This place is great. I ordered tbe gazpacho and jerk wings and ox tails. It was my first time having gazpacho. It was so good. Light and refreshing. The oxtail was the main show. It was so tasty. The gravy was so good. The peas and rice was so wonderful. Pauline our server was really great and kind. Service was fast and friendly. The vibe of tne place is real cool.

There aren't many choices in Charlotte Amalie. Diamond stores take up most retail spaces. Gladys' was recommended by a local and we're glad we went. We escaped the tourists and had a wonderful fish lunch. The Ole Wife was fresh and nicely prepared. The service was friendly and bathrooms were clean.

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Curry goat is super tender and well flavored. Rice was cooked with some beans with a hint of tomato. The plate also came with some cabbages, carrots, and 2 slices of plantain. Jerk wings (6 piece) had some great kick to it. Well marinated so the chicken actually has flavor rather than just the sauce. Kalaloo Soup (bowl) was slightly different from what we expected but quite delicious overall. We enjoyed the vegetables and beef in the soup. Bush Tea was strongly lemongrass flavor with hints of basil Service: 5/5 - everyone was really friendly and we had no issues as service was quick even though the restaurant was packed. Ambiance: 5/5 - the lighting is a bit dim but it felt quite homey with paintings on the wall and exposed brick masonry. It had a wine cellar vibe Value for price: 4/5 - pricing was a bit expensive but it is to be expected since it's such a touristy area.

After an awesome wedding weekend, the bridal party and family stopped here as a send off for the newlyweds. We had a party of 11 and they got tables together for us quickly. Gladys' can be a little hard to find. It's down an alley off the main shopping street. This spacious, inviting restaurant was delicious. We had two servers for our group. One was much more attentive than the other. We looked up and half our group had drinks and ordered food. We didn't even have water. This led to a portion of the group finishing much earlier than we did. They have a full bar, we had signature drinks, refreshing lemonades and bourbon w/ginger beer. Food wise, we had a bit of everything. Crowd favorites were the oxtails (so good), jerk chicken, lobster and avocado salad and brown stew chicken. The cabbage and rice and peas were great. The only major disappointment was the fried snapper. It was VERY fishy and strong in flavor. This is one of our favorite dishes and whenever it's available, we get it. I have never had it taste this way. We chose not it eat it, but paid for it. The icing on the cake was the bottled hot sauce to take home. I snagged the passion fruit hot sauce and can't wait to use it. If you're in St. Thomas, swing by and have a hearty, flavorful meal.

Gladys is such a cozy little gem tucked away in one of the alleys off Main Street. It's the kind of place you might walk past if you're not paying attention. Really cool spot with a warm, inviting vibe. I tried oxtail for the first time here, and it left me with a good first impression. It was really flavorful, tender, and fell right off the bone no toughness or chewiness at all. The rice that came with it complimented it really well. The plate also came with plantains, which were sweet and packed with flavor, definitely a highlight. If I had to nitpick, the veggies on the side didn't stand out much but honestly, that's just me being picky. The rest of the plate more than made up for it. Service was crazy fast, I blinked and my food was in front of me, which I really appreciated because I was starving. Everything about the experience was smooth and satisfying. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a good meal. I'll definitely be back!

Gladys' Cafe is a cozy, family-owned spot tucked off Main Street. We stopped in for a quick breakfast while waiting for nearby stores to open. I had the 2-egg breakfast plate along with a Bahama Mama--simple, tasty, and reasonably priced. The next day, we originally planned to try a different restaurant, but it was closed so back to Gladys' we went. This time, I ordered the Oxtail Special. It was definitely good, but at $36 (as you'll see in the photo below), it felt a bit overpriced. Overall, the food and atmosphere were enjoyable. It's a great local option in a central location. Will I be back? Yes good food, solid vibes.

Gladys' Cafe should not be a kept secret. Visiting the beautiful island of St Thomas, we were told of an amazing restaurant to eat by the locals and we were not disappointed! The food, amazing! The service, amazing! And we had mango daiquiri to wash it all down. The freshness of the fish, the creamy, savory goodness of the conch chowder and the rice and peas. Such an island treat and our waitress was such a sweetheart! There is no way you can go to the Virgin Islands and not have Gladys' food!

This was probably the only place we like out of all the restaurants we went to. The price was decent and the food was actually good. The service was good. We came on two different occasion. One time it was pretty busy and every table was full. Portion was good as well. We stick to the lunch special. Would recommend for anyone visiting to definitely stop and check this place out for sure.

Oxtail stew was amazing but pricey for $35 for the entree. They were so tender falling off the bones. My husband enjoyed the curry chicken stew. The fritters were good too! Service was great!

We came here for one reason and one reason only. The conch fritters, and I must say that they were worth coming here for. 10/10 This is a super cute cafe and the staff were friendly and welcoming. You won't be disappointed with anything you get here as I saw dish after dish coming out and everything looked incredible Enjoy!

The chicken was moist and juicy especially with the savory sauce it was cooked with, the rice wasn't dry, the plantains ripe and well cooked, and the beans were seasoned and spiced just right. Service was friendly, fast even with the constant influx of people coming in. Fresh food was coming from the kitchen even by 745pm. The interior is simple, no frills, and well lit. We parked our car on the street and it took us less than 10 min to get our order. The road may seem sketchy to outsiders especially at nighttime but we had no problems finding the place. Would come back to try more of their food and would recommend! Small plates are around $8-9, and big plates start from around $12. Our big plate with the stewed chicken. Rice, plantains and a side of beans were $12 each. Oxtail big plate is $18 . Cash and credit cards accepted.

She was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the service overall was exceptional. We started with the Virgin Islands crab cakes. Two flat crab cakes, packed with real lump crab meat. I was skeptical at first, but I ended up loving it. For the main course, we had the Filet Mignon ($68). The menu mentioned that it was served with honey spiced asparagus but instead came with carrots. It also came with mashed potatoes and a coconut green peppercorn sauce. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare and they delivered on that. We also tried the Whole Snapper for $55. It was deep fried and served with peas and rice and carrots. Packed with flavor and very crispy. For drinks, I got the Golden Hour Martini $16. Slightly sweet, citrusy, and refreshing. Easy to sip while watching the sun set over the island. The menu basically featured an array of proteins (chicken, shrimp, wings, salmon, etc) and sauces (jerk, creole, teriyaki, and the special shama sauce) you can pair it with. Sadly they no longer serve curry goat and they were out of oxtail the day we went. Each order also comes with choice of 2 sides. I ordered the jerk salmon with side of rice and peas and plantains.
