I have lived in Greenville almost my entire life and never found solid takeout Chinese. Trust me when I say, this is the food you have been looking for. It is flavorful and cooked well. We were in town for a wedding and our group decided to order in to spend more time together. I looked for a place nearby and ordering was very easy. I am sorry to say, our meals were not very good and some were absolutely awful. It was quite a large order for 10 adults plus children. Every single egg roll was soggy with grease. They tasted like the oil wasn't hot and when taken out after cooking they were not drained and just put in the bags. The sauce on on the tofu dishes was watery and tasteless.....the sesame chicken was thin and hard with an unidentifiable coating. The sweet and sour chicken was more "coating" than chicken. Sorry, No pictures because we were so busy talking and sorting out our food. When we left I packed up our portion to take back to our hotel, and the containers were barely touched. No one wanted to eat it the next day and it went straight in the trash. I have never thrown out leftovers before. I adore Chinese food and whenever I travel, I always eat at least one Chinese meal. I've been coming to Happy China for years, but this last visit was a huge letdown. I ordered the egg rolls and shrimp egg foo young, and both were DRIPPING in grease. On top of that, the shrimp wasn't even fully cooked. I called to let them know, and all they could say was "sorry" and to bring it back--but I live 10 miles away. I had never been to Happy China before today. I was in the area and decided to stop in. I got Bourbon Chicken. The lunch portion was pretty big, but the service was the real star. Did not know what to expect from this chain Chinese Restaurant. Unimpressed. Just had egg drop soup, an egg roll, and hot tea (see the photo when i Checked In). Egg drop soup was luke warm. Not pleased with it. Asked for it to be reheated. The eggroll was not even look warm. The crispy "noodles" were stale. The hot tea was actually hot. It was the best part of the snack. Bathrooms were reasonably clean. Mirror needed a wipe down, but everything else was as it should be in there. Maybe it was because of what time of the day i showed up; i don't know. I almost hesitate to write a review because I don't want it to get too busy!!!!!! Every now and then you get lucky enough to stumble over a gem. That happened to us today. With the traffic we wound up in the shopping center and decided to stop for lunch and the hibachi next-door was not yet open so we hopped in here. All I can say is thank God we did. From the huge container of tea which was very flavorful to the eggrolls which were beyond compare. The dumplings were fabulous as well as the lunch. I got sesame chicken and husband got pork with broccoli. All food came out very quickly and hot. We will definitely be returning to this place!!!!!! read more

Our takeout experience was not nearly as good as our previous dine-in meals. The wonton soup was great. The beef and broccoli sauce wasn't thickened and ran all over the plate. I prefer a thicker sauce that coats the dish. The fried rice had no meat, veg or egg and only a hint of soy sauce. The lo mein had tons of vegetables, but not a lot of seasoning. The spare ribs weren't sauced and were on the dry side. The sesame chicken had good flavor but the sauce was a little thin and the pieces of chicken- usually bite-sized- were huge. All in all, it seems like a bad night in the kitchen. If we had eaten in, we definitely would have sent a dish or two back. At home, we just shrugged it off. No thank you. Please see the photo of the 8 pieces of sesame chicken I received for around $10. I've never in my life had lo mein that was loaded with green bell pepper slices... and the fried rice my food came with was flavorless and had zero veggies or egg mixed in to prove it was actually fried rice. I stopped here because it was the closest to the house I was pet sitting at for Xmas and I'll never be back. I'll never refer it to anyone either. I love Chinese but not this one. I was craving Chinese and kept seeing this place so my family went. Ordered teriyaki chicken, lo mein noodles, crab Rangoon and then my fiancé got general tso meal. Well 2 crab Rangoon and 3 pieces of chicken later I was full. Not a typical outcome when I'm sharing it with another person. My fiancé was full after 5 bites. Not even halfway finished and he was done. We felt like we ate a 4 course meal afterwards which was terrible. I'm always a crab Rangoon lover. I make my own and I'm always up to trying new places. This is our new go to place for Chinese food! Staff, food and service are all exceptional. We celebrated our daughter's 12th birthday there because she wanted good Chinese. We had a party of 20 and we called ahead and made a reservation the day before. The manager was extremely nice and took the reservation. We called back the next morning to verify for that evening, and before we hung up after the confirmation the manager said thank you again for thinking of us. Was very happy to talk to someone who actually cares about their customers. That night after we all got done playing musical chairs, this was on us not on them, we finally got settled in. Everyone was on a separate check, and we had several kids there so the confusion had to be greater, but the waiter did not miss a beat. From drink orders to appetizers to entrees. Everything was perfect. The food was hot and full of flavor, the mustard had a kick to it that was amazing. Glasses were kept filled, never had to ask for refills. The place reminded me of the late 80's early 90's style places that I used to go to with my grandparents. No buffets anywhere in sight. Hot fresh food, made to order and delicious. Prices were perfect my daughter had a great time. When it came to cake time they were extremely helpful, we even offered them cake. So I've been frequently visiting this restaurant and until today it has been good. Today however, I go in at lunch and sit alone and order sesame chicken with a coke and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was great, but when they brought my sesame chicken I cut a slice and put it in my mouth and as soon as I chewed twice I could taste that the chicken was spoiled and had to spit it back into my plate. The waiter offered to bring me a different entree but when you have that taste in your mouth you definitely don't want to roll the dice again. When I told the lady at the front that the chicken was spoiled and that I would be happy to pay for what I did eat, she would not take the sesame chicken off. She took the price of my coke off. I will never go to this restaurant again. How could you make someone pay for something they couldn't eat due to an obvious spoiled food issue. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!! read more
