We just went to a birthday party here. My kids were told they had $14 to outfit their bears. The problem was that my child wanted an outfit that was $15. I thought I could just pay the $1 difference, NO! They would not do that. So we had to buy a whole separate outfit. My qualm is with their inability to allow me to use the allocated party dollars and pay the difference. It made the experience feel cheap and manipulative. read more

I've been to a couple of Build-a-Bear workshops & this is by far THE BEST!! my niece had such an amazing time, everything is touch-screen which I've yet to see elsewhere & the staff is so friendly & helpful. Today I went into Build-A-Bear with my eight year old sister for her birthday. I had a great time with her, and everything was very smooth and organized. She loved every second, and the staff were very helpful and energetic. They have over 20 bears to choose from with a good amount of outfits and accessories. I haven't been since I was her age and I was having a blast helping her make her bear. The staff member who helped us, Marleen, was so nice and she seemed like she really loved her job. She asked my sister how her birthday went and it was very genuine and she made the experience that much better. Plus, my little sister loved her. She made her a birthday badge and even suggested for us to go to the Disney store for a birthday crown and pin! Overall we had a great time. Recently one of my son's Bears (from another store) ripped his ear and we came here and they stitched him right up even though we didn't buy the Bear here. They just earned a customer for life! If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Austin the manager at this build a bear is beyond awesome. I was in search of the limited edition Grinch and he put it on hold for me as I was traveling from 2hours away. 30mins into my trip I realized I had forgotten my wallet out of excitement to get my last minute Christmas gifts. I tried to contact all family members and friends to see if anyone could go pick them up , with no luck I called him (Austin) back and explained my situation and asked if there was any possibly way I could pick up the following morning exactly when the store opened. Which Austin agreed to hold till the following morning. I was there at 10am sharp and was able to get my gifts which he helped me with everything while I was in the store. He is definitely holding up to his managers position title and I would highly recommend this location to anyone. I would like to rate Austin's work ethics with 10+ stars as I am a business owner myself and he is an awesome asset to have working at this build a bear. Happy Holidays! We went today for their pay your age promotion. There were hundreds and hundreds of people that showed up. I think the Employees handled the mass crowd and hectic situation perfectly. We waited 8 1/2 hours in line with a couple hundred people ahead of us. Build a bear employees brought out coloring papers and crayons For the kids to entertain themselves. Once we were inside they treated us with respect and kindness even though they had just seen 200 people before us. read more

As a rookie bear builder, I do not know a thing or two about making animals, but as the BFF of a six year old, I learned a thing or three about where stuffed animals come from. A quick back story on what was so important about these particular furry friends: Once upon a time there was a girl named Karey R. She considered herself a bit of a loner... she thought of herself as a one woman wolf pack. But when Karey R. and Mary C. met, Karey knew Mary was one of her own. And so, her wolf pack, it grew by one. Hahaha, ok not really, but the Hangover is where it all started, so don't get me all confused with that Team Jacob nonsense (I am CLEARLY Team Edward)... Anyway, the wolf pack needed mascots and Build-A-Bear had teamed up with the WWF (no not wrestlers, the World Wildlife Fund) and happen to have the wolves for the job. Okay, back to the future. So, Karey R.'s mini-me showed me the ropes. After you pick out your animal, you meet up with a master stuffer. Ella skillfully hugged the wolf to make sure she was perfectly huggable and didn't require further stuffing. She then followed an entire ritual of which I only remember pieces: rubbing the wolf on her belly so she's never hungry, rubbing the wolf on her head so she's smart, kissing her so... her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard? Oh wait wait, I think she kissed a little stuffed animal heart which was then placed inside the wolf before she was all sewn up... and it probably had nothing to do with milkshakes. We then took her to the shower area where Ella scrubbed her and blow dried her fur. If this wasn't the cutest thing ever, then I don't know what is. But of course after all this, she was still wearing her birthday suit, so then came a girl's favorite part, clothes shopping! I won't go into the many discussions over the outfit choices, but both of the wolves ended up with bikinis- best decision ever -and after the birth certificates were made Ella took them to the "dressing room" where our master stuffer helped cut tags and put on clothes like a pro. When all was said and done, Ella, the most generous little six year old ever, yelled "Surprise, she's for you!" and presented me with Bella, my very own wolf... yes her name is Bella... and Karey's is Alice... I know what you're thinking. And so, Bella and Alice lived happily ever after, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas looking for strippers and cocaine. read more

This place is overpriced and the last couple times we have issues with holes in our stuffed animals shortly after bringing them home. Each time we go I feel like they take something away. They now charge for boxes. Today they didn't do the heart ceremony, which is what I love to watch my girls do the most. I am not in a hurry to return. read more

Was excited to go to build a bear for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend! I was excited to go because I haven't been there in years and it was my boyfriends first time ever going. The line to get inside wasn't too bad but once we got inside I was very underwhelmed. We had tried going before but they didn't have the bear we wanted and we needed up finding it on this day. When it got to stuffing the bear the employee who assisted us kinda had a bad attitude. She had short hair and glasses I believe. She wasn't very welcoming and we both felt like she got upset when we said no to spending money on a sound, spending money on a scent, and spending money on a beating heart for the bear. We just wanted a regular bear and none of this extra stuff but she came off as very rude because we didn't want to add on these things to to the bear. Once we got done with her we went on to clothing options. I was sad because we wanted it to be a boy bear and they hardly had anything we were looking for! We found a nice sweater for the bear but no pants or shorts anywhere in sight. We asked someone and she said they wouldn't get anything for another two weeks! We ended up making it a girl bear and got some cute pj's for it! The lady at the register was nice but the stuffing girl ruined the experience for my boyfriend and I felt bad because it was his first time and he was excited. read more

The staff were extremely nice people. There were many outfits and accessories to choose from and my daughter loved her experience there. We were greeted right away, and the staff did a great job creating an experience...I almost felt like I was adopting a child. We had to had the bear stuffed which was kind cool and a quick process. Next, we had to select a heart and go through a bit of a ceremony before placing it inside the bear. My daughter was able to try on numerous outfits before she selected the perfect one and finally create a birth certificate for her new friend. Now, as a parent, I felt that the outfits and accessories were a bit pricey, I mean 3.50 for a pair of Teddy Bear Panties...I have panties from Ross that cost less. :) I think their rewards program is a good idea because you get a point for every dollar spent and your points can be redeemed for merchandise on a later visit, so definitely sign up for that program. Overall, she had a good time and she was very excited about coming back, so I need to start stacking pennies now. read more

I took my 8 year old daughter, Jazlyn, her 9 year old sister, Trinity and her 8 year old bff for Jazzy's birthday. They had a blast. After 2 ponies capes, shoes, skates, leashes and bridges, plus one harajuku panda, shoes and skates, (ordered a bunch of clearance harajuku clothed and accessories online the night before for a GREAT price), we were out $200-ish. Not bad. A lot cheaper than one might expect from when the place first opened. The bears start at $12. I called the day before tip book a party but they need 6 day notice, but I spoke with Anthony who was super nice and had me all excited to go. We were helped out by a few of the happy people who work there but my favorite was Gabriel.. LOVE HIM :-) He was wonderful and the whole reason for me writing my first yelp review. If you have an extra $20 - $30 and want to do something cool for a kid, go to the Del Amo Mall, by the food court, Build A Bear and ask for Gabriel. read more

It is a cute idea kind of pricey for a stuffed bear but the kids loved it. It was a friendly environment and fun. Still I am not sure if I would spend that kind of money on a stuffed animal ever again. They do have a lot of accessories for the bears and clothing with plenty of different kinds of bears. read more

I came here with my girlfriend and her kid for fun on the last LA Trip. We have a build a bear here in Vancouver, however, the selections and options here are more fun. This place can get pretty hectic and crazy, but the employees here are very good at helping you along to get what you need. I have been to this store twice now and the employees here are super friendly and helpful. Every employee I saw was smiling and seemed to enjoy working there. Customer service is something that is a big deal to me and they are awesome at it. They are very good at offering to help you if you can't decide on something or just in general. I wish more stores would be this friendly and efficient. read more

Build a bear is awesome. Staff here is always friendly and they have so much to choose from! There can be a bit of a wait on busy weekends but totally worth it to get a personalized 'friend'. We threw a birthday party here with 13 kids for my daughter's 5th birthday. Tricia was our party leader, and she was great! She was really patient with all the kids. We picked the awesome adventure so each kid got to pick any stuffed animal (under $25) and any item of clothing. Some of the kids were bummed they didn't get to select the Star Wars bears, but then they built regular bears and dressed them up in a full Star Wars costume, so they were happy. The party lasted almost 90 minutes. There were so many kids of different ages that we didn't end up playing any games because it took awhile to stuff the animals. But the kids were super-happy about getting animals and dressing them. At the end, they gave my daughter a cute cupcake for her bear and sang happy birthday. The kids were super hungry, so they left to go to the food court before the birth certificates were ready. We had pizza and cake at Sbarro. It was a lot of fun! Also, Anthony was super-nice with helping us get set up with the party. The staff is great here. read more

The staff were great. Polite and professional during their Pay Your Age event. Even when the crowd began to get restless, they still maintained smiles on their faces and treated our children with sweetness. Hats off to the staff, great job under pressure. Btw, we were in line for 4:30 hours and our children ( ages 2-7 years old) still said they had fun as we left the mall. That says a lot. read more

We went to the "Pay your age" event yesterday and the staff handled the crowd AMAZINGLY!! We waited for 9 hours.... Yes, 9 hours!!! The staff brought coloring pages and crayons for the kids who were waiting in line. Once we made it into the store, the sales associates took their time with each kid. We never felt rushed and the entire staff had such pleasant attitudes, despite the crowd. I've heard horror stories about this event, but the employees at Build a Bear Del Amo were truly awesome!! We will definitely come back to this location, and recommend them to everyone we know! Thanks again for your hard work!!! read more

My daughter looooves this place. We went for the first time recently when she discovered she had enough money saved up for a visit. The quality of the stuffed animals is very good, and the selection and stuffing process is fun. I avoided this place like the plague for years, but my daughter is so incredibly happy with her Build-a-Bear bunny. That said, the cost adds up quickly. The 2 for $35 deal sounds awesome until you realize each new friend will require their own outfits and accessories, which do not come cheap. (My daughter opted to stick with one stuffed animal at a time.) The employees are trained to up-sell and tempt the children. My daughter did not particularly want to smell the available scents, however the employee we dealt with was being really pushy about it. I told her plainly that we came in knowing exactly what she wants and doesn't want, and the woman said, "I know but I have to show her everything." Um, no you don't if we say we *don't want to* see it - it's called customer service. Fortunately we added up everything ahead of time and my daughter, after reading some reviews, was prepared for the inevitable sales pitches that would be aimed at her. The woman who helped us also talked too fast and just sort of went through the motions, clearly speaking from a script. They are providing a highly personalized product/activity with super impersonal customer service. I would have given this place 2 stars, while my daughter would have given it 5, so I'm compromising and giving it 3 stars. If you're a parent, you'll surely wind up here at some point - so in spite of all of Build-a-Bear's faults, you may as well come prepared with plenty of cash and sales resistance, and have fun with it! read more

Cute little animals that can be made to order for men, women and children. Of course this place could not in business if it was Build-A-Cat/Monkey/Dog/etc. These people are clever and chose the cutest animal in the world and designed a business around the bear; hence, Build-A-Bear Workshop! One can make a BEAR in less than a day and outfit this animal with all sorts of human necessities. One is taken through a myriad of choices of how to build these sweet animals even before you choose their wardrobe. It's more than just buying a bear, rather the experience, the "process" of building/buying a bear. One thing I would like to see is more life like bears as one would see in the wild. As of yet, I have mostly seen cartoon-ish bears(stuffed animals). Of course it would be much more cooler to built a BEAR that looked like real bear cub found in the woods! -sometime soon in the future for Build-A-Bear? read more

First time being here and it was a pleasant experience. The workers are very nice and go that extra mile to make your experience very pleasant and enjoyable. I love how The worker Jenni is ! She is such a sweetheart !!! She doesn't only sit there and stuff the bear but actually makes it very exciting for kids my daughter loved her ! I was so pleased with her !!! She is great!!!
