I live this place! The first time I went I only purchased clothes, but today I went for the second time and decided to take a a few things that had been sitting in my closet to see if they would buy/trade for them. Well they took two pairs of jeans and two tops, I chose to take the store credit and left with three shirts and a skirt! The hunt here is part of the fun, you truly never know what you'll find.They have everything from Chloe to forever 21. I did find a hundred and one things at Buffalo Exchange that I WANTED, but when it comes down to whether I could afford them, the story changes. All of their clothes are extremely trendy, but $11 for a mens tie-dye t-shirt? Really? On the other hand, some of their other clothes were well priced and I waled away with a shirt and skirt for $5 each. I was impressed with their organization though and if I hadn't been running low on cash, I may have been a little more satisfied. read more

I stumbled upon this store earlier today and I absolutely loved it. I purchased a cute mesh top with elephants on it for 8 bucks & these awesome gold frame sunglasses. I am absolutely baffled by this place. The 1st time I looked through all the racks, I was repulsed by clothing that was smelly, stained, ripped, missing buttons, etc... So I thought to myself, "My old clothes are definitely way cuter than everything in this store!" On my 1st sell, I sold 50% of & walked out of there w/ $100+. Encouraged, I did some major wardrobe renovation over the next 6 mo & brought in more than I had the 1st time. I left still burdened w/ clothes & a measly $12. I ended up just giving it all away. "This must be a mistake," I thought, "I was just unlucky w/ the buyer." Wanting to reverse my luck, I waited another 6 mo & tried again w/ a different set of clothes. This time, I made with a mere $6, which was not even worth my drive, clothing haul, or waiting in line, except for the fact that I got to give the $6 to a cute little kid selling candy for his sports team jerseys outside. So what is going on w/ Buffalo Exchange? Are they bursting at the seams with ugly clothes they cannot sell? Are the buyers bad? For my last sell, the buyer barely glanced at my things before throwing them back in the "no" sack. With the same quality of clothes, I have made around $300 at clothes horse anonymous, yet this gross place turns its nose up at me. I sold a MK denim trench and they gave me 12.00 (had to take it because I lost my job.) and a week later I saw it selling for $85. Liars! Will never go again! NOT 35 percent! It's truly a shame that the color of a person's skin still influences how they are treated. I've lived through quite a bit of racist treatment being raised in the 70 ' s but to see it so prevalent in youth is really disheartening. There is a manager there with the initials of KW that is apparently behind the times in the treatment of Black employees and patrons. With the racial climate being at an all time high, given tensions from Ferguson, KW should be more reserved in how they talk to and overtly observed Black people who patronize and work for this business. We know when we're being watched. We sense different verbal tones when we're spoken to. For the sake of that business, work on that. Don't think it goes unnoticed. Whoever thought you'd make an good manager needs to rethink the value of a customer and employee. read more

I'm always taken back when I visit BE... it's like I need to visit once a year to remind myself of why it's been a year since I've been there. Like others, why pay $15 for a used Target shirt when I could spend $9.97 on a brand-new Target shirt? Surprisingly, I've always found the sales associates on the snooty side, which makes no sense to me. Today, I went in search for tacky holiday sweaters - did they have some? Yes! (The price tage even had it categorized as "tacky holiday") but when I noticed a sign that said $5 off when you donate a coat, I figured I'll pick up my items that afternoon when I can bring in my coat. I was told "that wouldn't work b/c it'd be $5 off your next purchase and she wasn't sure if there was a minimum of $20." Really?? Why make it that hard on your customers who are trying to do a good deed! A lot of the shoes look worn but you can get a good deal on real cowboy boots and the store is well-organized. But even well-organized, I generally leave with with empty arms. And oh yeah, parking is a pain. read more

While I've had good experiences with the Houston store, I've never been to the Dallas location before. Before driving over to the store, I specifically called to see if they were currently accepting what I wanted to sell today, and was told yes. Once I got there (and waited 30 minutes while the girl in front of me went through two trash bags full of clothes and 2 other employees stood behind the counter), I was told they aren't accepting these right now, which was directly contradictory to what I'd been told an hour earlier when I called. Don't bother to bring any items to sell here... Unless you own low quality garbage! Today, I had very high end Coach purses, Coach shoes, and a Kate Spade IPAD protector. All were rejected. The reasons, from a 14 year old looking girl, were borderline B.S. For the purses, "we only take cross body purses". Gee that's funny, there is no indication in the store stating this. The shoes were brand new, barely worn wedge heel, open toe shoes. I was told "we are not accepting open toe shoes at this time, as we are gearing up for fall". Really??? #1. this is the great state of Texas, where it is warm pretty much ALL YEAR ROUND and #2, It's JULY 12th!!!! Again, no sign indicating "only accepting fall shoes". The Kate Spade IPAD protector was in pristine shape but I was told they are a "hard sell". Uh, not this one. Congratulations Buffalo Exchange, you just lost a person who is likely would spend more money than your average customer and you got a poor review. Here's a tip: Raise your standards and hire some help that actually knows about designer items. By the way.... get some more parking spaces!! I came from LA and only shopped at Wasteland, having been a previous employee and enjoyed the more selective picks...BUT I must say that this Buffalo Exchange in Dallas is IMPRESSIVE. They are trained to know what $ells at re-sale. Because old clothes you just don't want because they're old and ugly, no one else wants either. They DO know what people will buy and if it won't sell there why would they give you money for it? They're a store.... not a charity fund for young people to expect them to dish over cash for old, out-of-style, out of season clothing. I hear people say bad things and it's not a personal issue when they buy. The buyers don't pick outfits they would wear or because it's their style and they don't refuse to buy from you because they're rude....if they don't buy it......... it's because they can't sell it...and selling it is what makes Buffalo Exchange stay alive as a business! And this is why I love to shop here! They may pick one thing from you, everything....or nothing. You will learn, as I do, what they need and they can communicate it to you if you ask. The more selective they are and pricing conscious with buying from us......the BETTER the selection and prices are for us when we shop there! 4 stars because I lived in Austin for five years and their location seems to be cheaper..but man do I always find way too much amazing stuff in all of the locations. I've been to several different Buffalo Exchange's in several states, and this one is pretty weak. I lived super close until recently, so I would stop in there a few times a month, but really, there's a whole lot of non brand named stuff in there that you could find anywhere, and some of it is in pretty bad shape, which makes me wonder how and why the staff selects these items because they are SUPER picky about what they will take. I have had moderate success selling items; I don't know why they bother calling it vintage consignment because they won't take anything that's ACTUALLY vintage. The staff isn't very friendly either. They could do really stand to improve their customer service, and at least pretend to be interested in your items instead of patronizingly telling you that they only take things that are brand named and in current style, or not even looking at them at all. From a 26 year old working professional guys stand point, the clothes they sell are a bit childish and or too hipster. I would like to see nicer brands being sold here but perhaps I am not their key demographic. As for selling clothes to them, I see the same issues with their buyers. They only want stuff with current tags regardless how good of shape your stuff is in. Also they seem to shop for this punch/skater/hipster look which I don't quite see in the Dallas area as much as when I lived in Austin. If you are selling brands like Lululemon,arcteryx,northface,Gant I.e. more expensive brands don't waste your time. They won't buy it, nor will they give a 10th of what you paid for it. Came in with my gf with said brands and some nice female brands and they bought 1 item from her.(not with the $6 bucks for the 30 minute wait) Took the same clothes to Re-brands off preston and they sold all of them for a decent amount back to her. Wow, what a disappointment! I have shopped here a few times over the years and found a couple of fun articles of clothing. There's one employee working here that leaves a wafting trail of poor hygiene among each rack she organizes. Usually I just ignore these things if the energy is positive and people are friendly. Not today! We brought 6 bags of clothes in for an exchange, nice, clean and similar if not better than what they had on their racks. They didn't accept anything that we brought in. The salesperson was rude, kept coughing into her hands, never smiled, never thanked us for coming in and overall sucked. It's too bad that we can't have a funky location (which Dallas has little of) with upbeat and friendly staff working there. I won't ever come back to this location again, not because I didn't make an exchange, but because the staff were so rude and pretentious. entering buffalo exchange; what a cute place! it looked so...vintage. very chill vibe bought my stuff in and waited a few minutes; they walked me through the process and they seemed very genuine and nice..SEEMED. maybe thats why i didnt watch my stuff like a hawk and went to browse instead.. hrm. BAD IDEA. came back to check up; the chick going through my clothes said she found NOTHING. WTF. i bought it two trash bags full and another medium sized bag full of clothes. i had three UNWORN perfect condition "grane" jeans, and a big puffy UNWORN furry hooded jacket. no i had a shit load of stuff, but those items in particular, i EXPECTEDDD to get something out of. like 3 bucks per jean, and like 5-10 for that jacket i bought for 50 bucks. i . got. Not a big thrift store fan due to the fact people most times over price used old clothing. took some clothes in to sell and they didnt want any of them which is ok because the clothes I browsed around to look at were highly overpriced donation box clothing my grandmother was wearing as a teenager and just may be better off buying brand new from somewhere you may get it cheaper in better condition. But it really just reminds me of goodwill or salvation army with higher prices for the same quality of clothing. This store is okay if your just looking to shop around. However for those of you who are looking for a place to sell the clothing you no longer want or able to wear DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! Finding a parking spot near the store is nothing short of a miracle.Seeing as how I had three trash bags full of clothing the journey from the parking lot down the street to the store was less than ideal. Especially considering I had to make it twice because I was unable to carry it all at once. Some of the clothing I had brought had general every day wear but much of the clothing was barely worn. A few had never been worn at all. Including nine pair of name brand jeans which I had bought just prior to finding out I was pregnant. As any mothers knows those pre-pregnancy jeans for most are a distant memory that we tend to hold onto in the backs of our closet. I had finally decided to let go of mine and see about getting some that I could actually fit in. I also had four pair of shoes, two of which were brand new still in the box. i used to visit this store all the time and was very pleased. there was a period of time, approx. 3 years, that all of my clothes came from buffalo exchange. after my visit yesterday i'll never go back. i took two boxes full of clothes to sell (mostly t-shirts and casual shirts in very good shape...i care for my clothes meticulously) and they took none of them, stating they were "too worn" or "promo items". after my clothes were turned away i browsed their t-shirt racks to find lots of "promo" t-shirts, and many other t-shirts that were horribly stained, worn, torn, etc. my t-shirts looked brand new compared to most of their racks. some of the staff had a real attitude with me, like i wasn't on the same level of the food chain that they were...and the rest had a very fake niceness, particularly the girl that turned all my clothes away. from now on, i'll just go to the goodwill store down the street...the clothes will be much better quality and there will be no attitude. read more

I did read quite a few reviews prior to going to the Buffalo Exchange on Greenville. It is likely just not my cup of tea. I honestly did not find anything yet that I would purchase. That being said they store restocks through its purchases. So, maybe, I will. The purchasing people clearly stated that the store was currently buying fall into winter items upon arriving at the counter. Great, that is mostly what I brought in to the store to possibly sell. I did sit in line each time, which is totally understandable and was able to watch the purchasing process before getting to my turn. The pattern, which was clear, was darker or muted colors, certain brands, cheap t-shirts & nothing too out of style seemed to be preferred. This also seemed to ring true with the selection in the store. This is also what the store purchased from me. Though, I did find it strange that the buyer did not consider my nicer sweaters, one of which was 100% cashmere. It was not one of the brands listed on the website as preferred. However, it is equal in quality. I will keep this in mind the next time I am shopping or selling clothes. No reason to come into the store if it is not mutually beneficial. My advice is to only bring in or expect to find what the store prefers. read more

A waste of time if you are trying to sell items. Wasted an hour of my time while two people that work there helped one woman, and tried on the items the woman was selling. By the time one of the associates helped me, she said to me, all of the shoes purchased from Nordstroms & Neiman's that they are not "on trend" when all of the shoes they had there were crappy. This was based on people that looked and dressed horribly. All of those shoes that I bought are currently being sold at both stores. The help was rude and I am disappointed. It is hard to take a business seriously when you have people that look like dirt are telling you your belongings are not up to snuff. And the few items I did sell, when I asked how much she ignored me. Or if an item of Lululemon was actually lulumeon. I said yes, she said to me, " i need to see the logo." I must say...I've never been a fan of Buffalo Exchange in CA (with options like Wasteland & epic flea markets), but the one here in Dallas is a hidden gem! I shopped here 3 years ago and the inventory was great. I remember scoring a buttery Derek Lam bag in pristine condition for $95! I'm still pleased with 60% of the inventory...I'm a label shopper. The only difference now is that the price points have gone up about $15 from what the designer pieces used to be priced at. To really score a good deal, you have to look at the condition of the item, what season it's from and what the original retail price was. Can you find this brand BRAND NEW at Nordstrom Rack for only $10 more? You have to weigh all these facts before purchasing. A peeley Vince or Theory sweater from 2009 is not worth $40 after the depreciation...but a Phillip Lim jacket from 2009 still holds up about 40% of its original markdown value and would be a steal at $85...which is what I found. I have noticed a lot of Billy Reid in the men's...love that! They're generally priced around $28 and that's reasonable. Think designer denim is overpriced at $40? Think again! The best part about used denim is that someone's already worn in the starch bends in fabric for you and if the denim is classic...it's timeless, no matter what season it was from. I'm very happy with the staff as well. They were friendly, helpful and initiate conversation. Still very pleased with this location and will continue shopping here. I really wanted to like Buffalo Exchange in Dallas and gave myself a try a couple of times. I sold a lot of my clothes and bags there. But I personally didn't find much I liked there so I just stored everything on my BE store credit and spent it at the Seattle location cause they have fancier stuff there. I stopped going to BE in Dallas when one time the new staff there forgot to put store credit on like 5 of the items I sold to them. They paid for like 2 of them but later I realized it did not calculate (fail on my part). They liked my clothes and bag and took everything but did not give me the amount they said they were to give me (which was not a good price but settled anyway cause I was tired of waiting). I had some really nice stuff like a vintage classic dress from MANGO that was only worn twice that cost me over $100 but they gave me only like $27 because they were not familiar with the brand (which I regret now for selling it to them). They took my Dooney & Bourke bag only to realize once I got in my car that they never gave me credit for it. I was so disappointed that I stopped going there because most of the time I go there, I feel like I've been ripped off or disappointed by how they handled the items I sold.
