I love it there. A little bit dated, but Wayne and his wife are the best. They were so flexible with us and our schedule when our car broke down outside Green River, Utah. Wonderful spot to stay for $50 a night, comfy beds, big rooms, and exactly what you need for the price in a pinch. Great people and great spot overall!! PROS: Free wifi (good signal in room 3, decent speed - I was able to watch videos) 64 channels Really comfy bed, complete with soft sheets and nice pillows Nice hot water Spacious room Pet friendly Quiet area, but close to food and gas Continental breakfast Clean CONS: No alarm, phone, or tissue box (I didn't care, but I've never seen a motel without them) Walls were a tad thin - I could hear my neighbor snore occasionally, but I couldn't hear anything else Continental breakfast: Dark and strong coffee (but not bitter: overall, a great cup of coffee), HOMEMADE muffins (they were really good), two types of cereal, bread and assorted jams, plus milk, a big assortment of tea, and TANG. The owner (at least, I think he was the owner) was really nice and quite energetic. We chatted in the morning on my way out, and he gave me some tips and recommendations for the nearby national parks (Arches NP is about an hour away). He also gave some of his homemade blueberry muffins for the road... overall, a really nice, chill guy. Bottom line: As a single female traveler, I felt completely safe and comfortable in this place (I was a bit hesitant to stop there). It's a little beaten up (cracks in the paint, a bit of peeling wallpaper, that sort of thing), but it isn't run down - it actually seemed well cared for, it was clean and cheap, and the owner is awesome. How this place has 4 1/2 stars is beyond me, other than the other reviewers being used to sleeping behind dumpsters. I arrived around 9pm. I walked in the lobby and there was no one to be seen. It took around 5 full minutes and 3 rings of the buzzer for the guy at the lobby to show up. Why was he not there? Because he was getting towels for another customer's room. He looked and sounded like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. Behind the desk of the lobby could best be described as "male dorm room cleanliness." Plastic bags full of trash, empty Amazon boxes, other stuff that shouldn't be in view of customers. The lobby smelled a little bit like this one house I went to where they never cleaned the litter box and tried to cover the smell with air freshener. When he came in, a customer also followed him into the lobby. He ended up giving the guy a refund, saying, "I've never had to do this before." His wife apparently refused to stay in the room, which should have tipped me off to the condition of the place. I was passing through, and this was a last-minute option. I didn't want to stay at the Motel-6 down the road, thinking there was no way this was worse(I stayed there last year.) I needed a place to stay for 2 nights because I was planning on spending a day in the national parks nearby. After he took care of that poor guy, he gave me the key to my room. An actual key. Like, look at your keychain right now. It's one of those. Not a plastic card that you slip into the slot that opens your room. Real throwback stuff. I went into my room. It looked ok, a few stains here and there on the carpet, but I've seen that before. I'm no stranger to budget hotels. I was however, new to noticeable cracks in the wall. The bed was surprisingly clean. If there were any stains on the sheets, I would have joined the other guy on the refund train. The rest of the room was clean enough, nothing stellar but passable. In the morning, I wanted to take a shower. I could not figure out how to make hot water come out of the faucet. Sometimes with the two-knob-style tubs you need to figure out how much you need to turn each knob to hit the sweet spot. However, with this shower, I turned the "hot" knob full-blast, with nothing on the cold knob and the best I got was "almost approaching room temperature." I know the place is called Budget Inn, but am I being a primadonna for hoping for a hot shower? I think that's the basics, right? So I took a shower that can best be described as what I imagine a prison shower to be like. As short as possible, with pre-soaping, and as little water directly hitting me. Interestingly enough, the bathroom faucet had plenty of hot water. Makes me wonder how plumbing actually works. I hid everything I didn't want to take with me in the dresser, stupidly hoping an unscrupulous cleaner wouldn't bother to look in the drawers for anything worth taking. Fortunately, I didn't have to worry about it, because no one entered my room. You know how I know this? Because nothing was touched since I left it in the morning. Towels were on the floor, bed was unmade, etc. Again, "Budget Inn," but still? Now the price-per-room is really clicking in my dumb cheap head. I guess the free breakfast is ok according to the other reviewers, but I didn't even bother to find out for myself. There was no reason to believe if could possibly be good. Beyond unimpressed. The A/C was not working, the main parking lot was barely lit and the alley in back where you park if you're in one of those rooms was not lit at all -- in addition, it's super narrow and packed with garbage. We parked a U-Haul out front and within minutes a couple of shady-looking characters were scoping it out (seriously, standing on the running board looking into the cab -- if my husband hadn't been walking our dog just a few minutes after checking in, I'm not sure what would have happened). The final straw was that the door did not lock properly. We did not feel safe, so we left. When I called the next morning to express these issues and ask for a refund, the manager/owner (I'm not sure if he actually owns the place or just runs it) screamed at me that the A/C and door were just fine -- I don't know what constitutes "just fine" in his opinion, but the room we were given was anything but. He did, in the end, issue a refund, which is about all I can say in his or the hotel's favor. read more

I wanted to do a quick layover on my way to Salt Lake City and booked the Budget based on its price. It's certainly a little run down, but the owner is one of the nicest people I've met and has been hugely accommodating. The Wi-Fi works great, the room was clean, and my every need has been met. Not that one is in Green River often, but if I was passing through again and needed a place to stay, this would be the plus. Plus, the blueberry muffins are wonderful. read more

Just wanted to share my experience with the motel staff. I called the motel yesterday to confirm my booking since I did not receive an email from booking.com to confirm. A man answered the phone with no greeting and roughly told me that I did have a room booked...he was annoyed with my call. I called again the next morning to let them know I needed to cancel and was going to ask to rebook for the next day. A woman answered the phone, again no greeting and got off the phone before I could explain myself and told 'the man', I was cancelling.... I heard him say, " she is fu@king going to have to pay for it...." The call was brief and they were rude with their ability to help me get my questions answered. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This "motel" was beyond nasty. Very old, carpet torn, room was obviously not cleaned. Found dirty socks and a vapor smoking device. Beds looked like they had bed bugs, my daughter didn't sleep on the bed she slept on top of the vanity dresser - luckily she had brought her pillow and blanket. Spent at least an hour killing mosquitoes that were in the room YUCK!!! Hopefully the walls were cleaned because I left mosquito blood splats everywhere. We used our own bottled water to brush our teeth and wash up...forget about using the dirty shower stall with sulfur smelling water. The front desk guy was really friendly probably from all the weed he smokes, long hair and dirty clothes should have been our warning, but too late to cancel and find another place to stay the night. We should have slept in our car it probably would have been just as safe and much cleaner. read more

Terrible night. The room was pitiful. The light outside was so bright throughout the night and the curtains so thin it was painful. Toilet did not flush, had to life the lid and pull the chain. The shower was disgusting, did not appear to be cleaned in years. Trash all around the hotel. Paiint peeling and rotting wood in the room. Great water pressure though. The owners were gone. This was the only hotel with a room when we drove in at almost 1am. We were a little concerned because of some of the negative reviews but were pleased. Our room had one queen bed and one king, which was perfect for our family of 5! The beds were very comfortable and the morning coffee was good. The owner (I assume) was very friendly, no complaints. The motel is a budget motel, not a 5 star resort. We expected budget motel for the price, and from the outside looks of it. We got what we expected and were happy with it. It was nice spending half the price of the other hotels when all we needed was a bed and hot shower, especially on a very long road trip with lots of expenses. read more

Hotel looks old on the outside, but is a gem on the inside. Property is well-maintained despite the non-thrilling outside appearance. Owner/operator is a very nice guy. Great selection of teas all day. Very nice breakfast in the morning, including home-made blueberry muffins. Rooms are roomy. TV-sets are old-style CRT types, but 60 channels were present.
