Two weeks in business, and we're already fans of this place! To those who say "customer service is dead" need visit Mazi. Celebrating our anniversary, we received a card signed by 20+ staff members, and not less than eight people came by to wish us well. Our server was on point, and all who came to support the meal were friendly, engaging, and had our best experience in mind. The fired bread (similar to naan) is a great deal (though a touch too much olive oil), and we highly recommend pairing it with the whipped feta and olives. The scallops were our #1 or #2, and the chill matched well with the flavors brought forth through the drizzle and other elements. Kudos to the carrot salad, as well. The next three options were good, though not in the killer category. The M'Battan was new for both of us and, though it was beef stuffed potato, seemed to be miss the flavor or texture of either. The Lion's Mane Mushroom Sharma seems to be their special offering, and it comes as two tacos on a flat of collard green. My wife said, "I'm so glad I took the first bite, so I could truly enjoy the second... but I'm not sure I want a third." Lastly, neither of us will rave about the prawns as they lacked flavor, which was unexpected given it appeared they'd been cooked in spices. We'll be back, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the menu progresses. The bones of the restaurant seem to be well in place, and we wish them great success and making people happy through great meals and experiences!

Had a really nice chill brunch here. It's a beautiful restaurant esthetically . Great decor. Nice bar area. Also a little patio seating in the working lot area. It's a super small parking lot but they offer validated free 2 hour parking in the lot behind them. We decided to sit outside but it was sunny and no shade! We had the option to go in though if it got hot as it wasn't really busy. We started with drinks ! Brunch cocktails! They have a pretty extensive list and wine and beer. I had the bitter behavior, nice but a little weaker than I anticipated. My friends had the violet hour, pretty lavender drink. Also the breakfast bramble, an interesting drink with a mix of interesting ingredients including Greek yogurt. Was different! Food wise we had avocado toast, which was so pretty and also full of other toppings ! Greens, tomatoes, onions and radish. Nice and fresh. I had the Turkish eggs with labneh, poached eggs and chili crunch and served with whole grain toast. This was nice and light and the chili crunch gave it a nice kick. The baklava soufflé pancakes are for the sweet eaters. Plenty going on on that plate. It looked amazing . I didn't try as I'm not a baklava lover but heard it was good and sweet with all the flavors. A filling plate for sure. Good for sharing. Our sever was super nice although I found the service a tad bit slow for a Sunday brunch when the place isn't that busy. But it was a great place and a nice experience. Nice bathrooms too! For your Mediterranean food lovers.

I'm a little torn in how I felt about our meal here as I felt that some things worked better than others. I'll start by saying the service was SUPER friendly. Their recommendations weren't the most helpful, unfortunately. For example, they suggested we get the octopus which we were super interested in only to find out when we ordered it it was out (seeing as we were one of two tables there that night this couldn't have been because it ran out by the time we ordered it). A second example is offering to concoct an interesting cocktail they thought we may like that would be outside of the happy hour menu. When the happy hour menu turns every cocktail (including the ones that are as expensive as $18) into an $8 cocktail, this isn't so appealing. The mezze platter was ...fine. It only comes with two pieces of bread so inevitably you have to order more for $6 which is fine. I really didn't enjoy the honey on top of this as I found it to be difficult to eat (each bite makes your hands sticky). The dips themselves were pretty good and this was probably our favorite of the night. Falafel arancini were forgettable, as was the little gem salad. The shrimp dish could have been a bit more flavorful as I felt like the sauce was a little thin and meh, but the shrimp themselves were so so plump and the shrimp toast was actually quite delightful. We ordered a second dish of this but when they brought this out we were told they were out of shrimp toast- I feel that if this were the case either they should've stopped serving this dish or not charged full price as the shrimp toast is half the dish. We opted for the $65 steak at the recommendation of the waiter and it was a pretty solid piece of steak- I enjoyed the seasoning and the slight char. However, I don't feel that it warrants a $65 price tag- one could easily get this steak elsewhere for a max of $50. Finally, the baklava was interesting and had a marshmellow-ey whipped topping with some crunch at the bottom but if I hadn't been told this was meant to be inspired by baklava I don't know that I would have gotten this. The cocktail menu has a bunch of interesting things and again they were $8 each when we went, which was definitely an attractive aspect of the meal. I think this place has a lot of potential and could be a solid option but may still have some growing pains in terms of the flow of the menu and the way in which it presents its identity.

Mazi is amazing! The executive chef and owner is Chef Whitney Thomas who was one of the final four finalists of Season 23 of Hell's Kitchen. Located in South End. Their is complimentary parking in the parking lot behind the restaurant where you scan the QR code at the hostess station and just enter your license plate number. The staff is super helpful. They tell you what dishes to pair with what and what order to eat them in so you can truly savor all the flavors. This is a Mediterranean restaurant that offers shared plates, curated cocktails, and desserts. The ambience is upscale and moody. Highly recommend if you are looking for some place new to try and want to explore bold rich flavors.

My wife had been wanting to come here since it opened and we're so glad we did! We got the mezze plate, which came with several different tasty spreads and a grilled bread that was amazing. We also got the scallops, the braised beans, and the m'battan. The braised beans were a highlight - very hearty and garlicky. And the baklava sundae was awesome! Loved the toasted marshmallow on the outside and the honey yogurt gelato on the inside.

Really cute new restaurant with delicious food all around. The highlight was definitely the grilled bread. The service was a bit slow and a couple of our orders were forgotten, the staff apologized and did acknowledge having a large party they were attending to. I would go back

This restaurant is amazing! We came last week for a special dinner tasting menu. It was one of our favorite experiences so far. Each entree/dish was extremely inventive. The flavors Chef Whitney used all compliment each other so well. It was nice to experience such unique cuisine in Charlotte. The ambience and vibe is fresh and the entire staff was super friendly. We then decided to come back later in the week to try their brunch menu. We were not disappointed! We tried the Turkish eggs, lamb hash, baklava souflee pancakes and grits. We ended up taking some home, but we had to try each of these unique dishes. Everything was creative & inventive yet again. We hope this restaurant survives due to its location. Highly recommend- you won't be disappointed unless you just prefer bland food :)

Went for restaurant week so they had a set menu. Everything we had was delicious. Cocktails were not too sweet and well balanced and the service was great. Although the pork chop with grits was slightly overcooked it was still good and that's saying something. Highly recommended.

It was a Friday night two weeks before Christmas, but it was only 5:45pm so I feel like we got lucky. We were able to walk in and be seated right away. We ordered cocktails and embraced the tapas menu, ordering too many things to sample and share. We sadly had to leave some of it behind. Our waitress was a sweetheart and though the restaurant space was big and open, the warm wood and exposed brick inside made it feel welcoming and cozy. There was enough room between tables that we didn't feel crammed in and the table was big enough to hold all the delicious goodness. I felt like two top tables can sometimes barely hold your water glass and bread plate. We head to Charlotte pretty regularly for various things, and I would like to bring our teenage boys back sometime. I think they would really like the menu and style of the restaurant. Nice enough for a quick date night before and event, but casual enough that I feel like we could bring the teens and not have to "dress up".

I do think the interior sometimes feels a bit too "open-concept," if you know what I mean... ...but who cares?! The food is great! As for the current menu: I really like the watermelon caprese salad, scallops, and curry chicken tacos.

The bar area was busy but we managed to snag two seats on the side without too much trouble -- seat yourself setup. Here's where it gets a little mixed. My partner stepped away to use the restroom and I sat there for a while while one of the bartenders walked back and forth past me, clearly focused on closing duties, without so much as a glance or a menu in my direction. Not the worst thing in the world but when you're sitting at a bar alone it's hard not to notice. Fortunately another bartender came over, clocked that I was just sitting there unattended, and immediately smiled and handed me a menu before taking both of our orders. She turned it around quickly and that kind of awareness goes a long way. Shoutout to her. I ordered a 3oz pour of Syrah -- pretty decent, did the job. We didn't order food so I can't speak to that. The overall vibe was chill and low key for a late Friday night, which was exactly what we needed. Would come back for a proper visit earlier in the evening and give the food menu a real shot.

The chicken skewers were especially great during earlier visits -- very moist, flavorful, and something we specifically came back to order again. Unfortunately, our last visit was really disappointing. The chicken was extremely overcooked and very dry compared to prior visits. The brussel sprouts were also undercooked and mostly raw. It's also worth noting they do not take reservations for parties under six, which can make planning ahead difficult during busy times. It was frustrating because we know the food can be much better based on our previous experiences. If the kitchen were more consistent, the rating would be very different.

Monday night, half price wine by the glass or bottle, all of them on the list! Love when they do that without limitations. So we went with a glass of champagne! Because why not when it's half price! Service was excellent , and the food just awesome . So fresh and delicious. The menu here is so nice and varied with so many options. We started with the prosciutto carpaccio, paper thin prosciutto with olive oil, and fresh Parmesan and fresh greens, white balsamic and hazelnut. This was amazing, just yummy. The roasted mushrooms, come on a sliced yogurt, with verde hummus, and sumac onions. Again so flavorful and so many different things going on in this dish. Highly recommend this. The short rib bolognese. A fabulous small plate, but plenty for two . This sauce was so good with the fresh grilled bread they serve. The pasta was perfectly cooked, spinach flavored. Truffle ricotta, and crispy prosciutto on top, nice pieces of short rib too. This was an excellent dish. We were truly full so had to pass on dessert but we did get a after dinner espresso martini, called the Salud! A Spanish table toast, peppermint infused tequila, espresso, licor 43, coffee liquor and creme de cacao. Served frozen, this tasted like an Andes mint. Perfect after dinner drink. My friends and I got the Crab Brik, Wagyu Burger, Shakshuka, and Avocado Toast. The Crab Brik came in little triangular wontons that were fried to perfection. I think real crab meat was used which is always nice. There was some aioli on the plate, but certainly not enough to dip with meal in. The Avocado Toast was recommended by our server and it was a top tier choice! It had chili dukka on it so everything from the eggs, sourdough bread, and avocados tasted very seasoned, despite the dish sounding a bit plain. They do not skimp out on the avocado here. My friend said the Wagyu Burger tasted good and I tried the Shakshuka (for the first time in my life) which tasted very tomato-y but still yummy with the bread!
