I stopped here after hiking in North Cascades for dinner and we enjoyed the food. The service was the best we experienced on our 12 day trip. The spicy chicken was so good with the onions cooked on the hot plate. It was nice that that it came with a salad and rice. The steak with fries and veggies was also delicious. Everything was perfectly cooked. They also have a great selection of beer, wine, and cider! I did not get to try the dessert as I was so full after eating everything on my plate! Easy and fast service as soon as we walked in. Lots to choose from the menu for food and drinks. As for food they had everything from Elk, Bison, Ostrich, and wild boar burgers to teriyaki chicken with rice. Salads and more !!!! They also had regular soda drinks, ciders, beer and wine no hard liquor. It was an interesting ambience with Korean decor and western American decor. They also had a beer and wine fridge area to grab and go as well as an area to buy little knickknacks such as coffee, mugs, hats, socks, and more. They also had desserts such as pies and cakes. Our dinner at Mondo's last week was a pretty great way to end a truly fantastic day of travel and adventure. Full disclosure: We had originally planned to eat at the neighboring restaurant but it was absolutely packed last Thursday evening so with limited options, we found ourselves at Mondo instead... Everything happens for a reason because this spot turned out to be a pleasant surprise! We had to wait a few minutes to be seated, understandable since the hostess was clearly juggling quite a bit, but once we were settled things moved along smoothly. The menu is more extensive than you might expect, with a large variety of burgers that immediately caught my eye. I ended up ordering the Bacon Cheeseburger (minus the cheese) and wow... It was so good. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. It really hit the spot after a day of travel, hiking, and sightseeing. I also didn't realize my travel companion had a sweet tooth which led us to look at the dessert menu. I chose the apple pie and we split a scoop of huckleberry ice cream because when in the PNW, right?! Both were delicious and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The decor inside Mondo is quirky and cool with a welcoming vibe that is between a casual mountain lodge, a hometown diner, and an Asian restaurant! Our server was friendly and efficient but she seemed incredibly rushed and could've slowed down a bit... A little more attention and pacing would've improved the service. All in all, Mondo was a great find, especially given the remote location. It's always comforting to know there are solid and satisfying meals like this one waiting for you after a day of adventure in a small mountain town/just outside the National Parks. read more

Highly recommend if you're on your way to or from hiking in the North Cascades. This spot is a delicious food spot right on Hwy 20, with lots of burger options as well as fish and vegetarian options. Pretty big place with very attentive and polite service. The salmon fish and chips were super tasty, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The beyond burger was also well cooked, and the blueberry cobbler cheesecake we had for dessert was delicious. Good portions for good prices. My friends and I were looking for a place for a late breakfast. This place was opened when we rolled into town in the morning. The restaurant was very clean. Not a spot on the floor. There were a few tables of customers that were in different stages of their meals. The server was very nice. Came back several times to see if we were ready to order. I asked her if they still had the bulgogi since I didn't see it on the menu. That's what I ended up ordering. That and the gyoza. My friends ordered different burgers. The food came out fairly quickly. My gyozas came out first. They were just meh. Nothing special about them. But my friends liked them. When my dish came out, it was on a bed of onions on a sizzling plate. The onions would cook a little bit while there. They were raw when they were put on there. It's mostly for filler than anything else. The white rice was wonderful. Soft and cooked through nicely. Not all clumping together. It was hot and served in a bowl. The way I like it. The bulgogi was delicious. The meat was savory and tender. Needless to say, I had to order an extra bowl of rice. I love rice and this rice was delicious. It complimented the bulgogi perfectly. It came with a house salad which I was very impressed with. The vegetables were extremely fresh. Lettuce was cold and cut up nicely. Button mushrooms were Snow White, like they had just been sliced. The cucumber, carrots, red cabbage and red onions were all freshly cut. It came with black olives from the can. But that's ok. I had a vinaigrette dressing and that worked well. I highly recommend both the salad and the bulgogi. Definitely a winner. My friends say that their burgers were juicy, hot and delicious. Plenty of fries came with them. The bathroom was immaculate. I would steer clear of this dish because there are plenty dishes to try on the menu. - Salads: The portion was good, but it's not my favorite salad. The dressing was okay. The BBQ chicken is surprisingly good. - Spicy Pork: One of the table's favorite dishes. The pork is coated in spicy sauce, and it has a good spicy kick to it. The onion was fresh and sweet. - Spicy Chicken: Table's favorite. Served in a hot plate that makes sizzling sound as the dish arrive at your table. The smell filled the room and we cannot contain our hunger and were ready to devour our food. The chicken was on point! The restaurant has their own parking space dedicated for guests to park their car. So, you don't have to worry about parking if you are travelling with a big group. I have to mentioned that the food is probably overpriced. However, the price does makes sense if you consider the location of this restaurant and factor in the fact that there is no other asian food nearby. Other than the price, everything is great! We honestly loved this place. Definitely a family owned business. The food was good, the variety was large relative to the area, ambiance was quaint with a mismatched feel (not upscale by any means), but the ultimate find was unmatched hospitality. The staff are kind, accommodating, and definitely working their tushies off. The food is simple but great once in from a long hike up the cascades. Yesterday we shared a chicken , bacon, ranch wrap. The waitress was sweet enough to plate half a wrap with fries on two separate plates. It was just a regular wrap, nothing special, but gosh darn it is good after a 6 hour hike. This morning we came back for breakfast. The menu is limited with eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, and sliced ham. Consistent with the nearest grocery store being atleast a 45 minute drive away. The single woman show will give you whatever combination of those foods you'd like. I felt like I was eating a meal at grandmas house (only applicable if your grandma made a killer Sunday morning breakfast). In addition they have a tiny shop of essentials and the largest variety of of alcohol choices in the immediate area inclusive of room temp wines, chilled wines, beer, non alcoholic beverages, and even some oriental spirits in the mix. This is a COVID-era review. This is pretty much the only decent establishment around to eat from what it looks like. It also is the only reliably open one during the weekday. It's interesting with the mix of Asian and American cuisines. I got the Mondo burger which is beef teriyaki in a burger form. Pretty good The rest of the menu items looked good too. Note that the prices are definitely on the higher side. Can't blame them though since "supply" is low and "demand" is high in this area, esp if it's the only one leading up to North Cascades. Parking is really easy around the restaurant. There are two bathrooms in the back. You can buy alcohol here too (and souvenirs). One awesome thing is that they ask you if you want a single bill or split amongst the party. Great service overall! read more

The Pacific Northwest is full of surprises. During my trip to Seattle, I went up to the North Cascades for a few days to hike, and we decided to "rough it" two out of the four days by eating at Mondo. Luckily, I checked Yelp, because we were about to eat somewhere else pretty bad. On that account, Mondo was a bit of a life saver. So for the surprise? It's a Canadian-Korean place. Who woulda thought that out of all the diners they have in this area that's pretty much in the middle of nowhere -- they'd have a place combining these two cuisines? They have solid bulgogi, spicy pork, and chicken. Their burgers are typical fanfare, but they also have bison and elk options for someone looking into a more exotic burger flavor. On that side of the spectrum I had a burger that combined elk, buffalo, and bison, and if I'm being completely honest -- I couldn't tell a difference with the patty. That said, it was still an enjoyable and hearty meal. The thing about Mondo is that they have pretty much everything, so I wouldn't say they specialize in anything, but after a hike--you just wanna eat, and the ability to pretty much have the world be your oyster is a blessing. This place also seems to have its regulars, so they should be here for a while. In addition to that, they have a good selection of beers, casual road items, and souviners that make it a one-stop shop for your essentials. read more

Loved the food and quick, friendly service! Came back from hiking Cascade Pass and this place was conveniently located after you exit the Cascade River Road. Friendly, Korean waitress recommended the meatless burger and it was so delicious! Fries were really good too. Their homemade teriyaki sauce is really tasty too! Clean and nice decor inside. Would definitely go there again! Highly recommend paying this place a visit if you're in the area. We were on our way to Diablo Lake and saw Mondo was highly rated on Yelp so we stopped here for lunch. I had the special Bleu Cheese Burger with fries and a soft drink. Others in my group had everything from Teriyaki Chicken (served with steamed rice and salad), Tofu Teriyaki, Mushroom Burgers and more. Mondo's has a lot of Asian dishes here which is not common in these parts. They seem to do a good job with them. They also offer Elk and Buffalo burgers which you don't see very often. They make and sell their own teriyaki sauce here and have bottles of it on their tables. We tried it and found it was delicious! I even added it to my fries! The service was friendly and the interior was decorated nicely. They have a sort of gift shop towards the back of the dining area and seem to sell some homemade items as well as the usual souvenir fare. This place is great and worth a stop when in the area.
