My friend and me with a BAB worker!
    Lyle M.

I finally got my booty into a Build-A-Bear, and boy, it was good times! Yes, I'm nearly 23 years old, and yes, my best friend who came with me is almost 29, but we had a blast! Basically, Build-A-Bear (BAB) is a great place for kids and adults alike to celebrate their childhood. So, as some of you may know, I have an "unhealthy" obsession with Hello Kitty- well, guess what, all you HK fans?! You can stuff your own Hello Kitty plushie, as well as dress her up in adorable HK clothes (pyjamas, shirts, skirts, slippers...even panties)! Of course, there are tonnes of other animals: dogs, kitties, elephants, frogs, bunnies...even koalas! I chose the latter to be made for my dear friend who came with me, since her name rhymes with "koala"! :D (Of course, my friend made me a Hello Kitty plushie!) There are tonnes of accessories to choose from to dress your plushie- jeans, shorts, skirts, skorts (half-shorts, half-skirt), shirts, bathing suits, slippers, socks, military costumes, ballerina tutus, all sorts of sandals (even Crocs!) and shoes, purses, rollerskates/ice skates, headbands, masks, and a multitude of limited time/seasonal things. So what happens when you go? There are bins of "un-stuffed" soft fuzzy plushies that you choose from. Once you've chosen your new friend, you go to the "fluff machine," where a BAB worker will stuff your buddy to your preferred firmness. Then, before they sew the plush up, you pick a small, soft heart for your stuffed animal out of a basket...and follow the BAB worker's directions! ;) Then, they speedily lace up your new snuggly friend, and send you to the "fluffing table," where you use air vents/brushes to clean off any leftover fluff. Next, you go over to their computer lab, where you name your stuffy and print out their birth certificate! After that, you can peruse the rest of the store for their outfit and other accessories. When you're about to leave, you pay for your new bud (there's a basic fee + the cost of any item you buy to dress them up), a BAB worker puts them in their own little house-shaped cardboard box, and you're good to go! The employees were very nice, even stopping to pose for photos. They seemed to really enjoy their job and even though the lady who stuffed our "bears" was really sleepy, she never stopped smiling. It made our experience that much more enjoyable. One downfall is the price- it's not cheap, that's for sure. One stuffed animal can range from ~40-50$ (and maybe more if you buy lots of outfits + accessories). If it's a once in awhile sort of outing, though, it's worth it if you go with a friend(s)! Also, they host parties at BAB. Check out the website listed here for different caterers around the mall that work with BAB for parties. I think there are reduced prices for parties at BAB, as well. Also, they have scheduled events and other fun stuff, to be found at the BAB website. :) So yep, that about says it all: Good times if you have a little chunk o' change saved up and a good buddy to go with you. Definitely a more "kid friendly" place to spend a half-hour, but adults are welcome, too! Plus, you can go shopping for your OWN outfits afterwards (since it's located in the mall)!

    A little girls' heaven

My girls love a trip here. I think if I imagine it through their eyes I can definitely see the magic in it. The employees at this location are great with the kids and really seem to enjoy their job. Yes it's pricey, but it's an experience not just a bear/dog/elephant. We attended a birthday party here last weekend and I thought it was well done. All of the little girls got to make an animal and were sent home with a snack box. They played games throughout the store. My only thing was there is really no where for the parents to sit or be. I understand though they are limited on space. Our hostess was a lot of fun. The girls liked her and she had lots of energy. They sang happy birthday and somehow she kept all of the little girls focused, together and on task. I think it was a great alternative to the other traditional birthday party choices. All of the girls had fun and were excited about it.

Small and no selection. Don't bother coming here for anything other than the basic animals.

great selection of virgin comics, hot wheels and rare toys…read more super friendly staff Clean and awesome store! Fun environment

I like this place, the gentleman who seems to be the owner proprietor was very friendly. This place…read moreseems to have a bunch of things from video games to pop figures as well as Hot Wheels cars action figures and trading cards overall a great selection of items for The Collector , though I did not like the prices on several items there are a few items I thought of purchasing however after researching they were just overpriced for what they were . I think this is the problem with the whole collector industry a lot of people value their items for way more than their worth and some people as myself are just trying to collect what they like not trying to make a book . No offense to Toy Madness as It Seems he is genuinely a collector who seems to want to sell most of his collection . I will make a return visit and maybe see if there is any negotiation on some items and if not I'll take my losses and find it somewhere else. The prices on another note were weirdly high, some items were 150% overpriced according to the market, and the rest of the staff seem to act like you weren't even there which sometimes fine but when you're standing at a particular case for longer than 30 seconds waiting for someone to answer and they're all standing at the front counter staring in the space it kind of makes you think as small as this place is why they could not see people waiting or looking for someone. Now this was not my personal experience because I was simply browsing however several people were looking for someone to open cases for them and seeing frustrated people walk out before even being helped. Again if you read this whole review thank you kindly I am using Google to speak as it helps relieve my carpal tunnel symptoms maybe you can try it if it works for you Google does not endorse this ad..

I'm surprised there is not a review for this place! It's definitely Bakersfield's go-to Pop store…read moreand definitely has some of THE best if not THE best overall selection I have seen. While I've been to other Pop stores with bigger inventory, this place has the best selection I've seen... seriously! The owner, Jim, gets the best Common Pops and even rarer Chases and other limited editions. He also even gets the newest Pops and re-stocks immediately! Not only is he friendly and kind, he is knowledgeable and his prices are definitely fair. He also sells other toys and collectibles and even sells Pop protectors to protect your investment. I also like the fact that he has a BOOB section (it's not what you think, LOL) which contains Pops that have some kind of defect on the box which lowers the price. At least he's being fair and lowers the price! Pretty cool!!! I seriously feel like a kid in a candy store here as I a serious Pop collector/enthusiast. It's always fun coming here and I always end up picking up at least one Pop! Also, be wary of their hours as I believe they open after 5 PM on weekdays and open in the mornings on the weekends. Definitely go support this local store! It's definitely awesome and worth checking out--- especially if you're a Pop nut like me!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Makes me wanting to keep going back for more to see what he has in stock. He also always has trade ins all the time, some small but others huge ones and posts it on the instagram account. I always keep on eye out for that because most of the time when I'm looking for a rare pop he'll have em on one of those posts. He even allows holds on some funko pops if theres not too many on the floor which is cool. Really nice cool guy to talk too as well, I like how he's very knowledgeable on funko pops. Any question about any type of pop just ask him he'll know.
