I came here with the lady and in-laws recommended on her previous experiences, which she mentioned that it was basically the same as our nearby favorite Chinese buffet- Elite buffet in Lemon Grove. After visiting, I disagreed- definitely a star less or more. The noticeable difference was this place has a Mongolian grill. So this was the main draw for me initially. It was a letdown since the items from the meats to noodles were very mediocre. The noodles literally looked like spaghetti but with a slightly different texture. Most things across the board were on the bland side. But the place does get pretty crowded, mainly because of the value. All you can eat is always appealing, but for me it's gotta be worthy. As it is, overall after the pandemic, buffets are sorta far and few between from here to Las Vegas. So when you do find a quality one as we have close to home, I'm thinking maybe you should just stick with that. I would probably come back, but for sure not go out of my way to come here.

One of the best options for cheap buffet food! $17 for adults during weekday lunch which is absolutely worth it. I am always so excited to come here because I know it will be delicious and affordable. There are tons of seating, and lots of options. Standard buffet options (noodles, rice, cheese rangoons), hibachi, soup, sushi (although a bit questionable fish) and some really solid protein options! Can't wait to come back

Buffet House in Chula Vista is a legit spot to go to for inexpensive Chinese buffet food! They offer a wide variety of food and drink is included in the price! The employees work hard keeping the food area clean and stocked up. They are also very quick to turn a table around for the next group to be seated. Located in a shopping center so parking is easy! If in the south bay and looking for cheap eats yet large variety, Buffet House is the spot to go to!

It's hard to find a good buffet place these days but overall Buffet House satisfies that craving. The buffet is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and American food in a casual dining environment. There is a hot food section with many entree choices, a salad bar, a dessert bar, a sushi section, a fruit section, soup station, and a teppanyaki station. The food was fresh and being replenished regularly. The service was good. They were great about clearing out plates from the table. What's unique about this place is that unlimited drinks are included with your meal price. Only issue was the carbonation ratio was off at the soda station so many of the drinks were flat.

Went to Buffet House for lunch this afternoon because I was in the area with my mom and she wanted to go. She had been here before and said she liked it. It was my first time here. Prices were reasonable - about $18 for an adult lunch, seniors are $2 off. The restaurant was very busy, but had plenty of tables and booths available. It also appeared very clean. I actually wasn't very hungry at the time, but I did have a cup of soup, as well as a plate with a few items. While it wasn't amazing, it was decent buffet food, with plenty of options. Perhaps if I had tried more items, I would have found something I liked, but what I had was okay. They also had a dessert bar with small pastry bites, cookies, and soft serve. Fountain drinks (including Horchata and Jamaica) are also included. Overall, average buffet food - not bad, but I have had better Asian food in the area.

One of the many hidden gems of Chula Vista. This place is very reminisce of your typical Asian buffet but it goes one step above. Not only do they offer Chinese food, a full sushi bar, a teppenyaki station and countless food items, they have ample dining area and such FRESH food. The flow is great as the food is centered between 3 dining areas. The cost per person is extremely affordable where, as of 07/27/25, a weekday (M-R) lunch is $18.95, Weekday dinner and weekend lunch/dinner is $23.95 per person.

My family and I have frequent diner piles here at Buffet House. We've been fans of this buffet ever since they were in their old location, which isn't too far from their present location. Buffet House should be a foodie destination not because it's the best buffet around, but for value for your money, I honestly believe you won't be disappointed. A strong positive for me is that they're military friendly offering a military discount with ID and they also offer senior citizen discounts. Buffet House offers an extensive selection of food options and I'm a fan of their non alcohol drink selections that come with a reasonable less than $24 price tag. I believe I've written a review of Buffet House when they were at their old location, but since my review can no longer be found on their Yelp page, I've got to let my fellow Yelpers know that this restaurant needs to be experienced. The restaurant is located in Chula Vista utilizing the 5 South freeway, exiting off of Palomar Street, and heading east. Buffet House can be found within the outdoor strip mall called the Palomar Retail Center. It is across the street from Food 4 Less, Ross, dd's Discount, and Dairy Queen. Buffet House is next to CA. Billiards, Original Dresses and Brides, FAJAS, and Mariscos La Perla Negra. Buffet House is a popular buffet, so if you visit during peak dining hours, expect to wait to be seated. You can make reservations for large parties, so call in advance. There are plenty of parking spaces inside their private lot. Inside the restaurant is a large dining space that have wooden tables and cushioned chairs. There are booth seating and our large family usually eats inside their party rooms, which are decorated with flowers on their wall panels. Their flooring is distressed laminate, there are faux brick walls, decorative lighting fixtures, and framed artwork and hung wall decor throughout. The wait staff are hard working young folks, who deserve tips if you're feeling generous, and the staff where you pay before you start gluttony are friendly and personable. My family and I were celebrating our matriarch's birthday, so we reserved a table for 13 inside their large party room. I made sure to fast for more than 20 hours before I started my devour fest because like I said, we've been here many times and know how much food they serve. Buffet House has an impressive Hibachi Grill where you select vegetables, proteins, and noodles and give what you choose to an employee who will grill the food and make it tasty. Make sure to tip them. The majority of their food choices are Chinese, but they also have grilled meats, sushi, American food, an impressive salad bar, soups, desserts, and a self serve soft serve ice cream machine. With your buffet price, their drink station has Pepsi products and there are agua frescas. I'm a fan of this buffet because of their unlimited drinks and quality selection. My go to food items here at Buffet House are the following: orange chicken, all the items on their Hibachi grill station, stuffed mushrooms, baked scallop, lo mein, fried rice, fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, and their chicken wings. Their food is fresh, hot, and is prepared well. The diligent staff quickly replaces serving dishes once an item gets low. I really enjoy their food that I'll usually eat 4 to 5 plates. They have many food choices in order to do that. Buffet House is a must visit destination to celebrate milestones like my Mom's birthday. We spent quality family time enjoying quality food for a fair and reasonable price.

One of the biggest highlights for us was the lobster, which is available on Thursdays only. They also had chilled snow crab legs and cold lobster claws, which was a nice surprise and definitely made the buffet feel like a great value for the price. Aside from the seafood, they had a huge selection of the usual buffet favorites, including sushi, shrimp, different hot dishes, sides, desserts, and so many other choices that it would be impossible to list everything. There was definitely something for everyone, and we had no problem finding plenty of things we enjoyed. The food selection was good, there were plenty of seafood options, and we felt like we definitely got our money's worth. If you're a seafood lover, I would recommend checking them out on a Thursday so you can take advantage of the lobster. Overall, we had a really enjoyable experience. For the price, variety, and amount of seafood offered, we would definitely come back and eat here again!

Roast duck was overcooked with a bad acrid smell, and it didn't have that oily crispy layer that you normally would get when it is fresh. I'm guessing that they made all the food early in preparation for opening, but all of food tasted like it sat out for hours. The things that turned out fine, were the oysters, sushi and sashimi, and the prime rib that turned out to be rare.

We were celebrating my mother's birthday and arrived around 2:29 PM. The restaurant was busy with many senior customers, the buffet offered a wide variety of food, and it seemed like it would be a wonderful afternoon. Unfortunately, our experience took a very upsetting turn. While we were eating, a manager or owner approached our table and, in a loud voice, accused my elderly mother of serving herself lemonade from the beverage machine without paying. My mother calmly explained that she had only filled her cup with water and squeezed fresh lemon slices into it. Instead of quietly resolving the misunderstanding, the manager brought over cups containing lemonade and continued insisting that my mother had taken lemonade from the machine. This created an embarrassing scene in front of our entire table and nearby guests. I respectfully asked if we could step aside and discuss the matter privately, explaining that we were not trying to take anything without paying. I also mentioned that my parents are longtime customers and that this was my first visit. Unfortunately, the conversation remained confrontational, and I left feeling that the situation could have been handled with much more professionalism and compassion. The experience was especially difficult because my parents are elderly. My 87-year-old father became extremely distressed, and what should have been a joyful birthday celebration for my mother turned into an uncomfortable and embarrassing experience for everyone at our table. The buffet offers plenty of food choices, but after being publicly confronted and embarrassed, it's hard to enjoy a meal. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, especially senior citizens. If there is ever a concern, it should be addressed discreetly and professionally rather than through a public accusation. I sincerely hope management reflects on how situations like this are handled in the future so that no other family has to experience what ours did.

He asked if we had reservations, we did not then he told us to wait outside to be called on, there were tons of empty clean tables, but we didn't argue. As soon as we stepped outside, before I could sit down we got called right back in by the other lady to come inside. Okay. Weird quick game of musical chairs lol. She explained to us how it goes. Drinks on this side of the room. Food on that side. Check. First plate: garlic fried rice (Sinangag), fried eggs, longoniza, Filipino spaghetti, lechon, and a bowl of arroz caldo. Also grabbed two cups, one for water the other for what the waitress said was mango ice tea (spoiler alert: no mangoes were hurt in the process of making this ice tea). Second plate: watermelon and pineapple slices, menudo, kare kare, ube pancake. First the sinangag tasted like it's been left out too long even though it was just brought out. Lots of hard pieces of rice. I decided to not finish it. Next, the fried eggs and longaniza. Fried eggs felt too rubbery for maybe just me. And the longaniza didn't taste anything like longaniza. No spices no garlic. Just a basic sweet hot dog. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just a hot dog. I can say the Filipino spaghetti did taste somewhat like actual Filipino spaghetti, sweet. But not too sweet but also didn't see any hot dogs in there! Now the lechon. Tasted exactly like fried pork. That has zero spices and kinda been out for a while. The arroz caldo had some shreds of chicken I think but I had to fetch for it in the pot. Unfortunately there's no boiled eggs to add but you can add everything else to it like the fried garlic, spring onions lemon etc. Now the drinks. What's up with the non mango mango iced tea? It just tasted like iced tea and if I was told that id be okay. But I love mango drinks and was looking forward to it. The water is the only thing I could say I wasn't disappointed with and only if I didn't have to get it myself I guess would be the only downside lol. I did try to get a second plate. Consisted of some watermelon slices and pineapple slices, menudo and kare kare with white rice. The kare kare and menudo did look like what they were called and that is about it in comparison to what I've had in the past. The menudo had no tomato paste taste to it and was rather bland and the kare kare was also bland. Their kare kare sauce was very watery, missing the thick savory peanut buttery taste. And unfortunately, it was the watermelon slices that made me quit and lose my appetite. It had a weird rotten taste to it. I almost had to vomit. First I thought it was soaked in something maybe vinegar, or I dunno. But I just could not eat anything else. I hope today was just an off day and the food is better. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever come back or even recommend my friend or family to come eat here.

Another employee then stepped in to back him up, making the interaction feel even more uncomfortable. I completely understand how the restaurant business works. I've been around the industry long enough to know that kitchens often stop taking orders before closing or that staff are trying to finish cleaning at the end of the night. If they had simply said, "We're sorry, but our kitchen is already closed," or even, "We can still serve you, but we're finishing up for the night," we would have completely understood. There was no reason to speak to us disrespectfully. What made this experience frustrating is that we never came in with an attitude or demanded special treatment. We were polite from the moment we walked through the door. We simply asked a reasonable question based on the restaurant's posted business hours, and instead of receiving a courteous explanation, we were met with unnecessary hostility. Customer service is just as important as the food. A welcoming attitude can make guests want to return, while a rude interaction can overshadow everything else. Unfortunately, this experience left such a negative impression that I won't be returning. I also would not feel comfortable bringing my family or recommending this restaurant to friends because everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect. I hope management takes this review as constructive feedback and reminds their staff that even when it's close to closing time, a little kindness and professionalism go a long way.
