First time here. The ordering and pick up process was smooth, and the staff were friendly. The vegan cheesesteak was so delish!! For $8.00, you get a really generous portion. I just wish it came with a bit more sauce. Will still be back!

For those who want a quick review: Woah, all I will say to this is my jaw dropped. Got the Buffalo sub but in a wrap with extra chicken. I will say that it was fantastic If this is what vegans eat every day then I can see the appeal. For something more in depth: For context I am one that is on no particular diet, I'm not vegan, nor am I on a carnivorous diet. All I wanted today was a sandwich or something of the like. So I scoured yelp for a sandwich, and I found buds. I looked on their website and found that everything is vegan, which i usually am quite skeptical of. But my vegan coworker told me that he loves this place, and that even his non vegan friends raved about the buffalo sub. So i decided to place an online order, making my sub into a wrap with extra chicken($10.12 after tax, $1.50 of that being the extra "meat"). So I gandered on over from state street and walked up to the window to pickup my order, got my food and started walking back. I didn't sit down but they do have shaded seating outside. I opened up my food and saw it was pretty decently sized, and started taking my first skeptical bite. Let me tell you that this was fantastic, the buffalo sauce had just enough kick, the food was warm and the texture of the cabbage and tomato 'wrapped' up a delicious bite(pun intended). I was flabbergasted, this was unlike what I had expected. The food was on point and it kept me satisfied the whole walk back to work. I will say that I will be back, and will probably bring more with me because this place is fan freaking tastic. Rating: 5/5 stars

Buds is located in Central City and offers vegan sandwiches. When I usually think about small portions, but that is not the case with Buds. This is a fat hoagie. Wrapped in aluminum foil, making you feel like you overate. The service was friendly and relatively quick. There's an outdoor seating area along with water dispenser right by the pickup counter. The sandwiches were fat and comforting. I loved the sprouts in my veggie sandwich. But loved the pesto sandwich my wife ordered. We were just in town briefly as we had to leave for the airport. SLC is definitely vegan friendly with great places like this

Please do your self a favor and try the horchata cold brew. The pesto has always been my go to. Such great tasting subs. A vegan staple.

Bud's is a SLC vegan fixture. It is a sandwich stand with limited outdoor seating on the curb in the sun. The food is good but Bud's falls flat on service. We had the Italian sub and the philly cheesesteak. The bread is fresh and so are the ingredients. But both would have been improved with mustard for the italian and ketchup for the philly. Bud's neither stocks nor distributes condiments of any kind. Bud's says "no ketchup for you". Bud's does not accept legal tender of any denomination, only electronic. Bud's will not do special orders. Bud's wants you to order online, pick up your food, then clear the F out directly. Bud's is a sandwich stand, not a restaurant. Manage your expectations. No recommendation decide for yourself.

I got a sandwich here this afternoon that I can't stop thinking about. I truly may go get it again tomorrow. I was sad to see that Buds changed out their menu a little bit ago and got rid of my go-to, their bahn mi, but was excited to get to try some other options on their menu. I'm a creature of habit and when I find one thing on a menu, it's often hard for me to stray away from it and try new things. Today I got "The Veggie" which comes with garlic mayo, sprouts, sliced provolone, cucumber, tomato, shredded lettuce, red wine vinaigrette on a toasted sourdough hoagie. It's a simple sandwich, but it packed so much deliciousness and freshness and flavor. It completely hit the spot today when I realized I hadn't had lunch yet and it was 3pm. The bread was perfectly equal parts crunchy (watch your mouth, it did cut up my mouth a little bit) and soft on the inside. The veggies were fresh and crunchy, the flavor and seasonings and mayo combined to make a deliciously fresh and tasty sandwich. Everything here is vegan and it's a walk up window teeny tiny little shop. You can order online or walk up to the window. I ordered at the window and my sandwich was ready in a matter of minutes. I found my new go-to even though I *should* try other things on their menu. Their pesto sub looks delicious, and they even have veggie cheesesteak, Italian cold cut, and BBQ sandwich with jackfruit - all 100% plant based.

Honestly my favorite vegan spot I've ever tried. All the workers got super good energy & the food is always fresh. I've never had a bad experience here & come here weekly. Kind of wish they were open later during the week or at least on weekends. But overall such a good place.

Which was made up of perfectly fried pork topped with Dukes mayo (my fav), ranch-kraut (my new fav), and dill. At only $3 it was a perfect side for winter. CONS: - Pricey. I think at this price point if it added a bag of chips or some time of fruit or a small little side or maybe a can of soda included it would be a perfect meal and a very reasonable price point. The owner was kind and helped me pick between the two sandwiches I was being indecisive about - the Oh Schnitzel and the Hot Chopped Cheese. He asked if I could handle spicy and I said yes. I let him choose a sandwich for me between the two and he chose the Hot Chopped Cheese and said he thinks I'd enjoy it. He described it as a sandwich with chopped-up cheeseburger fillings inside, and they use a lamb and beef patty instead of just beef. Right, he was. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich and the meat was spiced and slightly spicy, but nothing I couldn't handle. The sandwich was flavorful, and I'm impressed that the bread wasn't too thick because sometimes places serve sandwiches with way too much bread-to-filling ratio. The bread was also a nice texture, I'm glad it wasn't too toasty or crunchy like some sandwiches can get that rub the roof of my mouth raw. I felt like I had a well-balanced meal out of the Chopped Cheese. Flavor-packed meat, cheese, veggies, bread - that's all you need. The food was delicious, and I don't doubt that the rest of the items on the menu taste great, but the prices feel high, yes, even in this economy. I say this because I was able to finish this sandwich and still felt I had room to eat some more, perhaps a little snack. I almost always cannot comfortably finish my food in one sitting when dining out, so that was a sign to me that this wasn't all that much food, and I could tell from the get-go because the sandwich did look small.

I went with the mozzarella-filled risotto ball with marinara and a mozzarella tomato salad. Yes, it was a very mozzarella-heavy lunch choice and I stand by it. Also grabbed a fro-sè and kept it simple with a San Pellegrino. My other half definitely won the "better lunch" competition with egg salad sandwich, roasted brussels sprouts, and the pasta salad combo was ridiculously good. Parking was easier than expected too. There's a side parking lot we totally missed at first, plus a lot of nearby street parking. Definitely one of those places I'd go back to on another sunny day just to sit outside, snack, and slowly sip a fro-sè.

However, both my boys struggled with their hot chicken. My youngest couldn't finish his meal but my oldest soldiered on and finish but he was hurting the next 24hrs. The fries were the lowlight of the meal...minimal flavor and not too soft in the middle. I basically used mine as a heat sink in my mouth. The staff was amazing as we kept needing refills on drinks and water, and they walked it out to us on a tray several times.
