Pricing is spectacular for what awaits you once you pass the cashier/hostess. I went with a large group around the holidays. I was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of items that awaited us. The salad station had a few exotic fruits that were a delight to taste? There were 4 stations with hot items, a dessert bar, ice cream, soft drinks station, and a teppanyaki style station with lots of fresh raw items and sauce to create the perfect on demand dish!! Not impressed. It may be other buffets up north that I've been to that have more and fresher offerings. I went at 11:30AM shortly after opening, and the sushi was already dry and stale. Orange chicken was kind of runny, and there wasn't much beef in the beef and broccoli. The salmon was super dry. I probably go to one of these spots once a year or so, and I'm good for the rest of the year. I may be spoiled since my last experience was at casino buffet. I won't be coming back to this place though. The lady who took my payments was super nice, and the staff is really quick at clearing your table of finished dishes, and they're super nice so there's that. The place is clean and the place was packed, but this is the only buffet I could find in the area, and Golden Corral's ratings were an immediate pass. Good luck if you try this place. read more

Not bad! This buffet is in the old Hometown Buffet location off of Palomar. The restaurant was been completely renovated from those days, and I think maybe even expanded from the original footprint of Hometown. It felt so much bigger. Cost on a weekend is about $24 a person. Not cheap, but not bad either. There was an automatic gratuity added to our bill that I didn't noticed until later. Food was ok...typical Chinese buffet. The buffet lines had many options. There is a Hibachi station where you can get your noodles with whatever you want in it. This was good, but needs more flavor. They were not so giving on the sauce they add to it in the cooking process. Restaurant was packed!!! But it is very clean and the remodel from what I remember back in the days, is very nice. It's a Chinese buffet, so set your expectations to that fact. It's not going to be fine dining, but if you want to feed a lot of people at once and you want to have some decent food this place is perfect. My family has been coming here for years even back when they were at their old location next door. We usually eat out as a big group so it's nice that they have a seperate area for larger tables. Food wise it's pretty average. Not amazing but also not bad. There's a good variety of dishes. We always enjoy to eat the fried crabs here. I came here with the lady and in-laws recommended on her previous experiences, which she mentioned that it was basically the same as our nearby favorite Chinese buffet- Elite buffet in Lemon Grove. After visiting, I disagreed- definitely a star less or more. The noticeable difference was this place has a Mongolian grill. So this was the main draw for me initially. It was a letdown since the items from the meats to noodles were very mediocre. The noodles literally looked like spaghetti but with a slightly different texture. Most things across the board were on the bland side. But the place does get pretty crowded, mainly because of the value. All you can eat is always appealing, but for me it's gotta be worthy. As it is, overall after the pandemic, buffets are sorta far and few between from here to Las Vegas. So when you do find a quality one as we have close to home, I'm thinking maybe you should just stick with that. I would probably come back, but for sure not go out of my way to come here. read more

It's hard to find a good buffet place these days but overall Buffet House satisfies that craving. The buffet is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and American food in a casual dining environment. There is a hot food section with many entree choices, a salad bar, a dessert bar, a sushi section, a fruit section, soup station, and a teppanyaki station. The food was fresh and being replenished regularly. The service was good. They were great about clearing out plates from the table. Went to Buffet House for lunch this afternoon because I was in the area with my mom and she wanted to go. She had been here before and said she liked it. It was my first time here. Prices were reasonable - about $18 for an adult lunch, seniors are $2 off. The restaurant was very busy, but had plenty of tables and booths available. It also appeared very clean. I actually wasn't very hungry at the time, but I did have a cup of soup, as well as a plate with a few items. While it wasn't amazing, it was decent buffet food, with plenty of options. Perhaps if I had tried more items, I would have found something I liked, but what I had was okay. They also had a dessert bar with small pastry bites, cookies, and soft serve. My absolute fave value buffet! - decent variety - decent sashimi options - drinks are included in the price - they have hibachi - overall decent menu items - staff quickly picks up the plate You couldn't beat getting an appetizer, an entrée, refillable drink, and sweets all for the one meal price. Have passed by the restaurant numerous times for many years but only tried it a week ago. We wanted a booth, which had recently been vacated, & a lady came by & cleaned it up right away. The restaurant was very clean & there was plenty of fresh food to choose from. I went straight for the hibachi station. Was surprised they offered shrimp as a protein & loaded up on it along with my favorite veggies, sauces & heat. Skimped on the noodles so I could leave room to try other things. Next I went for the sushi. There was a wide selection of the common types & fancier types. I was surprised to see a Japanese seafood side by the ginger & wasabi which I've only seen at the 100's Seafood Buffet. I also tried a lot of their veggie selections & was glad to see a fried bean sprout dish I really like. Not going to lie, I had 2 full plates of food. Employees were attentive & came by frequently to clear the table of finished plates during our entire stay throughout the restaurant. Afterwards I did partake in 2 servings of the choc & vanilla ice cream, sesame balls & fresh fruit. The longer we were there, the more crowded it became, obviously enjoyed by many other people. My friend & I enjoyed the food & the ambiance so we will be back. Our go to is another buffet in Kearny Mesa but this place is way closer to eat at locally so I already recommended it to other friends as well. One of the better Asian buffets in the area! Came here with a party of 12 and they were so great in accommodating our large party so fast. Would come back here with family again! When we were there, they were constantly refilling the pans with freshly made items so nothing was ever empty and we were able to try a little bit of everything. My family and I have frequent diner piles here at Buffet House. We've been fans of this buffet ever since they were in their old location, which isn't too far from their present location. Buffet House should be a foodie destination not because it's the best buffet around, but for value for your money, I honestly believe you won't be disappointed. The wait staff are hard working young folks, who deserve tips if you're feeling generous, and the staff where you pay before you start gluttony are friendly and personable. My family and I were celebrating our matriarch's birthday, so we reserved a table for 13 inside their large party room. I made sure to fast for more than 20 hours before I started my devour fest because like I said, we've been here many times and know how much food they serve. Buffet House has an impressive Hibachi Grill where you select vegetables, proteins, and noodles and give what you choose to an employee who will grill the food and make it tasty. Make sure to tip them. The majority of their food choices are Chinese, but they also have grilled meats, sushi, American food, an impressive salad bar, soups, desserts, and a self serve soft serve ice cream machine. With your buffet price, their drink station has Pepsi products and there are agua frescas. I'm a fan of this buffet because of their unlimited drinks and quality selection. My go to food items here at Buffet House are the following: orange chicken, all the items on their Hibachi grill station, stuffed mushrooms, baked scallop, lo mein, fried rice, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, and their chicken wings. Their food is fresh, hot, and is prepared well. The diligent staff quickly replaces serving dishes once an item gets low. I really enjoy their food that I'll usually eat 4 to 5 plates. They have many food choices in order to do that. Buffet House is a must visit destination to celebrate milestones like my Mom's birthday. My kids asked for a buffet so I found the Buffet House and took them there. It was a weekday and busy, but we found somewhere to sit pretty quickly (you seat yourself). The 3 of us cost around $55 for lunch. At first, it didn't seem like tables and plates were being cleared quickly enough, but as we sat there, plates were cleared quickly. I observed that it took the restaurant staff some time to clear tables. The food was okay and as soon as something was running low, it was replenished. There was a good variety of food, but nothing spectacular. I did like the fact that there was the buffet foods, sushi, hibachi, desert, and drinks. Did I mention the restaurant was crowded? I kept bumping in to people because it was really crowded. I probably wouldn't visit again. The food was okay, just not as good as I would have hoped. Best Asian buffet that I have been to. Very affordable and all you can eat. Lots of different options. My parents favorites they come at least once a month. Lots of things to eat. Drinks are free with entrance fee. Typical Asian food with other items. They have a make your own stir fry noodles, sushi, and ice cream machine. Not a fan of buffets but this one is one of favorites in San Diego. You serve yourself. This spot is always busy but there's always lots parking. My parents love this spot. It is ALWAYS clean, well organized and the customer service from the staff (which is an IMPORTANT thing to me that will make or break my decision to revisit anywhere) is OUTSTANDING! My family arrive at around 5:30PM and expected a long wait time since it was the start of most restaurants' dinner rush. However, the wait time was fairly short! Especially since they only had one cashier handling the customers entering the buffet. I think the only criticism I would say for service is that the lady working the cashier was helping my dad pay for our table of 4. He showed her a valid military ID and her response was "I know that is fake but I'll still put the discount in." I understood this as a joke however I can understand in my dad's point of view how that can be offensive. I just feel like it was a poorly delivered and timed joke as my dad served in the military for 24+ years. While eating, they were very quick to pick up our dirty dishes after we finished our rounds of food. Food was pretty worth the price you're paying for (total: about 99 for 4 people 1 with military discount). Also, they don't accept military discounts if you're a dependent. However, I wish there was more selection/variety of food. If you're expecting Chinese-American staples like fried rice, chow mein, and broccoli beef, this buffet has a lot of that. Another thing I would like to note is that the sashimi my sister and dad got from the sushi station was frozen and they were not able to enjoy eating it. The hibachi station was a stand out as well! We also wished that the beef was cut into smaller pieces for easier eating. We also would've liked to see more fruit options since there were only pineapple and grapes. Something my sister really enjoyed was the horchata drink as well as the Jamaica drink. Ambiance was very nice. Normal noise level for a buffet. I believe that the strengths for this buffet is that it's very clean and the price is fair for the quality. As well as how drinks were included! Best buffet for their prices and their food selection, I know they are not the top quality food item, but they got varieties, you can pretty much do the traditional Chinese buffet without any special gimmicks like lobsters crawfishes etc, but people will still come and enjoy your stuffs for the right price, I mean even Hometown Buffet charged extra for drinks, this place got everything included for an affordable price. Now you can't beat that, and as long as your food is cleaned, your service was decent, the customers will keep coming, I know because my grandpa love this place over the other Chinese buffets read more
