I made my reservation last minute, and CJ was actually really nice and attentive. I could tell he was ready to go home, but he still helped all six of us efficiently and made sure we were taken care of. I personally didn't care for the car he gave me, but I didn't give him a hard time about it lol. The next morning I was serviced by Devin, and he was extremely patient with me because I'm pretty picky. The service overall was really good -- I was able to get in and out quickly. Terrible place. Do no recommend. Cars are all scratched and dirty at least for me when I got my car. I picketed up the car at 5 and the car had just got dropped off from another customer at 4 because the paper work was left in the car. Very dirty car, wreaked of cigarette smoke. The first car that I got into smelled like an ash tray, the second Marijuana and alcohol and cigarette smoke, made my nose run and eyes sting. I Developed a headache after having to drive it for the better part of the day. This is supposed to be a seven day rental however, I am returning this relic immediately. I contacted The location right after pulling out of the parking lot and I made them aware of how dirty the car was and how funky it was and they told me that I can bring it back the following day and they can get me into a better one after looking at three of them I doubt very seriously that they have decent cars. read more

Do not rent a car from this Budget/Avis location. I picked up an Explorer for the Spring Break week and it was very dirty with someone's sock left in the back, chalk all over the back seat area, the drivers window worked some times and a few straight needles were stuck in the sun visors. The 3rd row seat was broken and wouldn't go down which they failed to mention. I would rate zero stars if possible. read more

I do not recommend this location. The car they gave me was dirty, covered in marks and the windshield was cracked. The Manager acted like he forgot to indicate that originally when I brought it to his attention. I had him adjust my form and sign it for proof. I would have rejected the car all together, but I had limited time and a baby to care for. Months later, they charged me for the broken windshield. Thank God I have a video recording! I had a feeling they would try something like this. Just don't do business with these people! Shame on them for trying to take advantage of a paying customer. read more

Renter be ware... The Cypress, Texas Avis location is scamming their customers. Be sure to take a photo of your gas tank. They will fill the gas tank up just enough to make it look like it is full and they mark on their paper work it is full, but really it is not. Then if you fill it back up to a little bit above how you received they will charge you for not filling it to the top, even though they lied about the tank being full and they do not tell you they are charging you for it. I happened to catch it because I checked the receipt they sent me via email, but the coward at the actual store printed out the receipt that had the original price they were to charge without the gas charge being included. Then they do not do proper oil changes, so you have to fill your own windshield wiper fluid, of course they don't refund you for that, even though fluid levels are their responsibility, you have to hope and pray that the engine doesnt explode while you are on your trip because they failed to do an oil change. They do not preform updates to their technology systems, or clean the vehicles, they do a half ass job of vacuuming it, but they do not clean any other nastiness from the prior renter. Please save yourself a headache and go to a different location or to Enterprise. read more

You can never get anyone on a phone to talk to! There is $50 on line cancellation fee if you cancel more than 24 hours before your rent! What kind of business model is it?Then mileage limit ! I booked a rental a few days in advance through Priceline. Getting the vehicle and doing paperwork was pretty easy. The man who I worked with was very nice. I returned the vehicle on Sunday, as scheduled. Upon entering the office I was told they are closed, but that he would take the key. He was very rude in this simple statement. It also was a lie as everything states they close at 2pm and it was 1pm. I think I will stick to enterprise from now on. read more

Had the worst experience renting a car at this location. Michael the is the worst Owner/Operator I've ever encountered. I had a confirmed reservation for a minivan and they did not have it available for me the day of my pickup. They tried to offer me a smaller vehicle that could not accommodate 6 adults. The clerk at the front did a great job keeping calm and apologized for the mishap. She directed me to call Michael and he was worst less. He said he would try to figure something out and would call me back immediately. I waited over 2 hours and heard nothing from him. The front desk clerk ended up calling other locations and finally found a vehicle large enough to carry all 6 adults. Thank you for your help. During my long wait at the rental car I heard the clerk talk with Michael and he was not help to her. I don't know how he ended up becoming a owner/operator. All I know is i will not longer do business with Avis due to his lack of communication and cowardliness to address the issues. I have worked with this place for a long time now and I've been beyond patient. Every time I reserve a car they try and give me an SUV. It always takes a long time so the Fastbreak is a joke at this location. I recently opened a business account with Budget and explained that I would be in their location at least every 2 weeks. I made a prepaid reservation and called 2 days and then 1 day ahead of pick-up to insure that I would have a car. I was told that they were sold out. I explained that I had prepaid and it didn't matter. I was told to call 30 minutes before coming to pick up a car, anything could happen. They would have "something" I could drive. This time I explained that I could not take a chance last minute because I just received a call that Mom was being transferred to hospice in Arkansas and I had to drive there to try and see her before she passes. He informed me that I could call the 800 number. Even after calling the 800 number they wanted to charge me a cancelation fee. What?! This is not my fault. After waiting on hold for about 10 minutes a supervisor finally helped me and gave me my refund. Now I get to start over with another company. If at all possible, avoid this location. read more

We wanted to rent a particular model for our vacation weekend. After calling the Budget headquarters we were told that they could not guarantee a particular model and that it is random. I stopped in and visited with Jermaine at the Barker Cypress location a few days before we were to pick up and he was soo nice and agreeable with doing his best to save a Ford Focus for us. I even offered to bring donuts or kolaches but he refused. When we came to pick up our rental he was pleased to show us that he had the top of the line Ford Focus for us! He even left us his cell phone number to call if we were going to be running late and that it wouldn't be a problem, he would not charge extra. If I could give this place a 0 Star I would. Just dropped off the car and it was condusing as hell. They gave me several different charges and never could clear it up. They refunded me a portion and charged some other charges which made may it very confusing. It felt as if they did not know what they were doing or just charging stuff without explanation. This business should have negative stars! On 8-17-2021, I rented a vehicle from the Barker Cypress location. I returned the vehicle on 8-20-2021at 8am as promised. Shawn was on his personal cell phone and did not come check the car or the fuel. Shawn failed to do his job and check the vehicle in. Shawn rented the car to someone the same day without taking it out of my name. That person turned the car in to the Lubbock location on 8-23-2021. On 8-23-2021, I received a threatening email from loss prevention demanding I return the vehicle. I had to have the police gone to this location because Mike did not want to watch their video showing me returning the car on 8-20-2021 at 8am. I have been charged for misculosbrous fees no one can tell me for what. On 9-2-2021, Shawn called saying the total charges was $494 For 3 days and was way more than what I agreed to or signed for. Shawn was laughing saying they had a case on me and I'm gonna have to pay what they say. Shawn is very unprofessional and I have filed a BBB report, disputed charges with my credit card and spoken to an attorney. Don't use this location! read more

I booked a rental vehicle two weeks prior to the date I needed to pick it up. I checked the confirmation email that was sent to me to see if I need to arrange in advance to have someone pick me up to go get the rental and there was no mention of this. Fast forward to the day I have reserved for the vehicle, I check the reminder email again to see if it mentions anything about a pick up service and it did not. I called the location and the manager told me that they are not picking anyone up today because they did not schedule enough people, that I needed to walk or get a Uber ride (for which no reimbursement would be given), and that it was my fault for not calling when I made the reservation to arrange for this. When asked how this was communicated to me, he basically said that it wasn't but it isn't his fault so I am out of luck. Pardon me? I rent vehicles for work constantly, usually from Enterprise, but chose Budget for a personal rental since it was a bit cheaper. Even renting for work I have had issues with this Budget location the few times I have tried to use this company. Sometimes it is difficult to get a pick up due to the volume of customers at a given time, but at least Enterprise offers to reimburse you for an Uber if it comes to that. The manager at this location put me on hold when I was asking how we could work something out, such as waiting a little longer for other staff to come in, but I was on hold so long that it switched to an answering service that was not able to take messages. When I spoke to Budget's customer service line, I was then told that I should have called this location on the day I made the reservation to arrange for a pick up. When I asked how this was communicated to me as a requirement, I was told it was on their website in their Terms and Conditions. I navigated to the website, then to the specific location's page, and there is not a quick reference for their "Curbside Pick Up" program (it was supposed to be clearly spelled out, apparently). At that, the customer service rep was aggressive in telling me that they cannot help, that it is too bad that they didn't provide the information on their emails when I made the reservation, and ultimately I should have called the location days in advance to let them know about needing a ride so that they could have scheduled more people. I have a hard time understanding why it is my job to make sure that they have enough people scheduled when they can look up the number of reservations and see that it may be a busy day. I also do not understand why, in previous dealings with almost every national rental car company, I have never been told that I need to arrange for a pick up days in advance but this instance with this location that is a requirement that is not spelled out for a rental that was paid for in advance. I was quite angry at this point, and stated as such, but I was also trying to explain that this information was not readily available nor clearly communicated while making the initial reservation, on the confirmation email, nor on the reminder email that was sent to me. Instead of being willing to work on some solution or even give the standard robo-language of how they will look into more clearly communicating this to customers, it seems like the representative's stance was to speak louder and more aggressively to make the "problem" get off the phone. I realize it is right before Thanksgiving. I can also understand having some difficulty due to a high volume of customers. What I do not understand is the lack of planning that has occurred since the manager was apparently the only one working and the unwillingness to say, "Hey, this is a problem in one way or another." Obviously customer service is lacking and I'm done dealing with this location and this rental company in general. I was a believer in AVIS rental car as I am a preferred member and always use them. It's amazing that one poor customer service experience can change one's perception of a company. I rented a vehicle on a Friday for a short weekend trip. Friday I noticed that the air was not cooling when the car was idling. I didn't think much of it so I continued on my journey. Saturday it was extremely hot and I wasn't in the car much but did notice that the car was not cooling. Sunday when I was on the way home about an hour into my drive I was sweating and the air was blowing hot air for the next 4 hours. I returned the car a day earlier due to the issue with the air. Avis removed the additional charges from my reservation as if they were doing me a favor. I called customer service to request additional compensation for the inconvenience the customer service representative was so rude. She would not listen completely and offered me a $30 coupon for my next rental I requested to speak to a supervisor she refused and told me that someone would call me in 48 hours. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE, after this experience I don't want a coupon for the NEXT rental. I feel that they are trying to bully me into using their service again by offering a coupon for the next time when the issue accrued this time. This is not the way to conduct business. read more

It's very saddening to have to write this review especially since my experience here prior had been really good. I rented a car here and prepaid online. This was a one day rental so I returned the car after hours and left the keys in the drop box. I called the next day to confirm the vehicle had been received well and they confirmed all was well. The next day I checked my card balance and found that my card was charged twice. I called and was placed on hold for so long that it transferred me to a reservation line. Once I finally reached someone I was told to wait because there was a customer in store (though I was a customer who had not only paid but over paid). *In the future just ask people to hold. Don't mention the customer in the store is more important than those on the phone.* Once someone finally got on the phone they told me they couldn't use my confirmation number to pick up my reservation,which was crap, THATS WHAT THE RESERVATION NUMBER IS USED FOR! I explained that the reservation number could be used and he finally said "oh ok, yes I can use that" (eyes roll) After he looked over my record he saw that had in fact been charged two times and that they would resolve the issue. I'm still waiting on a resolve but I don't recommend dropping off your car at this location because someone did not care to do their job properly and clearly everyone's service is not as outstanding as Michael's. read more
