The food is always good. The people are always nice. Last night I used the washroom. It was filthy dirty. Not just messy or untidy. The floors and walls are grimy and caked with dirt. Went here a couple of weeks ago and we're very happy with the food. The hostess was also the waitress, server and bus person. She was fun to talk with.my wife started with the wonton soup and i had the egg drop/wonton soup. We both enjoyed them. We decided to go with all apps plus pork fried rice. Our apps were egg rolls, crab Rangoon and chicken wings. We were very happy with all of it and ate it all. Not many good Chinese places around here with good for but this one was good for our taste buds. We will return. The wings were great, big and meaty. read more

Second time ordering from Golden China. This time I ordered special fried rice and boneless spare ribs. Definitely New York style Chinese food. I've tried 6 different places in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Golden China is by far the best. Staff is super friendly and everything that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. I ordered chicken szechuan style. It's supposed to be spicy chicken with mixed vegetables. I GOT a bunch of onions in a spicy red sauce. I think there might have been 3 pieces of chicken in it. Additionally, EVERYONE of us got diarrhea, although none of us ordered the same things. I was the only one that ordered something spicy. SO, I threw away the "NOT" szechuan chicken. My advice; stay away from this place unless you like upset stomach and several trips to the bathroom, NEVER AGAIN. The food is NOT SAFE for human consumption. read more

Looked up where to go for lunch. We have had different foods the last couple of days and decided to go chinese today. This restaurant was on a strip mall. Lunch was adequate and the friendly and fast service a plus. They offer a lot of varieties for lunch. I decided on a combo of shrimp and chicken stir fry with veggies. I stopped here for lunch while driving from Fort Myers to Orlando and now I'm dying to find an excuse to go back to Fort Myers to eat here again! It's s small restaurant, but very clean and you don't feel cramped. Theres a counter where you can order take out, or you can sit down and be served. We sat down and ordered a large order of sweet and sour chicken and a bowl of chicken fried rice, which was plenty for two people to share. We also had crab rangoons as an appetizer which were phenomenal. The service was quick, which is always a plus. The service wasn't overly friendly, but it wasn't rude or stand offish either. They did their job efficiently and that's what counts. The food tasted great and we were in and out in no time. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in the area! read more

Food was slightly better than your usual Chinese restaurant in a Publix plaza however their service is amazing. The inside is closed off for seating but they have a table outside with some chairs and actually brought 2 more out so we could all fit and eat together. Super friendly staff and they have a very good system with taking and sending out orders. read more

This was extremely bland food! quality of chicken needs to be upgraded and orange chicken needs to be spicier! Only veggie in fried rice was carrots no scrambled egg or peas In fried rice ! No flavor at all zero ! to vegetable Lo mein ! Dumplings were the only passable item! $45 for 2 people and that's ordering large sizes! No crunchy noodles or fortune cookies in the bag? Come ' On ! No fortune cookies or almond cookies? Hire a real Chinese cook that knows how to cook Szechuan! I ordered over $60 worth of food from Golden China the day after Christmas and it was the worst food I've ever had. All the food tasted old, stale and expired. I've ordered from this place many times and food is usually pretty good. I got home and after tasting the food I could tell it was old and expired. It tasted like old food they had saved before closing for Christmas. The wings looked like they had been cooked in old oil. I threw the food in the trash and made contact with the manger who told me to bring the old food back. So I went to my trash and bagged the old food, so I could return it to them. The next day, I got to the store and the manager spoke to me as if I was just trying to get free food despite the fact they sold me old spoiled food. She opened the bag of stale food (very unsanitary) and counted how many wings were in the bag. She also told me I ate some of the rice, so she'll give me a small. I did not eat much and it's hard to collect rice grains after they've been thrown in the trash. It was a bit tasteless and rude in my opinion. I will never eat at Golden China nor any other Chinese food place. read more

This place has been around a long time and always has had rave reviews from locals; I live in punta gorda and really only take out Chinese food, so it doesn't make sense to go that far. Our local place is closed for a month and my husband decided to take the trek. We ordered chicken teriyaki on a stick, steamed dumplings, honey chicken, wonton soup and house fried rice. Ok, the food...the chicken on a stick was tough and dry, and served in a soggy thin paper bag wrapped in a very thin plastic bag and did not present well, the rice was bland, hardly any vegetables, the steamed dumplings were ok, but not a lot of flavor in the meat or the side sauce, also they were very small, the honey chicken was fried in a carnival type of batter and some pieces so over done they were inedible, just poor quality, there were too many pieces for the size paper box they chose, so they put a few staples in the lid flaps, I thought that was odd and unsafe; and the honey sauce was meh; the crunchy noodles are the bland soda cracker style, so don't bother. There were no customers in the restaurant when the order was picked up a Thursday evening around 5 pm, and the young girl at the counter seemed confused by the situation of someone there to pick up their order. Not sure if this place was good once or people just don't know what good Chinese food is, OR, maybe it was an off night? Whatever the case, we will not be returning. read more

Great take out place. They are a few dishes (salt and pepper shrimp and egg foo young) that should be eaten at the restaurant, but most of the menu is not only real good, but travels real well. Even things like egg rolls or sweet and sour chicken are still crispy when I get home. Definitely one of Port Charlotte's hidden gems. read more
