use a debit card & have so-so credit or worse, they won't use it. Had to use mother's credit card and add me as a driver. Took way too long to rent the car. Should have left and went somewhere else. Employee/owner was nice though. read more

I give this company a zero, I had a terrible experience with this company. I rented a car for a day which was for $107 and these people charged me for three days which came up to $400 dollars. I would not recommend budget car rental because they are openly scamming people with credit cards. read more

If i could give them ZERO star, i would. They are simply HORRIBLE in every sense of the word. I was in Vancouver to help a family member move. We had reservation for a 24' truck so we could do one worst case two loads. We showed up at 8:30 when our reservation said we could show up. We were forced to wait 45 minutes to be told that our truck was not back yet from the last person that rented it. I asked why they didnt have at least TWO trucks he just looked at me. He told me he can get us a 16' truck which based on my math would have taken 3-5 trips instead of 1-2 (which with mileage cost us more money and in hindsight i was dead on). we opted for the 16' because frankly we didnt have a choice. Next issue is he tried charging us the full regular price not the online special price which is $10 less per day, i had to fight with him on this. Lastly, he told us we had to have it back by 7:30am the next day (not the typical 24 hours because we made the reservation online) I was rather upset because they normally do 24 hours from the time rented and we had already been there over an hour.... I asked for his manager's business card. During this whole process he took not 4, no not 5, no not 6 but 7!! SEVEN!! freaking phone calls stopping what he was doing helping us get our truck. Another 30 or so minutes later we FINALLY leave. Truck was okay other than the cigarette boxes & butts & bird crap in the cabin and sunflower seeds everywhere... so no the truck was terrible. To make matters worse because the last person obviously created a smoking party in the cabin we couldnt use the A/C because i would go into a allergy fit. Keep in mind it was over 90 degrees when we rented it!! Truck was mechanically fine other than the power steering pump was failing or it was low on fluid. We return the truck uneventful. I told him about the power steering and how it squealed while spinning steering wheel and was VERY labor intensive, he argued with me saying that all trucks do that... *sigh* We go back in and another 45 MINUTES LATER!! we had to leave without a receipt because supposedly their computers were down and he would tell me what was taking so long. I gave him my fax number to fax me the receipt. I was extremely angry at this point, so i pulled out his bosses card and dialed the number... the kid stops what he is doing helping me and answers the phone!!! I was over the top, I asked him to call his boss he refused. I called corporate filing a formal complaint and asking for a call back from the regional manager it has been 3 days with no call back. The next day I get the receipt and they charged me a return surcharge fee of an additional $10. REALLY! I had to call them again and wait for them to process that. I will never return to Budget as a customer. I walked into the Vancouver, WA office on August 14th at 4 pm to cancel my reservation for August 17, 2015 and the woman supposedly cancelled my reservation. Two days later, I got a reminder from Budget to pickup my car. I responded by cancelling it AGAIN. Despite the fact that I went out of my way to go there IN PERSON to cancel my reservation they charged me a $10 cancellation fee. I will never go to Budget again. I usually go to Enterprise, they have great service, they pick you up from wherever you are, they answer their phones and are responsive, especially the one at Vancouver mall. No other car rental agency has NEVER done this to me regardless of how short my notice is. This is an absurd rip-off. I cancelled my reservation 4 days in advance and they have the nerve to charge me! They have absolutely no justification for stealing my money! Avoid this place like the plague. If I could give them a zero or negative 10, I would. I will never rent from Budget again. read more

I booked 2 -12 pass vans on 3/31 for July 17, well in advance! On 7/15 I called to make sure they would have the vans for me and was told by the manager, Abacar that they would be ready. On 7/17 at 7:30 am- only 2 hours before pick up I was called and told that they don't have the vans and if I could settle for mini-vans. I explained that we were running a relay race and needed 12 passenger vans and that is why I reserved those. I was told to give him more time. At 10:25, our drivers arrived at Budget to pick up the vans and they didn't have any 12 passenger vans. While trying to find a solution, someone returned a 12 passenger van, so we got that, but we never got a second one! We were forced to settle for something on their lot. They offered us an expedition and explained how we were getting a great deal because it was actually a higher cost for that vehicle. We weren't looking for luxury, we were looking for sleeping room since our relay would take over 30 hours, but we had no choice as all other rental facilities didn't have any 12 passenger vans left. On July 19th at 10:30 pm, I returned the 12 passenger along with a few other individuals. The van was parked in their lot and the keys were placed in the lockbox. At 1:00am on 7/20 the Expedition was returned. On 7/24 I called to get a copy of my receipt because it had not been sent to me yet, and was charged an extra day for the Van. They claimed that the keys were not in the lockbox and that they were returned at 1pm on Sunday, 7/20. I explained that there was no way, that I was on a flight to LA that morning at 7 and that I personally was there and reurned the keys. The Manager, Abacar, promised to return my call but never did. I called back numerous times and was not given any information. I called again on 7/31 and spoke with Brandon, who informed me that I was not even on the contract. I tried to explain that these were big vehicle and we had 12 people. I was not in charge of driving, only booking and paying for the vans. I reserved the vans and need to reimburse the individual who picked them up. I will never work with this agency again and I hope this explanation helps others make a better choice when choosing a rental car agency. read more
