More charred than I like it (char due to hot plate) but it was still very good and flavorful. Tteobokki was alright, I prefer mine soft, but they would be great if you prefer yours crispy. The classic Korean slides were GREAT TOO!!! Service was a little slow, since there were so many people, but it was good enough. Since I don't have many Korean options near home I like to seek it out when traveling. On my most recent business trip to the area, I found this option a short drive from the hotel. I liked all of the options on the Starter Combination. The Mandoo & Cheese Wontons more than the egg roll. For my entree I chose the Special Cut Fried Chicken with Spicy Korean Sauce & House Fried Rice. The chicken reinforced my love of Korean Fried Chicken and the sauce was not spicy but quite sticky and messy. Luckily there was plenty of napkins on the table because I went through quite a few. The Fried Rice was sticky enough that even an amateur like me could eat with chop sticks and I never used a fork. The server checked on me regularly without being annoying and only negative was a minor issue with the ticket that was resolved. I was in Greenville during a recent business trip, and stopped by Bulgogi during lunch. First impression, it's very much reminds me of authentic Korean style restaurants. They did a great job with the atmosphere. The banchan was great, their Kangnamul was great (marinated bean sprouts), and the fried chicken was even better. Saturday, Leisa and I tried a jewel of a restaurant in Greenville, SC, Korean Bulgogi. It is located at East North Street and Pleasantburg, next door to an El Molcajete restaurant. Upon walking in, we were immediately welcomed by the waiters and shown to a booth. The atmosphere is small mom & pop restaurant. Clean and bright. Some wood paneling with stone accents. While we looked over the menu, our very personable and informative waiter got our drink order and brought out our complimentary bean sprouts, cucumbers, and kimchi. The bean sprouts were the biggest I'd ever seen--crisp and tasty. The cucumbers were tossed in a spicy sauce as was the kimchi. I'm scarfed down the cucumbers too, but not being a fan of kimchi, I was wary. But it was pretty mild and crisp--not overly sour nor too sharp. Leisa ordered the grilled spicy pork. It was a large portion of thick-slices of very tasty pork. You could taste the smoky goodness of the tender and juicy meat. It was served over a bed of cabbage and white and green onion. A salad and the choice of white or fried rice. I got the Bulgogi Stew. It was brought to the table in a bubbling cauldron of seak, glass noodles, and onion. Our waiter gave me the choice of not spicy, medium, spicy, or extra spicy. I went with spicy and it was! Very good, and the steak was prepared perfectly. I had to wait for it to cool down from seething to just hot, so I polished off a second sampler of bean sprouts and cucumbers and a bowl of rice. There is a wide range of pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, and vegetarian options. Appetizers include egg rolls, wontons, mandoo, and a shrimp pancake. There are teriyaki plates, a 6- and 12-piece chicken plate, a stone bowl rice option, fried rice choices, and japchae plates, six platters, and seven soups and stew choices. It's going to take me a while to work through the menu, but I hope to do so! read more

Here on vacation with my husband we love Korean food so we had to check it out. Got here shortly after they opened. Staff was great. Edited: so turns out we loved this place so much we actually came here every day of our vacation. And every meal we had was just as good as the last. Everything we had was amazing!! The gal bi rib, the honey special cut chicken wings, the spicy braised chicken, the bulgogi beef, cheese wontons, egg rolls and the mandoo steamed and fried. All these dishes were so delicious even the little salad they give you the dressing is so little but flavorful!!! We did try the pork belly it wasn't bad but wasn't a top pick but when we dipped it in the honey butter sauce (it was a hair dry) it wasn't too bad! Ordered take out tonight. I had to call to ask a few questions about allergies; the person I spoke to was really nice and helpful. He checked with the chef when he didn't know info about a dish so I was able to order both the Old Fashion Kimchi Soup & the Samgyetang (seasonal). Both were really flavorful and hearty. I ordered the medium spice level on the kimchi soup and it was perfect (I like a kick but think I have a high spicy tolerance. I generally get 2 out of 5) and the egg was perfectly jammy and rich. This restaurant usually has really good food and so so service. Tonight both the food and service were bad not just for us but for multiple tables. There was only one very overwhelmed server in the front of house. For the first 30 minutes we waited without any acknowledgment even though he had gone to every other table twice. I finally went up to the register and said I know it's pretty busy in here tonight can I just give you my order here. He said " oh sorry, I forgot about you". My order wasn't to complex , I just asked for no rice. I follow a strict keto for cancer diet. I even reiterated just meat and vegetables. Fast forward another twenty minutes to the server coming out to the table beside us saying" you have been here a long time what did you order." They told him and he came back a few minutes later and said they had lost the ticket and would be starting on their food next. He offered a free appetizer as a nice gesture for the mistake. We had the same thing happen to us last time. Apparently whatever ticketing method they use is problematic. So out comes our food, my husbands is fine but mine was no meat, and vegetables burnt to the hot plate. I mean burned so bad you couldn't even stir them. I asked where my meat was and why did my plate have rice. He went back and after about ten minutes he brought half a cup of meat, possibly six ounces out. By this time my husband had finished eating and I had finished as many non scorched vegetables as I could pry from the char. I asked for a a little more meat for my trouble since what I received looked like a half portion of what I normally get. The lady in the kitchen said No that I already had enough. So I paid full price for a burnt incorrect meal with poor service unlike the table next to me who was offered apologies and free food. I can take service being slow and I don't expect every meal to be perfect but the customer service after the fact left the most bitter taste of all. read more

My family and I have been going to bulgogi regularly for the past 3 years. Lately it has lose it's quality. Last 2-3 visits the food has not been as before. The cooking haven't been done by the owners. The kimchi and bean sprouts have been like ice. The bulgogi has been cut like very very thick not like it's supposed to be. The Japchea has tasted bland with just soy sauce. Services is also horrendous. Last visit there was just a table of 2 and us. We immediately placed the order and we had to wait more than an hour for our parties entree and weren't able to eat together ( we were 4 people). People who came after us got served before. Amazing find. Husband and I are from San Diego and weve missed Korean food so much after being in South Carolina for a couple of months. Easily the most impeccable server we've ever had. Even though everyone wore masks and kept their distance as they served, that didnt stop them from being VERY polite and attentive to what we needed. There was another family that came in; although they had plenty of questions about the menu, he was very patient and listened well to what they wanted. Appetizer- Pork and kimchi pancake was cut like a pizza. It was more dense than what we were used to (which is good!) with lots of veggies and kimchi. Crispy on the outside as well. My Bulgogi platter came in sizzlin' and my husband's Stone Bowl Rice w/ pork was so flavorful. We've always been a fan of korean food for their marinated meats and they did not disappoint. After numerous visits, I have to bump them up to 5 stars. The food is just SO good. The lunch specials are fantastic at only $8 for a nice plate of a meat-and-veg Korean dish, plus a side of plain or fried rice, plus salad and panchan, which is different types of kim chi. I don't often come at lunch, but when I am near here, this is a nice option. We usually eat here on Saturdays, when, even at lunch, only the regular, non-lunch menu is available (I believe). (This business is closed on Sundays.) Still, $12 or so gets you a nice plate of food, larger than the lunch menu portion, plus a salad, a side of fried rice or plain, and again, panchan, which they refill as desired. I love the Korean pork, it's my favorite dish here, but the other dishes I've tried have also been very tasty. It's just that the pork is addictive! There's no beer, wine or cocktails, but they do allow BYO. That said, they may not have anything other than giant plastic tumblers to drink out of, so consider that trade-off for the BYO option with no corkage fee. I'm always pleased to see a nice crowd here and that even in our little Southern city, enough people are familiar with Korean food or willing to try it, to regularly get a good number of people in here eating. Not sure how well takeout would work considering some of the dishes, like the pork, are usually served on a hot skillet (like fajitas), but I'm sure the flavor would still be solid. read more

Worst experience. Came in at opening. Was the first to Place an order I heard their bibimbap was good so i already knew what I wanted. the lunch rush started to pick up. As I sat there they Forgot to serve my water and banchan. the other tables got served their food and one table got my food. No apology was made for the mix up. I watch them struggle as they tried to figure out where my order went. I know it doesn't take 35 min to make bibimbap, if it's the FIRST order placed before the rush came in. I was starving and did not feel the need to complain about their incompetence. what a disappointment. all Other Korean restaurants in the neighboring areas in the upstate never took 35m to make the dish I requested. Please try CHef KJ, Otto's on woodruff, Korean BBq, or speed bowl in Greer. Maybe I'll try them again in a month. Hopefully they will have it together by then. This is now my favorite Korean BBQ place. Yes even over Kimchee Restaurant. Here's the biggest reason why...I don't have to drive to Woodruff Road! You may not know it but I absolutely hate driving on that road. I'd rather wait in line at Popeyes in Greer. Anyways...This is roughly 10 minutes away from me on East North Street. The Galbi short ribs and Bulgogi dishes were fantastic. They come with a side salad which includes ginger dressing. Also included is the Kongnamool(Korean soybean sprouts), rice, and Cabbage Kimchee. It's not cheap. $19.99 for the Galbi alone. There are other cheaper options on the menu like $7.99 lunch special for fried rice. But if you come for Korean BBQ this is the best thing. Believe me it's worth it! If you like Kpop(like my wife), you'll love the Kpop music and videos they play on the TVs. The server was so courteous and helpful. She seemed a bit overwhelmed since she was the only server but still did a great job serving. A great variety on the menu for lunch and dinner.
