Horrible rental company. Price gouging for extras, total bill was double what we were quoted on southwest website. I had to rent 2 vehicles because one wasn't big enough for our family, they charged me 100$ extra for my son in law to drive the second vehicle and the car seats were as much as the mini van before all the hidden fees and taxes. Do not book your car rental through Frontier for a budget car rental. The price was good but everyone on the Frontier flight did the same. Budget service could not handle the overflow of customers. We waited in line 2 hours with only 2 employees handling customers. Never Again!! And someone walked up to desk when we were next in line and gave some "bull story" that the rep agreed with!! Very disappointed in this car rental. We got to the counter and the agent told me that my reservation was frozen in the system and he could not open it, so I couldn't get a car. He told us that we needed to call headquarters. We called and they said they needed to cancel our reservation and make a new one. When he tried, he said he could not do it since Budget had no cars at this location. So they basically gave our car to someone else. We then had to go to another car rental company and pay 150$ more for a car at 11:30 PM. They did nothing to help or compensate us for their mistake. read more

I pre-paid for my week rental, after returning the car I received an additional charge of 8 percent to pay for the new cost of rental, even though I had pre-paid. So keep in mind that pre-paying does not cover the total cost of the rental. I feel that Budget uses dishonest business practices and will never use Budget again. read more

It was definitely worth the Uber trip to go away from the airport to a stand alone rental site in Sarasota. Their weekly price was half the airport cost. Chris was great! She was accommodating, and offered me upgraded cars at no extra charge. She was flexible and let me extend my rental at the same excellent rate. She stayed past closing time (6pm) to make sure I was on the road safely. Two thumbs up!! read more

***BEWARE*** ***BEWARE*** The Tamiami, Sarasota location sucks! The site is dirty, the customer service reps are rude, cars are unmaintained, and the wait times are outrageous. The worst part is that the Branch Manager Betsy, is a mean nasty woman. She accused me of stealing car keys from my rental after I put them in the drop box. After she checked the video, she told me I was no where near the drop box. "So, where are they?" She was obviously too lazy to double check where they were before calling me, because they ended up finding them later that day. And did she call to let me know and apologize? NO! The people from corporate sent me an email and they apologized. This place is so mismanaged that I'll be surprised if this dump is open much longer. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HELL HOLE! Worst car rental experience ever. Picked my car up at Tampa Airport. They gave me a new car that apparently was still in transport mode and most electronics didn't work. Spent 1/2 day just to get it exchanged at Sarasota location. Had to wait as if I was a new customer. Horrible customer service..no apologies. Nothing done to try to make up for their screw up! My son booked a car on priceline. Paid it in full, went to get the car, but didn't have a credit card, so they wouldn't rent it to him. So they told him to call Priceline to get the refund. Called Priceline, refunded insurance but the remaining 900 had to wait until the car would have been turned back in, November 23. Priceline said they already paid Budget, so Budget is giving my son the run around. I assume, we will need to contact the Florida Attorney General and then sue them in out local area. Also, they won't answer the phone if you try to call. They are scammers, do not use Budget. read more

I was discriminated by a Cuban representative, really horrible experience, I made the car reservation through costco travel but she said there was something wrong with my license and she refused to rent me the car after she found out that my rental was going to be only for 24 hours, why did she care so much for how long my rental was going to be ? I don't know, but she said there was something wrong with my license, I haven't gotten a moving violation or parking ticket in 20 years, anyway hertz down the street were so awesome that they even picked me up from that horrible place and took me to their place for free and upgraded my car for free too, if you're reading this rent from Hertz. read more

Watched the car I reserved leave as I got luggage with my 2 kids, So when went to retrieve car, they didn't have the car I rented, wouldn't take my bank card, charged me 200 dollars more , then gave me a filthy car.. refused to refund my money. Here the best part- drumroll: see final picture. Protocol on cleanliness- ignored. The parking valet gave me the card of manager as was disgusted as well. He was disgusted! I would very highly discourage you from renting from this location. I had booked a car to be picked up by 6PM. I was stuck in traffic and called the location to tell them that I would be arriving a few minutes late and was told that if I arrived one second after 6, the door would be locked. I miraculously was able to get there with a minute to spare and when I picked up the car, realized that it was dirty -- they had not washed the outside or cleaned the inside. At the airport when I dropped it off, the person was rude to me. Never again will I rent from Budget! read more

I've rented at this location several times and have received great service every time. It's a small operation, so you won't get a wide selection of cars to choose from in your category, and the car I'm using now had not been washed, though that isn't a huge problem. I like renting from them because the people have been accommodating and easy to deal with. They let me return my car at the airport for no extra charge, which is a huge benefit. I take an Uber or Lyft from SRQ for about $25 and after the rental, just drop it off at SRQ when I'm ready to fly out. I can't speak to what happens when you're late returning the car because I always allow plenty of time for contingencies, and I've never missed the deadline. You should also know that if you need something extra--GPS, kids' car seats, etc., you need to be sure to order them in advance. read more

On, Tuesday, January 12 I picked up my rental car at this location. There was only one agent on duty. I patiently waited about 30 minutes to be called to the desk. I noticed only about 5 cars out in front- none were the Hyundai Elantra I reserved. The agent stated that she only had available a Mazda 6 or a huge SUV. I asked about the rest of the cars in the front of the building, specifically a KIA Optima. "The other cars are undergoing maintenance. I chose the 2021 Mazda 6, which had all the upgrades, and the integrated navigation-infotainment screen. I hooked up my phone via Bluetooth. The infotainment screen seemed to connect, but no sound came out of the speakers. I then turned on the radio- no sound either. I notice the navigation button, so I tried to put in the direction of where I was to go. The directions came on as a red line on the map, but; again, no voice. As I was already late for an appointment, I let it go. On the freeway, I notice the arrow is pointed in the exact opposite direction to my destination. After my appointment, I consulted the manual, located in the glove compartment; and followed the steps to reset the system. Nothing worked. It was the same as before. I noticed the Mazda dealership was just next door. I asked the service manager to test the connection, and he casually stated, 'you know? A renter was just here 3 days ago with the exact car! Go and demand a new one!" I drove next door, and the same agent was with a customer, but there was another person in the lot who had just pulled a new car from the back lot; a Chevrolet Impala- a big sedan. I ask if he can help me. He answers, "one minute" and then disappears! This time, a bit miffed, I go back to the original agent, and, in Spanish, my second language, let out a stern order. I demanded the Impala, and tested it thoroughly in front of the agent. In sum, if this (and the others in Sarasota, including the airport) are lax in checking out brand new cars, then they are giving Avis-Budget an extremely bad reputation. Word to the wise---24% of the American population speak Spanish as their first or second language, and there are MANY non-Hispanics or non-Latinos in Latin America and Spain. They can be of fair skin and blue eyes! I was married to one. read more

Returned the box truck we rented from TN, and after 1,600 miles, we gassed up when we left the interstate 15 miles away. When "Jeff" came inside after checking he actual tank level, he literally yelled out loud at me that I didn't "Fill the tank up", over and over again. I have never been treated so rude in my life, I drove the truck across the street and placed 3 gallons in the tank. I would never give this location business. They treat you horribly, have no customer service and I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of their mouth. read more

I have rented here several times. Always "ok," not great, not fast, but decent. Today was different. I made the mistake of not returning the car full. I drove 1 hr each way on the freeway. The car said it was getting over 30 mpg. That's 4 gallons. They charged me $68 for gas on a $45 rental. That's also over $15 per gallon!!!! Now, I know that car rental companies charge more for gas. I reserved a truck online the night before coming to pick it up the next morning. I drove 15+ miles to get here because they were the only place around that had any available that weren't sold out. Arrived at the budget rental and was told there are no trucks available to rent! They said "someone" should have called us and told us there were none available to rent. No one called and I drove over 15 miles to get to this place! The woman was rude and didn't even offer to try and help us with another rental. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This is a combined Budget/Avis rental place. Budget offers better prepaid discount than does Avis and I like their cars better. My previous day rental for business, 2 weeks ago, a worker disconnected their wifi and wreaked havoc for hours, but this time no drama. There's a gas station directly across the highway to return the car full, although you take your life in your hands getting across 4 lanes of traffic on 41. This Budget location is terrible. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. we reserved the van 2 months ahead for a trip to guarantee the car we needed or something similar; because that is what we were told . They did not have the van or a similar type of car as promised by 10:00a.m.. The customer service is awful. The manager, Betsy was who was working at the time looked at us and said we don't have what you need, as if we should turn around and walk out and go else where. After many calls and complaining because it is now 1:00p.m. we had to then drive to Venice and pick up the car. At that time I was charged $3.00 more then the original quote. No biggie, after that I let it go. When we returned the car the final amount was 100.00 dollars over the original amount. They overcharged me. When we returned the car the girl never went over any charges before finalizing it . She handed me the bill and when I questioned the difference she said you should of told me what your original charge was before handing me the keys. IS THAT MY JOB AS THE CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!!!!They don't even have a computer system that does that . She then complained that the computer system is terrible and old. At this point she told me she could not credit me the difference, the manager would have to, One week later still no credit. I called back and the manager Betsy said she needs to take it up with her district manger who's name was Chuck . That is what I was told a week ago by the other girl. She would not give me Chucks last name or number. This is such a joke I can't even believe they are in business. Now I am taking it up with my credit card company and a lawyer. DO yourself a favor and go to Enterprise. It is worth every penny. Budget is terrible and the Sarasota Location, They also service Avis there too. Stay away.
