Attended a private event upstairs here. The bartender tried to charge guests for drinks, despite the hosts having a running tab. The staff was unfriendly and the temp kept switching from "we're sweating our makeup off" to "why didn't I bring a winter coat?" Felt like we were inconveniencing the staff just by being there. ambiance was nice, cool place nice bar thats half outside half inside. cool spot for smithtown looks wise- it's different from everywhere else. drinks were overpriced though! my boyfriend got an Li tea for $16 each when he gets it for like $12-$13 elsewhere. they said his drink wasn't in happy hour like other 'mixed drinks'. sizes weren't consistent. i got a marg and it was half the size of some other cocktails and his drinks were diff sized per each bartender. drinks were decent not great, and smallish. live music was a cool idea but band kinda was just annoying & lackluster. service was pitiful at bar, had to beg them to make u a drink for 15mins and heard another guy complain he waited 30min for a drink. it wasn't that busy. bar is kids more concerned chatting. no parking really, had to park way down at train station. intentionally semi higher end but corners skimped. some things on menu moderate but some overpriced for where you're at. it's smithtown not nassau. .needs a lot of work but has potential. read more

Wow! They did a great job with this place. The open garage doors make you feel like you're no longer in Smithtown and the layout is much improved over the previous bar. I can't wait to come back here and try the food - the menu looks really good. I came on their opening day and it was beyond packed. I stood there for a minute wondering if I would ever get served. My friends waved me over to the bar and within a minute I was being helped by Bryan. I honestly don't even know how this man is able to move that quickly, remember everyone's orders AND still have enough time to make every customer smile. (we think we heard that the band plays til 9pm???) We could not hear the waitress and the waitress could not hear us. Someone shattered a plate on the floor and it went unnoticed SERVICE: The waitress Gabriell tried her best to be attentive, but she was quite busy. She took our drink order (NO MENU, no prices) and had to come back to tell us that they are working on our drinks (beers). 5 minutes til beer arrived. Appetizer came out quickly. 4 orders came out SPORATICALLY beginning 20 mins after finishing our appy! FIRST- Fried chicken sandwich with lots of shoestring fries. 5 MINUTES LATER - 2 burger orders, each with lots of shoestring fries 5 MINUTES MORE - Open faced Steak sandwich with lots of shoestring fries Food Quality: Fried cheese was excellent with a nice sauce. BURGER cooked to perfection, moist on a big bun. Fried Chicken - nicely cooked with a BIG BUN. OPEN FACE Steak Sandwich Fairly tender, nice slab of cheese on top and a very small amount of bread - I took the excess bun from the burger to balance out the steak and cheese. 2nd round of beer - 5 mins to get a drink. Busboy took my empty water glass and didn't return. I had the waitress bring a replacement. Can of beer - $7. 1/2 price PINT TAP BEER - $5 (I wish I heard that TAP BEER was half price) Recommendation to the staff - LOWER THE VOLUME, keep glasses full, Serve food all at once, have a beer menu or identify prices somehow! So happy Bull Smith's Tavern opened! We are all desperately in need a fun lively place to eat, drink, and hear live music with friends. Went Saturday, 5/18 @ 3p. You could tell it was a newly opened restaurant but it was so nice inside, our waitress was knowledgeable and the food we ordered was really good! Anyone who had a problem with this place should try again. I do not know of any grand opening weekend that doesn't have issues. If you were expecting 5 stars, then that is on you. Our experience here was exceptional, with the drinks, atmosphere, ambiance and menu aligning perfectly with what we were hoping for. It's refreshing to find a venue that caters to everyone, from younger crowds and families to older patrons and children. Something Smithtown has needed for a long time now! The versatility of the space is great--you can enjoy a full sit-down dinner, or simply relax at the bar or on one of the lounge sofas with small bites and drinks, which is what we chose to do. The wings were among the best I've ever tasted. The open-concept design, featuring garage doors that connect to the outdoor area, creates a indoor-outdoor vibe, ideal for an outdoor feel while still protected from the elements! I felt bad giving it just one star but if I'm being honest and have no feelings it should get that. We didn't go on opening day, figured it is best to wait a couple days. We also went at an odd hour. Like 2:30/3pm and it worked, the place only had a few couples at the bar and only one table seated! We figured we scored. Our experience attempting to order a drink put us off on ordering food... My husband asks for a drink menu. They do not have one. At a "tavern" that underwent that kind of renovation I'd expect a drink menu but they're new, so ok. He asks for an old fashioned. Poor girl looked like a deer in headlights. My husband asked for Angels Envy - which they either didn't have or were out of. She wasn't sure. He asked for another brand - no. Finally he asked for Bulleit which took a while to find but she got it. As she starts to attempt to make it, several minutes go by and finally she comes over and says we don't have any bitters. So we said no thank you. I asked for white wine and she didn't know what they had. Someone came over and told us Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio but not knowing what kind bc again no drink menu and bc my husband couldn't get his drink we asked for a minute. After observing the bartender pour a premade bottled Bloody Mary mix for another patron we looked at each other and quietly slinked out the door. Yipes it was quite a Hindenburg. I was so excited for this place too. Figured they did all those renovations it would be next level. I saw another review saying how beautiful it looks. Spot on. I attended a party there and everything was wonderful. The food was great, the room looked wonderful, and the service was superb. Nicolette and the other server/bartender that I did not get her name were excellent and friendly. They made sure our tables were clean and that our drinks and bellies stayed full. And they did it all with a smile. I was even more shocked and pleased to know that this place is fairly new and this was their first event in that room and you would have thought they had done many times. I really wanted to love this place! We went for brunch and were the only people there. We got the pastry basket to share and I ordered the steak and eggs with steak medium rare. The pastry basket stated there would be muffins, croissants and pastries with maple butter and mixed berry jam. What we received was plain and chocolate croissants and something with custard. No muffins, no special butter, no jam. It looked like what you would get at a free continental breakfast at a hotel- not worth anywhere near $17. The eggs were fine but my steak was well done when I asked for it medium rare. It was also lacking flavor. Again we were the only people there- it shouldn't be that difficult to cook the steak to temperature. Very expensive for very mediocre food. read more

The food was absolutely incredible! My wife and I split the chicken sliders and they were perfect. Also, not sure what they're doing with their fries but whatever it is, keep it up! Service was timely and my espresso martini was on point. They even had a really good country duo during happy hour! My only knock is that they played too low, wish they'd turn the volume up a little. I also love that they play great country/rock music and not just Top 40 songs like "Last Night", etc... Went on a Saturday evening. Their drinks menu is limited and their choice of brand of alcohol is also limited. My husband wanted a gin and tonic with Bombay and all they had was Hendricks, he ordered an ice tea which was only available in sweetened not plain. He watered his tea since he is a diabetic. They only offered regular margaritas not flavored. For the most part the food was good, however my slider rolls were extremely hard and needed to be replaced. The wait staff was pleasant. We won't be returning which is a shame because the atmosphere and vibe were great. read more

We visited BST last night, our first time there. It's been said never judge a book by its cover, in this case it's true. The redo of the property was well done. Looks very nice and the inside/outside effect is well done. That's the cover. We ordered drinks which the waitress struggled with. There appears to be many beers "on tap" but dont ask for a frosted glass, they dont have them we were told. When she returned our orders were wrong, but she kept trying. Eventually she got it right. We then turned to the menu. It's limited with odd choices. I ordered the steak tibits which were disappointing. The steak appeared to be more like sliced roast beef, not tidbits at all. Portions were small. The dinners, and we had several at our table reminded me of meals we got in high school at the cafeteria. This is not restaurant quality food. The staff seemed young and inexperienced...wondering the floor as if they were lost. For this place to survive management needs to improve, service needs to improve, and the food must be restaurant quality food. The place looks great...but that's it. We wish the BST luck. First time and was a Sunday. Renovations much needed and did a good job. Place was pretty quiet but was Sunday. Music started with straight Country then when random more towards a Kids Bop type popular. So music needs to be handled better or get a jukebox. We had Tomato Salad which needed more flavor. We also had the honey wings. Very tasty but no plate to put bones on. This is a necessity for wings. As far as the Drinks. Jameson and Coke. Was done right no skimping on the JameO. Thank you. The other a coconut Margherita tasted like the tequila and water. No real coconut taste. Menu isn't big so look before you go. They could use a basic Pizzette with the other 3 possibly Margherita? Also more Vegan and Vegetarian options as those options are bringing in more crowds as not many bar/ restaurants in area seem to forget that crowd. Lots of potential if they make some minor moves but in its present state we probably won't be returning. We live in the area and people I know also were hoping for some place new to go. Please step it up and post any changes. I've heard there's mostly Country music here and I hope they diversify to get any crowd. Not there for music but there for food and nice crowd. The place was beautifully renovated from the previous establishment. They have a nice outdoor bar area with tables and seating area. This is perfect for a hot summer night with friends. We ate at one of the indoor high-tops with another couple this past Saturday night. The indoor acoustics was extremely loud and holding a conversation at the table was extremely challenging. We need to raise our voices several levels just to have a conversation. Our waitress was attentive when we first got there, but as she got additional tables, it took a while for her to check on us. After period of time, we had flag her down to get another round of drinks but we were already through with our dinner. The quality of the food was ok. We ordered nachos with chicken as an appetizer that was served cold. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries and my husband order the Grilled Mahi, both we ok, not much taste. At the end of our meal, when we received our bill, our waitress added several additional food items to our bill that we never ordered. That put our bill $150 over what it should have been. Not sure if we will be back again until they do something about the indoor acoustics and can improve the quality of the food. Overall, I think the place is definitely a happy hour place for young people. I wish ownership much success. read more
