I'm surprised to see these reviews as we had a very good experience. We were unable to opt for a cargo van through the website to move a lot of boxes from Seattle to Los Angeles, so we settled on the smallest moving truck option. When we arrived at the pickup here, we told the man working (named Sunny) that we had hoped for a cargo van. He told us that he had good news because they had one available and that the rest were all reserved for Amazon deliveries. This was a huge win for us as the cargo van is much easier to maneuver and it had a backup camera as well. Sunny was super helpful and kind and he's the reason for the smooth trip we had and the five-star review. I hope others are able to interact with him so they have a similar experience to ours. read more

Horrible experience. I was rented a broken moving truck which I was supposed to drive from WA to CA with. Problems with the truck before driving it off the lot (check oil light, water pump written on window and potentially still needing to be serviced?) and the front desk guy dismissed my concerns. He was very rude and unhelpful, and also forgot to give me the dolly & moving pad rentals. After loading the truck (only halfway full) I begin my trip and immediately check engine light comes on. Wait 3 hours for roadside service (at midnight in sketchy area of Seattle) and mechanic says it's a 'misfiring error' but 'should be fine to drive'. At that point decide to postpone departing till the AM. Next morning only make it 20 min on freeway before engine overheating alert comes on repeatedly. Spoke to front desk guy and asked if he can look at maintenance reports as I was worried it was unsafe to drive (maybe problem w/ water pump?). He was again dismissive and told me he can't help. Called roadside assistance again and this time wait 5 hours for help. Mechanic finds that thermostat is stuck open and cylinders misfiring - deems it unsafe to drive. 2 hours later give up on getting the truck replaced/serviced (Budget didn't have replacement trucks till the next day at the earliest) and end up getting it towed and paying to rent a Uhaul. No help from Budget transferring load into new truck. After being delayed a full day and waiting for 10+ hours on 3 different roadside assistance calls, the Budget truck only made it 40 miles on my 800 mile journey. Still waiting to hear if i'm getting my $1,300 refund for an unusable truck, hotel room for extra day and 24+ hours of wasted time.... Everything about the experience was unlike anything I have come across - given other complaints, their biz should be shut down as fraudulent. Tip - NEVER use Budget for truck rentals, stick with Uhaul - far more reliable (and affordable). read more

Illegal charges. The employee Sony (maybe it was spelled Sonny?) said that the daily $10.99 "roadside safety net" was mandatory because I did not buy the insurance. I told him I would not sign for the charge. He said "it don't matter we already charged your card." I called budget customer service and the customer service said this information was "completely false." I had to call his boss Sergey to get the charges reversed. I'm glad his boss reversed the charge, but it was completely unacceptable for Sony to intimidate me with "it don't matter we already charged your card." Earlier when I picked up the truck, I had reserved a cargo van but the rental agent said that they did not have a cargo van. Either the reservation system is broken or the employees here were lying to me, in any case you can't count on having your vehicle there for you, which defeats the purpose of a reservation. --- Update on Oct. 22 2014: Amazing, since writing this review five weeks ago, two additional people have already complained about this business on Yelp. Imagine how many more got ripped off and didn't even speak up. We rented a car from this location and arrived to find it covered in snow and 1/4" sheet of ice. I called the man in the office who had just given me the keys to tell him it needed to be scraped off and his response was, "There's a scraper in the glove box." After looking in the glove box and not finding a scraper, I called back. This time he told me to look in the back. I told him there wasn't a scraper in the car. When he finally came out to scrape the car, he had the nerve to say, "YOU NEED TO START THE CAR AND GET IT WARMING." I told him that the car should've been scraped and ready for me to drive with no response from him. This was all standing outside in 28 degree weather. No apology from the employee. I have had my fair share of moving van and rental car experiences, however the complete disregard for safety and comfort that I experienced this weekend was one that will likely prevent me, my friends and family, from using your company ever again. There was a large concern from the moment I arrived to pick up my cargo van at the Budget Truck Rental facility in Seattle, WA. The attendant lacked communication in helping me to understand the mandatory insurance coverage and road side assistance procedures; policies that I felt entitled to learn about given their unknown additional expense. Upon agreeing to the policies and their cost, I was informed that multiple service lights were on in the vehicle and would remain on for the duration of my 1,400 mile trip. I expressed to the attendant that I was not comfortable driving such a long distance, by myself, with the check engine light and tire pressure light on in the vehicle because I would be left unaware should an actual issue arise. I was told that these lights were on because they were replaced by "after market parts" and there was no way to turn off the lights. I decided to trust the attendant and go about my trip. Additionally, throughout my drive, the break light would continually flash on my dashboard with no apparent reason. When I arrived at my destination on the first night of my trip, only 400 miles away, I told a friend about these lights and he insisted on checking the tire pressure himself. He found that the tire pressure in all four tires was significantly low - more than 20 PSI below the posted recommended tire pressure. He filled the tires to their recommended PSI, the tire pressure light went off and remained off for the duration of my trip. This goes to show that there was a major lack of effort given to ensuring that the van was ready for rental services. Another major concern was the top tail light being completely missing from the rear of the car. An easily rectifiable issue that significantly aids in the safety of the vehicle. Finally, the parking break was rendered unusable due to damage to the handle. A feature I would have loved to use given the incredible expense of my rental and the contents of my belongings. While the service lights and tail light were the main point of my concern, in general, the condition of the vehicle should be considered unsafe and unacceptable from any reputable rental car agency. Although I am highly disappointed in your company's complete disregard for safety, I wanted to draw attention to this so that hopefully another patron isn't subject to these conditions. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. I rented a Budget moving truck online and even confirmed the rental the day before with the 1-800 number, I would have confirmed with the actual pickup location on 4th Ave but they weren't answering their phones. Got to the location to pick up the truck and they had no trucks. Not even the one I reserved and confirmed. I had movers waiting for me at my house at $75 an hour and still no truck. It didn't seem like a big deal to them. Why couldn't they call me to say, sorry we don't have a truck for you? That would have given me more time to find one at another company. While I was still at Budget Rentals I called the 1-800 number and they said someone would call me back within 15 mins to 2 hours to help me find a truck. It took an hour to get them to call me but by that time I already had rented a truck from UHUAL. Do you think I got an apology? NOPE! UHAUL SAVED THE DAY!!! I called Uhual and they were able to give me a last minute cancellation for a 15' truck. I had to drive from downtown Seattle to Tukwila (10 miles) to get a replacement truck. They even gave me a $50 credit for the extra miles I had to drive to get the truck. They were amazing! UHUAL only charges $28 for full coverage for damage/accidents. Will never rent a Budget Truck again as long as I live.....would not recommend them to an enemy. To be honest....the truck itself had some good qualities....the cab was roomy and clean, and the engine was strong and smooth.....but----- 1. There was a speed limiter on the 12' truck I rented. 75 mph. Was a one way rental from Seattle to San Diego. Have you ever driven on I-5 in Los Angeles? Other drivers treat 75 mph as if you are bicycling. I found the speed limiter hazardous, and it was not explained to me that this feature was installed on the vehicle. 2. The steering was not crisp and responsive, it was mushy and sloppy.....this really created a problem on road surfaces that had a seam in on one side or the other......didn't so much drive the vehicle down I-5 as hold on for dear life. 3. The windshield wipers dearly needed changing, they were skipping on the windshield, smearing more than clearing. I hit both rain and fog in Washington and Oregon and needed the windshield wipers to perform.....and they did not do so adequately. This was an unnecessarily stressful and angsty trip for me due to the mentioned issues with this truck and life is too short for that kind of experience. Horrible experience. I made a reservation to rent a 15' truck for a one way move. I went to pick up the truck at 8:00am, as scheduled. When I went in, the person inside said, "we don't have a truck for you, sorry." I said, "how is that possible, I reserved one.". She said, "sorry, here is the 800 number to call. I told her that I had made hotel reservations at the destination, and it was too late to cancel (same day). Sorry she said. I told her this would cost me over $800 that I cannot get back. She clearly didn't care. I called the 800 number and they said I will get a call from someone, and no supervisor was available. I got a text from budget saying that no nearby budget truck rentals were available. That was it. Don't use them. I was told at the 800 number that they can only guarantee the price, not the truck. Reserved a truck online for our move over Labor Day weekend. Received a confirmation email 2 days before from Budget- everything seemed fine. Show up Sat a.m. and the owner says they don't have a truck for us (!!!) We have our entire place packed up, ppl coming to help us move, and it's a holiday weekend and NO MOVING VAN! He offers zero help- won't call another location, nothing. He just sits there, offering no explanation or apology. Mind you, this is at 8 a.m. and he has a lot full of trucks waiting to go, and there's no one else around. He tells me he called me yesterday and left a vm - it's true, I check my vm and see he called me at *4pm* on Friday to tell me he no longer had a truck for me on Saturday. This is actually the second time I've rented from this location: with easy online reservations, an accessible SODO location, far cheaper prices than their competitors, and a good fleet of everything from cargo vans to long trucks, they're an excellent pick. Our check-in and check-out were fast and easy, and the sales assistant gave us some good tips on using the dolly vs. the hand-truck in terms of what would work better for our needs. I also overheard both employees working hard to get another customer a really good deal on his rental price, so the service was top-notch. In fact, we even forgot to return the dolly with the truck later that afternoon, and it was no problem for us to bring it back the next day. If you're doing a local move and, like me, don't have any helpful friends with pickup trucks, do yourself a favor and save some money (and your sanity!) by reserving with Budget. read more

Reserved a truck online and they sent me a confirmation with an estimated charge. Once I get there to pick up the truck I find out there is a REQUIRED $26 insurance charge (I have insurance, which covers rentals). When I brought this up they pointed out the fine print, which states that it is only an estimate..blah blah blah. If this is a required charge it should have been disclosed on the estimate, only time its acceptable to not is for unforeseen charges. This obviously isn't. When I told them I would never rent from them again and that uhaul charges less and treats their customers better they just snickered. Here was the crux of the problem: He told me they required insurance. I was suspicious but thought, ok, I've been here too long, Ill take the insurance. As I was signing the paperwork, liability came up. He said I hadn't purchased liability insurance, just insurance to cover the truck. This was surprising/confusing. I thought "so you're saying you were going to let me drive your 8-ton truck 1,000 miles without any liability coverage?" Doesn't seem like Budget would allow that level of risk. So I asked, "can I purchase liability insurance?" He told me yes, I could buy liability instead of insurance on the truck. "Wait..I can buy liability INSTEAD of truck insurance??" Yes. "So then insurance on the truck isn't required?"....(moment of hesitation) he replied that I had to buy one or the other. HA! So neither one is actually required. In the end I didn't believe a thing he said, I wanted to tell him to shove it. I cancelled all insurance options and got out of there as quickly as possible. Of course this made the drive a bit more nerve wracking because I was worried about the insurance on the truck. When I arrived in CA I was worried about dropping off the truck. I recently rented a 24' truck with a tow dolly for my move across the country. The previous Yelp reviews scared me prior to my rental, but decided to go with this location in spite of its 1.5 stars, since I lived in SoDo and it was only about a 5 minute drive from my apartment. I will say that whenever I dealt with someone at this location, I informed them that they had terrible reviews and Yelp, and warned them that if there were any extraneous charges or other unprofessional conduct, that I would be joining the other displeased customers in recommending no one else ever do business here. Unlike many of the reviewers here, I had a very good experience. The staff (Ruslan was who I dealt with) was very helpful. He was friendly, professional, very cooperative in explaining the ins and outs of the truck, and had no problem marking down additional already damaged areas to ensure I didn't get held responsible for them upon returning the truck. He even stayed a few minutes late to help me hook up the tow dolly and my car. I won't discount the rest of the reviews on here, it sounds like others have had terrible experience with this location. Maybe Masood Q's review and pending litigation has scared them straight. After several moves with different rental companies over the last few years, all I can offer is this advice to help remove as many hassles as possible. 1. The online reservation is typically separate from the individually owned and franchised facilities. I once rented from Uhaul with an online reservation, only to show up at the location on my reservation for them to tell me I didn't have a reservation! I would recommend booking online through the central system, so customer service has an easier time finding it. When you do that though, ALWAYS call the individual locations in advance of arriving at the facility. Give them your name, and confirm that they have your reservation. For this Budget rental, I actually went to the facility beforehand (1 week before, again 1 day before) to make sure everything was in order. This won't be possible for everyone, but at least a phone call will help. 2. Don't be afraid to inform them if you have read negative things online. Ask them how others could feel that there are extra charges. Have a copy of your online reservation with you, including the number and estimated charges. And be sure to read the fine print. While you may not agree with this approach, I even told my representative that regardless of whether or not he did well, I would be naming him in my Yelp review. I find that sometimes helps gain better service :) I hope this helps others who rent from this location. Definitely be wary of the negative experiences of others, but go in eyes wide open with a cautious approach and you should be OK. read more

I reserved a truck on Thursday from Panen LLC, a Budget franchisee, for pick up on Saturday. I arranged for 3 people to move who all showed up on site. When my driver went to pick up the truck he was told they won't have one until 2 even though i reserved it for 10. I was also told that the driver, who i listed as an additional driver in the reservation, needed to have a credit card that matched his license even though i had put my card in the reservation. When i tried to talk to you people at the desk they were rude and refused to talk to me. I now have to pay my helpers who took time to show up at 10 and hopefully get them to come back when i can get a truck. This was some of the worst customer service i have ever experienced. Never use this firm. I went to Penske and they were awesome, helpful, and same price. read more

Absolute KUDOS to the Budget Truck Rentals at 2724 4th Ave S in Seattle, Washington! I was hired to haul some personal items from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Seattle, Washington within six days time. It took a couple of days to load the items and I opted for the Las Vegas / Reno route as it cut off about eight hours from my total drive time, thinking it would keep me well within the six days time I was allotted. After a few hours into my drive, when I got to Flagstaff, Arizona, the rental truck started to show the engine light. I called up Roadside Assistance who told me that they could not do anything and to see if I could get to the nearest city to exchange the rental truck. The nearest city was Las Vegas, Nevada. It took me approximately 12 hours to get there, as I had to stop and let the rental truck rest every thirty to forty five minutes. The trip should have taken me only 4 hours, tops! When I got to Las Vegas, they told me that it would take a couple more days to get an exchange. I waited a couple of days and was told that it would take a few more days. I had already exhausted my credit cards on food and lodging and had just enough cash to get to Reno and maybe on to Seattle. I called up a Budget in Reno and they advised me that they could do an exchange there. So, I made my way to Reno - again, painstakingly slow as the engine light was still showing up. I got an exchange in Reno; but, by then, after a slow drive, unloading and reloading the rental truck, I had to take a day off to recuperate. (I had to sleep in the rental truck, to save on funds, in the 90+ night time heat!) By the time I arrived in Seattle, I was three to four days over my rental contract. As I had exhausted my funds, I had to get a loan to cover the extra days. The Budget Truck Rental store at 2724 4th Ave S in Seattle, Washington worked with me. They allowed me a couple of days to get the loan and pay in full. They were very friendly and professional - from Sonny Phirama, the manager, to the guy who initially set aside the glasses and made sure word got back to the manager, and to all of the people who work there at Budget Truck Rental, 2724 4th Ave S in Seattle, Washington! On top of that, I had to catch a plane back to New Mexico and, in the rush to get to the airport, forgot my Ray Ban prescription glasses. I called them up, sent them a prepaid USPS box, and they sent back my glasses in a NEW case with a nice, cool wiping cloth. We phoned back and forth and they made sure that I got my glasses without scratches, damage, etc. I was and am THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED with the Budget Truck Rental at 2724 4th Ave S in Seattle, Washington. I can't stress enough how much their caring and professionalism means after dealing with the other rental truck agencies during my trip! When I was on my way I got a call that they gave away my truck and could only offer me a smaller one that wouldn't work. I called the (800) number and was told a scheduling manager would call within 15 minutes to see if he could find me a new truck. He never called. I cancelled the reservation and got a U-haul, which is what I should have done in the first place. This was the worst customer service experience from beginning to end. Customer service was very bad here. I reserved a 10 foot truck online and the rep kept pressuring me to buy their insurance. He told me I need to ask my auto insurance if the truck is covered under my policy. I had called my insurance the day before and they told me moving trucks are covered. The rep then proceeded to tell me that they don't have 10 footers anymore and gave me a 16 foot truck instead. Then he went on telling me that since its a 16 footer, my insurance won't be covering that size of a truck. I told him I don't care and I don't need insurance. DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE at 2724 4th ave S if you want to actually get a car when you come. This is a nightmare place and i have never experienced anything like this before. Can you imagine coming down to get your rental car and there is no cars there?!! And no way to rectify it? 1. I booked through Costco Travel on the 24th of november 2. the address isn't even correct, it's about another half block down 3. When i arrived, the manager seemed to be in distress and a couple who was renting a car at the same time very frustrated. 4. i found out there were NO CARS available. NONE. 5. The manager said "he had called 3 hours ago and distribution hadn't sent one down yet". I asked him if that every happens and he said "oh it happens all the time" 6. Well near to 12PM there were still no cars available. the other customers left for another location. 7. I asked him to check around for other locations and they had cars but also were closing at noon. 8. He said he couldn't take me there either because no cars were available. If i were manager i would take a customer in my own car just to get this resolved 9. He told me "go to the airport, take the light rail" (i had come on the bus). 10. He kept repeating "it's $2.50, $2.50, just $2.50". So i had to get on the light rail and go all the way to the airport, way out of my way and I lost 2 additional hours, in doing so. 11. What kills me is that he knew there were no cars available since 8am. He could have called me to let me know then i could have made different arrangements, instead of coming down there and HOPING a car would be available. The service here is unimaginably terrible, juvenile and lacking in any quality. I wanted to warn people NEVER to rent a car here because it may simply not be there when you go. Don't rent here - save yourself the headache - it just isn't worth it. They slipped in an additional driver fee without notification that there would be one in the beginning. It wasn't until we returned the vehicle that we saw the charge. I asked them why they charged us since we were married (and we have never received a charged ever in 23 years of renting vehicles) and he said it was because we had last names. That shouldn't matter! There are loads of married people with different last names. Anyhow, I asked them to refund and of course they didn't have a manager on duty. No manager on duty?? Even a couple who were renting their car interjected and said "I call BS on what you are saying." This is a very crooked company. I would highly encourage you to go elsewhere and spare yourself the stress an headache. PS, I called the head office and they said "too bad." I reserved a 16-ft moving truck 1-2 weeks in advance. They sent me a reminder email several days before the reservation. I showed up, got the keys, they let me return the truck after hours with no late fee, and my receipt was as I expected (very affordable). No surprises, no disappointments. The guy working there was friendly and helpful and the truck was in great condition and even had several bungee cables to tie down my furniture. I was skeptical to get a truck from this place since there are so many awful reviews, but the location was the most convenient for my move to the other side of Seattle. I was pleased to find everything ran so smoothly, and I have no complaints. I'll definitely come back to this spot if I ever need to rent a big truck, and I'd recommend it to other too! read more

I'm reading through all the reviews going back FOUR YEARS and I'm seriously asking myself if I didn't already write a review for this garbage dump that passes off for a company. Do you want to know how I can assure you definitively that everyone at this company is a liar and a scammer? There are two conveniently placed printed pages, ENCASED IN A PLASTIC STAND, that give a breakdown of all the nonsense policies about insurance coverage, no guarantee reservations, and late charges. I've never seen such conveniently placed, customer averse policies displayed anywhere I've ever done business with. 1. 150 dollars late charge. PER HOUR. Not even kidding. 2. Had to call my insurance company despite me telling them they were closed at the moment to waive their BS insurance. Surprise: they were closed. 3. They didn't have my truck. In fact, the guy was going to allegedly give me someone else's truck. I got a call as I was pulling up in the parking lot to tell me that I had to hurry or my reservation would be cancelled. Why do I say allegedly? Read all the other reviews with the same "excuse" that "corporate hasn't sent us enough trucks". This has been going on for YEARS. You really think Corporate would let something like that eat on their bottom line for years? 4. Oh, you thought the reservation meant you would have a truck? Nope, we only have the bigger, more expensive one. Rude guy, definitely comes off as the type that thinks he's better than everyone because he's probably scammed dozens upon dozens of people who don't have a choice but to rent from here. It was oddly convenient that just as I walked in, the guy at the counter was leaving a message stating that "you didn't return the truck last night and I need it for my next customer". You know, the same truck that I had reserved. I also happened to be the first customer who was going to have his reservation cancelled but instead I was being done the "favor" of being given someone else's truck. Suffice to say, I grabbed all my things, walked off, and went to U-Haul just a mile away and got a truck, no reservation needed. There's already a hold on my card for 150 dollars. Let's see how long before I have to escalate the matter further. Do yourself a favor and read all these reviews: don't enable a garbage business model of high pressure sales and lies tactics to continue existing by supporting this location. read more

Worst experience ever! Booked a truck in advance and got a call 3 days prior to move they will not have a truck for me, because they took more reservations than they have trucks. They suggested to look elsewhere for availability. I've had all logistics and people arranged already. They mentioned they dont guarantee reservation, just the rate... ridiculous..., I dont need a rate, I need a truck. U-Haul saved the day. Will never come back to Budget Trucks. read more

I'd do just about anything to not deal with uhaul again. These guys are alright, chronically understaffed, always super slow, but they do have (two) truck(s) with lift gates available, and unlike some places, they've never rented me a truck that was on its last legs. Those mileage charges can really add up though. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This company is absolutely horrible. We booked a truck on their website and the morning of we get a call (as we are driving to the site to pick up the truck) that there are no trucks available. We even called multiple other locations and none of them had any trucks. None of the locations were helpful and just shrugged off the fact that their website falsely allowed customers to book trucks and waste their time as nothing significant. Then a couple days later we get a notification that we were charged anyways. When calling the company they refused to refund us the money and only after arguing with them did they finally agree to refund us. This company is an absolute fraud, horrible customer service and have extreme lack of consideration for other people's time and money. I will never be using their company again. I have never written a yelp review before but this experience was so bad that I had to. read more
