Wonderful place for breakfast. The couple who runs the place are great people and very friendly. Our food was excellent. Great iced mocha!

We stopped here during a cruise excursion and chose to eat rather than shop--and we're so glad we did! This cozy, family-run restaurant is tucked away on the second floor (just walk around to the back to find the stairs), and it offers both a welcoming vibe and a beautiful view. You place your order at the counter first, then grab a seat and relax while your meal is freshly prepared. I had the Grilled Fish Wrap (ahi tuna), which was perfectly grilled--crispy outside, pink and tender inside--and it came with a refreshing cold pasta salad. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich special with potato salad, and everything was absolutely delicious. Drinks were a pleasant surprise, too: the hibiscus lemonade was light and refreshing, and the iced coffee--served with coffee ice cubes--was strong and flavorful to the last sip. The staff and owners were friendly, the food was top-notch, and the view made it even better. Don't miss the potato salad--it was hands-down my favorite! Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

We called an audible when arriving in the AM at the Charolotte Amalie shopping area downtown... we were heading to a different place for AM coffee, and we saw Bumpa's and remembered someone recommending it to us last time we were in St. Thomas. We're always wanting to try something new! So, Bumpas is a smaller, narrow place on the second floor of a building on the waterfront street downtown. What it lacks in size, it more than makes up for the view it provides of St. Thomas Bay. It's a spectacular view! The couple that run the place are super nice, and they've been in St. Thomas for decades... literally. They moved there and raised their children some 20+ years ago. We opted for our usual lattes, which were very delicious. The food selection at Bumpas is almost overwhelming, so any different things to choose from, and they all sounded good. We opted for a couple of empanada-like fried/stuffed meat pies, like a stuffed fry jack you'd find in Belize. We ordered one stuffed with "salt fish" and the other with beef. Unfortunately, we were served two of the salt fish variety, which was promptly corrected. Served with a sweet sauce on the side, and another side of blistering hot habanero sauce. The fried dough was a little bit thick on the ends, but overall the pies were good. The fish was a bit salty, but tasted great. The beef did lack a little flavor, but was still good. We would definitely good back to try other things on the menu. When the coffee is really good, it's always worth a return trip when the menu is vast. Recommend Bumpas for your coffee and breakfast/lunch dining pleasure...

If your hungry belly is craving a tasty breakfast that isn't overpriced, then Bumpa's is your spot. Service is friendly and fast, and the AMAZING waterfront view while you chow down on that delicious grub is a bonus!! Only downside is parking is a pain in the butt, but if you don't plan on staying for more than 20mins and you order something light, then you can be creative when it comes to parking, ( ;-) wink, wink)..lol Go and enjoy, you won't regret it!

Delicious Brunch spent at Bumpa's, the monte crisco sandwiches were incredible. They had gluten-free bread as well!!! Restaurant staff were so friendly and funny! Small deck overlooking the water with a beautiful view. Only a handful of space/tables so not best for large groups.

This is an absolutely lovely establishment by the shore of St. Thomas. It is exactly what it says it is, a place to get a good meal at a reasonable price. The bagel and lox was surprisingly good and coming from a New Yorker, I take my bagels seriously. A beautiful view. Friendly people behind the counter.

Stopped here on our way to airport from St. John and glad we did. Finding a parking spot sucked, to say the least. But, glad we finally did. Food was fresh and homemade for sure. Wife had Avocado toast and I had breakfast burrito and home fries. We sat on the balcony overlooking the bay, so that view was a nice send off setting before our return flight to the states.

This is our favorite breakfast place in St. Thomas. We love the lobster omelette. The ambiance is amazing. The food is fantastic. Great family that owns this place. We highly recommend you stopping by. Fun fact, the painkillers are amazing!

Hands down, the best breakfast on the island (or at least the area). Walking distance from our hotel we visited 2x's during our stay on the the island. The food was so delicious and fresh, it's no wonder we returned a second time. Located upstairs with stunning bay views, it provides the best setting to enjoy a meal. The owners are there busy working, taking orders and cooking. A wonderful small restaurant we were happy to have stumbled upon!!

Nice views, decent breakfast food and service. Service is slow as it just a husband, wife and helper. They do pretty good to say the business is steady. Small outdoor seating area but has some really nice views.

The WORST experience I had on vacation! Should be named GRUMPAs, the entire staff was so nasty, don't know how they still exist. The food was horrible and the place is run down, the steps are deadly, the owner and staff are just horrible, NEVER have I ever been treated so disrespectfully, if I wasn't with my family, I would have walked out. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY .. overpriced for what we had. overreacted when I asked for a napkin... "you don't even have food yet" he says, my drink was sweating all over table! Such a nasty response to a customer. WOW

    View from the cafe

Perfect place for a quick bite on the water. I thought the food was better quality than anything else in the area and for a similar price. We had the frozen cappuccino and Lox Bagel. Shaded seating area, friendly owners, and relaxing atmosphere.

In a place where highly priced restaurant dot the island, The Chicken Fry is a great spot to pick up lunch and dinner (no tables) and fill your beach/work hunger. We had 3 big plate orders of stewed chicken, white rice, and yellow plantains, also comes with a side of beans. The chicken was moist and juicy especially with the savory sauce it was cooked with, the rice wasn't dry, the plantains ripe and well cooked, and the beans were seasoned and spiced just right. Service was friendly, fast even with the constant influx of people coming in. Fresh food was coming from the kitchen even by 745pm. The interior is simple, no frills, and well lit. We parked our car on the street and it took us less than 10 min to get our order. The road may seem sketchy to outsiders especially at nighttime but we had no problems finding the place. Would come back to try more of their food and would recommend! Small plates are around $8-9, and big plates start from around $12. Our big plate with the stewed chicken. Rice, plantains and a side of beans were $12 each. Oxtail big plate is $18 . Cash and credit cards accepted.

She was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the service overall was exceptional. We started with the Virgin Islands crab cakes. Two flat crab cakes, packed with real lump crab meat. Moist, flavorful, and not stuffed with filler. They came with a sauce that had this cinnamon apple ketchup vibe to it which sounds odd but somehow worked. I was skeptical at first, but I ended up loving it. For the main course, we had the Filet Mignon ($68). The menu mentioned that it was served with honey spiced asparagus but instead came with carrots. It also came with mashed potatoes and a coconut green peppercorn sauce. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare and they delivered on that. We also tried the Whole Snapper for $55. It was deep fried and served with peas and rice and carrots. Packed with flavor and very crispy. For drinks, I got the Golden Hour Martini $16. Slightly sweet, citrusy, and refreshing. Easy to sip while watching the sun set over the island. Mafolie is on the pricier side and I do recommend making a reservation prior. But between the view, the quality of the food, and the service, you are paying for the full experience. If you're in St. Thomas and want a memorable dinner with a view that actually lives up to the hype, Mafolie delivers.

We were immediately and graciously greeted by our hostess/server/bartender all-in-one Tiffany. She had the most charismatic personality and smile. I loved her energy! The menu basically featured an array of proteins (chicken, shrimp, wings, salmon, etc) and sauces (jerk, creole, teriyaki, and the special shama sauce) you can pair it with. Sadly they no longer serve curry goat and they were out of oxtail the day we went. Each order also comes with choice of 2 sides. I ordered the jerk salmon with side of rice and peas and plantains. My salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved the slightly peppery spice from the jerk seasoning. The plantains were delicious. The rice was a little dry for my taste but went well with my salmon. My fiancé got the wings in shama sauce and this was SO GOOD. Would recommend. The decor is very bare bone and feels like much more of a take out place than somewhere you would go for a nice lunch.
