Weekend dinner buffet is $23.99 but the quality of food is worse than some of the $16.99 lunch buffets in the area. There's hardly any quality seafood (they have the cheap fried crabs and some average shrimp dishes, that's it), tons of carb heavy filler food and most of the sashimi was frozen solid. The only good thing is, the drinks are included and besides your average Coca Cola products, you have all you can drink horchata and Jamaica. Service was non existence, everything was DIY. You pay for the food upfront before you enter, you seat yourself, fetch your own drinks, and the only time you'll see any staff interact with you was when they take your food away. I had my baby with me and none of the staff would fetch me a high chair. It's OK it's so big and so many people go to this place you feel like cattle at a ranch coming up to the feed stall. There's two separate areas to get beverages so it makes it easy. I mean it's OK. It's not the best it's more about quantity instead of quality sometimes but if you go there, just remember it it's very busy. The place is nice is clean. I attended a funeral reception at Buffet House this afternoon. I was never interested in the restaurant and its location. Service and variety of food choices were good. Food may have not been top-tasting, but I couldn't complain as food was actually good. And, for $17 lunch buffet (plus drinks), there is definitely not much to complain about. There were operable drink stations posted at different areas of restaurant, utensil containers were full, overall appearance of restaurant was good. I may be going back to Buffet House again, sometime later ;) ADDITIONAL INFO: I've returned to Buffet House for another funeral reception today 11/22/24. The food tasted MUCH BETTER this round. Pretty good Chinese buffet. I'd make the drive for me although it was a bit out of the way. You pay then seat yourself. The price comes with a drink. There was a decent amount of varieties along with a Mongolian grill. Some of the foods were out since there was quite a bit of people but they did eventually refilled the trays. Once I saw what I had been craving for; mackerel sashimi and hot and sour soup, it stole my heart and I told my husband I had to come with him next time. Pretty solid, primarily Asian buffet food in West Chula Vista, near the Palomar Transit Station. Has a cold/sushi and sashimi area, mongolian bbq area, and varieties of fried shrimp and fish. Has a smaller dessert area with a soft serve machine. Serves Pepsi and coffee. They offer military and senior discounts, with varying prices for lunch and dinner, weekday and weekend meals. This place can sit a very large party of people as they have a room with a ton of tables to accommodate larger groups in addition to the main buffet area that accommodates smaller groups. First time here last Sunday. Food, customer service, and place is great. Once we got inside, ambiance was great. I gave 3 stars just because the lines seemed unorganized. They should have two separate lines, one for walk ins and one for people who had reservations. I had 15 people with me with reservations,got there on time, and since the line was all the way outside, I had my family walk Inside the cashier so I can pay for everybody. Some people are just dumb and rude and were verbally telling my elderly family that we were cutting lines. Very clean and great prices especially in this day and age! There's a good variety of food available and lots of seating. You pay, seat yourself, and get your own drinks. This place definitely gets busy on the weekends. Tried to come around 6pm on a Saturday and the line was out the door, but attempted again around 5pm the next weekend and got seated fairly quick. Went here for a party a short while ago. We were a large group, maybe about 60+ people and we were seated at the dining area just to the side of the main floor. They easily accommodated our large group. I like the remodeled, newer look. There was a lot of selections choose from, the food was constantly being refilled and nothing seemed to sit out for too long. The food itself is your typical Chinese/mixed Asian buffet menu and the quality was good. Drinks are also self serve here. This place changed places and added some new features. Their grill is amazing and a good addition. However, prices went up to almost $22 for dinner including drink, which still is reasonable. This place is a hidden gem. I don't often go to Asian buffets because either the line is too long, or I expect the food to be lackluster. That wasn't the case at Buffet House. When we first arrived, we saw a line out the door. Part of me wanted to find another restaurant already, but I decided to wait it out. Surprisingly they were very efficient with moving the line. The buffet isn't as big as some other buffets (no crab legs, etc), but there is just enough to satisfy everyone. Some items were really good, and others were just okay. Either way, it was good enough overall!! The price is great too! I also appreciate the cleanliness of the restaurant and also the restrooms. Overall: One of the NICEST looking buffet I've ever seen/ been to. We got there at 10:30 am (didn't know that they change their times, we should have listened to Google) and waited for half an hour. 10 minutes before it opened (on a Thursday morning) there was a LINE! Never seen a line for a buffet before. The food was good (for buffet standards). I like that the sushi is small so you can get more and don't feel like wasting the food. Careful for the Sashimi, mine was still icy on the inside. Staff was great and collected our plates so fast after we finished. There was a lot of room, but I can see that if there is more of a rush, it would be hard. The Mongolian Grill was nice addition. I've been wanting to go to this buffet when I saw it pop up on Yelp! Luckily I was working in the area and got to try it out. Quality of the food is awesome for the price and I will definitely come back! I didn't get to try the Mongolian noodle bar but will do that next time. I had went to this buffet restaurant with my husband yesterday for our first meal on New Year's Day. They changed address/suites but they still had the same abundant parking lot. The cashiers were not the friendliest but the bus ladies were quick and nice. Food was ok. Soups were bland and tasted off. Crabs and mussels tasted slightly dirty but the salmon and sashimi were good along with the fried wontons. Didn't touch the sushi rolls. Price was $22 for during a holiday or on a Sunday. We had planned to go to a all you can eat Chinese buffet in national City, I had tried calling because we were throwing my 18 year old grandson a birthday party but nobody answered the phone and there was no recording of anything indicating that they were closed for safety issues. So we found this little spot called BUFFET HOUSE in Chula Vista. That day my grandson just wanted to go eat Chinese food for his birthday and I really wanted it to be a special day for him. When we walked in the service was excellent they were very nice and it was clean not only that they stated that we could bring our cake in and our balloons. And the food OMG 10 out of 10. Not only was my grandson happy I was extremely happy to make his dream come true. ( My daughter which is my grandkids mother was murdered so I try to make their birthdays and holidays very special, because I know their mama was very special and she loved her kids) He had all his friends and family there with him. I mean we had planned this for over 2 weeks. And then the cashier came up to us and asked us how did we like our first time there, because I had explained to her what had happened. And I stated to her not only did my family and friends love it but I did as well and we will be coming back and that is going to be our number one place for all you can eat buffet I offered my grandson other places to go eat but nope he wanted Chinese food!!! And I'm really glad I found this spot. They had all kinds of sushi lots and lots of different foods and then they even had this section where you could pick out your meat and vegetables or seafood with your noodles and they cook it for you right there. And the price was very good you pay one price and that includes a drink. The other place we were going to was more $$$$ not only did you have to pay for your buffet you also had to pay for your drink at the other place which was $5 per person for a drink. This place is a local gem! When it comes to interior design, the layout is very easy to navigate through, and their furnishing is quite modern. This place has gained so much popularity in the past year with their endless selection of seafood, Mongolian noodles, and many protein heavy dishes. I hit the gym often and their Mushroom Chicken is a perfect post-workout meal. I try to stay away from fried foods but their Coconut Shrimp is also delicious. After a "scout out" visit to Buffet House a month ago, our party of 50+ was very well taken care during the occasion this week 3/4/25. The food selections were great, and everyone had their fill. Ms. Mae (supervisor) cordoned off a big section for us, where we were all able to mingle and enjoy each other's company, despite the circumstances. The staff were extremely friendly and hard working, keeping our section clean throughout. I highly recommend Buffet House for large gatherings, but also for regular family enjoyment. This is definitely one of San Diego's cleanest and most organized Asian buffets. I've been here a handful of times and they serve many, many traditional buffet dishes, such as coconut shrimp, soft shell crabs, fried rice, and cooked veggies, as well as a salad bar, soup station, sushi, and even a hibachi grill where they cook in front of you. They have a self-serve drink station and dessert, like ice cream. Typical Asian buffet flavors and quality. Bathrooms are relatively much cleaner than the other Asian buffets around town.
