Small town diner located in Mount Vernon, Washington, serving up classic diner fare in building that has housed a diner since the 1940's Our group of eight took an early morning tour of the RoozenGaarde Tulip farm, so when it was over, we needed a nearby place to have breakfast. The Lunchbox Diner seemed like a good choice to have enough variety to satisfy our entire group. We got lucky in that there was two empty tables that could be put together to seat us, and we ended up staying over an hour there. Our table ended up ordering French Dip with fries ($17.99), Reuben Sandwich with cup of turkey noodle ($17.99); Patty Melt with cup of tortilla soup ($20.99); Smash Burger ($14.99); Breakfast Sandwich ($12.99); Kids Cake breakfast ($11.99); chocolate milk ($3.99); Coffee ($3.49); Fountain Pop ($3.49). The bread used for all the sandwiches were good: hefty with good thickness and grilled nicely. Everyone was friendly, and our party seemed to enjoy their meal. You can pay up front with credit card, and by the time we left, the place was getting really full.

Food is very tasty. The waitress was very nice and kept our drinks full even with a full restaurant. The restraunt is a quaint little place with about 14 tables and 6 bar stools. The onion rings ca.e out so hot we had to let them cool. There is not a lot of street parking close by, so you may have to walk a block or two. Get there early because the locals fill it up about noon. This is a must try restraunt.

Another great local restaurant with early hours and a fantastic breakfast menu. I enjoyed their chicken fried steak, gravy was a bit much but the food overall was good.

One of the best chicken fried steaks!

If you're looking for a place that locals frequent and delicious food made from scratch, you found it! Great, quick service, endless yummy coffee refills, and food that begs to be eaten, but your tummy is smaller than your eyes. We'll be back!

Charming, old-school diner that keeps up with the times with generous servings, full range of dietary options, and reasonable prices. Endlessly flowing coffee pairs well with their thick-cut sandwiches, comforting biscuits and gravy, and eggs any way you want them. Staff are quick, friendly, and treat the regulars drifting in and out like family.

Breakfast sandwich with a biscuit instead of sourdough. Make the mod and trust me on it

If you want a great brunch spot this is the place to be. Call ahead for a table because it will be busy! Really friendly staff and they were able to accommodate a large group of us (12 people) on a short notice (within 30-minutes). I was not sure what to order, so i decided to browse yelp to see some of the pictures for inspiration and what screamed at me was the breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich comes standard on sourdough, but several of us asked for it to be on a buttermilk biscuit and wowowowowow that was good. Its a killer biscuit with scrambled eggs, choice of protein (bacon, sausage, or ham) with cheese. Keep in mind it is just a sandwich so if you want a little more food add on a side. i went with hashbrowns and they were hot and soft in the middle and golden crispy on the outside. My 8-year-old taxed 80% of my hashbrown because it was that good. If you want a side of pancakes, it is HUGE. start with just one unless you are hungry and they are really good. I bookmarked this place and definitely will be back! this place is the place for brunch up in the Mt. Vernon area!

By far the best breakfast I've ever had. I will be saving this place on my map and next time I'm up north I'll be stopping back.

This co-op in Skagit is filled with healthy alternatives, fresh produce, and even a juice/coffee/snack bar serving up some delicious bites. I found a number of local products and beers to buy from the grocery side, and a mushroom sandwich. I cannot properly describe the deliciousness of this sandwich - you just had to be there. I also loved that the co-op's second story is filled with the most unique home and gift items you'll find. Everything is sustainable first, and they even have a decent book selection. Couldn't imagine a better place to spend my Saturday, just wish I lived closer so I could visit every weekend.

We had ordered two pineapple conchas from the dessert case for a post-lunch dessert. The veggies on the sandwich were so fresh it hit the spot for a light midafternoon meal. There is an upstairs seating area, it's really quiet and private. After we ate our lunch, we looked at some trinkets in the gift shop that's upstairs too. It truly has it all!

I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. It was sweet with a little tart aftertaste. For my meal I opted for the Porterhouse Cheese Curds as an appetizer and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries for my main dish. The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn't think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn't think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!! I was very tempted to order a slice of the chocolate cheesecake with housemade fudge for dessert, but I was stuffed by my appetizer and meal.

The service was fast and friendly, and the prices were super affordable. I especially appreciated that they had one of my favorite seltzers, from Stemma Brewing, on tap! We enjoyed a couple of appetizers. The calamari was crispy and delicious, and served with a side of tasty aioli. Although not quite enough aioli, as we ran out about half way through the calamari and had to order more. (Tbh I was kinda surprised when I saw they had charged us for the "extra" aioli.) The hot artichoke dip was good, too, though the portion was pretty small for the price. I'd come back again, but maybe during happy hour as it might be a better value.

They are only open until 3:30 pm so be sure to manage time well. And don't expect an empty place, it's usually populated. Tight space, so scoot in those chairs as far as you can. We had breakfast there last Wednesday morning, and from the moment we arrived, it felt special. The outside is adorable, but somehow the inside is even more charming. There's such a warm, welcoming energy the second you walk in. Off to the side is their incredible shop, "Re-Feather Your Nest," filled with thousands of unique and beautiful items--it honestly feels like a destination all on its own. To the left when you enter, you're greeted by their bakery cases, and wow--there are more options than most bakeries I've ever seen. Everything looked amazing, and we were lucky enough to be seated right away (always a win!). The restaurant itself is two stories, and our table overlooked the store below, which made the whole experience even more fun. We started with their famous cinnamon roll, fresh coffee (with the cutest little design on top!), and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice--which was incredibly refreshing. For breakfast, I ordered the Calico Benedict on a homemade English muffin with corned beef--so good! And the country-style potatoes? Easily some of the best I've ever had. I couldn't even finish them and happily took the rest home...they were just as delicious the next day. My husband ordered the Breakfast Sampler with sausage and loved every bite as well. What really stood out, beyond the food, was how clean everything was and how genuinely happy the staff seemed. You can tell they enjoy working there, and that makes such a difference. After breakfast, we wandered through the gift shop and found so many unique treasures--big and small. I actually visited Magnolia in Waco, Texas a couple of months ago, and honestly, this is the kind of charming, personality-filled place that would fit right in there (and maybe even outshine it!). If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by--even if it's just to browse the shop. It's one of those rare places that truly has it all. A must-visit!
