This is the 5th time my family has worked with Alex and Rafa. The first was a bathroom remodel in 2019. The second was another bathroom remodel in 2020. The third was a multifaceted project in 2021 that included rebuilding the upstairs deck and related exterior closet space below, new vinyl fencing, and also painting the home, and some other items. The 4th was a bedroom remodel in 2022. This time, we needed a new main electrical panel due to safety issues. To accompany the electrical panel project, we thought it would be a good time to upgrade our interior lighting (LED with dimmers), add 2 additional dedicated circuit outlets in the kitchen, and install a new water filtration system for drinking water in the kitchen. While at the home for these projects, Alex and Rafa also assisted with a couple of smaller projects (such as installing a support bracket for a window A/C in a bedroom and installing a new bathroom sink fixture). Some of the reasons for repeatedly working with Alex and Rafa: * Reasonable pricing (most projects we had multiple quotes) * Alex's communication skills as general contractor, project manager. Alex has always prioritized quality, consideration of budget, replies to messages/voicemails, helps find reasonable solutions at a reasonable cost when occasional issues arise. * Any change orders for any of our projects with Alex, we have never experienced change orders due to Alex giving too low of a quoted cost to obtain a project only to increase the cost with change orders later. Alex's original quotes have always been well thought out and change orders have been for legitimate issues that Alex would not have known when preparing the original quote (such as unknown plumbing issue that was not visible or when we, the customers, ask for additional work to be completed). * Alex has even given a refund at the end of a project when something originally quoted did not actually need to be done. * Alex has always been fair, kind, has great attention to detail, and his main worker/employee (Rafa) always does great work and has a good attitude. In short, Alex and Rafa are a pleasure to work with. We appreciate both Alex and Rafa and they have been our first choice when considering any projects (since the 1st great experience, the bathroom remodel in 2019). Long overdue review... finding a contractor is a difficult task in an industry plentiful with them. We didn't personally know anyone who had a good experience so we set out to find a team that we felt would be trustworthy and communicate well with us. I can thoroughly say that it is one of the best decisions we made in our home renovation process! Many companies treat your project as just that, a project.. but Alex and built have an fundamental mind set that they are working on one of the most personal things a person owns, their home. I recently hired Built Renovations for a complete kitchen remodel. We had just remodeled our bathrooms with a different contractor and the results were disappointing. I was determined to find someone that would not repeat that result in our kitchen. Built Renovations came highly recommended by a neighbor, so we met with Alex to discuss our needs. I was immediately impressed. Alex was on time, communicates well, and made sure we understood the terms used in the trade to describe some of the work. As we discussed our vision for the most important room in our home, Alex helped us formulate a plan to build our "dream kitchen" ensuring that our objectives and cost targets would be met. Alex is very experienced and steered our sometimes-vague ideas into something cohesive that accomplished our goals for an open-concept design that was also functional and efficient. He gave us honest answers regarding timelines and costs, which we later found to be 100% on the mark. From the start of the project, his crew came in and covered everything in the adjacent rooms, installed paper and plastic walkways, and completed the demolition phase of the project on schedule and with minimal disruption in our home. At the completion of each day's work, his crew returned my home to how it was prior to their work. Debris was taken away and any tools left behind were stored out of the way. We never experienced this level of attention to detail from any prior contractors and it made a highly disruptive event far less so. During the build-out, his crew arrived on time and worked efficiently keeping our home from turning into a construction nightmare. Several design changes we made were handled professionally and without issue, a welcome relief from the typical low-grade workers that cannot change a thing unless the boss is standing there telling them how to do it. You don't realize the skill level that is required to do the job right. (I actually had to fire the first guy I had hired). From the first communication, till the last bit of trash was hauled away, our experience with Alex and his crew was fantastic. We had been dreaming of completely rebuilding the two bathrooms in our 50's Los Altos home ever since we first moved in 9 years ago. When we were finally ready to move forward last year, we had a very hard time getting contractors to even respond. Since our two bathrooms share a wall, we knew we needed some design and layout help as well to help maximize the spaces. To my surprise Alex got right back to us, and within a week or so he had come out and drawn up several options that would work. He quoted us a very reasonable price, and we signed a contract. A few weeks later demo began, and despite a few minor setbacks (not caused by Alex or his crew) we began to see our dream bathrooms take shape. Rapha is Alex's primary tradesman, and he did every task other than hot mopping the shower pan, the tile work and glass shower door/panel install. It was a pleasure to watch him work every day and his attention to detail was appreciated. He worked diligently to make sure the work was up to his own high standards...many days staying well into the late evening to make sure it was done right. We had complete trust in him and his work and had no reservations about giving him full access to the house even when we were away on vacation or for the weekend. Rey the tiler was also fantastic. We had lots of different tile incorporated into our design and to see the way he made sure things lined up and were laid out in a way that is pleasing to the eye was quite impressive. Again, the attention to detail really shines here. Caesar was a helper early on in the project, single-handedly taking care of the very messy job or demoing the old bathrooms. For more than a week he worked hard under hot, dusty and dirty conditions, happily singing along with his music to give Rapha a clean slate to begin building upon. The bathrooms turned out absolutely awesome and don't have a single issue or criticism. They also did some lighting work in other parts of the house as well as replacing all the other interior doors to match the new ones and those projects were completed quickly and efficiently. One of Builts best attributes is communication. Alex was always available to almost immediately answer my many questions over the course of the project, and he also kept us up to date with what was going on in both the day to day details as well as the big picture.
