My family and I made our way here on an October Saturday afternoon. We opted for a package deal that included a hay ride to pick your own pumpkins (cost of pumpkins not included), corn maze. For a family of 5 was just shy of $50. Very picturesque with lots of things to do for a few hours! They also had a small kiddie maze, some Donkeys and ducks, pick your own sunflowers and seasonal flowers, lights refreshments. It looked like maybe a band was going to be playing as well later on in the day. Social distancing was practiced and masks were required. While we are in covid land right now it was still nice to get out and about and still be safe with current CDC guidelines. Friendly and pleasant staff.

Pick your own pumpkins from the vine, take a hay ride, let the kids see farm animals and run around the corn maze... oh and they have a brewery, too! What more could you ask for?

Very nice farm but to charge the adults $5 to watch kids in a corn box or a haystack is greedy. The hayride is worth $4 as it takes you to an actual pumpkin patch where you cut your pumpkin off the vine. Best part, you can walk to Screamin Hill Brewery which is very much worth your time!

From start to finish it was such a fun adventure! You're able to grab a bucket and literally walk the endless rows of beautiful tulips and pick as many as you'd like to your hearts desire. I had no idea there were so many different types of tulips. My bf and I really enjoyed learning this and also learning how to properly "pick" a tulip in order to transport them home without there being any wilting or withering. The weather actually made the experience that much more memorable in my opinion and provided quite a beautiful back drop given the contrasting colors to the grey and white sky. There were a nice selection of food trucks there as well so we grabbed empanadas and lemonade before round two of picking flowers and admiring mother natures beauty. Once we got the tulips home we followed instructions on how to properly clip and keep them watered and within minutes the tulips began to blossom :) The two vases we filled brightened our space and made us begin to plan our next visit ... with a plan on how we'd be more strategic in picking groups of colors and different heights lol. Highly recommend visiting them!

We went on a Tuesday morning, and from the moment we pulled in, it was a great experience. When you arrive, they ask how many bags you want, give you big plastic bags, and then you're off to pick your own produce. We decided to pick collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, sweet potatoes, and a few peppers. Some items were out of season, so we bought those inside the market instead. Inside, we grabbed garlic, tomatoes, scallions, apples, onions, and a bottle of peach cider which I highly recommend! Everything was fresh and flavorful. The workers were all friendly, helpful, and welcoming. You can drive around the farm, park your car to the side, and pick whatever you need. When you're done, you stop at the booth, unload your items to be weighed, and pay there. They accept both cash and all major credit cards. A few tips: wear old clothes and shoes, and definitely don't get your car washed before going because everything gets dusty! I also saw a few people using scissors or knives to cut their vegetables, which is a smart idea, though we picked ours by hand. After getting home, cleaning everything, and cooking up the greens for dinner, I have to say they were the best greens I've ever had in my life. Farm-to-table food truly hits different. The prices were very fair and much cheaper than the supermarket & the quality was unbeatable. I highly recommend visiting this farm for some fresh, nutritious produce to feed your family.

Everything was clean, organized, and family-friendly (including the bathrooms, which as parents we definitely appreciate!). Our kids had an absolute blast picking fresh strawberries, meeting the animals, and riding on the tractor, which ended up being one of the highlights of the day! That also included a donut and apple cider after the maze. It was very well organized and they had people directing traffic to park. They had a trailer to buy tickets or present your Groupon, 2 separate lines so it went very quickly. We were given bracelets and were directed to the maze. Before going I read it normally takes about an hour and a half to complete the maze. It was a cool night and many people were arriving to enjoy the maze. We walked around and around for quite a while which is the whole idea. There were some muddy patches since it rained a little in the morning so after I slid in the mud one time I was more careful about where I was stepping. I felt like we were walking in circles and there are no clues or hints to direct you and unfortunately some people pulled down the tapes that mark off the paths so that made it more confusing. After about an hour and a half I was ready to get out of there. Unfortunately we never found the exit but instead made our way back to the entrance. We collected our donuts and cider and called it a night... Not a bad evening and a nice change from the dinner and a movie routine. I just think I'm better suited for the day time maze next time. Staff was very nice and friendly definitely recommend.

I have an individual farm share at Katona's neighbor, Honey Brook Organic Farm and I retrieve my produce (and pick my berries and flowers) on Thursdays. So, I've been passing Katona for the last 3 months, telling myself each time I should stop in. Honey Brook planted corn this year, as an add-on crop, so you can purchase some each week for an additional fee (members otherwise pay in advance for the rest of the produce for the whole season), but I've been put off by the price - $1 an ear. This is my only complaint about Honey Brook - and it's minor. I did try two ears of their organic corn last week, and it was, like everything else grown there, amazing. But we are at the height of New Jersey's corn season; and I am in corn country. I knew I could do at least just as well, cornwise, elsewhere. I like organic food, and philosophically, prefer it, but I can't always justify it financially. Maybe that's shortsighted of me - I am a big fan of bees, and the earth's other little critters that suffer under non-organic practices. But now the corn is already grown AND ISN'T GOING TO EAT ITSELF! So I stopped in at Katona. They've got a NJ Preserved Farm designation, so even though they're not organic, at least they're not condos now. Or a freakin' golf course. Or a parking lot. Or strip mall. The market is way in the back, behind some buildings. It isn't hard to find, but I had that "where the heck is this place?" feeling the whole time I was driving around back there. The staff was very nice. Despite the sign, "Corn: $5 a dozen," they told me it was $4 a dozen today, and they'd give me a baker's dozen -- and, as it turns out, a baker's half dozen, if I wanted less corn. So I got 7 ears of corn for $2. I haven't had a proper NJ tomato all season, and saw that Katona had some, so I grabbed 3 medium-sized babies. And a cucumber. With the corn, the whole bag of produce was $3.50. My farm share included 2 melons, a pile of potatoes, and a bunch of very large beets, in addition to flowers, and herbs. So between that, my work bag, and, oh, the two loaves of bread I picked up at the local IPB (BOGO day today), and Katona's produce, I had a hell of a time unloading my car tonight! But I ate really well, Katona providing the bulk of the meal. The corn was every bit as good as the organic stuff down the street, and the bonus was that I had a tomato to go with it. I ripped up a couple of basil leaves and threw them on top. That first bite of tomato was eyes-rolled-back-in-my-head joy. Pure joy. How I've missed you Jersey tomatoes! I roasted my Honey Brook zucchini in rounds, after brushing them with pesto, and topping them with just a little bit of Romano and mozzarella. I may never eat zucchini any other way. While my experience at IPB was not quite stellar, the bread was such a nice addition to the meal. I just finished it off with a glass of cabernet. It is summer, and I am happy.
