This is such a great place to find unique clothing! I love that the inventory is always changing - which I like. Each time I go in there are rarely the same items. I only once traded my clothes for store credit when it first opened awhile back. I found the process easy and they took the majority of my clothes. The store credit seemed to be the way to go as I go the most money this way and got quite a lot of "new" clothes to wear with the store credit. They have an ok selection of shoes, good selection of purses, hats and scarves. They have a really good sized mens section. Prices are really great! I would rather shop here first than the thrift stores as it seems these days you are paying the same price. I had a blast in this store. Good quality clothing, shoes and accessories. Like new, gently used stuff and all the employees were super friendly and helpful. FYI, I have never bought shoes from a consignment store before...I just don't like the idea. However, I actually purchased my first pair here! Lucky brand tan colored knee-high leather boots. I checked the soles and there were virtually no scuff marks. Tried them on, they fit perfectly, looked great on, so I immediately put them on hold at the counter while I shopped around some more. Also scored a Lucky Brand brown leather fringed bag and the comfiest maroon baggy sweater. All for about $100!!! Beyond stoked. read more

I don't usually stop in here because the prices are a bit high for me but I had some spare time waiting for a friend and wanted to check out their Halloween costume stuff. They had some GREAT pieces and a lot of them were really reasonably priced! I walked out with a wedding dress (well, turned out to be a quincañera dress, but it's awesome anyway), a HUGE under-bustle and a veil all for $40. They had a lot of very cool shoes including one pair of boots in my huge size (ladies 11). I think I'll have to start checking in here more often. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Store was clean though some of the shoes were a little dusty. Overall some great finds. read more

THEY LIE! DONT SELL YOUR ITEMS HERE! They claim to give you 50% store credit or 30% cash for the price they will list the item. Well I went in and sold 2 t shirts, 2 button ups, 1 cardigan, 1 vest, 2 hats, and a pair of shoes. They took them all. All my items were brand new with tags and they offered me $11 In cash or $24 store credit... That's BS! I ended up taking the store credit. Fast forward 2 days later I came back to see the clothes I had sold them they bumped the prices up and made more money... seriously my 2 shirts were $15 each and the button up was $16 and if you take 50% of those it adds up to $23 and that's a third of the things I sold them which is A HUGE SLAP TO THE FACE. Today was my first day going in to actually do a buy back transaction. The girl who took a look at my items was really nice and made an effort to start up a genuine conversation. She reviewed my items and took the items that she wanted at fair price in my opinion. The rest of the items that they didn't take I was able to donate to a local charity for a good cause. Who ever was working and buying items really screwed up here. It was some blonde girl who appeared to be in charge and was training a new girl. Anyways I brought in 3 bags of clothes to sell and stepped outside for 3 minutes for a phone call. I came back in and supposedly they had already looked through all 3 of my bags? Yeah right...they told me they're not looking for any of the items I had. Mostly looking for band shirts at the moment... well if they had actually looked through my bags they would have found Nirvana shirts, Blondie, Pink floyd, The Cars. And more.. at that point after realizing I was lied to, I decided not to even show them the gold..I wanted to take it elsewhere where I made good money and i'm sure the store made even more. I like this place. Shopping for T-shirts is really fun, and a lot of times they are %50 off and I love it! I got a decent pair of shoes there and also the shorts I am wearing now :) All the clothes are really clean and feel very new. My girlfriend and I used to be able to actually sell clothes back to them and get good store credit. But lately it seems they will not take anything back. Maybe they just have too much stuff, I don't know. Anyways, it's a great place to get some new-ish stuff at a good price. My girlfriend complains there are too many weird 1920's style hats and stuff and like mom jeans from the 90s and I would have to agree. But I think it's what confused kids are into, so... go Buffalo Exchange for capitalizing on that market! I will be back to shop! read more

Personal connection, in my opinion, goes hand in hand with overall quality of product. People want to be noticed, and appreciated. At Buffalo Exchange, I feel just that. The staff has always gone out of their way to meet my needs, and make sure I leave happy. Not to mention, I don't leave empty handed most of the time - the clothes are awesome. Honesty and integrity both go a very long way with me. I recently sold a few articles of clothing here. I left happy with the compensation I received for my clothes. I received a call a couple days later from Taylor. She told me that $60 cash was found in a pair of jeans I sold to them, and that the money would be waiting for me at my convenience. I was absolutely blown away. Instead of pocketing the money, or anything else, Taylor and the rest of the employees working decided to contact me, and return it. I was also very impressed with their responsibility with keeping records of the clothes they buy in, and from whom they buy from. Buffalo Exchange is a place that I will continue to shop for inexpensive, great quality clothes in style. It is also an awesome place to sell the clothes I don't wear anymore. No stars. This was my first trip ever into this store AND MY LAST!!!!!!! This Ventura Buffalo Exchange place has rude staff. When selling, don't bother, i observed the staff favors the regulars, which may be friends of theirs, as they were talking and saying " hi again"." What you doing this weekend? " And me and another person in front of me did not get one thing bought! While their repeat sellers left with $120 profit each! Their clothes were worn and ugly, mine were new with tags or worn once-and not one was bought. I dont know where they get their preference for buy backs, but from my experience and observations, they buy from their friends or repeat customers/sellers. One of my favorite spots in Ventura! With a myriad of styles and choices, I never leave empty handed. The staff and management are always in the best of moods and I always have a jovial experience. Every instance when I have sold clothing with them has been an enjoyable one. Though they are unable to take every item I bring, they are willing to take the time to explain each item to me in great detail. They are a business after all, and cannot take every piece of clothing one may choose to bring. Their selection is reasonable and generous to say the least. Whenever I have a question or concern, the staff never leaves it unanswered. I find myself returning to Buffalo Exchange time and time again, each time being an enjoyed one. I do like the concept of the store and i sometimes find some really cute name brand items. However, do not shop here if you are big on customer service they have zero professionalism. On my recent visit a young lady offered to start me a fitting room. When i went back to try on clothes the girl back there was unfriendly. She grabbed the 3 items in my hands and gathered them near some other clothes (i did not chose). I pointed to the clothes i chose and said these look like mine her reply "i know your name is on them". She is handing me clothes i didn't chose and i told her again these aren't mine thoes are (pointed at the clothes i chose). Her reply "oh she fucked up". Handed me my clothes and that was all. If you are going in to sale. Beware they are quite selective. Which i don't quite get because majority of items on the rack appear to be quite worn or poor quality clothing. read more

I've been in here a few times to shop and have never particularly been impressed with their costumer service or their inventory; the female employees are extremely rude and if/when they do speak to you, it's in a fake, not genuine tone, you know, like the one Regina George uses in Mean Girls when she compliments the girl's bracelet... literally I had to force myself not to roll my eyes and tell the girl she might as well cut the bull**** because she's not fooling anyone with that fake a** smile. Anywho. The other reviews are absolutely right in saying they are snobbish and rude. Most of the merchandise is overpriced, not all, but most, and it is in questionable condition. For example, I bought a pair of Levi's shorts there for an acceptable price, however, after wearing them a bit, I quickly realized that they had been badly altered by the previous owner and were completely falling a part. Now, shame on me for not noticing this prior to purchasing, but shame on them for selling badly altered shorts in ratty condition. Today was the real kicker for me though and after my experience today, I definitely will not be shopping here again. I went in to sell, which I have actually done once before and had a good experience with a male buyer. But today I went with a bag of some really good items, i.e. like-new True Religion and Lucky Brand Jeans, $100+ super trendy dresses, and vintage leather jackets in perfect condition worth a few hundred dollars, one of them being a Wilsons Leather motorcycle jacket. Now, I understand that they buy items they feel are trending and if they do not feel my items were trendy, fine. Although, I was a bit baffled that she didn't take a single item of my clothing, and I was more baffled at her attitude and terrible costumer service. The store was busy and I waited in line for about 20 min until I was helped. The girl that looked through my items was a blonde girl with a classic case of RBF; she went through my clothes hastily, barely looking at them before throwing them back in the bag haphazardly, obviously in a rush to get it done and over with, probably so she could go on her break and eat whatever gluten-free, fat-free, sugar-free, joy-free lump of crap wannabe hipster girls eat nowadays. When she talked to me it was in that horrible lazy valley girl fake nice voice and a plastic smile, but her eyes were dead. She pushed my bag of clothes back at me once she had finished and said, "yeah so I'm going to pass," then added, "what's really trending right now are like motorcycle jackets," I looked at her bewildered because I literally had a brand new genuine Wilsons leather moto jacket in the back worth $600. As I stared at her debating whether or not I should enlighten her to this fact, she looked past me completely and said "I can help who's next," no thanks for coming in, no have a nice day, just an abrupt, rude dismissal. I walked out still a bit confused and quickly decided that I would never be going into that store again, solely based on that terrible costumer service. Having worked in retail myself, as well as been the manager of a retail establishment, had that blonde girl been my employee, she would no longer have a job. read more

I'm very disappointed with the customer service I received yesterday. I drove from Santa Barbara to ventura to sell initially about a month ago and made a lot of money back. I was told that they would take a size each of everything I had that day (I used to own an online clothing store and have a lot of inventory left) The girls were really nice and kept praising me for my clothing. The manager let me know that if I had more clothing like this To bring it back to sell. So last night I came in with more clothing, most of it in its packaging still with the tags on them, and I walked away with a minimal amount. The manager, a woman with pink hair and glasses, was rude and condescending. She immediately In a condescending tone asked me where I had gotten all my clothes, as it had all the tags and original packaging. I laughed it off and said oh I used to own a clothing store and she's like OK I just have to ask. But the way that she asked very insulting and suspicious on her part. I had to run to my car to get more bags and when I came back she seem flustered with my inventory. She seem to be upset because nothing was in a large or extra large and she said that that was mostly what they were buying but the last time I was in I was told that they were looking for one in each size. Most of my items were brand clothing such as motel, makers of dreams, daydreamer LA, and other boutique brands aS well as free people and Anthropologie. I really feel like since it didn't fit her or her style, that she was quick to dismiss my clothing. I have to say that In the 30 mins that I was there, I didn't see anyone who was a large or extra large. My experience left me thinking that it really just depends who is behind the counter. It's a really nice shop in a very good location and it's always air-conditioned! Went in for the first time to sell. I brought in 2 designer men's suits: Hugo Boss and Rag & Bone. Both in great condition and i got denied! The site says they are looking for designer wear yet they passed. I also brought in a pair of Coach shoes and were also passed. This store sells a bunch of crap that i could find at a yard sale. Employees here clearly don't know designer when they see. These employees need to be trained on buying/selling. No knowledge whatsoever! read more

While it's our favorite place to shop in Hollywood, we were disappointed in our visit to the Ventura store. To be fair, the service and staff were exceptional. They roamed the store, keep things tidy, offered to help...but ask that cannot overcome the lack of really exceptional pieces. The store had a decent volume of clothing, but was missing the great concert tees, had a limited selection of denim, and had not a single pair of appealing shoes. For the girls, they found a few items...but these teens are pro-level thrifters and 3 out of 4 walked away without finding any true gem. If my wife would have gone it might have been a different story, as there looked to be a decent selection of maxi dresses and skirts...but that was it. Nothing stood out and we were left disappointed in our finds. It may have been an off-day, but I will stick to other stores in Downtown Ventura or make the drive to LaBrea and Beverley Blvd. read more

Staff was VERY friendly and on top of it, however some of the pricing seemed a tad high for what I've experienced at other Buffalos. I saw a pair of booties that I got in black from Urban Outfitters two years ago for several dollars less than they were listed at here -- the perfect example of how I trust their taste, they have cute inventory, but the prices seem comparable to what the items would be new. read more

My issue with this store is two-fold: 1. They are an overpriced thrift shop. Most of the stuff you can find at goodwill - they only carry a few unique items. 2. It is hit or miss with the buyers. This location is by far my favorite. I have been a shopper at the Exchange for years and couldn't be more excited to find one when I moved to this little town. The employees are the nicest ever and the two managers are hilarious. They always entertain me when I'm waiting to sell my clothes. There selection is always awesome and even when they dont take much they are nothing but polite and explain to me what they are looking for. I read some of these reviews and it makes me laugh. As someone who worked for Crossroads before I think its funny when people get so upset at them for not taking their "quality" items because high end clothes from 1993 are not cool anymore, get over it! I have witnessed some of the crazy customers these girls get and I give them kudos for handling it with such dignity. I have had one bad experience with a dude that works there. Not worth my time or effort going in to sale my clothes. I had 7 bags full of new and gently used clothes and shoes that I hardly ever wore. I knew most of it wouldn't go but I though maybe some things would considering I had name brand and new clothes, but to my surprise the girl going through my clothes didn't take anything and some clothes she didn't even look throw. After going throw some of the clothes that they were on sale I realize I should of just brought clothes that have been throw hell. The staff here is by far the worst retail staff I have EVER encountered. They are all extremely pretentious and rude. They don't even pretend to be nice. I've sold here several times and every time, I have been treated like garbage. The actual items in the store are all pretty good and there are definitely some cool pieces, but after giving this place and the staff way too many chances, I will not be returning here to sell or shop. This is an awesome store. Compared to the other used clothing stores I've been to, it has a huge selection of everything: shoes, jacket, shirts, pants, etc. I picked up a really nice blazer for a Halloween party at UCSB (ever heard of it? :) ). It's totally new, doesn't smell or have weird stuff in the pockets (I've had those experiences before). I've also sold clothes back to this store, but I didn't get much (hence the 4 stars). I am so annoyed with this location. Having been a frequent customer of the Fillmore St. location in San Francisco, I know how the operation runs. The people on Main St. think that they have some divine power that allows them to be really snooty with your items. I have brought things in on multiple occasions, and it seems to me that they really don't know anything about apparel. They discard nearly new items that are on trend and would surely sell for peoples old A&F long sleeve T's. It doesn't make sense. First of all, everything is waaaay overpriced, they want retail prices for used items. Second, they give you almost nothingor turn you away for good quality brand name clothing.
