Awesome Buffalo Burger! Perfectly done. Our waitress was great. We'd eat there again in a heartbeat.

Today July 29th at about 1:30pm my wife and I stopped to have lunch at the Buffalo Run Restaurant. When we entered the waitress said we couldn't come in because of my dog. I tried to explain that my dog is not a pet he is a service dog she still said no. While talking to the waitress another woman started talking to me in a loud very rude voice telling me that I had to show her some sort of official paperwork proving my dog is a service dog. I am a100 percent service conected disabled veteran, my dog was wearing a service dog identification vest, he was quiet and well behaved. I was trying to explain that according to the "Americans with disabilities act " There is no such thing as official paperwork when it comes to service dogs. At this point the woman started to yell at me and told me I would not be served at this restaurant, she told us to leave. If this is the way a disabled veteran is treated by those who work at or who own this restaurant I would encourage others to take their business and money elsewhere. Dave H. read more

Poor quality food. We ate there in August this year. It was really expensive and the burgers tasted like they came from frozen meat. We had burgers, buffalo burger and salad. It's better to wait for McDonalds or Wendy's. Service was fine but food was expensive and poor quality. I hate to give a bad review but I don't want others to make the same mistake. read more

We've dined in this place twice, and on both occasions it was because we were returning from day-long hikes in the mountains, and this was the only restaurant open in Marblemount after 7pm. And perhaps that explains why the owner is able to charge ridiculously high prices for mediocre food. On our recent visit (October 2011), we both ordered Buffalo Stroganoff. Tiny bits of meat in cream sauce over bow tie pasta, with garlic toast. Nothing else included. $18.95. The stroganoff was nothing special. The cafeteria at the hospital where I work makes a version that is just as good, if not better, for $4.95. And they include a vegetable. While we were having our dinner, we overheard the owner chatting up people at a nearby table, bragging about how he was able to spend 6 weeks of every year touring in Europe. So there you have it - a sure fire recipe for financial success: open a restaurant in a remote area where you have a steady supply of tourists with no other late evening dining options. Set the menu prices to criminally high levels, and enjoy a life of luxury. If you are looking for a meal near Marblemount, before 7pm, go to the Eatery, at Clark's Skagit River Resort. Great home-style cooking at reasonable prices, and nice people. read more

Huge portions (including a plate sized dinner salad). The buffalo comes from a ranch nearby. I had the buffalo Sstroganoff A little pricey ($15-$20 for a main dish), but there's not many options in this neck of the wood. You're bang against the Cascade Mountain. Despite the prices, hiker/biker friendly and a fairly casual setting. read more

Most horrible service ever! After waiting an hour, we never received our orders. We ordered a burger and chicken strips. After a half hour, they said they didn't have any chicken strips. We ordered chicken sandwich instead. After an hour, I went to kitchen inquiring about our order which was never submitted to the kitchen. They said it would be seven more minutes. I cancelled our order. We came with 13 people, they all complained of the service and price. I do not recommend, stay away! Horrible service, don't waste your time! The burgers we had were fine, nothing fancy at all. We had one venison, one elk, and two beef. It was s50/50 for good and bad. One beef was so dry. You pay extra for everything other than lettuce,onion, tomatoes mayo. Fries were $1.95 and ranch was $.95!!! Onion rings were good, a side cost $5.95. Everything else was extremely overpriced. Entries for dinner started at $18, most were $22-30, upwards to $55. Yes, they serve buffalo and venison, but it was away overpriced for what we were expecting. Our table seemed to have a fruit fly problem...they were dive bombing our food! read more

Well, as expected, the owner of this eatery has again responded to my negative review, with another ignorant response, as he has done with every other negative review. I would think the owner would take a negative review and try to turn it to future positive business, but this isn't what is happening. I suggest that anyone wanting to eat here , would be better off going to the gas station and buying a corn dog. read more

We walked in last Wednesday and asked if we could sit on the deck because it was a very nice day. An older man (learned later was Marshall the owner) in front of several customers yelled at us saying "NO you can't sit on the deck we just washed it and you'll track all of your dirt out there and back in so NO YOU CANT SIT ON MY DECK!!!!" He was so rude so I said "fine f*** you too (very out of character for me, but he struck a nerve) and we walked out. He was yelling at us as we walked outside and still yelling at us through the window when we got into our car. I learned later at the next place we stopped that he is very rude when he comes to their establishment so they are not surprised at our incident. From what I have read about the food I am glad we didn't waste any money on this asshole! He reminds me of Samy on Kitchen Nightmares the Amy's Bakery episode (worth watching). Came in right at the change from the lunch to dinner menu. That's the only positive, getting the lunch prices and the food. Our waitress was mediocre at best. I ordered an Arnold Palmer for a drink. When I told her there was no lemonade, she said she thought I was joking and told me to drink some out and she would add the lemonade and she thought I was joking. The food itself wasn't too bad but the waitress was talking to herself the entire time we were there. On the way to the tables, to the kitchen...everywhere. Just weird! read more

So I just ate here. The service was decent, and the food wasn't bad(though incredibly over priced). However the owner of this establishment completely ruined my experience here. He came up to my table, with what I thought was with precise intentions to offend me... his customer. After asking around later, I learned that my experience is not unusual. Apparently his, in you're face, snarky, and rude behavior is a common thing that to be expected here at the Buffalo run restaurant. No longer will I ever tell someone to eat there, in fact I would suggest the exact opposite. Truly the only reason this has two stars, is because my waitress was quite nice... a complement I wish I could give to the owner of this establishment. If you're looking for good food in the area try the eatery at Clarks cabins. They are very nice, and will treat you in a fashion you should be treated. read more

Service was slow. It took about an hour to get our food from the time we ordered it. We ordered a beer in the meantime and sat with it empty until be walked up to ask our waitress for another. After we ordered we asked if we could add on a bowl of chili and the waitress told us it was too busy to add that on. What? We were that only ones sitting in the restaurant and there were some people outside but it didn't seem busy. When our order finally arrived we were told it "sorry for the wait it takes a long time to cook a wild boar burger". We didn't order a wild boar burger! The waitress had ordered it instead of a buffalo burger. In the interest of time we decided to keep that burger and the only positive here is they took the charge off the bill. Still for 4 beers (two of which we wouldn't neand one paid meal the cost was over $40. They do charge extra for every slice of cheese, sauce (other than catsup), and other things normally given as part of the meal cost at other places. We will not ever return here! read more

I'm a "foodie".....but a practical "foodie". I don't expect Parisian cuisine or bargain prices on a remote outing such as this one. However, I had some of the best ribs ever last night. Okay. I could hammer on some less consequential negative aspects of the dinner. But why? The food was good. The self- promotion of the owner all in good humor, and the place was fun. The owner, who also owns the pristine hotel/B and B of the same name just a nice stroll down the road, provided us with local knowledge of the area, and had our travel plans established for the next two days.....all with good nature and before the main course arrived. Stay at the hotel and eat at the restaurant. We'll be back. read more

If you are taken in by the name, careful. It is not 'world re-knowned' and the food is over priced, not 'fine dining" (as ownersclaim). It is a roadside diner w/ a clever gimmick--"WILD GAME". If you want to drop a bundle of money, try it but don't be surprised w/ the poor quality and rude owners. Not for the famil for sure....too expensive for a child's meal and the portions overall are completely hilarious. read more

11 of our clubs corvette's and about 20 drivers and passengers stopped at the Buffalo Run Restaurant for lunch on our way east over the North Cascade highway. We had called ahead and they were ready for us. We were seated in their garden patio area, which was a delight. The food was very good, the prices were right. We enjoyed the meal and we recommend the place to anyone interested in an interesting food adventure. read more

Overall highly unimpressed with my first (and probably last) visit here. After a week on the trail, anything and everything usually tastes good, but that was not the case here. I ordered a buffalo burger and fries. The burger wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. It was cooked totally dry and lacked seasoning. The fries were OK, but the portion was quite small. They were busy but not slammed when we went, yet the service was slow and people who came in after us were waited on and got drinks before us. The outdoor seating in the back is nice. To conclude, unless you are just itching to try an exotic meat burger (probably cooked poorly), I'd skip this one. In response to the owner's comment on my review, the two star rating I gave was overwhelmingly due to the low quality of the food, not the service. I was not in a hurry the day I dined in your establishment, quite the opposite. However, tables not being waited on in the order they are seated inarguably constitutes poor service, especially when it takes over 10 minutes for staff to arrive at your table with menus and take a drink order. Had your food been better, I would have been happy to leave a positive review despite this issue. To be fair to our waitress, she was friendly in our interactions with her. Yet when asked how the burgers were cooked, she replied "They're supposed to be medium, but most the time they come out well done." Obviously this is a problem when even your employees are conceding that your burger joint overcooks its burgers. Perhaps if you channeled your energies toward fixing your restaurant's shortcomings instead of leaving snarky comments on customer reviews, you would see fewer negative reviews, Marshall. read more

The restaurant seemed like a beacon of deliciousness and a good idea coming out of the Cascade National Park. There were signs on the entrance doors informing the public that the rest rooms were for customers only which at first confused us that we were potentially using the bathroom instead of entering the restaurant. After boldly pushing past the warning sign we were seated very promptly but were ignored by 3 frantic waitresses for quite some time. They all appeared to be very busy, even witnessed one waitress run to her table, but the restaurant was not that full. We finally flagged down a waitress to place our order and our food came out faster than scoring our waitress. She never came over to check on us and we ate very quickly and got out. We unfortunately will not be returning. I'm fairly confident that the staff is qualified it is just the way the restaurant is operated. Properly staffing associates with specific duties would have made this visit more pleasant not just for the patrons but for the hard working employees as well. read more

We stayed at the Buffalo Run Inn one night in July 2015 and because of a (teeny tiny) discount, we decided to have our vacation dinner at the restaurant. Mistake. We decided to overlook the bad reviews on here because of the rave reviews of the outdoor seating. DONT IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS! 1) We wanted to eat outside but the mosquitos and bugs were so bad we couldn't bear it. Go inside, and there aren't any screens and the door is wide open so the bugs followed us in. 2) NO SUBSTITUTIONS. I am a picky eater and have never had trouble being accommodated even at the worst dives. Also this policy makes me think that they have pre-made, complete meals vacuum frozen in back. The only "safe" thing on the menu for me was the chicken Caesar salad. Decent quality lettuce and fresh but a sprinkling of chicken and then nothing else to discern it as a "Caesar salad". No parmesan, no croutons (but came with almost a full loaf of freezer-burned garlic bread). I don't remember what kind of dressing it had because it was practically non-existent. It almost didn't exist. I had trouble with the waitress understanding me in the first place that I was afraid to ask for anything additional (would this be considered off the menu and a substitution if I ordered dressing for my salad?? I didn't want to find out). This brings me to my 3rd complaint. 3) The stories of the owner/proprietor being rude are sadly true. I hate to talk negatively about someone who is just trying to make a living but he was just the icing on the dressing-less cake. "Coop" was on his belt buckle and I believe he is the owner of the Inn too (I had another experience with him involving the inn that I will post about in that place's review). He ignored us standing at the front door for quite awhile while seemingly doing nothing but moving papers around at the register and yelling for a waitress to "get the door". I had to get up and ask him for a refill on water because no waitress was anywhere to be found (and ignored my gestures for attention like a robot or something. I looked her right in the eye and she looked away every time. Like a cyborg) and my dry salad (see #2) was making me thirsty. He grabbed the glass from me and pulling my straw out, grabbing it at the top with his hands, flicking water on me and handing it to me as if I will use it again, and not saying a word and not looking up at me. It was such a weird experience, like I was in the Twilight Zone. He comes back and thrusts the glass back into my hands and when I ask for another straw he tells me that I have one in my other hand (like I'm an idiot and I don't realize that I'm holding a straw?!?) and when I tell him I want a new one, he tells me the waitresses have them and to get one from "one of them" again, all the while, not looking up from the counter. I turn on my heels and sulk back to the table. My husband got a buffalo burger and didn't say much about it, just that it didn't taste any different than a regular burger except it was a lot thinner and wasn't worth the extra money. Positives about this place... hm... I'll have to edit this review if I think of anything. At least I have a tale to tell about the Twilight Zone restaurant and my husband ate buffalo (maybe) even though we had to pay $40 for the privilege. read more

Went there on a Friday night. It was moderately busy. Only two waitresses on duty. Took fifteen minutes to get our drink orders. A half hour wait for a tough buffalo steak and soggy vegetables. The owner, "I've had this place for eighteen years!", doesn't have a clue about running a restaurant. Bottom line...terrible service, mediocre, over priced food. The owner mistakenly thought everyone within hearing distance agreed with his politics. We won't be back & you shouldn't bother going. read more

We stopped here after our day driving through North cascade national Park. We planned on just having a brew however the menu looked interesting so we stayed for a late lunch. We had the buffalo chili with cornbread and a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich with fries. Both were served quickly, and were delicious. We sat outside in the garden and enjoyed a great afternoon. Both craft beers that we chose were great and were served in ice cold glasses. Our experience was a very positive one and I was surprised reading some of the prior reviews. I'm glad I did not read them before I went or we probably would have skipped this little gem of a restaurant. read more

Stayed in town and ate here 3 evenings in a row as there are not a lot of other options. Family tried the kangaroo burger - eater considered it dry; the venison burger - was okay; buffalo burger was deemed to be the best and very tasty. The vegetarian in the group had the tempah burger which was good and the super spud topped with all kinds of veges which was excellent. Blueberry pie was great. The outside seating was a nice spot on hot summer evenings. Our experience with the owner was pleasant. Guess we were just having to much fun on our vacation to worry about things. Prices are a little high for a small town but are comparable to restaurants we go to in Portland and Seattle. read more

Don't waste your money here! Our lunch order which was buffalo burger, Venison burger, beef burger and grilled cheese sandwich took forever. When it finally arrived the buffalo and venison were burned (I mean black) and the grilled cheese was only on 1/2 the bread. Waitress was not very attentive, never came back to check on us but didn't charge us for the grilled cheese at least. Whom ever owns this place clearly is a penny pincher. This place is highly overpriced for what you get. Buffalo Berger was good, skimpy though. Comes with a bag of chips. This practice screams lack in quality. You might expect this at a hotdog stand. Saw the onion rings served at another table and passed on them. Tiny serving for 5 bucks. Got the fries instead but they were all a half cooked pile of oil. Asked if they are supposed to be like that here. Our server was kind and very nice. She said no and would get me better ones. She came back and apologized because the kitchen told her they would have to change the oil, but she said she would not charge me for the ranch or fries. This lack in quality is clearly not her fault but she did right. I wondered but did not say: Then WHY THE HELL ARE THEY SERVING CRAP? The place is attractive when driving the highway but any place that nickel and dimes you for sauce, overcharge you for picnic food and cuts corners with the opportunity to make good food isn't worth the stop. read more

My wife and I booked a room at the Buffalo Run Motel across the street from the restaurant. We made dinner reservations for 7PM that evening when we checked in. I mentioned to the owner Tanooki (Marshalls wife) that my daughter and her fiance were planning to join us for dinner then. We met my daughter at 7PM and went in to sit down. We were given menus, then all hell broke loose. Marshall came to our table and told me that I was in trouble. I smirked and smiled at him thinking he was joking about something. He told me that he found out my daughter and her fiancé were going to stay in our room, and he did not see anything funny about it. We were all shocked! He was very serious in his accusations, and I asked him to explain to me what gave him the idea they were staying with us. He told me that his wife said that I mentioned that they were coming to stay with us. Actually, when I said, "My daughter and her fiancé were planning on joining us for dinner", I did not mean they were staying with us at the hotel. Geez!!!! We went across the street for gas that evening and I told the attendant about what Marshall had said to me. He laughed and told me a story of another poor soul with worse results. Apparently, a man and women ordered something from the menu and there were hairs on one of the steaks, and he complained. Marshall refused to replace it and therefore the man refused to pay for it. The man and women left the restaurant and drove back to the resort they were staying in. Moments later Marshall showed up and followed them into the resort office and threatened the man. WOW!!! We did not know at this point whether it was safe to stay at the hotel or not. But, we stayed the night anyway. I was wanting to check my email that night and for some reason the hotels WiFi was not working. I called Marshall to ask if he could offer assistance. He told me that he knew nothing about it, that it was working fine earlier. I asked if there was a phone number for tech support for his provider, but he told me that he was busy and did not have time for me. Then he hung up the phone! Marshall and his wife Tanooki both share some sort of mental illness and you do not need to be a psychiatrist to know for sure. These folks definitely have some issues. ABSOLUTLEY THE WORST ESTABLISHMENT I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO. I have never even written a review on here and this place made me so inclined to. My girlfriend and I stopped by on our way back west. WORST MISTAKE EVER. I ordered the buffalo burger and it was served to me rare. Don't get me wrong, I love rare meat. I'm a cook and know and appreciate good meat. But not from a sketchy ass little diner serving "exotic" burgers that obviously have to be pre-frozen. Especially when there is NO DISCLAIMER on the menu stating "your exotic burger may be served undercooked." And to top it off the server tried to show me the disclaimer and said "oh wait it's not here." Who the hell are you trying to fool man? You and your establishment are a joke. And by "you" I mean to the cook and owner of this horrid place you call a restaurant. Not to mention my girlfriends chicken strips that tasted like the dirty oil they were fried in. DISGUSTING. We did not pay for the one bite of food we each took. Left $2 for the soda and walked out after returning the food and being ignored for another 5 minutes. After having a nice dinner here once; we decided to stop in on our late summer drive into the mountains. With a change of diet we were unsure if they could accommodate is. We were greeted and then seated. Reviewing the menu, we found our diet could be accommodated nicely. We waited the normal 3-5 minutes while the one waitress stomped back and forth from a table finishing and getting ready to leave. No one came to the table after we were seated. No water, no can I get your drink started or an appetizer?. After about 5-7 minutes of waiting we decided to leave. There were only 3 other tables, two of which were already done. One thing I've learned is the service industry has let itself go. We will not return again, when we choose to eat out in this economy, we should have the service, not be ignored. If the owners of this establishment what people to return, they better step up to the plate and make the service better.. read more

we drove by this place on our way to hike blue lake and were really excited. we talked about it the whole trail and were super excited to eat by the time we got there. we were sat right away and our waitress was really nice, friendly, and attentive. both my friends got the buffalo burgers and i got the salmon since i am not a meat eater. the food wasnt anything to write home about, but i wouldnt say it was as bad as some of these other reviews either. the owner came out and talked to us. he was really friendly and welcoming. if you go, make sure you have some cheesecake. it was delicious...especially with strawberries on top. perfect finish to a day of hiking read more

My husband and I were concluding our Cascade Loop trip and on our last day we tried to get our fill in of every vista sacrificing our need to stop for food. By the time we got to Marblemount, we were ready to eat. We saw the alluring sign for the restaurant and stopped in. We weren't in a total of five seconds when an older man counting the register yell for a girl to come sit us. She happily took us to a seat inside (outside looked nice but too hot out). The decor was actually decent but that's the only thing that was pleasant about this place. My eyes widened at the prices for what was offered. If it's good food, it's worth it. This however was not. I stuck with water, which was a wise choice and hubby got the expensive ice flavored Mountain Dew. We had no idea they charged for refills either. He even had to ask that we needed refills too. That waitress made sure his cup was packed with ice. We got the shrimp cocktail to split and received that almost half an hour later. I've seen fish bait larger and cost us almost $9. You can tell easily it was previously frozen. That appetizer took us two minutes to eat all six shrimp. Finally we got our meals, my husband ordered the special of BBQ beef brisket that came with a side of baked beans and cornbread and the waitress made it clear that what came with it, had to come with it, no substitutions. I got the chicken breast with rice. Both meals $20 each and disappointment came free when we took our first bite. Both were very dry. My chicken was not fresh and had grill marks (only one set on each side, so no indication that it's been flipped multiple times) and a smokey flavor but looked liked it was cooked in a microwave. It was covered in a lemon glaze that was a bit over powering and should of been left in the 80's with all other bad tasteless dishes. The rice was meh and it came with a few snow peas mixed with peppers covered in butter. His BBQ brisket was none better. He only liked the beans which I'm sure came from a can. During our meal, I saw the older man come out two more times to play with the register. I started to feel bad for other parties around us who also waited a long time for their food or just service. I think our waitress knew we weren't too happy with our meal and never once asked if we liked or enjoyed it. She slipped us our bill which was $55 and some change and didn't really say much to us after we paid. When we left the older man, who was still at the register didn't even thank us or give eye contact. As like the majority of the other reviews, they over charge for frozen food and charge for every little extra. I wish I did have a signal to look up this place before we ate there! read more
