BBQ Combination with roasted duck and spare ribs
    marina s.

Another update: Another great visit to Ginger Dim Sum on Memorial Day weekend. This time I went w one of my favs-BBQ combo w roasted duck and spare ribs accompanied w Lucky Buddha beer. Roasted duck was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, spare ribs were pure delight as well. The service was friendly and attentive . One of my fav places to dine in Charlotte county.

Ahhh dim sum after Thanksgiving! So what do you do when you're recovering from a Thanksgiving feast coma? Dim sum of course! With us celebrating Thanksgiving at mom and dad's in Punta Gorda, all 11 of us trekked here post-turkey day for a family lunch. Being here reminded me of the childhood days of having dim sum as a family after a holiday or special event. Only thing missing was the push carts that we could pick the dishes ourselves! Nevertheless, the food is delicious and priced affordably. We ordered all the classic dim sum dishes which included the pork shu mai, pan fried pork buns, shrimp dumpling, spinach shrimp dumpling, steamed beef rice roll, and pan fried turnip cake. Also added the beef chow fun, lo mein combo, and the crispy peking duck. Every item was straight up fire and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. We were surprised there were no pancake rolls with the duck and instead were given the soft bao buns; but everyone ate those and probably secretly liked that version better! Even the kids ate everything on their plates (thank god)! Service is fast and the people here speak fluent chinese so you know the food here is legit! Super glad this is in Port Charlotte; this will definitely be part of our rotation when we go out for lunch/dinner!

I have been planning on trying Ginger Dim Sum since I heard they opened. Finally, one Saturday, Mom and I decided to go for lunch. We got there right at opening and the employees greeted us right away. Our service was amazing as was the food. She was attentive, friendly and warm. The food was reasonably priced. The ambience was welcoming and inviting. We will definitely be back. By the time we left 45 minutes later, the place was filling up so apparently this must be a great spot to go to, if it's that busy and popular during off-season.

Aways a go to for good Asian food. The service is kind of slow clearing off the tables. Overall a great, affordable restaurant.

Shrimp lo mein with veggies. Where are you shrimp and veggies?

We got take out because it was Friday in season in Florida so I thought it might be crowded and I was tired. I had read about every review and knew what I wanted. The Yang Chow fried rice was good and colorful. The lo mein with shrimp and vegetables was cooked well, but the vegetables and protein here were minimal. It was almost as if they have a measuring cup to add the good stuff that makes the dish and they said, " nah, it's to go, just cut back. So I really give it a 3.5 but want to go in and sit down and see if you get a touch more than just a ton of noodles. They were tasty noodles but for 35.39 I can do it better at home.

MONGOLIAN BEEF lunch special ! This was the BEST!

Another great experience! Went for the Dim Sum lunch specials; left with a full belly ! Started off with Dim sum and Crispy pork belly. That bbq sauce they serve with the pork belly was so unique & perfectly paired. The fried pork and vegetable bun was my favorite, the texture was like a bao bun. The almonds also made the shrimp ball very crispy and nutty! Can't wait to go back and try new dishes! The Mongolian beef was the BEST we've ever had. The mango chicken was very light and refreshing- we think it would be even better if the chicken was battered and fried - like they do the orange chicken! Bistro Lo mein wasn't pictured- but still MY FAVORITE HANDS DOWN! Don't forget to get some hot oolong tea! I think it's the Perfect pallet refresher!

In the mood for something different found Ginger Dim Sum / Asian BBQ on yelp with some really good reviews don't know until you try it so here we go. Walk in and greeted immediately by hostess, was kind enough to even asked me where I would like to sit. Nice touch. Suggest making reservations if you can it gets busy. Super nice layout and decor and extremely clean. Easy to read menu and staff was very helpful. Ordered Dim-Sum platter 10 pcs and a order of braised chicken feet. I have been at several dim sum restaurants and this takes the cake absolutely fresh correctly prepared and full of flavors very impressed with my meal and service. positively one of the best dim sum / Asian BBQ a must try highly recommended. Also took home pork belly and duck for lunch tomorrow

    food when it first arrived

Ordered clams and scallop meal, clams had hard stuff in them (only ate 4 before deciding I was grossed out enough to stop giving it a second chance) scallops and shrimp tasted old and rubbery and somehow like they were cooked in dirty marsh water. We had ordered other food (appetizers) which was mediocre at best and also cooked poorly. The waitress proceeded to full on argue with us when we asked for the main entrees to be taken off the bill because we WERE NOT EATING IT, she lied and said she was the manager after we had requested one and then told us she "can't return the meal just because we are white and don't like Asian spice" and "well you ate half of this one already so no" (pictured below of when I got the meal and then when I had asked for it to be taken off the bill) It was explained to her multiple times that the sauce/spice was not the problem and we eat seafood very frequently. Only one meal had been taken off the bill (reluctantly and after about 10 minutes of literal arguing). Absolutely disgusted with how we were treated and that I was forced to pay for an untouched meal. If I could give this place negative stars I would. (updated response) I would like to add that we are not dumb and did not try to eat the clams with the shells on them ??? lol this place is unbelievable, the scallops dish had two bites taken out of it and was just basically moved around while we decided if we wanted to speak up about it or not... which you can see in the photos attached to this review.

With that being said, the hour-and-ten minute drive from Lutz was well worth the effort to eat the Dim Sum King (plus we made a day out of it). For starters, Dim Sum King excelled in all the categories of variety, quality, and freshness. Dim Sum King's dim sum is ordered from the menu - you mark the number of the respective dim sum plate that you wish to order on a dry-erase menu placard and receive the food as they are made. While different than the push-cart ordering which gives you more of an eyes-on confirmation of the actual dishes and a nostalgic-traditional dim-sum brunch vibe, the menu ordering offers a different approach. Ordering from the menu potentially means that each plate is cooked right and not sitting in the steaming cart which may result in overcooked food or sogginess. So the food does come out fresh here! When it comes to variety, Dim Sum King has most of the usual suspects - har gow, shui mai, chicken feet, short ribs, tripe, lo bak go (turnip cake), shrimp/beef/veggie cheung fun (rice noodle rolls), and sticky rice. Additionally, they carry other fanciful dim sum dishes such as zhaliang (fried Chinese donut rice noodle roll), crispy shrimp toast and stuffed eggplant. Simple and great dim sum menu! The quality is arguably the best I've had in a while. Each dish was made and cooked to perfection. Specific call outs to the crispy shrimp toast and beef cheung fun - these were amazing in both flavor and textures. Our friends told us that the place usually has a line. Perhaps it was right after the holidays, but they were seated promptly around 12pm when they arrived. The restaurant has two large round banquet tables that seat approximately 10, with smaller set-ups of booths and table between. Definitely one of the best dim sum spots in this region of Florida!

One of our neighbors used to live in the area and recommended anything in Tin City for lunch. We walked to Tin City from the free parking structure just off 5th Avenue and, while we found the area mildly interesting, we didn't like any of the typical joints along the water. Besides, having eaten at Dockside in Venice the day prior, we were looking for something other than seafood. In looking at Yelp, we were intrigued by Ichi Togarishi so we walked back towards 5th Avenue. Located just off 5th Avenue, this small place would be quite easy to miss. Upon entering, we realized how snug this place was. We were seated promptly and presented the menu. My wife ordered the Chicken Veggie Shoyu Soy Ginger and I had the Chashu Belly Garlic Noodle. We both liked our dishes, with complex, bold flavors. The Chashu belly was tender with sweetness and soy flavor shining thru. Its flavor profile reminded me of Pad Thai. A very nice find in Naples!

The restaurant has a large menu featuring different ramen (dry or w/ soup) and rice dishes, as well as appetizers. I tried their steamed vegetable dumplings and the pork ribs dry ramen. Both dishes were fantsastic. It was the first time that I had dumplings filled with endamame+minced garlic. It was savory and slightly sweet. The meat in the ramen was fork-tender and full of umami; the ramen was chewy; and it was served with a wide variety of fresh vegetables (zucchin, broccoli, carrot, onions, green onions, corn, microgreens, pickled ginger). The ramen was ~5oz. PS: the noodles are salty -- ramens are meant to be salty. Service was awesome. Several things that my server impressed me: 1. He asked me about my food allergies -- important for seafood-dense restaurants like a Japanese restaurant. 2. I asked for some extra ramen when I just got the entree. He suggested to bring me the extra when I almost finish the ramen in my entree. Surprisingly, he brought a small bowl of ramen exactly when I was about to finish it -- very precise and customer-oriented. 3. Food was served in a reasonable amount of time. 4. When he was taking the order of another table, he gave recommendations to the customers based on their dietary preferences, instead of blindly mentioning the "signature dishes" like most servers do. Moreover, when the customers ordered food, he squat down to listen what they said carefully. So, yes, I speak highly of this restaurant. Definitely recommend it. And I will dine in it again next time I visit Naples.
