My craving for roasted Pork Belly and BBQ Pork was serious, and I already knew I was coming to Dac Hung BBQ, as I have come here in the past. I didn't know which to choose from though. The plan was supposed to be simple: grab some meat and then go to Wing Kee for my Yang Chow fried rice. Dac Hung is off of Bellaire close to cook Rd. Pulling in was a little tricky. The driveway is pretty high, so you definitely have to ease in slowly. I had my signal on, doing everything right, and someone still decided to start blowing at me . I politely blew back because...why?? At that same moment, the owner pulled in too--I just know he was thinking, "Wow, impatient Houston drivers." I got in and was so excited I ordered the wrong cut of meat. I ordered the Roasted Pork instead of the Pork Belly. I was admiring the unique delicacies that they offered.The owner was super nice, he let me sample a few things. Still on my mission for my dinner, I left and tried to go to Wing Kee for rice...only to find out they were CLOSED with a sign saying from March 11th through April 24th, which you had to get out of your car to read it. That honestly annoyed me. They really need to update their phone, Google, and online info because people rely on that. I sat in my car to find out where I was going next. I was a little lazy and didn't want to go past the beltway to the other side. I ended up going to Hai Cang Harbor Restaurant for the Rice. When I looked at the roasted pork I bought earlier, it had way more fat than I wanted, and that just wasn't gonna get it. So guess what? I went right back to Dac Hung . The owner laughed and said, "You back again so soon?" I told him, "Yep! I ordered the wrong thing. I need that BBQ pork." I was satisfied and had my lil meal then. Do not go here even if every store in bellaire is closed. Nobody knows how to speak English in the store so if you don't speak their language you are SOL. They will treat you like crap and give you the oldest meats possible even tho you request that they give you the ones that are hanging on the racks. Went on a Sunday morning 11am and I ordered Heo Quay and clearly pointed I wanted the belly portion from the one that is hanging. Instead, the worker grabbed a portion from the trays on the bottom that looked very old and it is from the thigh of the pig. I eventually told him that I actually want the one from the rack and the belly part and he mumured "this new". It was unbelievable how ignorant he was. Secondly, I ordered BBQ pork where I pointed at the rack. And say it ain't so, the worker grabbed the last piece from a tray that looked old, black, and super dry(pic attached). I was referred by a friend to go here because he had good experience with them. But not me. I will never ever tell any of my friends to come here because how they treat people that do not speak their own language and only knows English. The Duck, the Roasted pork, and the BbQ pork were all tasteless. Prepare to be Utterly disappointed and never comeback Lastly, I asked if they have a bathroom I could use. Both of the workers looked at each other like there was a problem. They eventually said "no" and I literally had to urinate behind my car. Walking in, the place looks very unsanitary and disorganized. I've been here before years ago, but because of the atmosphere here I never came back. My go to rice plate was closed that day, so my dad recommended this. They give you a lot of rice and very little meat and vegetables. If you get the pork, they'll try to give you the old or not good one, so when they're chopping it up watch out. As for the bbq, it was so dry. There was no flavor to the meat at all. read more

Amazingly delicious roasted meats are freshly made and available daily at Dac Hung. Come in the morning around 9-10am for the best selections. They often sell out fast on the weekends/holidays. You can pre-order the whole roast pig for special occasions. I almost always have to get at least a few lbs of the roast pork(heo quay) every time I am visiting my family. You can let them know what part of the pig you prefer before it gets chopped up. Countless times again and again, the roast pork is consistently well made, tasty, moist, juicy, tender and mouthwatering crunchy-crispy skin that all satisfy your hunger. Every single piece is incredibly delicious! The roast duck and BBQ pork are also good, but it's the roast pork that I recommend to everyone! It goes great with fresh French bread available at many of the bakeries in Chinatown or fine rice vermicelli (banh hoi) with sweetened fish sauce (nuoc mam) available from across the parking lot at Van Loi. (They sometimes have bread and fine rice vermicelli for sale at the counter). Affordable lunch specials are available with the roasted meats. They have a limited menu of different dishes posted on their wall and a handful of buffet items but I am too in love with their roast pork to even think about straying away from what I know is good! Somebody call a doctor because I'm free-falling into a food coma. I decided to stop in here on a whim while out and about looking for a lunch spot. The hanging roast duck and pork in the window invited my senses to come in and order food. Since my vietnamese language skills is on par with that of a 2 year old, and since the kind ladies behind the counter didn't speak King's English, communication seemed to threaten my quest for a lunch feast. However, it was clear from the look of my face that I was hungry for food, so they offered me the lunch plate of two meats and a side dish from their cafeteria style spread. Famished, I agreed to their offer of roast duck and roast pork with my choice of a bell pepper/pork side dish. Little did I know that the bag that I carried back to my office would spell my demise. As I opened the carryout box, the aroma of sliced roast pork and duck consumed me as I poured the small container of what can only be described as meat juices upon the spread of meat and rice before my eyes. The pork was nice and tender and made all the juicier from the freshly poured meat juices. The roast duck was tender as well and had some bones from the swift cut, but they were no match for my greasy fingers and hungry eyes. As I made my way into the side dish, I learned that this was no ordinary side dish, but rather, a side dish of sauteed bell peppers mixed in with several pieces of a seasoned and delightful pork belly fat. And you know what the real kicker is? This feast of a lunch was all had for $5 and some change... Excuse me while I take a nap dreaming of taking naps... P.S. Worst roasted pork on Bellaire area!!! I have tried all other roasted pork places on Bellaire, and this place is the worst regarding of the taste and customer service. Every piece of meat was bland and dry. My mother-in-law ordered a whole 20+ lbs roasted pig for my engagement day a month ahead and on that morning we came to pick up, they charged us an extra hidden fee that they never mentioned before. They said if we don't pay for that fee, they are not giving out the roasted pig and we also lost our down payment (which is half of the whole roasted pig price). This place is a huge disappointment especially the so called owners that works there. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. They are very rude. Went into there to get two roast pork sandwiches. As soon as we got it, we paid and left. While I was in my car we checked the sandwiches it was a huge disappointment. There was no meat on it, just pure fat. I went back into the store and told them and asked if they could make me new ones since I haven't bitten into any of the sandwiches yet. I was in search of a new Chinese barbecue place after I had moved to Houston. I had Yelp this place and saw some mixed reviews. It definitely deserves a higher rating based on the barbecue. The to-go portion is lacking food so maybe that's where the lower stars cane from? Anyway, glad I came here! I bought the barbecue pork and roasted pork. They were both very very delicious! Before driving off, the fatty me opened the box to try them both while it was fresh. It did not disappoint! The meat on the barbecue pork (xa xiu or char sui) is very moist and was extremely flavorful. I was worried it might have lacked flavor because most places would either be no flavor or salty. The roasted pork (thit heo) meat was juicy and tender and the skin was nice and crispy. Most places make it on the saltier side but this was just perfect. It was salty naturally from the meat. I'm super excited I took a chance on a random place. Also, their pricing is on the cheaper side. #winning! I found my new go-to for Chinese/Vietnamese bbq! read more

Watch out for this place, so rude and mean, no service at all and make me feel like we are begging for their food! ...no kidding, I ordered the whole duck and turned out just bones, and big duck necks with few pieces with little meat on it . I called the store and asked the owner if it is an half duck with 2 wings on it! He said he is not owner but if it has 2 wings then it is a whole duck! . .. this is a terrible place to go to. Incredibly friendly even with a language barrier(They are viet). Menu pasted on different areas of different walls. Items sometimes have price but no name. But at least there is pictures and everything is out in open display. Even if you had to search all over for them. The soup dish is very un-vietnamese, it's like a pho style bones cooked in broth minus flavor. It's like boiled water with meat and noodles. All payments were final, nothing else was mention in term of additional fees. On the day of pick up, my dad arrives on time on the opening hour to pick up. He was told to pay them an additional $40 for overtime work because opening hour is only for walk in customer, NOT for customers who ORDERED and PAID several weeks ahead. If he chooses not to pay, either wait 30+ minutes for the roasted pig that is ALREADY READY or forfeit the order. Totally greedy and unethical way of running a business. Very rude Vietnamese people, if you're overweight or slightly above normal weight they ask you if you're eating the entire order( if multiple orders) by yourself. I ordered two orders one for myself and one for a friend and the man ringing me up asked if the two boxes were for myself. He was already in a bad mood when I walked in.
