    Bun Bo Hue

This place is a Bellaire staple. My parents would always take me here after a late night out with their friends. They only serve bun bo hue here so you'd think it'd be pretty solid right? I fear it just barely passes. The broth is lacking in my opinion. A bit bland and you can really only taste the lemongrass compared to other flavors. The noodles and toppings are standard. At least they have very quick service!

This place has only Bun Bo Hue and there's a reason why, it's the best thing that place cooks up. With the few days in Houston, was searching around for BBH in so many different Vietnamese restaurants and really did not find anything comparable to how good this BBH tasted here. The soup had the perfect amount of umami and loaded with meats and noodles. Many sizes to choose from depending on how hungry you are and you can tell the locals love this place! Staff was friendly and quick to get the order going. Not too busy when I went so it was nice to enjoy this amazing BBH leisurely. Highly recommend!

Possibly the best BBH I've had in a very long time. If not #1, then definitely tied with my other favorite place. You NEED to stop by, they doing it right!

I went on a Thursday night to try this place out and was pleasantly surprised. I was a bit skeptical about how it would compare to the homemade BBH I am used to, but it definitely satisfied my craving. The BBH was super tasty and they have chili oil and shrimp paste at the table to flavor the broth to your liking. The portions were huge with plenty of broth, noodles, and meat. (8.5/10) I couldn't even finish my small bowl so I took the rest home. The service is super fast and the prices are very reasonable. Overall, the BBH tasted very authentic and I would definitely recommend it to people wanting to try BBH or looking for a late night bite!

Very simple menu and this place specializes in bun bo hue. Their bun bo hue is delicious and comes out hot and fresh. Service is fast and friendly. One of the best hole in the wall places for a nice warm bowl of bun Bo hue. Highly recommend!

A great spot for late night Bun Bo Hue. This place has been a houston staple and most people's go to spot for Bun Bo Hue. The broth is hearty but not perfect so make sure to mix in the shrimp paste that they offer. The noodles are perfect and the pork blood and beef they offer is great but slightly chewy. The service is quick and the ambiance looks like a typical asian restaurant, with a fish tank! They haven't changed over the years and kept their taste the same. Overall, 8/10.

Only one item on the menu. And tbh there wasn't even a menu lol. It's in their name...Bun Bo Hue two sizes: small and large. We got two larges and the bowl was big. We were def full after finishing our bowls. I saw the small bowl someone next to us was eating and it looked like a regular bowl elsewhere. Service was fast and BBH was good. It wasn't very spicy but there was chili oil and mắm ruốc to add if wanted. Veggie plate with lime per usual provided. ~$30 for two large bowls and water tax included as of March 2025. Would come back again to try the other options .

    Complimentary add-ins.

My friends and I came here after a late night pickleball session, and there was a surprisingly consistent flow of people all the way until closing at midnight. We all decided that we wanted/needed soup to warm up our freezing fingers and this is the perfect place for soupy noodles if you like bun bo hue because that's all they serve here. You order at the counter by choosing either the regular or large size and can also add on drinks if you'd like. I ordered the regular size and also a lychee tea with coconut jelly. I polished off the bun bo hue including all of the noodles, beef, pork loaf, pork blood, and veggies with no issue. I gave away my pork hoof to a friend though I'm not sure if there was a lot of meat on there anyway. This was my first time eating bun bo hue, so I have no point of reference but everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals judging by the completely empty bowls.

This is the only restaurant where I want to eat Bun Bo Hue in the Houston, TX area. The broth is just perfect. I like their fresh cabbage mixed salad for the Bun Bo Hue, but the cabbage was too wet. They did not even let it dry before bringing it out to serve to the customers. Their service was just decent. I like their refreshing mixed jelly drink. If you like Bun Bo Hue, then this place is for you.

This by far is one of the best Bon Bo Hue places in Houston and Dallas. They only have one menu item Bon Bo Hue . I found it quite funny their sizes are only large and small. I picked the small but the one in the picture is large because my dad ordered that one. Their small size is like a normal bowl. The noodles were cooked to perfection and I loved their broths and veggies. The interior was clean. The servers were helpful. Would totally go back again!

My first time having bun bo hue, and now I'm concerned the bar is set too high! I'm a pho lover, hence why I had never had bun bo hue before. But a sudden cold front in the middle of Texas had us looking to find some good hot meals! My cousin recommended this place so on we went. I knew we would be in for a good time when this was the only item on the menu! The food came out quickly and I almost forgot it was 30 degrees outside. Despite the redness, the food wasn't spicy at all. It had a little too many herbs/seasonings for my liking, but still good. Beware that it did smell like smoke inside, and the service isn't the most welcoming.

    Bijou N.

Good place to grab bun bo hue, but be aware that's the only thing on the menu here. I would have given 4 stars for the food, but took off a star for ambiance. PARKING: pretty easy, there's a lot here AMBIANCE: the whole place smells like cigarettes and is a little dingy. If you're smoke sensitive, you should just have a heads up before coming here. FOOD: there is only one dish on the menu, and they do bun bo hue very well. The portions of meat and noodles is generous. The soup is spicy and thick and very authentic. There are tons of people ordering BBH to go. The large is HUGE so just know that in advance. My friend got their special drink which is green and has basil seeds, a little too sweet for my liking.

    Simple interior

Unique restaurant situation. I've never seen this before. They make one thing and it's a delicious Vietnamese soup. That's really popular but it's the best one I've had in Houston. I can't believe that they only make one thing and the restaurant was packed for lunch. I cannot wait to go back. I met the owner. It was a very nice man

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. It's nice having an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in our area, close to us, so we don't have to make the trek to Bellaire every time we crave some Viet food!

I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. (#3) Boh-Neh. Not bone.

When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.

The guy who answered the phone wasn't the friendliest, but I decided to roll the dice anyway, and I'm glad I did because the food was solid. We started with the egg rolls. At $10.95 for five pieces, I thought they were a little pricey. They came out piping hot and fresh from the fryer with a great crunch, and the fish sauce was delicious. My only complaint was the lettuce--they only gave us one piece. What am I supposed to do with one piece of lettuce? The Canh Chua Tôm had the perfect level of sourness, exactly how I like it. The shrimp were a little overcooked, but the medium-sized bowl was a generous portion. The Cá Kho Tộ was cooked perfectly. The sauce was rich and savory with a hint of sweetness, though I would've liked just a touch more salt. Pair it with a bowl of rice and some soup, and it's hard to beat. Overall, this place was solid. Is it better than my grandma's? Absolutely not--but that's a tough standard to live up to. It definitely satisfied the craving, and yes, I'd come back.

The Bun Mam was packed with abundance of fresh seafood and it came with great noodle portion, enough to split the bowl between the table. The Banh Khot was perfectly crispy on the outside, while staying light and delicate on the inside. It paired great with their house-made kumquat dipping sauce. It was a little sweet for liking, but diluting with some water balanced it out nicely. I had a great experience and left impressed by both dishes I've tried. I'll definitely will be back to explore more of their menu, especially their variety of snail dishes which looked incredibly delicious.

I loved the street vendor feel that hits you from the moment you walk up with the casual outdoor seating. However, the interior, with its regal decor and trendy feel was what caught my attention. Our waiter was very kind and took time to explain the items on the menu, and his recommendation of the egg coffee drink was perfect for what I was looking for! The egg rolls, skewers, fried rice and clams were all delicious. Everything was rich in flavor and unique compared to other Asian cuisines I had tried before. Can't wait to return to try the rest of the menu!

The food is consistently great, and the prices are reasonable, especially considering the wide range of seafood options. I've tried the razor clams, and the grilled pompano, and I highly recommend both! They also have a solid lunch menu, which makes it an even better value. Service is always good, and the seating areas, inside and out, are very inviting. Definitely worth checking out!
