Umm... Buffalo Exchange moved to Westheimer next to Voodoo Donuts. I came today and noticed the store is a third of size compared to the previous location. It appeared to have more stuff on each shelf. But I don't know if they will be more choosy on buying more stuff from people. I particularly don't want to wait 45 minutes to sell my stuff. There is only one person at the selling booth and one cashier for check out. Besides, there was nothing for me to buy. I think I'll donate and shop at Out of Closet thrift store. Initially friendly upon entering, tolerable to shop at. Employees themselves are extremely sassy though. Always come off a bit entitled, not something you can train out of someone, it seems like they just attract a hiring crowd that comes off that way. When selling clothes, they snicker to each other even if you're standing right in front of them. Just truly poor outwardly personalities, they may actually be decent people but I always feel extremely uncomfortable in there. They sized down the location, and I'm guessing that could be a reason why. No one wants to shop when they feel uncomfortable. I've talked to a few friends who also have shopped here, and they agree that the employees attitudes are "sassy". I used different words, but it was unanimous I also hate to mention that the space feels very cramped now that it's a smaller store, with the amount of clothes they have out. It's not too bad, and I think it was more because of my discomfort in general as well. I entered the store the first time about 2 years ago, where my experience was even worse, but it doesn't apply anymore since it's been so long. Giving benefit of the doubt. I wasn't selling then, just shopping, but it was still a worse experience. Selling: They offer 25% cash, which is less compared to Pavement which offers 35%. Pavement also will call you when they're done, and afterwards will pack your stuff up neatly for you. Much more comfortable atmosphere that I think they should try to mimic. Overall, if you're looking to shop, it's okay, but the employees themselves are hard to be around. I'm alternative myself so I don't mean to sound closed-minded, but the atmosphere can get uncomfortable after interaction. read more

I was not happy with my experience selling at Buffalo Exchange. For one, if you sell on the weekends, the wait time is pretty long. They have you scan a QR code, put in your info, and join a waitlist to sell. Then, you can browse around the store until they text you. The issue though, is that the store isn't that big, and I had to wait like half an hour just to be called up to sell. And then I just stood there awkwardly while they looked through my items for a few minutes; I feel like they didn't need to have me up there in the first place. Pavement's system is much better--you drop off your bag at the selling counter, they call you when they are finished looking through it, and then you just have to pick it up by the end of the day. Another issue is the buying rate. If you want cash, they give you only 25% of what they will sell it for! If you want store credit, then it's 50%. The biggest issue, though, is what they actually choose to buy. I truly do not understand their rationale. While looking through the store, I saw so many cheap, ugly, and tattered clothing items. But when they looked through my items, they only took two things, even though I had a ton of high quality, trendy items in good condition. Maybe I'm biased, but I don't know, their system doesn't make sense to me. I would not recommend selling here. One good thing, though, is that the employees were really nice! I was looking forward to the new location as it looks much bigger than the previous space on Shepherd St. But stepping inside, it felt cramped, tight, and busy. I feel like the selection in clothing from Buffalo Exchange has gone down dramatically since I started shopping here and prices don't feel justified anymore. Parking lot is bigger at the westheimer location but appears just as busy as the previous location. I hope to come again and hopefully find some clothes that I like! read more

It was an okay thrift style store. The employees were kinda rude at least the one at the register. Other than that I found a pretty cool shirt. Prices were fair, not like a goodwill cheap but cheaper than new. read more

BE is usually a hit or miss, but from my experience selling at locations all over the country, I usually sell 1-2 items per visit. This was my first time selling at this Houston location. I came a little after 11am when they open, and there was already a long wait. Soon after I arrived, there was a line almost out the door! SO...if you are in a time crunch, be aware that wait times can be up to 30 minutes before you sell. Good thing is, the employees are pretty quick and know what to look for. They are on the "eclectic/edgy" side, and a lot of my "formal" items were passed over. They took a dress I got from India and a dress I got from H&M...LOL! You never know what they'll go for, but I'm always surprised at what they pick! They took a gorgeous lavendar blazer and thigh high black patent boots from the girl before me, haha! read more

You sent me a rude message recently, but other than that exchange, you've been pretty nice since I moved from Buffalo. This is a Houston Thrift Shop with New York City prices. It really did feel like being in Brooklyn and that's probably because it's in the Montrose neighborhood and definitely for people with more money. I don't find it too wildly different from a regular thrift stop, and neither did Barbie, not to the degree where it would be so much more expensive. It still has some great stuff in here if you completely forget about the prices. read more

OMG! I was stunned by my last visit here, they are selling literal trash for insane prices! I used to love Buffalo Exchange and counted on them for quality pieces at reasonable prices. I have no idea what happened but everything changed. So much of what I saw was in horrible condition. Stains, rips, wear and tear galore. Look at the pics attached, these crocs had literally no tread; worn down FLAT & they were selling them for $25! I cannot fathom what they are thinking when buying and pricing items. I will definitely never return as a shopper but now that I know they buy and sell garbage, I would bring them my Goodwill donations and I guess make some money off of my extremely used and abused items. I had in my car things I wanted to sell and or donate. I was working close to Buffalo Exchange and decided to go in to see what they would buy. I had a fine red Ann Taylor wrap and they didn't offer to buy it, nor a Ralph Lauren cardigan. They did offer to buy two Desigual purses which are in perfect shape. What they were offering wasn't worth it. They offer 25 percent of what they'll sell the items for. A customer next to me said the purses are cute and for sure they'd buy them. I offered her one of the purses and she accepted it. I was only going to get about $5 for it. But if you take store credit, you get 50 percent of what they will sell the item for. Though most things are used, they're not that cheap. I was in a resale shop in Madrid last month and there were lots of tops for 5 Euros. I purchased one. The Exchange store does have some new shoes and jewelry. I have mixed feelings about the store. Maybe I'll drop by on Earth Day and see what they have for $1. read more

At the Westheimer store -- 2 very rude employees. I went with my daughter on Saturday, 8/23/25. We were told that I wasn't allowed to go in the dressing room to give feedback on items she tried on. Odd, but I said ok politely. The female employee told me to stand in a specific place outside the dressing room which I did while scrolling on my phone and waiting for my daughter as she tried on items. Then after a few minutes, a male employee said I couldn't stand there and directed me to a spot literally 2 feet over. Then the female employee came over again after another few minutes and told me to move back to the original spot. Then the male employee came back and told me to move back to the 2 feet from there where he directed. Whiplash-haha. My daughter was embarrassed that she had to come out of the DR to show each item. Both of these employees were very rude and unfriendly. I kept silent and was completely compliant and polite but I will never return. It was one of the strangest experiences ever. I will say that 2 female employees at the front counter of the store were polite and friendly. A few blocks over on W. Gray is TJ Max and Marshall's which have more selection, new, better quality items in the same price range and some nicer and priced a bit more. But best of all, they have better dressing rooms, allow a friend to go in to give feedback, comfortable waiting areas, and helpful and friendly staff who are good representatives of their employees and don't drive customers away like this specific BE location. . read more

Definite pass if you're trying to sell clothing or accessories. They accept nearly nothing. I called ahead to make a drop off appointment which was easy enough as they had a lot of availability. One thing that was strange however, is that you must give them your drivers license number to make an appointment. At the time of the appointment, during covid, they will not let you come inside the store to drop your items off or leave your items in your own bag. Instead you have to awkwardly kneel on the sidewalk and transfer your stuff into one of their boxes. I dropped off close to 40 items, some with tags still on, and they accepted NOTHING. Seeing more value in my items than apparently they did, I elected to pick them back up instead of having them donate them. The same awkward process occurred for pick up: you're not allowed in the store and you cannot take their cardboard box that holds your items home. Definitely will not be back. read more

I went to Buffalo Exchange to sell a few clothes, shoes, and jewelry I had. They have a very particular style they are looking for. Since it is January, they were looking for rodeo clothes, vintage, and retro styles to buy. I arrived ten minutes after the store opened and there were already two three people in line before me. By 10:30, there were at least five more people waiting to get their clothes looked through. There were around 5 chairs in the front area where you can wait for someone to look through your clothes. I would recommend coming exactly when the shop opens at 10am if you are trying to sell some clothes to Buffalo Exchange. Although they did not take anything I was trying to sell, the staff were very friendly and explained what exactly they were looking for. They also want you to stay there while they are looking through your clothes. So if your trying to sell hipster clothing, this is the place to sell it. read more

This shop as an insane rule . You get only 25% of the price if you want to be paid in cash. For example a NWT luxury bag "$157" they offered me less than 17$ . It's a real steal. You can't make money in this shop because they push you to trade to get 65% better price but the purpose to sale at the shop is to make some cash. Absolutely don't recommend this shop at all for selling but if you want to buy maybe it's another story. I wanted to look around the store while they sorted through my buy. Perhaps make a trade or even buy something without a trade. The guy made us all selling sit down in chairs one by one and even had us get up from our seats and told us to sit in a different area while he moved us around. It was also inconsistent because then he didn't make newer people do that. I felt like I wasted my time and didn't have efficiency at all- I doubled my time instead of shopping while selling. Buffalo Exchange has very minimal acceptance for selling. They definitely are looking for clientele with unique, seasonal, off-the-beaten path style, which just wasn't a fit for my closet. The customer selling in front of me in line brought a wagon full of clothes and I think she only ended up getting like $30 back. They went through A LOT of clothes. I don't usually review clothing retailers, but I just had to today. What a nice group of people who work at this store! I sold clothes there today and even though I hadn't made an appointment, they squeezed me in and were so kind about it. Once I was at the buying table, I was helped by the coolest and friendliest woman who also seemed like she was training a new employee. The way she spoke to the trainee while also going through my items was so patient and kind--it was really nice to see. Yesterday was my first time going to Buffalo Exchange and I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of clothes they have. Although, employees were highly inappropriate and downright mean to my friend who was shopping there with me... I will admit that my friend was bugging them about his new phone and was being persistent in a way that annoyed a few employees there, HOWEVER, that gave them no right to talk bad about him behind his back. I was just browsing around the store and I guess the girls that were working in the back didn't know I was with him. They made mean remarks about his age and his looks and all sorts of other mean things. I understand customers can be difficult and bothersome but it's just not good business etiquette. I came here to sell after I cleaned out my closet. For background, I'm in my 30s and not the trendiest person on my best of days, so I didn't have high hopes, but I did have a tote full of new and barely-worn clothes that I have no hope of fitting into post-baby, so I figured I would take a shot. It was really easy to make an appointment to sell online. I arrived in store and was immediately greeted and checked in by a staff member. From then on, the entire process was seamless. The staff were so friendly, the young woman who sorted through my clothes was chatty, not condescending AT ALL (which never happens at these places), and efficient. All in all, they only took about 4 pieces and I was offered $18 cash, which I took instead of the higher trade-in price because the store is full of young, hip, or vintage clothes that I would look ridiculous wearing. The staff even suggested a couple of other shops that I might try for the things they wouldn't take! All in all, I was out of the store within 20 minutes. They used to be much better when the store was located on Westheimer now it's a waste of time because they barely buy anything and whatever they do buy they give you barely any profit. Is it a cool store to visit? Yes. Is the trip worth it? Not necessarily. Came here for a fun Thrift Shop event with friends before a party thinking that with $20 we could get a full outfit but this was by far the priciest second hand store I've ever been to. They do carry older, funkier, loud clothes but for what I paid for, I could have gotten more bang for my buck. The staff is friendly and they do have a variety of things but my visit here was my first and my last. My girlfriend dropped off 2 boxes of clothing this past weekend, and the staff here at Buffalo Exchange told her that they would call after they went thru and made a decision on what they would purchase, and what they wouldn't. They also informed her that once they called she would have to pick up the remainder of the items by September 13th which was Sunday. The weekend goes by and NOBODY calls. They never informed her that they'd finished with her items. She assumed that with everything going on right now that maybe they just hadn't had a chance to look thru her items. So she calls all day on the 14th - no answer. So today on September 15th she goes up to the location to see what's going on only to discover that they have GIVEN HER CLOTHES AWAY. The manager Amy didn't even TRY to accommodate her, and basically told her that the fault falls on the both of them. Very bad business. We like this place, but that's no way to handle business. The shop was very close to work and I had a lot of items I needed to get rid of. I walked in and there were several people in line waiting to get their items assessed. The shop seemed very clean and organized. Every thing was in its place and it seemed the workers were working to get all the items processed in a prompt manner. I probably waiting 20 min. and was not notified that my items were processed until I went up and asked. They did not take ANY of my items. I ended up taking them to the Salvation Army. read more

I am from Dallas so I usually go to the Buffalo exchange there. The environment here is just OK it's kind of dark gloomy... Compared to the one in Dallas that is bright merchandise really fun and isn't so thrifty looking... I really enjoyed shopping here though... Even though I wasn't able to drop off any of my clothes because of Covid and I have to have a appointment I found some really good pieces that I am excited to wear...
