I'm thankful we didn't have the same issues with waiting in line as so many other Yelpers. We got into town late so perhaps that helped. After checking in we were given the parking number to locate our rental. The keys were in the car. We had some challenges getting the console to light up and sync to our phone for GPS. We drove it back to the window and a Budget agent hopped into the car to get it displayed. Check in was a little disorienting; however, the airport does a good job with signage. We turned into the Budget line, an agent scanned the car as returned, we tossed the keys onto the dash and emptied the car to catch our flight. My husband reserved the car online and stated Budget had the best offers. We also needed the car an extra day because our flight was delayed for hours - and it was only another $15. I'm sure we'll get a few extra charges for tolls and gas, but that's expected. I was happy to know the plates are already registered and all we had to do was drive. We had a really frustrating experience with Budget at MCO Airport. When we arrived, the line was extremely long (easily 60+ people) and there were only 2-3 employees helping customers. We waited over 80 minutes just to reach the counter. At one point, a woman appeared to be trying to help but kept switching between computers and seemed unable to complete transactions. Eventually she just left. The manager came out looking for her, and one of the employees said she had gone home; even though there were still dozens of people waiting in line. The manager didn't step in to help customers either. To make things worse, one of the other employees working the counter eventually walked into the back room, leaving only two people trying to manage the massive line. After a while, Budget finally asked the Avis employees for help. The Avis employee who ended up assisting us was actually very kind and efficient, and we appreciated his help. Overall, this was one of the worst rental car experiences we've had. The lack of staffing, organization, and management support was shocking for such a busy airport location. We will never rent from Budget again. If you're flying into MCO, I strongly recommend choosing another rental company; many of the other counters had little to no line, or their lines were moving much faster. read more

Terrible customer service at the front desk in the Orlando airport. He was nice until I declined all the extra insurance fees. I told him I have full coverage then he went on about toll fees and gas I declined them. When I received my bill it was $515.00 I was quoted $345.00 on the phone and on my reservation. He stated there is a refundable $200 deposit. It was 6:30 am I took the red eye so I trusted the paperwork and signed it. You can imagine my surprise when I was billed $715.00. When I phoned customer service they said that is not the final bill. My final was almost $800 with a $59.61 gas bill, $118.00 toll bill. Because he charged me $15 a day for tolls. I cross the tolls a total of 15 times. Then there's $116.00 for fees but doesn't say what fees ‍. $50 for convenience of picking up your car at the airport. Bottom line they are a dishonest company and you need to make sure you check all these fees they add to your contract. After 15 minutes the line never moved because the two customers were both having issues that took extended time. Then later on, you'll receive in the mail a list of "surcharges" (in my case they totaled almost $300!) that have been charged to your credit card. (they have refused to refund any of this) 2) even if you refuse the extra charge for insurance, make sure that the consent forms for insurance aren't "inadvertently" included in the paperwork that you sign at the counter (you know, you're told just sign here and here and here and you'll be on your way). After I returned the car, I asked for a refund and provided several reference numbers; I was first offered a refund for one day, which I knew was impossible given the 400-something dollar bill, and then was told I'd get three days off once the bill was closed--yet I only got two days, plus they charged me for gas even though I'd refilled, and charged for an EZ Pass that wasn't mine. They refused to refund $94 in change, and the whole process felt like they drained my account and forced me to fight to get it back. Absolute scam artists and nasty vehicles. Upon picking up my vehicle, the inside of the windshield had such a film that I could barely see out of it, and the gear selector had a huge booger stuck to it. Rather than gripe and make things take longer, I cleaned it myself. Trip continued, retuned the vehicle a few days later. Fast forward several weeks and I receive a bill in the mail for $2000 worth of damage that I did not cause. Presumably in the name of "efficiency", these rental car companies no longer due walk arounds at the time of pick up and drop off, so unless you take detailed, time stamped pictures of the vehicle yourself, they can go ahead and blame you for damage. In this case it appears that there was a dent in the front fender where it meets the door. I didn't notice it upon pick up if it was even there, and it was barely able to be seen in the picture the sent with the bill. It's probably not a coincidence that I opted to use my own insurance coverage instead of purchasing theirs either. With a $1k deductible and a perfect driving record, this expense was out of pocket. My agent basically said that I'm screwed without any proof that I didn't cause the damage. This is theft. I wish I could give it zero stars, but since I have to give it one star. We picked up the car. It was full of open food containers with ketchup smeared all over the car. And then we discovered that the car was losing pressure in the tires. We tried to fill the tires but they gave the car to us with a nail in the tire....and so we tried to call and ask for them to come and help or to allow us to exchange it, and they kept saying that he had to talk to another Person at Customer Service even though I called the customer service line on the piece of paper. We then continue to drive around on the flat tire and the change oil light came on. We then the next day decided to drive to the closer budget rental car after being on the phone with them for another hour to see if they could exchange it at a closer location so we didn't have to drive 45 minutes to the airport to exchange the car. And they did not have a car that they could give us. So we drove back to the hotel, to change hotels and now have to drive this to the airport 45 mins away. If we don't die in a crash first. Budget is super unhelpful, no one on any of the lines know what's going on. Why are they paid for nothing. And if the closer location had just picked up and been able to tell us that they had a car for us or not, we would've had to have wasted that hour.. budget you need to do better I get that you're charging less but still we spent almost $1000 on this car Rental and we've been treated like garbage and the car was garbage as well. read more

Centre rear seat rest when unfolded was filthy with some sort of white cream soiling the seat. 1 star - Unfair charge and terrible customer service My experience with Budget Rent a Car was extremely disappointing and frustrating. During my rental, a side window on the passenger sliding door broke after hitting a pothole, with no accident, no collision, and no fault on my part. I immediately reported the issue, was given a case number, and followed all required procedures. When I returned the vehicle, I reported the damage again and provided my personal insurance (Ocean Harbor Insurance) so the claim could be handled properly. Despite this, one month later Budget charged $354 directly to my account, without prior notice, without resolving the case, and without attempting to process the claim through the insurance. The most frustrating part was the complete lack of communication and transparency. I received no call, no email, and no explanation before the charge was made. They simply took the money, leaving the customer with no opportunity to dispute or clarify the situation. A window can break due to normal road conditions, especially on a large passenger van, and it is neither fair nor professional to hold the customer responsible when insurance is available and all procedures were followed. Budget shows a clear lack of respect for its customers, poor claim handling, and abusive post-rental billing practices. We got to the car rental counter and I was told I had to use MY card because I was the driver but I was not going to get charged. They agents were friendly enough, we ended up with a brand new car (only 13 miles on the odometer) for our trip. On the way back to MCO, we had filled the tank at a station less than 10 miles away. However, we were charged a $55 fuel surcharge because the location claims we returned it nearly on empty. Budget is asking for receipts to prove we spent money on gas before returning to the airport, they won't accept a bank statement because it doesn't have the address of the station, just the station number. When I ask for documents showing the tank was empty, they "don't provide documentation." They want proof of my claim but won't provide any in return. It stinks that I need to prepare a forensic audit and defense just to keep this merchant from charging us random fees. If you rent from Budget / Avis, keep good documentation so you don't get overcharged. I reserved an infant car seat, but what I received was a rear-facing toddler seat--with no infant insert, no head support, and no proper padding--making it completely unsafe and unusable for my 10-month-old daughter. Because of Budget's failure, my daughter--who has never cried in a properly fitted car seat--was so uncomfortable that she cried uncontrollably until she vomited. The only reason we used the seat at all was out of absolute necessity--to get to and from the airport. Beyond that, we were effectively stranded, unable to go anywhere we had planned because it was simply too unsafe to put our daughter back in that seat. What should have been an enjoyable vacation turned into a frustrating and stressful experience. Upon further investigation, I learned that this was not an isolated incident. Orlando International Airport had been out of infant car seats for over a week before my rental, and rather than addressing the issue, Budget knowingly provided toddler seats and falsely passed them off as infant seats--putting countless infants at risk. When I returned to the airport to fix the issue, I was told that this is what Budget considers an infant seat simply because it faces the rear direction. This is beyond unacceptable and a blatant disregard for child safety. After reaching out to Budget on February 16, 2025, I received no response. It wasn't until I escalated the issue to the Florida Attorney General's office that I finally got a reply--weeks later--claiming they "weren't given the opportunity to make things right," so they refused to do anything. Instead of taking responsibility for their dangerous negligence, they shifted the blame onto me as the customer. Let me be absolutely clear: I would not put my child or anyone else's infant in that seat again if you paid me a billion dollars. If this is Budget's version of "the best they can do," then their "best" means putting infants in harm's way and leaving parents with no safe options. This company's disregard for safety is appalling, and I strongly urge families to think twice before renting from them. Beyond the clear safety failures, the emotional distress this caused my wife and me was immeasurable. Wow I wish I read the reviews on here and on Google before booking here! Long story short, the front counter people are just trying to grind out commission and don't see it as their job to help you get your car. Long story long, when I was checking in to get my car at the counter, I realized I must have made a booking error and asked the person at the counter to help me figure out what happened so I could get my work receipts straightened out. Instead of listening to what I was saying, he just interrupted me to say that he didn't add anything to the price and said this several times when I was trying to explain my question. But I knew this already and never once thought or said that he said. Looking back on these reviews of sneaky add-ons, I am more understanding of why he was so defensive, but that never even came up in our interaction. He also accused me of causing a scene over three dollars (it was much more of a difference, but I also was okay with the money, not at all what I was asking him to help me with). Finally, he told me what I was saying wasn't possible and telling me that I was wasting his time and costing him money. To this I was genuinely curious so asked him how, and he said that he was a salesman. This really struck me that he considered his main job to be selling upgrades and extras and not actually helping someone check in. I don't blame him personally, just the corporate structure that made customer service non-existent here, and from reading the other reviews, rampant scamming of customers for commissions. He finally looked up what I asked him to and my issue was resolved in ten seconds, which he could have saved himself the time if he hadn't spent it berating me. I rent cars frequently and the interactions I've had are unfriendly or cranky at worst, but nothing ever worth complaining about. There are so many options at this airport and many are well-reviewed. I will preface this with...Going to any car rental place...I try to be as patient as possible. We were excited to hop into our car and get to our hotel for the evening. It was already 9pm. We waited roughly 25-30 mins to talk to a rep. Once we did he was very pleasant. While we were talking to him one of his prior customers came up and said the car they were trying to find wasn't in its spot...hmmm. We opted for a small midsize car so we had to go over to the other terminal. After a very long walk and not the best directions provided we finally made it to the right level. When we got to the space that our car was supposed to be...guess what...it wasn't there. Then we weren't about to head back to talk to him so we ended going to the tiny kiosk in the parking garage. Then after another 20 mins there, they gave us a new number. Walked over to that parking spot....yay there was a car! Then all of a sudden a couple shows up saying that the car is marked as theirs...at this point with a young son we already had our bags in the car and needed to get him to the hotel. Instead of grieving my sister's death with my family, I had to deal with exchanging cars back at the airport. The worst, however, was the horrible response of Budget's customer service representatives. Not only was my phone call transferred hither and yon through multiple overseas departments, the prevailing attitude was "Not my fault, tell someone else." As a final insult, when I received my statement, it did not include the compensation credit I was offered. I was told I had to call back in two days if I wanted to be compensated. I set up a reservation at MCO but was not flying (local rental.) There was a complication with my CC at pick up, so I gave a debit card and they would not take at all because I was not flying. No mention of this when I was online. I received a confirmation of my reservation paid full in advance...all I needed to do was show up to pick up my rental. No mention I could only use a CC if I was not flying. The first time I heard about this policy was when I arrived at pick up. I spent the next 2 hours a on the phone with Budget only to hear them say... we are sorry but there is nothing we can do. Listen there are many negative reviews about Budget MCO on here and they cover many situations. Read them carefully before booking I would say there is probably some merit to them. Budget MCO does NOT care about customer satisfaction, customer loyalty or resolving an issue. They know you need the rental. You are at their mercy so they will hold hard and fast to their policy and they don't care if it an inconvenience to or for you. I would say they probably don't care that you are on a dream vacation and about your experience in Orlando. If they have the opportunity to flex their muscles to their advantage they certainly will. read more

We rented a vehicle in Richmond, VA expecting to have a good weekend and instead had multiple issues with the car not wanting to start and twice the vehicle power steering cutting out while driving. After almost dieing twice in the death trap Budget put us in we were soo uncomfortable driving it we had to spend extra money on doordash and ubers just to complete our weekend before swapping the vehicle out to drive back to Richmond. My girlfriend and I just got back from a vacation in Orlando and had a less than stellar dealing with Budget car rental out of Terminal C. There was an extremely long line and slow turnover rate just to get up to the counter, but this isn't my complaint. After waiting in line from 45 minutes to an hour we finally reached the counter. After going through the spiel about insurance, multiple drivers, etc., we discussed the toll package as well as the fuel package. We stated that we didn't want either of these and would pay for our tolls ourselves and would fill the car back up with gas upon returning. I'm sure by now you can see where this story is going. I'll admit we should have read the fine print and took our time signing off however with such a long wait and being ready to start our vacation we just signed. Flash forward to the end of the week when we are returning the car and finally take a look at the receipt for the car, noticing that we were charged for both the tolls and the gas. Luckily we noticed that we were charged for gas so we didn't refill the tank however the $10 a day toll fee (or whatever it comes out to) we were stuck paying AND we had already paid all of the tolls out of pocket. We tried calling and arguing our case with Budget however they don't care and wanted us to supply receipts for all of the tolls we paid. I don't know about you but I don't normally ask for receipts at tollbooths. Needless to say, this review is a warning if you use Budget Rental Cars. Make sure you read all the fine print. Today October 10, 2025, I went to the fast break window because they claim the envelope will be there, just grab it and go but no envelope and no one working. I went back to the terminal with 30 people waiting online, many fastbreak customers in the same situation. I called customer service and they said fill out a survey. Avis had people ask working. She does not give reason- she noticed there were so many people ,so she came immediately from office to help clear the queue, very considerate, who were standing in CHS, SC in North Charleston (line/queue for Budget and Avis) while we came from Southwest Airlines from Baltimore, MD (February 21st 2024-Wednesday)- there were many passengers in the queue, she came and knocked off so quick and in an amicable way. I prepaid a month before for a large SUV Chevy Suburban for my family's Florida trip. I called the night before to add a child car seat to my reservation and the lady said no problem. I received an email directly and it showed that they downgraded my vehicle to a jeep grand Cherokee, which is significantly smaller. I called them back immediately and explained that I needed the larger vehicle but they said it was no longer available! I called back twice to ask for a manager but had no success! Then the app told me to use another emailaddress. I have know idea why. So, I just deleted the account. I the did a different account using a different email address. The account would not let me use my credit card in fastbreak. Ot said to use another card. I do not have another card. So, I figured maybe it was because I used my card on the account I deleted. I contacted Customer Service. I was informed that even though we delete our account it is never deleted on their in. They can always pulled it up. It is deleted where we can't see it or access it. We waited for over an hour just to get inside the ropes to wait even longer. I have never seen such slow paced employees behind the counter. They started with three employees and then went down to two. We started timing home long it took each customer and some took 15 min while most took 10 min. Absolutely absurd!! We ended up canceling after being there close to an hour and half and rented from Sixt. It took me less than five minutes to have keys in hand and driving out the garage. Rented in Sarasota FL at the airport. The pickup was disgusting inside and out. Smelled of cigarettes and had fresh ashes all over the inside. A crusty liquid spill consumed the drink holder and ran down to the carpet.
