I'm writing about the car we upgraded to @ the Seattle Budget lot; a Toyota 4x4 from a small compact, which Agent John at desk suggested for our business/ personal trip. However, after leaving the lot we began to notice it was full of personal receipts, snacks, masks and a permeating, sharp sour odor. Although it had the seal of approval of the previous cleaner on the dash, ( which I gave to the second cleaner when returned), she took the original, hand-signed authorization( that he had completed his job) to her office, never to return. We were unable to settle this situation at the lot, but have pictures, including the personal papers. We left the snacks and masks as is, but I have pics if you would like to see them. Honestly, we had to wipe everything down, but couldn't eradicate the smell! I'm glad that we all had our vaccinations because, this is a Pandemic!!!!! I have spent much more time on this than it should have taken to resolve this. The other portal would not accept information and bounced me 4 times, and agents have rerouted me 5 times. I rented a car through expedia for the month of may and picked up at this location. I got a car with only 400 miles on it and Bill and the team at the office were extremely accommodating and friendly throughout: 1) They worked with me to extend my rental for a few days at a much cheaper rate than expedia 2) They let me return my car a few hours past the return time 3) They tolerated my calls and were helpful when I thought I might've locked they keys inside on the way to return Highly recommend this location! read more

I rented a car from the Denver airport Budget. I had it for only 2 days and only drove it from the airport to where I was staying in Boulder and back. I turned in the car with no damage but received a letter in the mail a month later saying a caused over $800 worth of damage. I did not take any photos when I turned in the car because I could see it was in the exact same condition as when I first got in it. I did not realize I should have taken photos to protect myself from the company and it's employees. I did not cause the damage and customer service was extremely unhelpful and not understanding or willing to cooperate with me. I do not recommend Budget to anyone. read more

Hi, I rented a car from the Budget in Seattle on 4th Ave. This place sucks, the office is a pain to get into, you have to call a number and no one answers. The guy working there has his kid come down to let you in or collect the keys. They tried to upgrade me to take their insurance by asking which one I wanted and it took me a minute to realize that I didn't want or need any of their insurance options. The cars are never full of gas and don't keep track of how much is in there. Both times I rented from there the tank was about half full, I just accidentally returned it with more gas than when I rented it - my bad. The car had some door dings, that were not identified on the paper work, so I took pictures when I rented it in their parking lot for proof so I wouldn't get charged. Now, I just got a cleaning fee for $125 for excess dirt. I looked at the pictures and there was dirt on the floor but not anything above normal. I think that $125 for a little extra vacuuming is egregious. I will never rent from them again. read more

Made my reservation online and received confirmation for a car to be available July 4 at 9 AM at this location. On July 3, I get a text message from Budget reminding me of my reservation and offering some additional services. After walking 5 blocks to retrieve the car, we find out to our dismay that this location is closed! No warning, no call, no communication whatsoever! A handwritten sign was posted on the door! We just found ourselves stranded...we were on or way to Bainbridge Island for July 4 with no way to get there! So, I call Customer Service (obviously not based in the US) and I am told that my best bet is to get the car at the SeaTac airport....30 minutes away! You'll get a better rate, I am told, as if that will make this major inconvenience go away! By the time we pay to get to the airport, it would have cost more...and we would have lost plenty of time! Fortunately for us, Enterprise on 3rd Ave was open, had lots of cars and had very courteous employees working on their holiday! So, we called an Uber and we were there in less than 10 minutes and in a nice new SUV in no time. Shame on you Budget. You have just lost a customer for life! Well... This was a surprisingly effortless experience. I rented my car through Expedia at a location within walking distance of my friend's Seattle apartment, and when I arrived there was one other person in front of me. The guy who checked us in was very friendly, dare I say... cheerful? Writing a negative review about car rental services is pretty much the norm. Because, let's face it... they suck. The wait times tend to be terrible, the workers grumpy, and the overall experience is stressful, annoying, or downright creepy. I'm not sure if my experience was exceptional, or if that is the norm for this location. All I can say was that it was literally the easiest experience I've ever had when checking out a rental car. Check-in was a breeze, and because I didn't end up needing the car that day, I was able to keep it overnight in the lot. Anyone who parks a car in Seattle will know that this was an awesome offer, since parking is consistently $10, and that would have meant I was likely to pay $20 since we weren't planning on leaving until mid-afternoon the next day. When I came by to pick the car up the next day, it was once again an effortless experience. No wait times, keys in my hand within 5-10 minutes. The car itself was what I ordered--just a simple, basic small hatchback vehicle, so no issues with getting the wrong car. I must admit, I was a bit nervous the car would be rented out to someone else since I left it there overnight, but thankfully it wasn't. The same gentleman who checked us in the previous day was there, and he remembered us, so I'm sure that helped with check-in. And when we returned the car in the same condition it was previously, with a full tank of gas and receipt, there were once again no issues with that process. I'm that paranoid person that takes pictures before car rentals just in case, and thankfully I didn't have to issues with that. THE VERDICT: Overall, it was a solid experience. No complaints about anything, from the check-in process to returning the car. Not only that, but I feel like the worker went above by letting us leave the car there overnight and not charging us to do so when lots all over the city charge $10+. I was tempted to rate this at 4 stars, but it was honestly the best experience I've ever had with a car rental service, and because of that, if I need a car rental again I will definitely be looking to them. read more

Always friendly staff and willing to accommodate. Convenient location for neighborhood residents needing a car for a day or more. Much cheaper than renting from SeaTac airport where total taxes are over 43% [forty-three] of the base rental price. Just remember to not drive on adjacent 3rd Ave during the weekdays as for buses only. Cars sometimes could be better cleaned but always good enough for me to run errands with. Our car was great, clean , and in good repair, but way more expensive than I had anticipated! I had looked at the price per day and thought it to be the price for our 3 day trip, total. My advice: scour the web for budget-rent-a-car coupon codes!!! Just type that into the search engine. And p.s. Don't ask to use the bathroom!! These guys are nice, however, and running a parking garage on the side. I had no complaints, aside from my request for additional discounts being turned down after I was genuinely taken aback by the price ($200++ for 3 days!) Rented a car here, dropped it off in Portland five hours later. Two months after get a $75.00 charge on my credit card from Budget Car Rental with no explanation. Called customer service, who sent me to billing, who sent me to sales (?), who sent me to claims, who close at 2PM PDT so they hung up on me while I was on hold. The $75.00 is apparently a cleaning fee. Car was perfectly clean, it was a sunny day, and I only had a laptop bag with me. A rude piece of work in billing snidely told me they'll email me photos in 3-5 business days. Don't give them your credit card details unless you have money and dignity to waste on them. read more

I rented the car through Costco's travel discount program. I was impressed that even the day before I could make modifications to my rental on the budget rental site without any fees. I was staying at a hotel in First Hill and called them in the morning to see if there was anyway they could pick me up so I didn't have to walk or take a cab with all of my luggage. The man on the phone was very kind and said no problem just call when you are ready and we will be there in 10 or 15 minutes. My wife and I rented a car at SEATAC on November 13, 2019. We returned the car on November 20, 2019. I accidentally left MY keys attached to the rental car keys. I had to file a lost report to get any action. For a solid week I got denials that the keys had been found or UNRETURNED voice and emails. I finally called customer service and flamed on them that my keys HAD to have been turned in. I called back to SEATAC on day 7 and started in on them. Within 5 minutes they found my keys. It cost me $35 to have them Fedexed. I got back my truck key and Prius FOB but my HOUSE and CAMPER keys were not on my lanyard (I had keys on both ends of a lanyard). I called two days earlier and they confirmed they were open on labor day. Also, when I called headquarters, they confirmed they should be open. I've rented here about a handful of times and the employees have always been cordial and professional. However, that's not enough to keep customers coming back. I rented a car back in February 2015 and I returned the car without any issues. I received a letter in the mail from their corporate office during the holidays (Dec ) stating that while doing their "year-end review they found damage on the car I rented and would take it upon themselves to charge my account $185. And gave me a week to respond before doing so. Somehow they narrowed it down to me? Weird. Unfortunately for me,I didn't check my mail for about a week since I was out of town. This explained an unusual charge on my account that I didn't recognize, as well! I made several attempts to reach someone who knew something to resolve this but the person I got couldn't resolve it. As it stands this hasn't been cleared up. Because I realize what an airhead I am. I thought what would a non-airhead do? Ah yes! I sat down with a cup of coffee, magnifying glass and really, really, really read the very, very small print and found a little clause! In its smallness, it states right there in the rental contract that they are sneaky MFs, oops sorry! and that they "keep your credit card number on file and will charge your account if need be at any time after the actual rental is over". So, that makes me an idiot Why? you may ask? Your no idiot! Well, I am because the trusting side of me thought the cc info is wiped out after the final billing. Apparently this business practice is acceptable for Budget Rental Car company. I don't get how this can be legal. I rented a car at Hailey Idaho airport. The car wasn't what I expected. The service was worse. The woman who acted like she was the boss of everybody was very rude. There were two women behind the desk. While I was waiting, they starting complaining about the customer who had just left. The rude woman who handled my rental had me wait while she helped others. She wouldn't listen to my explanation on the loss of the key. She accused me of not following directions. She was wrong because I did. The manager, Tag, was very nice. I can't say enough nice things about him. But I don't plan on ever renting from them again. They didn't ruin my trip though. read more

I went through the USAA web site to rent a car and Budget offered the best deal on a full size car. After I had reserved the car and paid up front, I noticed a day or 2 later that my RapidRez# and my USAA BCD# were not on the receipt. I e-mailed there customer service and got a prompt response. They added the information and gave me almost 10% of my rental back in refund. I was not expecting the refund, I just wanted to pick up my car with the USAA perks and take advantage of Rapid Pick-up. Very happy with their customer service and since I have rented from them before a long time ago, I don't expect any hiccups on my vacation next week. read more

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco (great hotel!), so this was a quick walk to pick up our vehicle. We took off, excited to begin the rest of our trip in Canada and Glacier NP, but as we were driving up I-5, we noticed the vehicle was FILTHY inside. There was something sticky on the back of my seat, and the dashboard/entire inside was obviously not touched at all. Wish we had seen this in the dark garage when we picked it up. No time to turn around and head back into the city (rush hour going the opposite direction). We had to stop at a coffee shop in Bellingham and ask them for some damp paper towels to try to get rid of the worst of it. GROSS. Also, now that we're back home, we just received an email stating we owed $17.75 for a $3 toll from a bridge in Canada. NOBODY EVER EXPLAINED THE TOLL FEE system to us! Budget charges $2.95/day (up to a max of $14.75) . So our $3 toll and eToll "convenience fee" charge ended up being almost $18!! Budget, this is something that should be explained to every single driver, and your contract should have a place to initial saying you understand that policy! We were looking and looking for where to pay the bridge toll and never saw a cash lane option. Thankfully, the eToll people were kind enough to credit some of that charge, but they are a separate company from Budget. So beware renters, if you use their toll system, that will add another $15 to your rental. Overall, I'd say the location is convenient, as is their policy to let you park the vehicle in their garage while you're staying in Seattle, but take your vehicle out in the daylight and add in an extra 20 minutes or so in case it's not clean so they can clean it up. And if you're in an unfamiliar country and are not sure where to pay your toll, just pull over at any toll booth you see, before it's too late. read more

Very conveniently walkable, easy to get on and off I-5, and they even offered us the ability to park our rental for free at the garage the night we weren't using it. Considering that's anywhere from a $20-40 savings, depending on your hotel or your craftiness in finding a cheap garage, this was a huge plus. read more

We had a reservation today for a moving truck and they suddenly told us that they didn't have one for us to use. It will take days to refund the $250+ dollars (they charge a $150 "refundable" deposit when you make a reservation. They didn't even offer to comp us for the major inconvenience. The two gentlemen in the early morning started our near perfect mini vacation with one of them giving me and my wife a ride to the train station to the late morning crew that helped us with a minor mechanical problem all free of charge and they would not take any tips? Good site for a Budget rental downtown They open at 9 AM, which wasn't convenient, but the staff were a hoot, especially the old Greek guy who said he'd worked there for 60 years. We turned the car in with a couple of hours to spare and were offered a ride over to Pike Street Market, which we graciously accepted. This was a no-hassle, bend over backwards to help me out kinda place. I made same day reservations online but messed up on the pickup time. I called and the guy happily changed my time. Then I returned the car but couldn't find my wallet to fill it up with gas, so they made some adjustments on my account and I had to pay a minimal fee. Watch out for the upsell!! Deceptive business practices!! We reserved a car through Kayak. At pick up at the Seattle airport, the agent offered a different car. Understanding that sometimes the car reserved is not available, I told the agent specifically that I'd be fine with a different car, for the same price, but we didn't need a different car/upgrade. The agent nodded, then pushed us through multiple pages of contract on a monitor to sign. Apparently the car was processed as an upgrade with an additional fee and this was in small print on the contract, though not added into the total displayed. To me this is deceptive business practices. I don't expect an agent to lie or be deceptive in response to an explicit customer direction & have to read many pages of fine print at a monitor to "catch" them. Nor to I think any respectable company should expect or condone this of their representatives. I did look at the total, which was still in line with my reservation (within a few dollars). The additional fee (amounting to a whopping 50% of the original reservation price) was in a different area, identified by codes and charged to my account after the fact. NEVER AGAIN. In my industry the employee would be terminated and the company would be taken to court for that and fined for deceptive business practices! read more

I work for a roadside service and had a customer that had rented from them and less than an hour after picking their car up they had a flat tire and had to have it patched. Budget rent a car at seatac airport was a horrible experience. I booked my reservation on line at priceline. 2 day rental full size car 56.00 total. Arrived at the airport exhausted after traveling, get to the front desk the gentleman that was helping us obvious was having bad day and it showed, not professional at all. But whatever everyone has an off day. returned the car 2 days later and went home. didn't realize until i got home that there was $100.00 in fees making my total $156.00. that sucked! called budget to see what happened, all they said was you signed the document. When arriving at budget, I had just gotten off the worst flight ever due to several delays. The gentleman who helped me was very sympathetic and kind. Although my rental was fully paid for in advance with frequent flyer miles I was informed they still needed a credit card on file in case something was to happen to the car while in my possession. Later I discovered that I was charged for the full amount of the rental. Thinking it was an honest mistake I called and spoke to a customer service representative who rudely informed me there was nothing she could do and I'm am stuck with paying double. It was by far the worst customer service I have ever received. I am disputing the charge with my bank but due to the principal of paying twice and receiving such awful service with no concern or help from budget I would highly advise to never use this company. read more

Great Experience. Called first and talked to Jerry. He told us we could park the car with them at night for free. We did and saved the 35.00 per night the hotel was charging for overnight parking. They gave us directions to get places and the car was clean and an upgrade from the one we ordered online. The gentlemen that helped us at pickup and at drop off were great. We could not have been more pleased. Customer service was 5 star. We will rent from them again when in Seattle. read more

Very bizarre encounter. My mother had a spinal fracture, and we were flown in by jet...and therefore had no way home. She ended up in a back brace, and certainly didn't want to ride a bus 5 hours home. I called several rental agencies, and got the run-around. Finally this office of Budget said they had a four wheel drive available, but it was nearly $500 to rent. I was reluctant, but since we were stranded, I agreed. Then he told me it was a pick up. No way mom was going to be able to climb up into a pick up. So I said no. Then suddenly he had another car for $300, but it wasn't 4 wheel drive (something I never even asked for!). I said ok, and he came and picked me up at the hospital, taking me to their office. He was nice enough, but after typing in my DL number, asking my me SSN, and putting in my Visa debit card number, he said I my card was flagged under Equifax and no one in town would rent me a car or accept a debit card (even though he took my debit card and typed in all the information--not rejecting it out of had as you would expect if they don't take them). He said I must have a bad credit rating, and that he himself could not rent a car. He said I'd have to call a relative to drive to Seattle to get me, and took me back to the hospital. I was completely baffled, as my credit score is around 800 and the debit account had nearly 10 grand in it, and none of my credit monitoring services had recently notified me of any problems. I called the debit card bank (chase) and when I finally got a human on the line, they said the card was fine, there were no flagged attempted purchases, and it wasn't rejected by them--she said if it was rejected, it was rejected by the company I was presenting it to (Budget). Ok, I said. I finally had to reserve a car over the net at Enterprise, and after first being told by them that they had no cars, I asked them what the confirmation numbers were for if there was no car. He said if I had a number, they had a car for me. I asked him if they accepted Visa Debit cards because I already had it rejected by another company. He said they certainly do accept them. All they asked was for my employer's name and two emergency contact numbers (in addition to my DL and debit card). Boom. Done. Got my car and got my mother home. If I had listened to the Budget guy, I may have been forced to call my half-blind 70 year old father who would have ended up driving in the snow and rain for 5 hours to get to us. Also, Enterprise gave me a 74 dollar refund for returning the vehicle a few hours early--which made me completely forget about the run around they gave me the first two times I called them. read more

I arrived at SEATAC no knowing my car reservation with FOX, was for the next day. I went to the FOX operation and was very upset with the way they handled my problem. At first was told no car was avialable then after one call they found one (of course larger) at a cost of $175 more. I was upset and was told to "be quiet and listen" after which he explained again the same story. I understood the story but not happy with the ending. It didn't feel right. They showed no feelings but greed to make a better deal for themselves. I left them and went to BUDGET. They showed consideration for my problem and went to work fo find me the best deal available. The results was a (SUV) for less then the cost that I was given by FOX. This attendent showed she understood customer service and made me feel she appreciated and satisfied with my rental. I left there feeling much better and am very greatful for her help. read more
