This was our first time dining here. Upon entering, the restaurant looks appealing, but once you reach the dining area and see the food stations, it becomes discouraging. The cleanliness at several stations was concerning, and having cold desserts displayed alongside hot food does not make sense and could potentially be unsafe. We didn't realize until after we had already paid that the bill had increased by almost $10 without any explanation. There's a hibachi section where they cook the food of your choice which is also unlimited. Very delicious! They keep the areas clean and make sure everything is running smoothly. Went with my friend. She loves to go to this place so she took me. I love the chandeliers and the fish pond and of course I better love the food. We both ordered hot tea @ $.50 at least for now. We took turns going to the buffet so that each could watch the others belongings so you can free up your hands. They have plastic gloves to use but not everyone was using them but I did because I care. They have a large variety of many foods this was the higher price day all day, but you get a discount for being a senior. On higher price days there are crab legs and such. Waitress could have been a little more friendly but for these days and times I will excuse her. And the whole place has beautiful chandeliers fish pond and split off areas with seating. I had some ham on my plate and had to ask for a knife as you only get a spoon and fork wrapped in a napkin. My ham needed to be cut due to my dentures. At least it was like a steak knife so was able to have a little bit of roast also. They also have a sushi bar which does nothing for me I don't eat that stuff. In the back they have a table to pick out all the different things to go on a stir fry and a gentleman will cook it up for you and give it back to you. Every thing has good flavor pleasing to the eye and everything seemed to move along well. Even though I don't use the sushi bar I noticed they have proper warning about raw fish and also they have a little tip bucket for the person in back of that area. I did not notice if the cook in the back had a tip cup or not but I'm sure he did. I have many choices of desserts which I don't eat much of due to diabetes. At the end of the trip we both checked out the bathrooms they were fine I've always heard if the bathrooms are clean then the restaurants OK. Plenty of sanitizing stations throughout the area. So we had a party of 5 . One of our guests could not eat but to a medical issue. He just wanted to enjoy being around the other 4 of us . it's a very pretty place when you walk inside, you first notice the cherry blossom, then the Koi Pond. With rows of fresh hot food, the workers are nice and polite. Last Sunday we went to Buffet City at 2150 Tamiami Trl, Port Charlotte. This was not our first time there, but we decided to come there early and arrived when they opened at 11 AM. I have to say, this was a much better experience for us as it was not busy at all. The food was all so fresh and you could move easily and pick out the morsels you wanted with ease. The place was clean and bright and without all the people, it was actually delightful. One thing I appreciate about Buffet City is the sheer variety that you are presented with. The food was all good tasting and as I said, it was fresh. It is one of the best places around if you are entertaining picky eaters. Even the fussiest person is bound to find something they will like. They have everything from sushi to beef; green salad items to seafood salads. It's amazing the amount of different foods they prepare every day. If you are ever near Charlotte Square, you should stop in and see it for yourself. To be honest upfront I'm not a fan of buffets. I just don't typically eat a lot at one time. However, a family member really wanted to go, so I said I'd go. We decided to go at lunch because it's cheaper and we had a senior, so we wanted them to be able to get the senior lunch special. The board when you walked in said the normal prices, but once you got to the hostage stand there was a sign in sharpie on a piece of printer paper that said, "All Day 21.99." This is more than the typical dinner price! Having already walked in we decided even with the price increase simply because it was New Year's Day, but for nothing extra, we decided to stay. The food was almost all cold or tasted awful. The best I could find was the banana pudding and the egg rolls, and neither was amazing. The waitress was fine, she cleared the plates efficient enough. This place has the most rudest staff. They have on many occasions taken full plates away that haven't even touched yet. Everyone is unfriendly and rude. The last hour before they close they start starring you down like all of them. Almost fell because they mop while ppl still eating and signs are not everywhere.
