I've rented at this location twice this month. I've had a good experience. Even the quality of service improved the 2nd time around. The first time was fine but I realized after leaving the lot with my rental that the maintenance sign was on so likely the car was due for an oil change. It didn't affect me during my 4 day rental period so that was good. Overall, this location is alright with me. I usually book at the airport so I'd say this is a good runner up. read more

We rented a Chevy Malibu for four days. Checking in, getting the car was pretty quick no problems there. The car smelled of old, cigarette smoke. The worst part was when you turn it in they charge you all kinds of miscellaneous charges. We filled it up with gas and we turned it in. however they charged us for half a gallon (.9 it was at .4) I guess it wasn't full full.‍ there's some additional miscellaneous charges that we can't understand what they are so that's a bit frustrating that no one has responded back to our questions and comments on the website after returned into vehicle, disappointed read more

It is 12:11 and we still haven't gotten our 10:00 reservation. This is ridiculous. The man working here is juggling it all on his own. There are a dozen other customers... he is trying to clean the car, deal with issues, return cars, etc. They are short on cars despite everyone having reservations. Have been traveling on business and pleasure for close to 70 years now. Just had the absolute worst experience of my life at the Asheville Regional Airport Avis/Budget Counter. After returning our vehicle following a grueling and oft-delayed cross country trip from California, which was handled satisfactorily by the female rep on duty, we were told we'd need to wait for other people who were ahead of us to get a new vehicle we'd ordered. The Avis/Budget counter is in temporary quarters outside the actual airport so there is no place to sit and relax, just stand. We were told we'd be called on our cell phone. When after 10-15 minutes, perhaps longer, and there was no call, I checked in again to see why a prepaid car was not yet available. Was told it still was not available. My wife had a major stroke in March, has dementia, and becomes agitated when, if she has to wait for things for any length of time, let alone a vehicle at an open air airport rental car outlet with no seating or other facilities. More time passed. When the area was fairly clear of customers, went to a window with an older 50ish guy in a blue striped shirt to ask the status. He said he was not available and closed the window on us. This really upset me, given my wife's current medical condition and fragile status. When a few minutes later I went to the woman on duty and he starred at me, I called him out on his behavior. He proceeded to criticize me, concluding with "You are a poor representative of the state of California." I've worked front desks at 3 different top-rated hotels in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys since I retired 10 plus years ago. Never would a comment like this have been tolerated. Nor I suspect at most other hotels and customer service establishment. A person would be fired on the spot. And so should this guy! Immediately. read more

Worst rental car company/location I've ever been to and I've rented cars countless times from many locations. Half the time this place isn't open during their listed opening hours. Also, I've been fraudulently charged by a tall white man who works there. Luckily, the national customer service reps have been helpful with addressing the issues. read more

This place is just ghetto and the young guy behind the counter had no clue what he was doing! My biggest gripe here is that he told me that I needed to return the car w/a full tank and I was already running late, so when I was about 5min onto the highway, I notice that the gas tank is already two notches down...what!? No way, I had driven maybe 6mi tops at that point and it was a small compact car so the guy had given me a tank w/less than full! How freaking fraudulent and I was just lucky I caught it when I did! I calles Budget Customer Service and offered to send a pic of the gas gauge and mileage as well as the notation that the car was given to me w/a full tank on the contract! They told me they would correct it and to return it w/the tank as I got it (which I did!), but I just can't help but wonder how many people get scammed by this location! Just terrible! read more

So, i used to come to this location all the time, to work with Tonya. She was great, customer service skills were on point, and was always willing to go above and beyond to meet a customer's needs. I believe she was a manager here. Well, in the last year, i have seen her at this location less and less... don't know if it is supposed to be temporary or if she has permanently left. But every since she has been gone? The customer experience just has not been remotely close to what it used to be. There currently seems to be a very young staff, who are often on their phones when you walk in and/or dont always greet you upon arrival. Wait times can be long. As i currently sit here, for over an hour might i add, i am being told the car i reserved online the day before is not actually here and that i will need to continue waiting until their FLEET team brings more cars..... There is another customer here in the lobby waiting as well. When he asked if the lady at the counter could call another location on his behalf to inquire about the car he had reserved and see if the other location (just 3 miles away) had his car available (because his car wasn't actually on the premises either!) She told him "no" and that she can only see the stock available for this location. What kind of customer service is that??? This location is close to my residence. But, i am perfectly fine with going further away to a different location for a higher quality of service. read more

I reserved a rental at this particular location with my debit card on Monday for the following day at 11:00 PM. When I called the next morning to confirm my rental before taking a Lyft to get there (I didnt want to leave my own car) I was told that they no longer had the 16 foot truck. It had been rented out to a walk in one-way- rental. They considered the walk-in a confirmed rental. The customer service agent stated she may be able to find the 16 foot rental at another location or she could offer me a 12 foot rental at her current location. I asked if it was their policy to give away a rental, even if you have secured it with a card. She assured me saying, "Oh yes ma'am, we certainly can if someone walks in and they are a confirmed rental." I then asked her what she meant by she may be able to find me a rental. Her reply was I have customers in front of me that take precedent. I then told her fine I would come right in and be a face in the place customer. I arrived 15 minutes later to look at the 12 foot rental of the truck. I decided to take the 12 foot rental, only to be told that the check engine light was on and they could not rent that one. They told me they would have to call me back when another truck came in. By this time it was one hour before closing . I never received a phone call to say nothing came in, we're sorry. I wasn't surprised at all. I was very surprised thar two days went by and my bank showed a charge of $75 for a no-show. Unbelievable! If my reservation wasn't a secured reservation why the heck was I charged? Better yet, why didn't they hold my truck? This location is beyond unprofessional and their practices are atypical. In addition to not having my truck, I was told that in order to rent the truck they would have to personally speak with my insurance company to verify my coverage and speak to my credit card company to verify that my credit limit would cover a commercial rental. I have never been asked to provide both my insurance company via phone rep and my credit card via phone rep in order to rent anything. I was closing on my house and had to move, so all of this was very stressful and time consuming. Fortunately, I was able to go to a U-Haul right up the street and rent a truck. It took all of 10 minutes with the option to waive or accept their insurance. I did not have to provide anything but my credit card and my drivers license , I will never ever rent from this tacky, unprofessional Budget location. They need a full overhaul in training. Additionally, the whole time I was in this office along with another family who had kids younger than mine, we had to listen to a rap song that kept repeating, "you wonder why they call UBITCH, that's why they call UBITCH." I am not sure why anyone thinks that's OK. I reached out to customer service but I have yet to hear back from management. Hopefully this review warrants a phone call from leadership. Very poor service. I initially reserved a vehicle and my appointment time was not honored. The gentleman that work here truly need additional customer service training. After waiting, I received a vehicle with a cracked windshield and the vehicle smelled of cigarette smoke. When I presented my concerns to one of the staff members he dismissed them and told me to take the car to the airport if I wanted something different. In my experience, that responsibility would fall on the rental company to have a vehicle brought over, especially if the one they are providing is damaged. Overall, it was an awful experience. I'm was left waiting for help to park the truck and trailer forever and I had filled up the truck to as high as it would go but was told it wasn't enough. The manager was nice enough to lead me back to a local Exxon and I put $10 more in but the truck still wouldn't go all the way up to Full. The truck was an absolute POS junk bucket that's not even roadworthy. Will never use Budget again I can tell you that! read more

This place is terrible and unprofessional. We reserved a moving truck to be picked up on Friday at 530pm. When we got there, there was no truck available. They encouraged us to call customer service the next morning at 8am and then call them back at 830am to see if they had a truck for us. We did and they were rude and not helpful. We called Budget back at 830am and they kept hanging up on us, so we went to the location just to find out that they gave away 2 trucks (after telling us they would hold one for us). Apparently this place doesn't honor reservations or care at all about its customer service. Absolutely awful. This place is extremely unprofessional. I've used them twice and both times were a disaster. The staff is rude and untrained. They were unable to use their computers. The experience I had today was the worst. When we got there despite having reserved a moving truck and holding the reservation with a credit card they did not have a truck. I called the local number 30 minutes prior to my arrival just to make sure we were all set since I've had a previous bad experience. We were assured they had plenty of trucks on the lot. When we arrived 30 minutes later we were told they had no trucks. The reservation clerk did not try to make any accommodations. She suggested we try a different location. The entire lobby was full of angry people. They were flippant and unconcerned. The previous experience I had with them was renting a car ( they are also Avis). I rented a car from Budget in South Carolina and returned it today, less than 24 hours, in North Carolina. The customer service in South Carolina was stellar. However, when I got to this Budget rental office, the doors were locked with a sign that said "be back at 9am". I knocked on the glass with no luck. Then, a woman lazily strolls from around the corner smoking a cigarette and holding keys and talking on her cell phone. She opened the doors and hung up her phone. She did not greet us or apologize for having the doors locked. Not to mention, she was wearing jeans and a top that was showing her stomach. The whole experience was extremely unprofessional. I had planned to extend the rental at that time, however, after dealing with her I decided to just return the car and go to enterprise less than a mile down the road. Walking into the enterprise was like walking into a different world compared to Budget. Seriously disappointed in the service. Obviously, never using this rental agency again. read more
