I wanted to like this place, so badly. Came highly recommended by a friend, and Dr Garza really does have excellent bedside manner...it stops there. I went in for a cracked tooth knowing I probably needed a root canal. Find out they only do them once a month there when the endo is in...they were booked two months out. The charge for one crown and a root canal was over 3k. Temp crown fell out within two days. When I finally went in for the root canal (never had one and was extremely nervous and they knew this and it was noted in my file, that I was difficult to numb) had to stop the endo twice, once because I had a literal panic attack in the chair, again because I could feel everything. The root canal itself after they got me properly numb was fine. But before the root canal they tried to tell me all the sudden I needed a second root canal next to that tooth and one on the other side. I was not having it. The crown itself is a horrible gaping fit. It protrudes outward much further than any of my other molars and the bite is horrific. I ended up having my cosmetic dentist replace the crown because it was such shoddy work. The crown portion was done by Dr. Wu who has got to have some of the worst bedside manner and roughest hands out there. She was incredibly pushy and rude, and made me feel like crap for not wanting to do more work than originally agreed upon and getting a a second opinion. I have since had said tooth that also needed a root canal done, fitted with a filling, their horrible crown replaced, and a renewed fear of the dentist thanks to them. My husband went to get dental implants or permanent dentures. They removed all of his teeth and put in temporary dentures. These dentures cut his mouth. He was in a lot of pain. They didn't even smooth off the needle like points on the dentures. He went back and had the dental assistant smooth them down. Dr. Wu wanted him to wait the entire weekend so she would be there when he went. That would have been 3 more days in pain. After his 2nd adjustment they told him he was done even though he only had the temporary dentures. The insurance said that he has 12 months to have the permanent dentures put in to place. The clerical staff said the temporary dentures were the final dentures. The are wrong. read more

My husband had an emergency and Dr. Wu and her staff took the time to see him. Dr. Wu is so kind and knowledgeable. She showed the damages in the x-rays and throughly explained with her recommendations. The office ladies provided the costs of procedures which we paid for one to be done that day and scheduled to second procedure the following week. My husband is very picky and if my husband is so pleased and comfortable with the professionalism and care, then I'm confident and convinced that Bulverde Dentistry (Dr. Wu) will be our family dentist! I'm so afraid of the dentist and after my husband's positive experience with Dr. Wu and staff, I scheduled my appointment the following day with Dr. Wu. I cannot express enough to how much I was impressed with the sincere care, compassion, and honest professionalism! We tried this dentist office because our old one no longer took our insurance. We had not been long since our last regular cleanings. However, they said my son had 11 cavities and my daughter needed an extensive deep cleaning. My daughter is 18 and had gone by herself. She told me she was not treated kindly and when she asked questions about what was needed and if all the extensive X-rays were truly needed (plus we decline fluoride), they were rude to her and made her feel awful for asking questions. I got second opinions for both of my kids at Summer Hill Dental and my son actually only had 3 cavities (not 11!) and my daughter did not need the extensive work that Bulverde Dentistry said she needed. We saw Dr Wu. Bulverde Dentistry also seems to bill things differently. It's like 2 separate appointments for the hygienist end the dentist, and everything seems to cost more with our same insurance there than at Summer Hill or our previous dentist. I do not generally leave reviews for places and I always try to believe the best, but I could not help but feel like they were trying to get every extra dollar they could. read more

_*will update when time is more available After my FIRST (and only)visit here they gave me a lay out of what all needed to be done to fix my mouth... which they legitimately made me feel horrible about. Total would have been near 3,000$ and they weren't going to do a teeth cleaning because my gums needed attention first.... But the worst part of this, after talking to 2 other people who have used them. My fillings from my previous dentist have started to pop out.... 3 of them. And I mentioned it to people, who are in the dental world and they had gave me names of others who said the SAME has happened to their patients who went to bulverde Dentistry!! So now I have more fillings needing refilled and apparently a $3000+ dollar job for my mouth to not be "in major need, to be fixed soon" ** I have gone to another dentist, who totaled all my issues at 680$ to fix and said flossing... highly don't recommend.... I will say of everything the hygienist is a sweetheart! And they have the high quality updated tools! read more

This dental office has a dentist that is doing subpar work and knows it. My son had a crown done here along with other work and the crown never fit right. He tried to tell the dentist, and she was rude to him, claiming it was as good as it was going to get without damaging his tooth further. He lived with it, feeling like there was a rock in his mouth, and uncomfortable till he couldn't anymore and was forced to find another dentist. We filed a grievance with Insurance at that point. After several other opinions, we went to a dentist in Seguin who like the other dentists did took x-rays and showed us at the crown didn't even go all the way to the gums. It was probably about an eighth away from the gum line and wasn't seated well. Just like my son tried to tell the dentist when she was so rude to him the insurance company did an investigation and had their dentist look at the x-rays and records and found in our favor that the dentist didn't do it right and they made the dental office refund them. Now we are trying to get this office to refund us, and they want my son to sign a settlement agreement just to be refunded for the crown that they screwed up! This seems like extortion to me. He shouldn't have to sign anything. They screwed up, and needs to refund him. Especially since the insurance investigation proved it also! The dentist he saw was Dr Wu. read more

Terrible experience. As a working man who has a small window to escape, if I schedule a meeting at 11:30, I expect to be seen at 11:30 (or even 11:45 since I am a new patient). They took in 4 other customers before me (mind you I checked in before them). Once I got in, everyone who saw me had no idea what they were doing. We had to take 40+ scan shots to move forward, in which case the primary dentist was rude to me. To top it off, I was told they did not have the capacity to do my routine cleaning today, but would gladly reschedule me in a week. Walked out on the spot. Your call. I went 1 time. Got an estimate that included 2 crowns, 9 filling replacements, and a deep cleaning. For the fillings, they treated my insurance as a discount plan instead of 100% coverage like I actually had. I tried for weeks trying to get the insurance piece corrected, but it was always me doing the calling, and I felt like I was getting the run-around. Eventually, I gave up. The entire time, I was somewhat suspicious of suddenly needing all of that work. I went to a different dentist for a second opinion, and the deep cleaning was confirmed, but the rest was unnecessary. My pre-existing fillings are in good shape. That turned a $4k estimate (after insurance) into a $300 estimate. read more

I can't believe they are still in business! They have changed to a new billing system which created havoc on all scheduled appts. Most appts were never brought I to the new system so when you arrived for your appt. They said they didn't have an appt. And that you needed to reschedule. In addition, somewhere during this change over, they sent me to collections for a charge that I never owed! Needless to say, I was furious. The office is poorly run. I went to Bulverde Dentistry to get a tooth pulled. I then was told I could get them all pulled and paid $1,700 down after they made a mold and gave me a shot of Novocaine. The insurance company denied approval for the procedure. They returned only 900 of the $1,700 and would not even give me the dentures. This is not only ethically and morally wrong but should not be allowed if anybody knows of a recourse let me know. read more

First time I have ever gone into a dentists office to get my teeth cleaned using my insurance. Expected a small copay as usual but they kept throwing in more processes that were not covered by my insurance. Walked out owing more than expected. They said I didn't have insurance, rather a discount plan. Checked my insurance plan and I did have coverage for a "regular" cleaning and "regular" xrays. They don't cover all the up selling procedures that the office added and made them appear to be normal procedures that my dental insurance doesn't cover. Husband got sticker shock when they presented him with the cost to replace a crown. Thought he was going on for a cleaning that was going to cost $400+ ended up with a bill OVER $1K. read more

Buyer beware. My wife and I went to Bulverde Dentistry on 9/15/2021 for teeth cleaning. We were both new patients. Based on advice from the dentist, we both had a crown installed and some other minor procedures performed. Before the dentist performed the procedures, we were presented the proposed cost of the procedures in writing which we agreed to (me $1,108, my wife $900). We paid the entire $2,008 bill that same day. When we got home we looked up the procedures on our dental insurance and saw that we had been significantly overcharged for many of the procedures. For example, each crown was supposed to cost $410, but we were charged $718 for each crown. Then I receiived a bill in the mail in October for $1,465 for my procedures indicating my bill was unpaid and they had increased the cost of my crown from $718 to $1075. I disputed the bill telling them that I had already paid my bill on the day of the procedures. In December, they finally acknowledged I had paid $1,108, but only reduced the cost of my bill by $100 to $1,365, so I still had a balance due $257. They did not provide an explanantion why I still owed $257, the December bill just indicated it was 60-90 days overdue. Watch out, they will rip you off. read more

I felt like my dentist wAs just going through the motions. I decided to try a new dentist and I have to tell you Dr. Garza is great. All the employees are helpful and are completely professional. They have all the modern and up to date equipment that many offices are lacking. They gave me one of the best cleanings I ever had. I also got a crown and a Zoom whitening treatment and I was happy with it all. Before they proceed with anything, they tell you what they recommend and break down everything covered by your insurance so nothing is a surprise. So after reading a previous review complaining about price and cost well, I disagree with it. They are honest and will do what ever they can to help you get the best from your benefits and make any other costs affordable for you.
