They are sitting in my closet as I type: violet ultra-suede and patent leather peep-toe pumps with four-inch stiletto heels. Perhaps it will lend context to this description to say they stand out from the crowd of my other shoes (black and brown, some metallic, little flair) like the Garfield ballon from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade would stand out in a union picket line. They are just not me. But I *want* them to be. And that, my friends, is what I personally love about Buffalo Exchange. They have almost never, with notable exception, purchased any of the clothes that I've brought in for sale. This tells me that I'm maybe not as cool, or at least not as fashion-forward, as they might like me to be. I don't mind. Looking through the racks, hunting for treasure, is like a trip to an amusement park for a shopping junkie like yours truly. It's not about breaking even; I'll always spend more than I earn at Buffalo. DISAPPOINTED. It was my first time in and was told they were looking more for "trendy" articles. I thought it was kind of rude, because my clothes are trendy, but not their trendy look. Their trendy reminded me of gothic/punk rocker. Took in a basket of name brand, stylish clothes and they only took two articles. I looked around on the racks and noticed a lot of forever 21 and H&M. I was hoping more for stores like gap, banana republic, and actual name brand clothing, etc. Definitely will not return. I would rather donate my articles of clothing to someone in need. read more

You can find pretty decent clothes here, like Prada polos for $25 sometimes lol. But when it comes to selling know that you're going to get maximum $12 for a clothing item. I had an unused Elie Tahari shirt with tags that was originally $150, and they were willing to give $12 for it.... read more

A very ecclectic "vintage" store that really wasn't all that vintage. Some of the staff was rude, but there was one really sweet girl working the dressing room that was pretty cool. Parking SUCKS, but u can park in the neighborhood and walk up. Had little luck the past few.trips but did find CUTE dress that was what I was looking for. I've been thrifting since before it was cool and it was just a way to get clothes when you didn't have money. Buffalo Exchange is the greatest store to enter the fashion market. As a former stylist and TV style commentator I can say most of my wardrobe and a lot of my clients' wardrobes have been bought or sold at Buffalo Exchange since they opened in Dallas circa 2003. This particular location is a dumping ground for Parkies and SMU students so you are sure to find tons of designer labels and stylish vintage pieces...just be prepared to spend some time...the store is organized but there is a lot there. The Dallas and West Hollywood locations are my favorites....but there are many great locations scattered around the country. read more

Clothes buyouts are hardly a fun process, but at least the buyers were friendly as they were passing on most of my items. Note this is a BUYOUT store, NOT CONSIGNMENT. It's pretty niche and geared towards hipster/vintage clothing; if you haven't been before, go to get a feel for what they buy before you spend time getting your clothes together. I had actually prepped my clothes to bring to ShopMieux (storefront is now closed - whomp whomp - and is online only), so when that didn't work out, I decided to try my luck at Buffalo Exchange before heading to donate my clothing. I wasn't too surprised at most of which they passed, since my picks were geared towards a different store, although a few pieces with no offer prompted a dual eyebrow raise from me (you know the feeling?). But hey - whatcha gonna do? The offers for the items they did take, of course, seemed a bit low, but it seems feeling cheated is all part of the buyout experience. No need to put your items on hangers or anything; bags do just fine. They have donation bins for clothes they don't accept, and the names of the daily donation sites are written on the whiteboard above the bin. For the items they do take, they'll let you know what they plan to sell it for and how much that means for you in store credit or cash; you'll of course get more "money" in store credit than straight cash. Overall, it was a pretty average clothes buyout experience, except that it's a more niche market than most. read more

I've been to some great Buffalo stores across Texas, but this one just fails. Their selection is poor with every other shirt on the rack being a Target brand priced higher than it would be on the sales rack at the actual Target store. The workers are usually slow witted trendy girls with a faux niceness. It just feels a bit icky in there. Also, I honestly don't know how they determine their selection process when trying to sell clothes. I've taken my mother's vintage clothes in great condition there only to be rejected by some girl's forever 21 crap. And can I just say that the GIRLS TAKE FOREVER TO SORT THROUGH CLOTHES? It's not effort and care, it's just sloth behavior. Of course the store does have some gems every now and then, but I definitely suggest the Austin location or San Antonio location if you happen to go down there anytime. read more

Prices are high on a lot of things. Trying to sell? Forget it. They are so overly picky when a lot of the items they have look worn. And don't leave anything there. I sold a couple things and didn't want the measly $10 I was offered for unworn expensive designer shoes. Accidentally left them because I was rushing to work. Told one of their employees I would be back to get them, and they are gone- they donated them. Guess I should have taken the $10 at this point. They wouldn't do anything for me, like at least give me the $10. Will spend my $20ish dollar gift card and some point and never go back. read more

I used to love this BE location. I've gotten Marc Jacobs moto boots, DVF dresses, a Rag and Bone velvet blazer, etc. It used to have a cool selection of designer thrift. The last few times I've been here it's been saturated with Zara/HM/Target. Not that I'm a snob to those, but why not buy those new for almost the same price. If I feel like digging I always walk away with something, I just wish they were more selective like they used to be. read more

Like many other thrift stores in the area, the men's section just sucks. I'm sure the women's section is great (considering it's about 80% of the store) but the men's clothing is just sad. And from the small amount of clothing that exists, it's not stylish or interesting on any level. Buffalo exchange is the perfect spot for the style & money savvy locals!! The Dallas location blows Austin out of the water when it comes to current trend, seasonal, and designer goods!! Clean out your closet and make some extra cash. Just don't expect to become a millionaire from it. If you do sell you get a better percent if you choose to have the funds put on a gift card. I brought in two giant bags of clothes to try and sell. I have done this at Plato's Closet several times so I was familiar with the process. I waited for less than 10 minutes as the women dug through my 50+ items (some brand new and named brands) and she ended up saying they didn't want to take anything. This was fine, however, she handed my bags back, that I brought in with every article of clothing nicely folded, with my clothes shoved back in and falling out of the bags. Will never waste my time again after not being given the time of day. Had to go home and refold and iron/ dewrinkle every piece of clothing.... The manager did offer to carry my giant bags back to my car for me afterwards though- the only reason for the 2nd star. read more

I love shopping here. It is good for when you are on a last minute mission to find a cool shirt to wear for 5-15 dollars. Buffalo Exchange has saved my ass many a nights. Some of the clothes are brand new along with vintage. For me, I mostly come in to buy shirts. The selection for other things seems to be pretty good. The jackets are also worth a look. Of course there is the exhchange part of the store, which I hardly ever use because none of my old clothes are cool enough, or I have worn them to death. All around great shopping experience with pretty helpful(and must i forget hip) staff. read more

Buffalo exchange is great. I usually end up taking my old clothes there and getting enough money to buy one cool thing. It's a great way to clear out your closet. If you have anything from Urban Outfitters that you don't wear anymore, take it there. Even if it's not in perfect condition. I took a few Urban shirts there, one even had a tiny hole in it (which they called "distressed") and gave me $7 a piece for them. It's pretty sweet. Plus you know that whole one person's trash is another person's treasure. It's totally true. And whatever they don't buy from you they'll give to a women's shelter for you. Saves the hassle of a trip to goodwill. read more

Every single time I'm in this place, there's always a pleasant surprise. People in Dallas DEFINITELY know vintage. I absolutely love the way Buffalo Exchange is set up. It's history is also adorable. The owner had a sister-in-law from Sweden who that 'buffalo' was a very 'American' name; therefore Buffalo Exchange was born! Love that story. This is one of the only vintage shops I'll visit in Dallas. It's so cute and the people there are so friendly! It's also right down the street from Mockingbird Station and the Granada (great location.) This is usually where I trade in my winter clothes for summer and vise-versa. I came here to try and sell clothes and ended up picking up a cute top with the money from my clothes. This thrift store not only has cool things from the 70s, but clothes in style now. They would not take back a lot of my clothes because they were "out of style". Guess I have been living in the 90s too long. read more

I like this Buffalo Exchange more than others. I feel that it has a nice variety of clothes, instead of having a super hipster selection like at the Buffalo Exchange in Austin, New Orleans and Brooklyn. I got some brand new size 11 Calvin Klein flats for $28, some gently worn Tom ballet flats for $22 and a brand new pair of J. Brand jeans for $28. Those jeans usually retail for $190 new. I also got a cute Urban Outfitters sundress for $15. They have good prices and a decent selection. Check them out when you're in the Lower Greenville area. read more

Second time this year to go in and sell my quality brand named items and was paired with an inexperienced young person to evaluate my clothing. It's not worth my time as I watch them dig through Trader Joes bags of wadded up crap and buy cheap plastic jewelry while at the same time pass up on my name brand clothes just because they're unfamiliar with the label. It is a really hit or miss store, just like every other thrift store. It is more hit than anything though, even my mom likes shopping here so it really isn't just for the "hipsters". I like the staff at this location way more than I like the ATX staff, way more chill surprisingly. You cannot really go in here and look for one type of thing, keep an open mind. I've been to many Buffalo Exchanges and go out of my way to visit stores in other places when I visit, which is what lead us to this location. I was a little disappointed. The store is not big enough for the amount of stuff it has. It's really hard to go through the clothes because they are packed really tight on the racks. It's also really hard to move around. They do have a really big shoe collection, which is a plus. In the end though, I didn't end up finding anything, which is kind of a big deal for a shopaholic like myself. I'd like it better here if they invested in a larger space. read more

Since they are a second-hand store, Buffalo Exchange has inventory that changes. All. The. Time. So, if you stop in just once, you could either be delighted and amazed or disappointed and underwhelmed. I have only checked out the men's side of their offerings, so I can't speak for the women's selections (which seem noticably more plentiful). But, there are some really nice clothes in the men's side, by reputable designers and in very good condition. There are also some avant garde garb, so if you're looking for a truly unique look (hello musicians!), you should have lots of fun at Buffalo Exchange. Shop often. That's the key. This store is great. It's true that you have to park a street over in a residential neighborhood, but a little walking never killed anybody. The dressing rooms are nice and I'm happy with their plus size collection. I usually find tops and dresses here for less than $10 each and I always donate a token to charity instead of getting a bag. read more
