The Coralville location is much better. When Coralville was packed I decided to drive over here only before calling to make sure they're doing the two minute drill special. Then driving across town to be told they are not. Proceed to pay for many full price beers before I call (from the restaurant) and literally they tell me they are from the manager. Then confronted the bartended who was worthless. It was the worst experience ever and then they wouldn't honor the two minute drill. Will never come to this location. The 3 of us Waited an hour for our food, when we inquired they said it would be at least 30 more minutes, we requested a full refund and walked out. OH MY GAWD. We went at 9 pm and let me tell you. We ordered a couple drinks and ate at the bar. They don't have actual wait staff, so we had to let someone by the expo line know. Server was alright - definitely felt like she didn't want to be there. There were cornhole boards in the middle of the dining room, and kids literally running around. Almost got smacked by bags a couple times because they were running rampant. So it was very loud between the boards and large jenga. We ordered a 20pc wing and fries to share. I think we ended up waiting like half an hour for food - which is kind of crazy given how not-full the restaurant was, but we just waited patiently. Only received 15/20pc we ordered and when communicated what was missing, it came out crazy fast. I would give 0 stars if I could. We love Buffalo Wild Wings but both times we've come to this location we've been severely disappointed. Today we came and it felt like the AC was broken and no one greeted us. Fine, I understand this one is self serve. We sat down and ordered on our phones. Then we proceeded to wait over a half an hour for our food. We didn't see any other people dining until after we ordered so I'm not sure why it took so long. While we were waiting for food, dying of heat, my partner went to get water but there were no cups out. When he asked a member of the staff for water cups she said "I guess." Came here late Sunday night because it was about the only food and bar place still open, and our 18-year old freshman was with us. The menu here is pretty basic and consistent. I broke with the norm and got a huge plate of nachos. I also got two tall sized Big Grove IPAs, I am guessing 20 ounces. On the whole, I'd say the nachos were not overly unhealthy. Very good. I always try to support and try out local breweries when traveling. I have found a favorite in Iowa City: Big Grove IPA. What is weird is I think the same IPA I bought at Pullmans the day before was better, even fresher, if that is possible. Still good enough here to spend $18 for two. Bartender service was awful. Took an eternity to get our drinks which we ordered at the bar, and there were not that many patrons. I'd give them 1 star. We came here to witness friends do the blazing challenge and overall BDubs has not changed much over the last several years except maybe the addition of bourbon honey mustard wings to their menu. This location is more casual because you order separately at the register and retrieve your food from the window when your buzzer goes off. We came on a Saturday night and the young staff was friendly and helpful with our orders. The best part of the meal were $3 margs! They weren't very strong, but I always get excited about drink specials. My favorite wings are Asian Zing, bourbon honey mustard, and Caribbean jerk. I also enjoy the bbq dry rub or salt and vinegar wings every once in a while. Because of the challenge the blazing wings were made fresh and they were steaming when they came out. Seriously, had a Grubhub order that was delivered with things missing, called Buffalo Wild Wings themselves instead of going through Grubhub, Connor picked up and he had them right by him and said we could either come get them or he would refund them. Wings are great. Nice space and tons of TVs everywhere. Great beer/drink selection. My only issue is that that's how a Buffalo Wild Wings is suppose to be. That's why we go out instead of stay in. But if I have to go to a counter to get my food AND walk to the bar to get my beer and water and carry it back to my table then it feels like I'm in a college cafeteria. All the workers in their BWW jerseys stand and talk to their friends and ignore the customers. The bartender is the only one working hard. So it's fine to some extent because then we just don't have to tip on the food and no ones gonna die from having to walk to the bar. But it might be worth driving the 15 minutes to the other one to get real service. I could go to the grocery store from some good wings and beer and enjoy the game without leaving my couch and it'd be WAY cheaper. Food wise, I expect every BDubs is mediocre and greasy. What makes this one extra mediocre is the fact that instead of table service, they do counter service instead. COUNTER SERVICE IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. The only time I really ever ate at BDubs before was as a group because it used to be somewhere that you could easily accommodate large (10+) groups but the change from table service to counter service makes it SUPER annoying to do. Recently we came here for a student org dinner as a group of 14 and it was pretty hard to sit together since there is no waitstaff and you have to claim your own table. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy but since there's no seating chart and it's just a free-for-all you just have to hope that tables next to each other will clear up at the same time. Ordering at the counter was fine, but getting your food was a pain. Usually when you eat as a group you would expect to get your food all at roughly the same time but no, by the time I got my order most of the group was already done eating even though I was one of the first to order in our group. With that being said, if you're going to order takeout, you're better off just ordering online unless you want to sit in BDubs for 25-35 minutes waiting for your food. You might think, "oh because they fry everything fresh it would make sense to have to wait," but number 1, I would never wait that long for any other fast food/fast casual restaurant, and number 2, the wings I had (medium traditional, split spicy garlic and asian zing @ 14.99) were so dry that you could have told me they were sitting under a heat lamp since yesterday and I would have believed you. Another con is that they no longer do any deals on traditional wings, only boneless which I don't wanna eat ever because ew. Boneless Tuesdays and Boneless Thursdays are your only options for eating here in a way that doesn't break the bank because even an order of small traditional wings is like $10. TL;DR: The food is terrible, slow, and expensive as always, the new counter service system is possibly the worst/most inconvenient idea BDubs has ever come up with, they got rid of the promo deal on traditional wings and only have deals on gross nasty boneless. read more

NOT this one. we (2 people) sat at the bar at around 8:30pm on a friday night. it was not terribly busy. Should have been my first clue!! bar had 2 other customers only and the seating area was not close to full. first thing we noticed was the stacks of dirty glasses right in front of us. nice. grabbed a couple of menus..............holy frickin sticky!!!!!!!!!! you got to be kidding!!! once we finally ordered i started to look around a bit and noticed the waitress station to are left. as i was gazing there was a waitress trying to reach around and over PILES of dirty glasses to get to her computer to place and order. i nudged my buddy and we both started laughing out loud at what a joke this place was. the manager finally showed up to do some dishes since the bartender apparently wasn't able or willing. atleast the food was good and the beer was cold ADVICE: stick to the BW3's in Coralvile next to Biolife. that one is always clean, excellent service and friendly staff. i would review it but its not on yelp yet read more

But still, have to say that the wings did come out at a decently fast time, and as such I give it four stars instead of three. The host yelled at us for trying to sit at the bar, which is not typical at all as normal restaurants (the ones that care about return customers) do not prevent customers from sitting at the bar when there is plenty of room to sit there. I eat at the Ankeny location occasionally and have always been satisfied and happy..A buddy and I were in town for Iowa Wrestling dual and to see our sons who go to college there..we let them pick the place..I am guessing the self serve set up is fine with drunk college kids spending their parents money. But worst idea ever..stand line to order..no menus to look at until you are at the register?? Prices are the same and you pick up your own drinks, food, and clean up after yourself. Wt#..then god forbid you want a beer with your wings another line and another bill. Just stupid for what I am used to from them. And when you pay at the register it prompts you with a do you want to ad a tip? For what?? Do people actually do this? Do I tip the burger king cashier? Then the group of 6 of us all had to make trips to the front to pick it our food. But of course none at the same time..my buddy and I both got onion rings and he had twice as much?? The food is normal BWWs fare. The setup however is not good. You order food and drinks at separate counters. If you have children, particularly young children, it's incredibly difficult to eat here unless you have other adults with you. Terrible for families or large groups. I have always loved Bdubs and this used to be one of my favorite locations. Whoever decided to make it self service, it was a bad move. Instead of it being a fun place to come for dates or a reunion with friends and family, it is now like fast food. You stand in a super long line and then order your food at the register and are given a buzzer. They have no idea what they're doing and are confused behind the counter.
