They say you get what you pay for. In this case you get much more. I was truly skeptical when Rex quoted their price. "This will not be a good experience " I thought, given the price. Somehow, it was good experience and not just good but exemplary . They have their timing and crews down to a science. The entire re-surfacing process took about two weeks. Jackhammered off the old plaster , added a layer of brown coat due to old rebar coming thru, followed by a new layer of speckled fun and an acid wash and some sprucing up to the deck. All in two weeks. Granted we voted for no bells or whistles but no one tried to upsell us. Rex responded to every text within one day, usually hours and took care of any requests within one day. I'm still scratching my head wondering how all this was possible at thousands less than our neighbors paid another company. Seamless process. pretty as a picture pool. 10 year warranty. After looking at a number of vendors (including the original builder, Shasta) that do pool resurfacing, we decided to work with Budget Pool to resurface our fairly plain 80s/90s era white plaster pool with a newer and more durable surface. Tony, Rex, and the crew were great. Once we decided to work with them, they came out to the pool and we looked at a bunch of their vendor's options for both tile and mini-pebble materials and we eventually settled on some tropical blue colors that turned out looking great! Our pool is small, so they got the work mostly complete in 3 non-consecutive days to chip out the old surface, put in the new tile, and then do the new pebble surface. Tony was out at least once to check on things and monitor progress. The price was my favorite part - as for similar jobs, other vendors quoted me up to 50% more than Budget Pool, so that is fantastic. We moved into a house in January 2020 that had a pool already built. To our surprise, the plaster began chipping right away without much activity beyond cleaning. We got quotes from 4 different pool renovation companies and Budget Pool Renovations was the most reasonable priced and communicative. Rex quoted us 4-6 weeks to resurface the pool and add a Baja Shelf (tanning ledge). He even let me pick my start time. We chose October to wait until after swim season. At first I was concerned they weren't going to make the quoted time frame because it seemed they were only doing one thing a week. First week drain, second week chip out, third week build shelf, 4th week resurface. But they stayed right on schedule and even let me change from the original Universal Minipebble we chose. The color we ended up with was Costa Mar. Once we filled the pool back up, the water looked a little green for about 3 days, but after chemicals and running the filter for 72hrs straight, it cleared right up and looked GORGEOUS! I will say this is a company that keeps things basic. If you're looking for intricate mosaic tiles, infinity water edges, or other fancy upgrades, this company will be very forthcoming and tell you that's not what Budget Pool Renovations specializes in... which I can appreciate. read more

Please be aware of fake reviews, the same photos of the pool in the review by Torie (the review before mine) was used by a Victoria in Google. Different person, different photos, different name, different reviews, same pool. They clearly pay people to offset the negative reviews. Don't fall victim like I did...Search the ROC by the first and last name of the qualifying party, Rex, and see he previously owned a company that had three disciplined cases with the ROC and a Revoked License. STEER CLEAR of this company. I think since Rex took over this company went downhill. Poor workmanship, breaches of texted agreements, employees drinking on the job and leaving beer cans, kids cutting feet on uneven surfaces, gashes to the interior, stained grout, mismatched grout, splattering all over our yard, trying to increase prices after you agree to bid and pay, terrible decking job, false promises, just too much to list but I think our BBB complaint explains the worst of it: Description of Complaint: A dispute arose regarding the quality of work performed and Budget Pool Renovations placed an invalid and unlawful lien on our property. They were notified by our attorney that they were violating Arizona state law which requires a written and signed contract with the property owner in order to file a lien on an owner occupied property. They had no such signature or contract. Arizona state law also states that they have no longer than six months to enforce the lien which would force the home into foreclosure, they failed to do so because the lien was invalid and would have been thrown out in court. After their six months expired, by law, they lost their lien rights but they went down to the county and placed another invalid lien that is unlawful, groundless, and unenforceable. They are now engaging in paper terrorism and clouding the title to our primary residence which prevents us from selling or refinancing in order to bully us into paying for something we disagree with and that they refuse to fix. What they are doing is actually a criminal misdemeanor as well, next we will be looking into filing charges if possible. In response to owner's comment: We gave them an opportunity to fix the problems, they brought a "tile guy" who mixed grout with his finger in a water bottle and tried to fix the tile with his fingers underneath the water without dropping the waterline, the tiles fell back off the same day, he also stained the bottom of the pool with grout that was falling off his fingers and failed to correct any of the other items, they said they would have to come back out again and we did not want to have them continue making things worse and realized that we would need the entire pool redone after we saw it at night with the lights on, we did become willing to negotiate once more and we had a conversation with Rex and we asked if he was willing to fix the tile, he said no, we asked if he was willing to fix the interior, he said no, we asked if he was willing to fix the decking, he said no. He said he could get the pool under warranty and we asked him how he could do that since it was already voided due to improper procedures caused by their failure to get the pool equipment up and running and he couldn't answer. His response was; "well, we'll see you in court." That was the last we heard from them. Rex is very difficult to work with and unprofessional. We asked to work with Tony only and he agreed in person then kept having Rex reach out to us. The neglect and incompetency we have experienced with this company is beyond anything we have ever experienced. We have pictures, text messages and proof of everything. They are now filing liens that they cannot enforce just to harass us. Tony, validating that you have a lien on our property is only further proof of your criminal activities. You only reiterated the same thing I said, giving me credibility while further highlighting your incompetence. Sure, anyone can look up a lien just as anyone can look up lien laws to know that you have broken the law. We never signed a bid with you because you kept trying to increase the pricing after we paid our deposit and were waiting for you to correct the bid which you never did. We told you from the beginning this is not a money issue, this is an ethical and quality issue. You failed to do the work you promised to do, fix the items we asked be fixed, even ones I could prove were medically necessary due to my eyesite, all were things promised in writing via text and bid that you failed to deliver. I'm sure giving out our full name and address while slandering us online/verifying you illegally lien properties will really make others want to work with you too, great job! Tony and Rex were very responsive in getting to my house and giving me an estimate. The price came in very reasonable and included putting in Pebble Tec (not the brand but a similar product with sand and glass) , building the Baja deck and changing my tiles. The estimate was 2 weeks to deliver. The tiles are Italian in aquamarine color and the pebble product I chose was sand 3. Pros: 1) the team was very professional, friendly and did the service well. They left the area clean and did a good job. 2) the pool was delivered in two weeks as promised. 3) the pool looks beautiful and I am very happy with it. Cons: 1) I never knew what time the men were coming. If I didn't work from home I could not have done this project as there was no scheduling whatsoever. There were days they came early, days they came late, days they did t come. there are different crews and one does not communicate with the other. 2) Tony is busy so he often does not respond to texts. I was trying to find out scheduling and if the men were Coming and at times couldn't get answers. If you call him he will always pick up tho. We have been wanting to remodel our pool for many years. We had several quotes from different companies. We found Budget Pool Renovations and their quote was reasonable. Where other companies seemed to want to throw in as much work as possible (replace pipes, equipment, etc), Budget Pool Renovations only quoted the minimum based on our preferences. The choices for materials was also limited in order to keep the price down, but the quality was very good. They quoted 4-6 weeks for the project and they finished in 5 weeks. Before work began, we received quotes from four other companies. Budget was the lowest, but that isn't the reason we selected them. They were very up front about everything - answering all of our questions and not pushing back on us for requests. (For example - one company said that we HAD to replace our pool tile. It was a $3200 charge. Well, we very much like our pool tile and figured why spend the extra money if we don't have to? When we told Tony our desire to not replace the tile, they said it wasn't a problem. Even with the added construction of removing the in-pool spa wall, his team did not damage any of the tiles.) Overall the process was very quick, the quality of work is great, the price was great. The only complaint I have is that all of the communication was re-active from Tony - he wasn't pro-active with communicating with me in respect to project timelines, expectations, etc - but he was very responsive when we sent emails. My pool was built in '94 an was really in need of a remodel. I decided to go with Budget Pools and definitely made the right choice! Rex showed up on time, sent the estimate the next day and started shortly after. Picking out tiles, decking color etc is not easy for me but Rex was very helpful with suggestions. The project went exactly how it was explained and even finished early. The end result is better than I expected. Tony helped with some plumbing issues that were not included in my project which was awesome. What was done: replace plaster with mini pebble, remove old cool deck and replace, install the acrylic lace on the patio, new tile line and skimmer bridge repair. There was a miscommunication about the deck paint color but it was corrected the next day, super easy fix. The only part that I think could improve is more details in the written estimate about what exactly is included. Everything that I needed was included (not in writing) so it worked out anyways. The price never changed The owner is responsive to concerns and available via text The Bad: The workers they use are extremely LOUD and play loud mexican music outside all day. No care for whether you'd mind or not. We didn't. Neighbors did. The are extremely messy. They did not clean up well after their job and we will be cleaning up remnants of them for months to come. The deck itself should have been pressure washed when they were done, not just the pool. It's covered in stone dust like the rest of my yard. Pieces of plaster everywhere. The pool equipment should have been pressure washed as well. Its completely trashed. It's completely covered in dust from all the stone cutting they did right beside the pool. The owner Tony is a nice enough guy but you really have to watch his guys closely as they work because he will not. He will basically only come out and address concerns if you call him. Which is not ideal. I didn't expect him to be doing the work himself but having a supervisor or himself swinging by a couple times a day would be nice. Shortcuts. They took some shortcuts to the ultimate completion of the job which allows for them to come in a little bit cheaper than competitors. I wasn't aware of that when booking but quickly saw it during the job. Hopefully the shortcuts don't cost us in the long run. Update: Just for the record NO ONE asked anyone for Thur documentation. He was able to come out the very next day after I contacted him to come see our pool and give us a very reasonable estimate to resurface with mini pebble, repaint the cool deck, and upgrade our equipment to add an auto leveler and dedicated vac line. He explained different options to us and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need or want. He even suggested keeping the existing waterline tile as a way to reduce our costs since they were still in good shape. Despite finding and repairing a leak in the main drain of our pool after chipping out the plaster, there were no hidden costs or additional fees charged above what was initially quoted to us (always a concern with any renovation project) - which I was really impressed by. He also finished our project a day ahead of schedule, it took less than 2 weeks total. Tony was always easy to reach and very quick to reply to any messages.
