Super nice staff, but the worst hibachi food. I ordered the 6oz steak to go, and it was so tough, it's a good thing I have good teeth. The rice was just white rice with soy sauce, not hibachi rice and the veggies were good except for the huge chunks of uncooked onion. I also ordered crab rangoon, but the did not have any, so I choose the dumplings instead, which were good. I don't understand what is going on with this restaurant. It has a drive through and that seemed to have a steady one or two at a time customers passing through during a Wednesday lunch hour, but only one person was dining inside. The interior is dimly lit, with dark floors and walls and the floors are extremely slippery, I think due to condensation more than grease, but there is zero traction. They had a sign up that the floors were slippery and even one of the owners sort of slid to the door to deliver a drive through order to the waiting customer and slid back inside. For some reason, right by the ordering station, was a strange amalgum of restaurant supplies, a miniature motorcycle, some random toys and not neatly stacked (see picture). The back wall of the dining space, immediately in view upon entering, has two small chest freezers on either side of the trash bin (also see other picture). On top of the trash bin was a small portable heater. The two rear tables were also half covered with a stack of random toys as if the kids come home from school and play there or do homework? It just seemed unusual, but there is a health rating of "A." The drill is to order from the counter and they bring a styrofoam container with your food to your table. In my past dining experiences here, it was the same. Styrofoam cup, plastic fork, styrofoam container and two small containers of 'yum"sauce. Each order comes with two scoops of bland "fried" rice, which has consistently been disappointing in that it is greasy, flavorless and slightly al dente' if not crunchy or tough. And it is way too much rice. I believe their idea is to serve a large rice portion and that you are to dump yum sauce all over it so that it will be filling and have some flavor from the sauce. Stir fry is bland and the accompanying sauce is watery. I also had tempura shrimp, which were decent, but were served only with yum sauce instead of tempura sauce, or teriyaki sauce. I asked for soy and then used salt. But you have to ask for soy sauce. None on the table. Napkins are brought with the styrofoam dinnerware, but only a few and they are not on the table. A different plate, some condiments and napkins on the table, a real fork, and for the tempura shrimp - salt and lemon is one traditional way to eat these and that would have kicked everything up a notch. Also, I bet a small investment in a screen to hide away the storage, the freezers and maybe the kids table would make the interior more inviting. If you are looking for something that will fill you up and resembles Asian food, this is your place. But don't come for the flavor or the atmosphere, and wear some shoes with a lot of traction. read more

This is our go to fast food Hibachi in the area. We drive from Simpsonville (approx 15 min) to come here for some delicious food. I love the steak and chicken hibachi combination and substitute extra carrots for mushrooms. They also have delicious pork dumplings to pair with the meal. read more

I went around 9 pm through the drive thru, and the food was freshly cooked. I got the steak & shrimp combo plate. The steak was tender, not tough. The shrimp were cooked just right, not overcooked or chewy. The vegetables weren't limp or mushy. The white sauce was thick, not watered down or runny like most places that serve it. I also got the crab ragoon. The filling had a sweetness to it, but the red sauce was a little spicy, so it offset the sweetness very well. read more

I do not see the appeal of this establishment. 4 stars? No way. At best this place is somewhere between extremely average over Americanized oriental fast food to a below average gut bomb. So, if you are seeking a quick inexpensive gut filler this is all you. But, if you are seeking a decent to average lunch then keep on driving or hit the McDonalds next door. First time visiting this place, and thought it was delicious. I had a chicken rice bowl with terryaki. Was not dry or overcooked. Next time zi will try their all day lunch. A great little place to get Hibachi. I have eaten inside many times. I had never used the drive-thru so I decided to try it out. It was convenient and prompt. I understand that the food is cooked to order so wait time is to be expected. I ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi, pork dumplings and an order of crab rangoon. The crab rangoon was different then most places that serve it. The dipping sauce was spicy and delicious. Definitely, the best crab rangoon I have ever had from anywhere. Love this place! The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The owners are very nice too! I stop in for a chicken rice bowl probably more often then I should. I always have some leftover. Everything I have tried has been very good. But my favorite is the chicken fried rice bowl, well sometimes I do get the steak fried rice bowl. The rice is so good, not like the hard yellow rice you get at most places. The service is faster than some fast food places. If you have not tried it yet, what are you waiting for. I consider myself a hibachi connoisseur-it's pretty much my favorite food and I have tried just about everywhere in Greenville,Simpsonville and Mauldin. This place has by far the best takeout hibachi. This place is WAY better than Joy of Tokyo. The rice is never greasy or overcooked (finally!), the meat is always tender (finally!), and the veggies are fresh. This place also has wonderful white sauce with a garlicky taste. The sushi I have had here was also good (especially for a drive thru)-fresh to order and inexpensive. The crab rangoons here are however awful! And the dumplings leave much to be desired. Online reservations are accepted, but didn't appear to be needed. We were the first ones there just after opening, and by the time we left at 12:30pm, the place was less than one-third full. The scallop hibachi was good. Vegetables (zucchini, broccoli, onions, mushrooms, carrots) were fresh and cooked al dente. There were 8 good-sized scallops in the order, grilled just right. The 'Japanese' rice was just plain, steamed rice - and plenty of it. The eel rice bowl didn't seem to be as good a value for the cost. Three small pieces of eel (skin intact) over a small bowl of steamed rice. -Prices listed online are lower than the actual prices charged. -Order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. -Everything is served in styrofoam dishes with plastic silverware. -There is a $1.00 charge for a (styrofoam) glass of water. -Not the friendliest place in the area. -Pepsi products only. read more

Positives: The steak was tender and flavorful It's convenient, quick and close. The sushi wasn't bad! Negatives: The chicken in my teriyaki was soooo bland and overcooked. Just dry and tasteless. The house special roll was probably better in-store, but by the time I was home, all I could taste was the cooking oil in the coating - not crunchy at all. Partly my fault for ordering a sushi roll to go, but the oil taste was icky. Or biggest complaint was the Crab Rangoons. Oh my stars! I don't know what they use for the filing. My guess is some kind of starch, but it gives the consistency of a wet marshmallow. No joke. Spongy and dense, almost like a bechamel, but gummy. I don't know that cream cheese is authentic, but it's normal for American Chinese. This was not. And the crab taste was not there at all. I tried this place after reading reviews online while looking for a new fast food Japan place. I was tired of having to pay almost $9 for a subpar 6 oz steak bowl at Joy of Tokyo. Not only is the 6 oz steak bowl at Japan express $6.75 exactly, it is in my opinion so much more delicious. I always try to call in my order about 10 minutes ahead, and when I do it is always ready by the time I arrive. If I am dining in, the lady at the cashier already knows my order. I've been coming here since it opened and I've never had a bad experience. The food is always great and the service is A-1. Not once have my expectations not been met. The restaurant is always in clean condition the workers are always nice and my food is always fresh and given to me at a quick pace. Went through their drive thru Tuesday night around 830pm. I will definitely be going back soon. The steak chicken combo with fried rice was massive - easily two meals for the price of one. I was visiting my company's division in Greenville and decided to try a local Japanese restaurant. Considering the size of Japanese community in SC, I did not expect authentic Japanese food but it went below my expectation. I have to say that this place is not a Japanese restaurant at all. I ordered Teriyaki Chicken and California roll. Obviously, both of them are American Japanese dishes. The Chicken was not authentic Japanese Teriyaki but it was ok. It came with vegetables and fried rice. The vegies were mostly zucchini. You know what? There is no zucchini dish in Japan. Fried rice was oily and no taste. Btw fried rice is not Japanese but Chinese. California roll is supposed be a sushi roll containing imitation crab meat, avocado and cucumber but theirs contained a large amount of cucumber and very little imitation crab. It was not a California roll. I would give 3 stars as a restaurant but zero star as a Japanese restaurant. There is nothing Japanese in the restaurant except the name. read more

Steak was very tender and the shrimp were peeled and devained, big plus for the wife. Food was served very hot and the veggies were cooked perfect. Sushi was very good.
